What a day. Got to meet my favorite artist today, @mrjacobbanks , while wearing go to me-made. I’ve worn this jumpsuit/overalls slightly dressed up, dressed down, and layered, so I love the versatility. This wasn’t an easy make, so a toile was 100% necessary to get the fit right. It’s been a while since I made this and it was before I started taking notes on each make so I can’t remember what modifications I made, but I know there were a few. The zipper instructions were really confusing to me at the time so I remember just winging it and hoping for the best, especially because I couldn’t find a zipper the exact length I needed. Sloane Overalls, hot off the machine, still unhemmed. I’m so happy with how these turned out; they’re exactly how I pictured them. I bought the pattern as a gift to myself on my last birthday, and since my next birthday is now only 3 weeks away I was determined to make them. I cut a straight size 8 and lengthened the bodice by 4cm (1.5”), and that’s it. I had to get a longer zipper because I lengthened the bodice. Fabric is 10oz bull denim from @fabricdotcom and pretty rose gold hardware is from @whosayssew.com_supplies. The pattern instructions are very detailed and easy to understand. Since putting them on for the first time yesterday I’ve adjusted the straps and there’s no side armpit squish anymore 😆. They were also quite stiff when I put them on, but have softened after wearing them for a few hours. I’m in love with them, and am planning to make an indigo denim pair.. or maybe corduroy?! Super in love with these! So I bought this fabric in May, and had intended on making a different jumpsuit, but I never could quite convince myself to do it, so .... I stumbled across this pattern, knew it was the one and promptly cut it. It’s like a rom com really, I didn’t even make a toile and they fit perfectly. Better to be lucky than good I guess 😉 Outfit: Sloane Overalls from Victory patterns. @victorypatterns I cut a straight 12. I had to make some hardware adjustments because of Covid, so my zipper is the appropriate length, but opens at the bottom so I had to shift it down just a bit, which resulted in the sweetheart neckline instead of the straight across. I also had to sub D ring since I couldn’t find rectangular ones, but a strap is a strap 🤷🏻‍♀️ The shirt is from Macy’s circa 2010? Fabric is Robert Kaufman 21 Wale Corduroy in ginger from The Confident Stitch. @theconfidentstitch. I did a thing or two! I managed to sew these Sloane overalls with some serious scrap busting skills and pushed it to the limit so much that I didn’t have enough for pockets. What to do when you don’t have enough?...contrast 😜 The bodice is fully lined and I added trim down the side seams to bring out more of the coral. Thanks to my friend @katiekortmanart for gifting me with both fabrics (the blue is all the way from Bahrain) Btw they fit like a glove 😍 This is my 2nd pair of @victorypatterns #sloaneoveralls and I can’t get enough of them.
