My second go of the @bebekinspatterns #robynruffledress in the A-line style, this time a size 1. This is a good quality vintage cotton calico from @valuevillage_thrift a few years ago, which was much easier to work with than the mixed fibre flimsy shirting fabric I used for the last one. This pattern has some nice neat seam finishes. I don’t have a serger, but I zigzagged the interior where the pattern asked to. The seam allowances are 3/8”. I was going through her wardrobe and saw this #bebekinsrobyn dress, which she has grown out of completely. But it made me go down the memory lane again. She wore it on our last vacation - an unusually rainy vacation in Mexico last year. . The fabric is a vintage sheet my mother-in-law gave me. I just love the sweet (but not over-the-top sweet) floral pattern. . We had been at the same resort the year before, and I remember last year, while packing for our trip, I was savouring the idea of taking her pictures in this dress with these very bar chairs - I thought they'd make an ideal prop. . And it rained. And rained. And rained. And then there finally was some sunshine. We put on the dress and headed to the location. And it rained again! . Somehow all of these things are making me sad. They make me feel that she didn't get enough wear out of this lovely dress, although she did wear it both before and after. . Maybe I am mostly sad to have to retire this dress now? Or, perhaps, I should give it a new life? This is a #robyndress (a-line view) in size 3, made with the pattern by @bebekinspatterns. It turned out well, but it’s definitely a pattern for experienced and meticulous sewers. Lots of fiddlyfarty details! 😹😹😹 I used some lightweight shirting material I had leftover from another project, I purchased this fabric at @valuevillage_thrift at least three or four years ago, and I still have a bit left for one more small project.
