I forgot to post these to my grid last fall. I cut into the remnants of my mom’s sari to toile the #bellevuecamisole and #richdaleshorts. It was only my second time cutting something on the bias and dealing with slippery fabric. I think the fabric is some sort of polyester with a sheen like silk. Anyway, I starched the heck out of it before I began working on it which helped a great deal with my confidence ;-) And I loved how it turned out. I used the continuous method of making the bias strip. I feel like this method does make efficient use of the fabric because you’re making the strips out of a square. The straps do end up having a lot many seams than if you were to cut the bias strips out directly on the fabric. The shorts came together nicely as well. As I already had another pair of pajamas from the same sari, I gave these to my sister so she can have something of mom’s. I have some fuschia pink silk charmeuse that I plan to make the next pair from very soon. #sewinglingerie #orangelingerie #sandiegosews

I haven’t had time to post anything for #braugust2022 due to an unexpected but very exciting twist in my life but just wanted to share the absolutely fantastic #ariesbra from @gravitybygrandy who is offering today’s prize. I’ve made all three versions matching with different underwear. I was a tester for the pattern and I made the green set using a monowire. The lace was from @bratastic_fabrics and the green tulle was from @tailormadeshop. I paired with the @orange_lingerie #kingstonthong replicating the colour blocking. The animal print set uses regular wires. The pink leopard lingerie satin and lycra is also from @bratastic_fabrics and the cheetah lace is from @emeralderinsews. For the non wired version I have used the teardrop embroidered and printed tulle from a kit from @sewingchest which includes both all over and gallon lace. I have had the fabric for a while but I was struggling to find a pattern that wouldn’t have the teardrops going in different directions in the cup. The #gbglaries is perfect. I think it has a vintage look so I adapted the #orangelingerie #richdaleshorts to use the scallop edge at the hem and the full height of the lace at the side which I did for my @bra_sewing_bee French knicker class.
