I am not usually a fan of purple/lavender….but adore how these colors layered together … The bra: Pattern: is #thevivienbra V1 for the cups, and then I adjusted #thegracebra to a frame compatible with a partial band cup, and for a longline ( see my IG highlight “Strapless/longline” for how to do this) Construction : I didn’t have quite enough of the gorgeous embroidered tulle lace from @gravitybygrandy to do all the bra and the underwear for this , so for the power bars I layered microlycra between ivory bra tulle and sheer cup lining; and to keep the fabulous color of the Phlox lingerie findings from @brabuilders I laid mesh over powernet to keep the support The Underwear; Pattern is the #montgomerybrief from @orange_lingerie modified to have a higher rise.

Housewarming presents have been gifted so I can finally post them here!! I got this lace and the matching elastics and findings last fall from @emeralderinsews for both sets and I’ve been saving them up for a special day! The bras are the #devonshirebra pattern from @orange_lingerie and the panties with the simple legs are modified #montgomerybrief also from Orange. The terrific panties are the #mariepanties by @evielaluve using sheer bra lining for the side ties. I didn’t have enough of this lace to do the backs in lace so I used a scuba from @fabriclandwest on the pink set, and swim lining from @discoveryfabrics on the white pair. Both sets are utterly delightful to wear and neither are even remotely practical. As it should be, right?

It’s finished and the fit is 👌🏻 😅 This is obviously my entry for #magamsewalong with #fitfebruary @sheliawhosews @suestoney @sewing_in_spain 🧵🪡✂️ I ended up widening the bridge by 1 3/4” at the base and by 1/8” at the top. This meant that I had to remove this extra width from the side seams and rotate the cups by 3/4” to achieve the correct balance - the last picture so the changes in pattern (orange dash - add and blue cross - remove). Thanks to Mandy from Fit2Sew for her brilliant YouTube videos 👍🏻 This lace is all over Instagram and I love how different it looks paired with different colours - thanks so much to Sue from @brabuilders who helped me pick golden 😊 Details Pattern: The Grace Bra by Annie and Myras, Montgomery Brief by Orange Lingerie Lace: Lingerie Making Shop Etsy Findings, powernet, lining, mesh and FOE in Golden from Bra Builders Used my Bernina binder attachment to attach the FOE - actually it’s for unfolded binding so it’s not perfect. My most used pattern is likely the @orange_lingerie #montgomerybrief - it's a great pattern for nonstretch tulle laces when you don't have much to spare to sew matching bra and undies. (The Kingston Thong takes a smaller piece, fyi.) I've also used the pattern as a single layer back. Here, I have the Montgomery Brief with Emerald Erin's Black Beauty Bra (w/ the power bar on the inside) using a kit from The Lingerie Society. Since the kit lace is pretty much just enough for the bra, the Montgomery pattern is perfect when there is a bit of leftover pretty lace.

Introducing Minx Lace one of the newest laces of @brabuilders Netural Collection Bra Kits. I love that this lace is a mix of embroidery and overprinting, in such beautiful shades of brown and cream! I will admit it took alot of just staring at this beautiful lace, before I finally decided on what pattern to use. Being a Featured Artist for this lace, I wanted to hopefully show of all the intricate parts of the embroideryand overprinting, and hopefully I suceeded! I finally finished the @brabuilders August Kit of the Month! I used Watermelon fabrics and garnet findings with this kit. I converted my #blackbeautybra from @emeralderinsews into a three-part cup, plunge style using the @bra_sewing_bee class for plunges + cutting wires down. I really love how it fits. I mimicked the straps from my favorite Aubade bra - and I gotta say the support is excellent. I've got one more fitting alteration for my black beauty before I'd be satisfied - moving the apex so that I can get more forward projection. My first FO in 2022 is a matching set👙. The bra pattern is @emeralderinsews #blackbeautybra , I’m glad that I’ve finally found the right size this time, it’s my third try. Have you seen the Gatsby Liberty Bra Kit from @brabuilders yet? The Liberty London cotton fabric is such a great stable fabric to work with, and is a great addition for color/print instead of using lace. I enjoyed being the #featuredartist For this lovely set using the Liberty London cotton "Gatsby". This was the first time I have used Liberty London Cotton, and I really like how it feels and sews up! I paired the Gatsby fabric with the bronze microduplex and french blue straps. I decided to do a vertical cup seam bra using @afiatelier Equisite pattern to show off the Liberty London cotton. I love how the bronze microduplex almost has a suede look to it again the cotton. I also decided to use the new scalloped strap elastic as an accent across the top of the cups and used embroidery floss to weave throught the openings on the elastic to give it an extra pop of color. I paired the bra with the Montgomery briefs from @orange_lingerie accenting the top edge with the scalloped elastic as well. Late to the party but I have just found a contender for my favourite pattern. I really liked the look of @lilypadesigns #lusaminebrapattern when it was released but unsure it would work for me as I am in the small cup size range. I printed out all the options for my size (32dd) and after making up a paper cup I decided on the narrow bridge, upper cup 1, sling and fabric strap. It was just a test make with a small piece of lace and then I found a small piece of silk from @brabuilders which worked well with the lace and thought I would try the sling on the outside as I have seen in a lot of rtw. The cups and frame are lined with sheer cup lining except for the sling. I used scraps of lace to bring the colour into the white powernet using a small zigzag to cover the scallop edge. I have added boning to the sides. I started with the contoured fabric straps but they were too much so I just used the silk lined with medium woven interfacing which gives stability but looks delicate. I was overwhelmed with the finished result. Not just a fantastic fit but beautiful shape and so comfortable . The powernet isn’t as firm as it needs to be so it needs to be on the tightest hook and eye so I would probably go down a band size. With such a small piece of lace it had to be the @orange_lingerie #montgomerybrief I used the lovely lingerie elastic from #brabuilders for the front and their fancy fold over for the waist as this ties in with the fabric strap. I’ve done my usual adaption to enclose the back gusset. I’ve also replaced the white mesh that comes to the front with the silk. Just perfect. My new bra and knicker set is a good match for my floorboards. I used a kit from @emeralderinsews to make this #blackbeautybra I moved the strap sliders to the front and widened the position of the straps at the back. The knickers are the #montgomerybrief from @orange_lingerie I only made these once before, many years ago, and I forgot that I don’t like the construction order. I remembered in time to enclose the side seams, but not the back crotch seam. I had no trouble sewing the bra, handling the lace and tulle well, and mostly remembering to change thread colours as required. The knickers were another story, with the elastic causing much grief. My thread kept shredding, plenty of skipped stitches and quite a few birds nests under my needle plate. In the end, I had to sew the elastic with fabric always on top, not underneath. Just making note, because I bought quite a few metres of this elastic.

