I'm making #callisundress from @bebekinspatterns for my 8 year old (140 ish cm). She is tall and slim, which is normally a problem when we buy clothes (yes, my kids actually wear bought clothes for the most of the time 😅). The size chart says size 7 for the chest. So I will cut a size 6 (since it's a jersey fabric) and lengthen it to her waist line. It feels a bit odd to cut this small size, but I hope it will work 😊 And yeah, thank you @bygousheh for the inspo 🙏😘 Other adjustments will probably be the sleeve pit. I haven't decided yet if I will use the skirt from the pattern, or if I will make an A line skirt without the gathering. I will start with the top and decide later. The ribbon is made from a bias binder attachment I bought from @lisastyger for my Babylock Coverstitch machine. The bodice is lined with blue cotton jersey. I sewed in a wide elastic in the waist at the back and stretched it about 20%, to get the skirt snug around the lower back. UP CYCLE I’ve done a few little projects like this in the past and they always feel that little bit extra special. Especially when I think about the future of these little people I’m sewing for. The original dress never fit my arms right and though I no longer wanted it in my wardrobe I knew the lyocell fabric had much more life in it. I’ve made a Calli Sundress before and its such a sweet little dress, perfect for this light drapey fabric. The bonus of up cycling is 100 percent sweeter when you get to use the original hem!! I’ve included a photo of what’s left of the original dress and have plans to use more of it.
