A @orange_lingerie #fenwaybra made with a @bwear.se kit. (The power net matches the duoplex! How cool is that!) This is something I made over the summer, but it's still super pretty. The mix of geometric elements with floral is right up my alley. Thanks to everyone who checked in on me this past week. Physically, I'm better. Though the fatigue, brain fog, and emotional stress are extreme. I would compare it to pregnancy, but way worse. Today I decided to try make the @orange_lingerie Fenway bra that I made the Mock-up of last week. I got the basic construction done including putting the cups in and the wire casing. I want white accents and have to decide where to use white and where to use blue. Working on the foam cups for my #fenwaybra muslin. I made the one on the right before I remembered I wanted to stabilize the top. For the left one, I cut a 1/2” strip non-stretch cup lining and held it under the foam edge while I was serging, and then trimmed off any excess. Two helpful resources I found: a PDF from Threads Magazine called Create a Foam-Cup Bra by Norma Loehr (of Orange Lingerie) and Primrose Dawn’s YouTube video titled Desiree Bra Pattern Hack - Rolled Edge Foam Cup. Yes, I am a massive nerd 🤓 and I’m enjoying learning about bras and sharing what I come across in my research. Have you seen the Hugs for Your Jugs blog posts on the physics of bras? Fascinating.

Made a test cup from the #fenwaybra pattern, and it fits pretty well! Size 30DD using Emerald Erin’s Orange underwire in 36. I added 3/8” each to the front and side to fit the wire but it should have been more like 5/8”. I’m going to raise the seam connecting the upper and lower cup by 1/8” for a bit more coverage with foam. Next up, a full muslin with the adjustments.

Another set added to my wardrobe. It's the 5th set I made for my new body. My plan is to make at least 7 (ideally 9) sets this year so I have undergarments to wear out and about. I made a Fenway months ago and absolutely loved it. Instead of trying to modify and test all my older patterns that haven't been modified, I thought I would make something that I already tested and modified for fit. I still have the Black Beauty and Devonshire bralette to fix and modify but that's for another day. Pattern: #fenwaybra by @orange_lingerie . All my mods and size can be found in the previous post for this pattern. I'm pretty sure it's a size 38D. I did change how I completed the seams for this bra, I didn't encase the raw edges, instead I opt to layer them over each other so they stay as flat as possible. Today was a bra mending and finishing UFO bra day. This pic is 3 of the bras which got mended/tweaked. Top pink one is the Orange Lingerie Fenway partial band bra. I did not like the narrower straps I had used so substituted for wider pink elastic. Not in pic but did the same thing to another Fenway with new 3/4 inch black straps. What strap width do you like? I am finding I prefer the wider 3/4 inch. 5/8” is Ok but 3/4” is much more comfy. Not currently a fan of skinny straps. Middle lilac and white lace bra which is the Classic from Pinup Girls got a tweak with the hook & eye…….. finally. Now I may wear it! Bottom turquoise bra got new black straps. Wider and firmer elastic so I am a happy camper. This one is the Freya from Pin up Girls and is a firm favourite pattern. I have made 7 Freyas to date. There were a total of 6 bras worked on today. Productive day and I have now cleared the lingerie to-do basket. YAY! Tomorrow: I think I am going to gather together the supplies to make the Odessa corset at the Bra Bee. I have never made a corset before and honestly dont know if it will be my thing. However, I figured I would not like a long line bra but I actually do quite like the ones I have made so far. It’s been a little while but I found a moment and the right mood to do a little sewing today. Used a bra kit I picked up from @pitttrading a few months ago (with a little fold over elastic borrowed from a @thelingeriesociety sub box). Going back to the @orange_lingerie #fenwaybra for this one, only I hacked it to use a monowire! This is not a hard alteration... I eliminated the bridge and adjusted the upper cup piece to be a bit longer and reach the monowire center. Again, this is one I made a while ago... I haven't really been able to make much recently. I can't remember where I got this lace, but it made a really pretty (and comfortable!) bra that goes with anything without showing. Some more updates on my continuing health saga... it turns out my stroke may have been due to more significant underlying issues, and not the actual issue itself. I've got more testing and doctors appointments in my future to actually figure out proper treatments. I realised I never posted this finished bra, after all the input I got from insta 😅 I love this variation of #fenwaybra for me with the longer triangle upper piece, it gives much more comfortable coverage and support. #braugust2022 (catchup!) Day 3: Behind the seams. I know if a bra isn't comfortable, I won't wear it. Underwire channeling doesn't always stop the ends of wires rubbing uncomfortably by the end of the day, and my wires are just a tad too short to reach under the facing elastic of the underarm. Also, in a frameless bra, bra tulle edges can become a bit sharp on the bridge & the base of the cups. Solution? Add facing elastic to all the rough edges. This bra is super comfy, I'm thinking of covering all my channeling with it! . . During the 2020 lockdown, I unexpectedly inherited an old sewing machine. It marked my first venture into the world of sewing, becoming my anchor during those challenging times. Now, nearly a year into this creative journey, I’ve still got plenty to perfect, but my newfound love for sewing lingerie has become a passion I can’t seem to put down. So, after a gentle push from @sewingmonster I tried making a bra again. It was a few years since last time. And after making the panties, they were just screaming for a matching partner. The bra is a modified version of #fenwaybra were I added a foam lining. I did not find bra straps in matching color as the fold over edge elastic, so I just attached whites from another bra. I seriously don’t think it would work so well because I used jersey, but it actually turned out quite well! #braugust2023
