Third and final attempt at this post this morning. Maybe it I shouldn’t be posting today? This is my personal toile for the Lexington bra. I love this pattern and her nod to the vintage cross-your-heart bras. I have many a few of these and they are beautiful, but this is the first one I’m making for myself. I have to make some additional adjustments to the height of the cup, as well as the underarm and band. Same same but different 😃. The Soft Braganza (soft bra extravaganza, but I keep saying Braganza - so Braganza it is 🙃) sewing escapades continue. Another wearable fugly. This is the #lexingtonbra by @orange_lingerie. I do use the term Fugly loosely lol. I am extremely low on all my elastics, rings and sliders so I’m just making do with what I have. This means it’s not quite as the pattern is made up - it calls for 3m of strap elastic, but I didn’t have nearly that amount - so I used bottom band elastic and underarm elastic in those places instead. It uses cut n sew foam for the cups and is fully lined. It calls for boning in the side seam for structure, I didn’t have any - so left it out but also probs wouldn’t have added it as I need as little pressure as I can get. I made size 36C (size range 30A to 40DD) - it actually fits pretty well - & feels quite supportive. Tumour Boob (right side) is still really swollen (TMI 🤔🤣???), and apparently will also shrink with radiation. But at the moment, I have a tiny bit of a double boob happening on that side - once the swelling and shrinkage kicks in, this shouldn’t be an issue. I have in the past added more room to the lower half of my bras by doing a split lower cup, and I think I will still benefit from this in these soft cup bras/bralettes going forward. Quite keen to make this again without cut n sew foam, and treating the lower and and underarm like a traditional bra with turned under elastics. And because I’m really struggling with lifting my right arm - I added the sliders to the front so it was easier for me to make adjustments when wearing rather than taking it off, adjusting and putting it back on - I know this is not a new thing, but lightbulb moment 🤩, I may do this with all my future bra makes. The fabric is a knit fabric I bought to make a top - but when it’s sewn, the white base comes through the needle holes and drives me a bit nutty, so perfect for my smalls which no one sees. Except Hubs - but he’d actually rather…. Oh I am not going there 🤣🤣🤣 . . .

This design is unbelievably successful. It's comfortable and supportive. I'm so happy about it. Especially the strap elastic for the band, it's firmer than most of the band elastic. Make it ideal for soft bra. Give it an extra support. The drafting was very successful, but my sewing went to disaster😅 I broke two microtex needles, tangled thread (tension problem) and skipping stitches. At the end, I changed to universal needle, it still skipping. Do you have any suggestion on which needle works better with scuba fabric and thick layers? And what can I do to stop skipping stitches? I’ve been experimenting with activewear fabrics all summer. I made a #sweetsixtenbralette (needs wider straps to work for me), a #lexingtonbra (needs extensive alterations to work for me), a #cocosportsbra (needs minor alterations to work for me. It’s taken a while but finally back to full speed spurred on by some great new pattern releases this week. The first is the #orangelingerie #munroebriefs designed to match the #lexingtonbra I made a few weeks ago. Whipped up in a couple of hours last night. The hardest part was choosing the size to make. According to the chart I have size 0 hips but an 8 waist then further complicated by the fact the lace had to be cut against the stretch so it could be used (picture included). So I went with the 4 and just works by using the length of waist elastic for the 8. No side seams and a high waist make for a very flattering shape. Love the little touches such as ribbon over the join of the waist elastic. For a test make pretty fabulous and a very glamorous retro feel using @evielaluve lace. 💙 Blue Valentine 💙 . SO!! I got very inspired by some bra kits my friend @kristinaalary gifted to me when she was de-stashing. I paired the blue satin with lace I was gifted from another friend and the result is incredibly striking!! . I used the #lexingtonbra by @orange_lingerie in a 32DD (way too small, I’ll get into that below) For the panty I used the #vanneaupanties by @hariitolingerie in a size Large. . First, I am so visually happy with this set!! I think it’s graphic and impressive with the colour choice. I love how the fabrics work together 🥰 . I do have fit issues with the Bra (too small in the upper cup, and I knew that going in so it’s all on me) and with the panty (I just need to alter the pattern per. Alteration instructions provided in the pattern). . For the pany I simply need to lengthen the rise and I’m sure my fit issues will resolve. With a high cut panty I like it to clear my hips and sit right on the waist, and I have really long hips 😝 . I do have plans to roll this set into a burlesque routine. With adding more straps to the panty and adding some skin tone crystals to the mesh bits, I really think this will be beautiful on stage. Also it matches my GIANT fans I had upgraded by @donna.touch a few years ago! . I probably wouldn't have chosen a picot strap elastic for this but I actually like it in the end?? There's a couple extra steps I'll do in the next one for a better finish Size I made was 30A and it's small all over. I think I need 1 size up in cup volume and 1-2 sizes up in band (this is already +3cm to each band wing). But overall I'm really impressed with the wireless design! A bit of side seam boning, foam cups & cross-your-heart elastic is surprisingly effective! For reference, my measurements are 80cm FB and 70cm UB.