Trying out the #gracebra from @annieandmyras with some embroidered tulle that I got off Etsy last year from a seller in Estonia… sadly don’t remember the name. As this was a test of the pattern, it’s made with a hodgepodge of supplies, some from @bramakerssupply and some from @themakehousevic (picot hoop elastics on the underarms). Verdict on the pattern: 8/10 will sew again. It runs generous on sizing but the cup shaping is a lovely teardrop. I concur with the pattern note that it wouldn’t be great for A or B cup wearers but hey, y’all get way more selection in stores. Making the scalloped edge line up was a good time. The instructions for that are pretty good. For the most part I didn’t really follow the rest of the instructions though as I have my own typical order of construction. Anyways it’s a nice pattern. I’ll save it for when I have very wide laces that will be well showcased by the tall cup shape. The panties are a mashup of the #montgomerybrief from @orange_lingerie and my own self-drafted back panel. I used #angelskinfabric from @discoveryfabrics because it’s a scrap I had on hand. As for the technique on the leg elastic: You win some, you … concede some. Despite picking up more of this dusk picot hoop elastic today, I was short by about 0.25m and I really had to stretch it out. The Angelskin fabric stretches itself easily so my tension was all over the place. I know the leg openings have the same size opening but that’s about the only thing they have in common. And since this was supposed to be just a test set, after redoing it all once I was in no mood for a second rework. It’s good enough to wear under my clothes! I do wish there were more panty patterns out there that are drafted for non-stretch elastic. I have the #mariepanties and have made them once but those aren’t really for daywear. Anyhow… it’s a set. It’s done. Onwards!

This is my dreaming of spring set.🌺🌸🌼 (I've posted this set in the past, but I didn't know what I was doing on IG - frankly I still don't know what I'm doing. It’s finally finished! I ordered the black hook and eye tape a couple of weeks ago and got my order from @brabuilders today (along with more matching elastic sets and some very nice micro Duoplex while I’ll show you on Friday night). That allowed me to finish up this bustier and panty set which I’ve been planning for at least a year, since I got this trippy gold lace fabric. It has only mechanical stretch so it was hard to make panties, and I am still not 100% happy with these. They technically fit but aren’t flattering or comfortable so what’s the point? The bustier is based on the #blackbeautybra with some pattern hacking, and then some construction techniques from the #diamondbustierpattern and some other skillz I’ve just picked up by chance. This lace is from @fabricland.canada and the silk side panels are too, via a lady on FB Marketplace who had the remnant in her stash sale recently. The gold strap elastic is from @bramakerssupply - if you order it be aware you’ll also need 3/8” hoops and sliders! The panties are #montgomerybrief pattern with power net used in one set and stretch mesh in the other, with some gold lamé stretchy fabric under a layer of stretch mesh for the gusset. I’m kind of tempted to try making gold hot pants and using this as a Wonder Woman costume. Need gold thigh-high boots too. Putting it out there in case the Internet can provide - size 9.5/41?

After I wore my last #devonshirebra by @orange_lingerie and few times, I really wanted to make another one - because its really comfy and fits so great! . I wanted to finally try some of my tulle lace I ordered from China some months ago. I changed the vertical seam cup into a dart cup so I didn't have to cut up the lace. It worked so well 😍 . To finish this luxe set I made a matching #montgomerybrief also by @orange_lingerie . I love that it's possible to use smaller remnants of the unelastic lace and make it into a perfectly matching set by using the same powernet for the back as for the bra. . Woohoo! First Set of April💙💓💙 Just realized I used a classic primary color triad😁 Pulling out that color theory 💪 with another #classicbra from @bramakerssupply and the #montgomerybrief from @orange_lingerie Added a long tapered strap to the bra and learned how to enclose the back gusset seams of the brief for this set. I tried out some new panties patterns for my new Valentine lingerie set 💕 Normally I use my favorite panties patterns again and again, because I know they fit me well and I like the model. But lately I wanted to try some new patterns and so I did.
