I have a bunch of sewing plans for 2022, but thought I’d share my #makenine, which are: 1. The @bellalovespatterns #blptravellercoat - I’m probably most excited to plan and sew this one! 2. A bunch of short sleeved turtlenecks - I have the #riseturtleneck pattern so I’ll use that, but I have worn my one from uniqlo to actual death so I desperately need them. 3. The @bellalovespatterns #blpinterstellar hoodie, in this #jenniferbouron galaxy print French terry from @neridahansenfabrics, because due to their names I just know they are meant to be. 4. I have been slowly putting together a king sized version of the #tinytilesquilt from @purlsoho - I’ve been making all the tiles from scraps and have cut 500 of the estimated 1200 I need- but I really want to get into gear with this and finish it this year. 5. The #azukiworkpants from @yuki_wafflepatterns - I love the look of these so much and I want some utility pants for work, so one of the big projects for me this year is to toile and fit these pants. 6. I love both the #gilberttop and the #reynoldsdress from @helens__closet and am super keen to make this hack Helen shared for a shirtdress that combines the two. I’m planning to use the @neridahansenfabrics x @field_day_studio cotton linen blend in Gather - this is probably first up as I want it for term 1. 7. I have wanted to make the @paper_theory #olyashirt since forever, and I finally bit the bullet and got the pattern. I’m gonna make it in a viscose rayon from @seeyouatsixfabric ‘s last collection. 8. I’m going to continue my project of refining the fit for a perfect bra, and make a bunch of undies as well because they’re good quick practice for getting better at knit fabrics. 9. And lucky last, I’m going to make another pair of #darlowpants (pattern by my beloved @inthefolds ) in this Westwood washed linen that I picked up from @theclothshopivanhoe last month. I haven’t shared them on here, but the Darlows I made this year have been my favourite thing to wear, so I want another pair. Cannot recommend this pattern enough (I’ll try and remember to share them soon). So they’re the big plans! Here’s to a year of good sewing!

Tie dye lounge set…nah I didn’t do the dying, though I wish I did. Made from #blpinterstellar sweatshirt and #blpluna joggers but made them shorts instead. The knit is super soft and thin which kinda works for sitting around at home. For the #blpluna joggers…I really love how the pockets are done here and have used the technique for every pocket install after this. It’s really good. I think I’ll need to get the #blpflor dress next. It looks amazing in that lilac. CAMPING reminiscing on my school camp days at Ulswater and Pooley Bridge years since I’ve been can’t believe how much it has changed! Also a lot like the weather and clothing between us all. Choosing fabric that matches is key to my wardrobe. I also realised I needed more plains as I always gravitate to beautiful printed fabric. I could never curate capsule wardrobe. A closer look at my @bellalovespatterns Interstellar Hoodie and Luna Joggers. No surprise this is what I am wearing today (with my trusty Rya for added warmth and comfort). I have wore both these items so much since making them, it’s maybe the first time I wore a tracksuit on the school run! But I feel so put together in them compared to all my other loungewear. The Hoodie has some really nice details that sets it apart. The shoulder yoke and 2 piece sleeve are so different to any other loungewear. The sleeve facing is a really neat finish and the twill tape around the neck adds a really nice detail. There is also 2 pattern pieces for the hemband- 1 for ribbing (with more stretch) and one for a hemband in the same fabric. I made mine in a Black French Terry from @the_rag_shop it’s a great weight for coming into summer, I have already paired it with viscose culottes and a midi skirt. There are loads of colours available and I will definitely be making one in Dove Grey next. The joggers have just as many details to make them stand out. I love the front pleat detail, and the pockets have a really nice construction and are held in place with twill tape on the inside so the don’t sag or flap about. I made these in the softest Bamboo Cotton Stretch Fleece from @sistermintaka I can’t describe the softness of this fabric, it’s so cosy but again lightweight and so perfect for spring. Again, I think I might have to add a few more colours of this to my collection! There is 20% when you buy 2 or more of the new @bellalovespatterns collection. Yesterday I launched a small collection of sewing patterns, but I don't intend to talk the whole week about them, but I thought to introduce myself because I got lots new lovely people following and I realized I haven't done it in ages and a lot of you don't know me. So many people were saying "why have I never heard of you?" Which is really sweet, but I think I know why. I'm the type of person who posts and runs away 🙈 I'm super shy to post on Instagram and there are days I don't even open this account - I'm guessing it's not good if you have a business account, right? 😆 I find it super tiring to promote patterns, as that doesn't come naturally to me. I am not a sales person, I am a tailor ✂️ Ok so, I'm Isabela and I have been living in London for over ten years now. I'm originally from Brazil and I come from a big family where the women were dressmakers and the men were carpenters. I learnt to sew when I was a small kid, I don't remember my age because I was VERY young. No one ever formally taught me how to sew, I learnt by watching my mum sewing for her customers. But I do remember the first time I used an industrial overlocker and I was 7 years old (mum taught me to watch out for the blade!) I have I always made things to sell, barbie clothes, bags, children's clothers, wedding dresses, bespoke clothes and now sewing patterns. Even though I always use "we" in my sewing instructions, it is really only me Isabela doing everything. Bella Loves Patterns is my part-time job and passion. I work in London as tailor in a high end alteration department, where our moto is " everything is possible " and if not you bet we will make it possible!! In the bespoke alteration business, I'm very familiar with unpicking and unpicking brand new Louis Vuittons, Balmain, Maxmara, Dolce & Gabbana and the list goes on....😆 There's so much you can learn from unpicking and making it look like the original, see how it was constructed, I'm always fascinated by construction details 😍 ........................ I can't fit everything in one post so will post the continuation in a second post later 😉

