#heatherblazer by @fridaypatterncompany in a thrifted canvas that I’ve had for four years 🫣 The most annoying part of sewing this blazer was the fact that I went to the fabric store three separate times and somehow bought the wrong amount of interfacing each time lol? Once I got everything I needed, I was able to whip this blazer up in about 20 hours. These days I don’t really care how long a project takes me. I’d much rather it be well made than done quickly. This was my first time sewing a jacket with a lining. I enjoyed it more that I anticipated mainly because I hate finishing seams and the lining eliminates the need to do so. I’ll definitely be making another blazer in the future! I have a really beautiful burnt orange linen that I am considering for the next one 🥰 I also made the slip this week! It’s the #BellevueCamisole by @orange_lingerie. I’m going to post more about my thoughts on this pattern soon but long story short, I am obsessed 🤩

I forgot to post these to my grid last fall. I cut into the remnants of my mom’s sari to toile the #bellevuecamisole and #richdaleshorts. It was only my second time cutting something on the bias and dealing with slippery fabric. I think the fabric is some sort of polyester with a sheen like silk. Anyway, I starched the heck out of it before I began working on it which helped a great deal with my confidence ;-) And I loved how it turned out. I used the continuous method of making the bias strip. I feel like this method does make efficient use of the fabric because you’re making the strips out of a square. The straps do end up having a lot many seams than if you were to cut the bias strips out directly on the fabric. The shorts came together nicely as well. As I already had another pair of pajamas from the same sari, I gave these to my sister so she can have something of mom’s. I have some fuschia pink silk charmeuse that I plan to make the next pair from very soon. #sewinglingerie #orangelingerie #sandiegosews

I have now sewn three sets of pajamas during quarantine, but these by far are the most luxe ✨ in 100% silk. Something about staying home all the time really inspired me to up my sleepwear 😆. I enjoyed the slow process of making these: hand cutting out the lace appliqués, stitching them together, hand basting them on to the lace, french seams etc... 💜🧡 silk #bellevueCamisole 🧡💜 . Today I tried this camisole pattern by @orange_lingerie - I want to make it from the peach silk satin I made the set from a few days ago. But to make sure it will fit, I made this version from another stretch silk satin. I bought it at Textil Müller here in Vienna and it was such a bargain 😅 so I bought a lot of it and therefore had enough to spare to make this wearable toile. . I made the top a bit smaller because it was too loose around my body and it ended up fitting perfectly around my upper body and too small around my hips🙈🥲 I really like how it looks, and I can wear it, but it doesn't look that nice when I wear it, because it clings to my hips and it doesn't flow nicely as it should. . I'm thinking about making it a crop top now, so I can still wear it 😅 it's good I made a toile though, now I know where to make it smaller and where to leave it bigger 😋 .
