Bye, bye 2022. Hello 2023. 🎆 As every year the last one had it's up and downs. One of my favorite moments was spending three days in pretty cold Paris with my boyfriend. We ate our way through the city and I got to wear my Traveller coat (which I finished just in time for the trip). One thing that kept me going through the downs was knitting and sewing (who would have thought so?). I spend a lot of hours with needles, yarn and fabric. I challengend myself every now and then and learned new techniques. And actually I even succeeded sewing a pair of jeans. Actually don't know why I feared them so much. For 2023 I hope there will be lot of time to spend with my favourite crafts and I also have some goals while crafting: 1. Killing my fabric and yarn stash instead of letting it grow even more. 2. Don't decide on a new project impulsively, so going to spend more time on planning and preparing. 3. And last but not least making a project book for the whole year. I actually don't like the fact that I often forget what I made throughout a year and hope this way I will be reminded of every single project. Introducing my proudest make so far! This coat took me several long but very enjoyable weeks where I learnt a great deal about basting, tacking, and the power of steam. I absolutely love the result and am so proud of myself, I can't wait to wear it when the weather cools down! This is the @bellalovespatterns Traveller Coat in a size 10. I shortened the coat and sleeves by an inch but they were the only alterations made. The instructions are very thorough (over 50 pages!) and Bella was so lovely and quick in getting back to me when I got stuck on a step. I learnt a heap making this and was so enamored with the instructions that I went and bought the rest of Bella's catalogue. Fabric for the coat is a delicious cinnamon coloured wool from @wearethefabricstore. Lining is a scribble print silk twill, also from The Fabric Store. I found the perfect match Merchant and Mills buttons from @weftandwarpfabrics so bought them out of them (sorry Matthew!). Side note: I bought a new Bernina sewing machine at the start of the year from @sewsimplecanberra and am in love! The cow print coat in action ❤️ Surprisingly this fabric was really easy to work with, I was not expecting it as this is the first time I work with a fur like this one. Before I only tried teddy fur. You only need to be careful with ironing, I was ironing it only from the wrong side ad placing a towel underneath 👌 If you need to iron the right side of the fabric you can’t do it, I would recommend steaming it on a distance, without touching the fur. The latest collection of patterns by @bellalovespatterns was released today. I was lucky to be one of the testers for 3 of these patterns and I am in love!! The Traveller coat is exquisite! If you want to dip your toe into tailoring this is the pattern for you. The pattern itself is simple but there is a lot of detail in it that will result in a coat you will treasure forever! I used a coating fabric I picked up in @stitchodyssey destash a while ago. The Interstellar Hoodie is not just a standard hoodie. The shoulder yoke and 2 piece sleeve elevate this loungewear into something more tailored. I used a French Terry from @the_rag_shop for the hoody. It’s a nice lightweight so perfect for spring. The Luna Joggers again take a basic piece of loungewear and elevate it to something not-so-basic! The pin tuck detail at the front and clever pocket construction are amazing. I used a Bamboo brushed French Terry from @sistermintaka for these. It is super soft on the inside and again, not too heavy for spring. If you would like to up your sewing skills I can’t recommend these patterns enough! Isabela has taken a lot of knowledge she has learnt from her time in the industry and added them to these patterns.
