It’s the last day of adult camp for this summer. 🥺😩🥺 Yesterday @fast.hyena and I wore @criswoodsews dresses and big buckle @birkenstock sandals. New pattern alert! @criswoodsews recently came out with her #criswoodsewscasita dress and as usual I’m in love. Her patterns are always my style. Cozy, flowy, and inspired by The cultura de México. This dress is a similar cut to a huipil. It’s got a nice squared neck, and gathered seams in back. I used this fabulous linen print by @blackbirdfabrics The Only adjustments made were using my own pocket pattern, and bringing out the dress a tad wider for more ease and flow. Next time I use this pattern I’ll go even bigger for cozy PJs! Made the @criswoodsews casita dress using an assortment of thrifted or second hand fabric. I also adjusted the length because I like a knee length hem. Now thinking of other fabric combos for this cute dress. #criswoodsewscasita

This was originally a midi dress, but I decided I would probably wear it more as a top. And I was right! This little top was “self drafted”, using a few of my patterns. The square neck of the Daydream is turned 90 degrees to become a diamond shape, the Casita yoke is lowered slightly and the lower portion gathered on both sides. The sleeve is the Parasol sleeve with elastic at the hem. ☺️👍🏼 If you have a few of my patterns, feel free to combine them! Make something unique to you. 💘 My dream/goal is to publish a big book with all my patterns, and a bunch of mix n’ match hacks. Wouldn’t that be cool?! Last day of #memademay day 31. I think this month went by fast! This is the #criswoodsewscasita dress. Pattern by @criswoodsews I spent most of today in my workout clothes (me made tank and rtw sweats) and finally showered up and am heading out for groceries. A litmus test of sorts for me and deciding future makes is can I wear it out running errands. I love making and wearing sundresses for summer and have been trying to make sure I wear them. This and all of my Cris Wood patterns are comfy and casual enough for being out and about and not feel like I’m being too fancy. I do think this one may end up being hemmed up a few inches too now that I’ve put it on. It seems to be hitting my calf mid way which makes me feel short lol (edited to add:check my stories- just removed 3” from length and it’s much nicer for my short frame.) What I’ve taken away from Me Made May is I did good by my pledge to wear daily and only take pics when I had the bandwidth to do so. I’m happy with my closet and will continue to be mindful of future makes. It’s been fun seeing so many faces in my feed again this month and I hope if you’re able to continue to post, you do. The Casita dress is a nod to my heritage. 🇲🇽 It was inspired by the traditional garment, the huipil: A popover garment with a square neckline and short cap length sleeves that’s essentially a folded rectangle. Unlike the garment that inspired it, The Casita (little house) Dress has cuffs at the end of the sleeve and a yoke in front and back. I really love the gathered back on this #CriswoodSewsCasita (hacked into shirt). It takes what is a totally comfortable silhouette for me (a boxy top) and makes it a little special and a little different from the same old. This kid chose Scary Mary from a Roblox game as his costume choice. Shout-out to #criswoodsewscasita for being amazingly size inclusive! I took it all the way down for a tiny 8yo. Finally sewed a @criswoodsews Casita! Tested out the square neck with scraps first so I didn't make mistakes on this wool jacquard from @stonemountainfabric. I bought the fabric with the intention of sewing pants but I love the drape and comfort of the dress. Definitely gonna serge these seams, (once I get a serger) lots of fraying going on. Had to do some calculations to figure out length and width of pieces, which made the experience more fun! All squares and rectangles here.
