I've been sewing bucket hats whole weekend. Such a satisfying little project. I just want to do more and more. I see so many matching color/pattern combos in my fabric stash. And it's great project for using fabric scraps! This is a free sewing pattern #sandcastlebuckethat from @wavesandwild Hats are reversible! No changes in the pattern, but I've used a different sewing method: first do both sides, sew them together right sides together around the brim, turn to the right side through a hole, topstitch the brim. I've used some linen scraps and cotton poplin by @poppyfabrics from @lalabaj.pl I used fusible interfacing only on brim and only on linen side. Recently my daughter had a birthday and she loves her American Girl Molly so I decided to make her Molly’s birthday dress and cake to celebrate since back in June, American Girl released several play sets for Molly’s 35th Anniversary collection. I found a pinafore pattern from Bebekins Patterns (Polly Pinafore) that just needed a couple extra shoulder ruffles and set to work! I used a stiff but light linen fabric and I love how it pops and gathers. This pattern was my first full dress construction and included learning how to hand stitch button holes! Doing them by hand was really cathartic and she picked out some pretty adorable heart shaped pearl white buttons for her dress. Because she is a much older girl than the target for the pattern I added 12 buttons than the recommended 3 and I love how that added a level of maturity to it. Last I ordered a cake from my local grocery store to look just like Molly’s cake from the story and it was a hit!! Little Red Riding Hood set for a little cutie who will be celebrating her first birthday next month 😍 Featuring Bebekins' Polly Pinafore in maroon cotton linen 🤩 The hooded cape took me more than 8 hours to finish because I had to rip seams multiple times so I can get the arm hole to fit perfectly. 🙈 Then it also won't cooperate with my sewing machine, so I had to sew it by hand, including the hood 😅 Tomorrow (well technically later, coz it's almost 4am 😁) I will finish sewing the diaper cover to complete the set. Hope my client approves of this one so I can proceed to work on other orders 🙏