Der Schnitt ist der #blpinterstellar von @bellalovespatterns Beim Kauf des E-Books war ich ein bisschen überrascht. Man musste sich zwischen zwei Größengruppen entscheiden. Diese bezogen sich allerdings nicht auf die Konfektionsgröße, sondern auf die Körpergröße. Hierbei unterscheidet sich einzig und allein die Länge des Hoodies. In der größeren Gruppe ist der fertige Hoodie immer 3 cm länger. Allerdings muss ich sagen, für meinen Geschmack könnte er noch 2 cm länger seien. If there's one thing I needed in my wardrobe it was a hoodie! I've been wanting to make the #blpinterstellar by @bellalovespatterns for a long time, and finally made one to fill in the missing garment in my closet. The Interstellar has some really interesting details, like a single front dart on the sleeves, and an angled shoulder yoke. There are som really detailed instructions too, which makes this hoodie feel tailored, compared to other hoodies and sweatshirts I've made before. I made no alterations to the pattern but If I'm making it again I'm following the finished measurements chart instead of the size chart, cause it has a very loose fit that I would like to be a bit smaller. The @mindthemaker fabric I bought at @metermeterdk was perfect for this hoodie as it's a double interlock jersey which, on one side has a diagonal texture, and a plain interlock on the other side. It is slightly heavier than a regular interlock, and it has a firm non-elastic stretch, which means that it only stretches a bit, something I find very suitable for for sweatshirts. I chose to make the angled shoulder yoke, the inside of the hood and the hem band with the diagonal texture and the rest with the plain interlock. This made it even more special! Possibly my last make of 2021??!! This is the #BLPInterstellar from @bellalovespatterns and it is SO cosy - helped by the fact I made it using fluffy backed sweatshirting from @higgsandhiggs This was always intended to be a wearable toile, so I skipped a few of the more couture-like steps (top stitching, twill taping the neck seam etc). Really happy with how it turned out, although I may do a FBA next time as the back is longer than the front, but as this is very much a keeping-warm-at-home hoodie it really isn’t an issue. I made a straight size 16 - my measurements put me at an 18 but the final measurements of the 16 fit me, and I’m just starting exercising again and my shape normally changes quite quickly, so went for the smaller size. I’m also wearing my @bellalovespatterns #BLPApollo joggers that I made a while ago (and are my favourite joggers pattern). I am very pleased with this outfit! I love the mix of the casual hoodie with the floaty floral. Easy to throw on and very comfy. It’s also a nice way to transition into lighter spring garments and stay cosy. The latest collection of patterns by @bellalovespatterns was released today. I was lucky to be one of the testers for 3 of these patterns and I am in love!! The Traveller coat is exquisite! If you want to dip your toe into tailoring this is the pattern for you. The pattern itself is simple but there is a lot of detail in it that will result in a coat you will treasure forever! I used a coating fabric I picked up in @stitchodyssey destash a while ago. The Interstellar Hoodie is not just a standard hoodie. The shoulder yoke and 2 piece sleeve elevate this loungewear into something more tailored. I used a French Terry from @the_rag_shop for the hoody. It’s a nice lightweight so perfect for spring. The Luna Joggers again take a basic piece of loungewear and elevate it to something not-so-basic! The pin tuck detail at the front and clever pocket construction are amazing. I used a Bamboo brushed French Terry from @sistermintaka for these. It is super soft on the inside and again, not too heavy for spring. If you would like to up your sewing skills I can’t recommend these patterns enough! Isabela has taken a lot of knowledge she has learnt from her time in the industry and added them to these patterns. Just finished another interstellar hoodie! For some reason I’ve never shared them here before, so here we go. I made the burgundy one first (2021). A year later I made the green one oversized, so I could see if it would be a good fit for my husband. Early 2023 I made him the ecru one for his birthday. Same size, but lengthened the body with 5cm and the sleeves with 3cm. And this week I made the yellow one. Very similar to the burgundy hoodie, but the fabric is a bit thicker. And really fluffy on the inside. Really can’t go wrong with this hoodie pattern, it’s a pretty quick sew too. Sizes: Red & yellow: size 10. Green & ecru: size 18. For all of these I added ribbing cuffs (5cm excl seam allowance) onto the original sleeves, I love a long sleeve. I’ve been meaning to make some stylish loungewear and I’m very pleased to have finished these two! These are the Interstellar Hoodie pattern by @bellalovespatterns in a size 6 and the Plateau Joggers by @closetcorepatterns in a straight size 6 with a size 2 elastic length at the waist. Both are sewn in this polycotton fleece-back sweatshirt stretch knit fabric in grey-blue (MCID: 1156166) gifted to me by @minervadotcom in exchange for an article on their website (pattern choice, supplies, and opinion my own. I’m especially happy with the joggers – they’re super comfortable and I love the shape!
