The story of a collaboration with 2 stunning fabrics from @wasted_fabrics I received these beautiful off white denim and pink viscose deadstock fabrics with the idea to make a pair of white jeans and a pink top to go with it. But then the Met Gala came with all those beautiful white suits and amazing tailored outfits and I was inspired to make myself a tailored suit with that white denim fabric. The #blpbilly trousers pattern from @bellalovespatterns sprang to mind immediately and I was thinking of adding a vest. But than I thought of that #burdastyle bodice I made a dress with last year and thought they would go great together. And they did!! 🤍✨ I’m so happy with how the outfit turned out. The stunning pink viscose fabric became a dress I’ll show in a next post and with the left overs I still made a top to match the trousers. I made the #sicilyslipdress pattern from @sewing.masin but than made it as a top. ✨ The white fabric of the suit is a slightly stretchy light weight denim and the pink top is made with soft pink satin viscose from @wasted_fabrics More about the white top: I fused all the pieces with fusible interfacing and added boning. I shortened the zipper to fit the back and it’s completely lined. It doesn’t slide down as much as the dress did, but because the lining is slippery and the strapless bra I’m wearing is too it sometimes slides down a tiny bit. I’m going to add some anti slip elastic as a waist stay and I hope that will do the trick. One more note: I made the legs of the trousers long to wear with heels, but that didn’t really work on the beach 😅 So the trousers seem too long, but that’s the idea 😉 #sewingisthebest #sewing #wastedfabrics #sewingmasin #bellalovespatterns #burdastyle

#Memademay2025 Day 6. These pants are one of the most worn items in my wardrobe, me made or otherwise. They're the #blpbilly by @bellalovespatterns in a magical fabric from @tessutifabrics called 'reformed' that doesn't need ironing, and drapes like a dream. I used the top-down center-out fitting method (thanks to the excellent instructional videos from @thecrookedhem ) and I'm so happy with how they turned out. The fabric was hard to work with and I had to change needles frequently (I'm still not sure what needle would be best 🤔) but it was worth it. After about two years of planning my Billy trousers are here. Slow fashion ❤️ The pattern is by @bellalovespatterns and it is so good! I made no changes, even the hem length is according to pattern. The size is 6 in height group 160 cm. The divine navy blue wool twill was gifted to me by @murukahvi (thank you so much, dear ❤️❤️) and it is perfect for the pattern. Second pair of Bella Loves Patterns Billy trousers. This time I cut a size 10 after my first try at a 12. They are pretty much perfect on my shape. I might add 1/2” to the back rise for the comfort of the 🍑 but honestly I’m so delighted. The instructions will SPOIL you for any future trouser patterns. They are so precise and use photographs which I often prefer. Every step is considered making these an involved but very achievable make, from welt pockets to bias bound pockets and seams. My favourite detail was the instruction to iron the crease in as soon as you’ve assembled the pleats. So chic! This won’t be my last Billy or my last BLP pattern! Shout out also to this old gold wool blend fabric. It’s called a Terrylene I think, and it is just made for trousers. Wool for warmth, poly for drape and lack of creasing. And the colour is just spectacular. @simplyfabricsbrixton is rapidly becoming my top fabric shop of choice these days, partly because they don’t have everything but what they do have is sp special so you almost have to listen to the fabric to see what it tells you to make. Have already worn these to parties, work and drinks since finishing them in early Dec. I dreamed up these @bellalovespatterns #blpbilly last December. I wanted some brown wool pants for my winter wardrobe. It’s deep into spring now but I am still so happy they are finally done. I’ve been sewing for years now but I haven’t made many tailored trousers. The instructions were super clear and easy to follow. I highly recommend this pattern! I’m really happy with the fit. The fabric is wool crepe from @moodfabrics . The fabric has a nice weight and drape, and isn’t very prone to wrinkling. The lining and binding is China silk. These trousers have been a looooong time coming and come with a bit of a story… 🙈 This is my 4th pair of @bellalovespatterns Billy Trousers. My first pair were made in a black wool crepe and honestly I have wore them to death! The fit is perfect, they can be dressed up or down and are super comfy. When @lamazifabrics got this Deadstock Wool Crepe in I snapped it up immediately for another pair. I started making them last year! For a pair of trousers that I was so excited to wear I still can’t believe it’s taken me this long to finish them. I brought them along to a sewing day when I started them and managed to sew the first dart wrong twice 🤦🏼‍♀️ the next time I was working on them I sewed the inside leg seam inside out (realising after it was beautifully pressed) the next time I brought them along to a sewing day I discovered I had taken the zip from the pouch they were stored in and used it for something else… can you see were this is going 😂 Finally, I had them at the sewing retreat last weekend. I got the zip inserted and moved on to the waistband. I thought I had understitched and graded the waistband on the wrong side. Turns out I hadn’t, I had attached the inner binding to the wrong side 🙄 again, I only realised after I had unpicked and redone the understitching 😮‍💨 wool crepe is not easy to unpick by the way! Am I happy I took the time each time to go back and fix each mistake properly? Absolutely! I will wear these trousers so much and what makes them even more special is the beautiful finish on the inside. I had to do it justice. I’m not saying all this to have a moan either (I’ve done enough of that already to @sewno65 😂) many of my students get frustrated when they make these kind of mistakes and say “ I bet you never do things like this”… but we all make mistakes. And it’s in the mistakes that we learn the most. I will be making more of these (I already have another summer pair cut!) Stills from my third pair of Billys with all the glorious details. If you need them, here are the mods I made (my measurements are in my bio): - 1” to the rise (something I’m finding really helps the fit) - graded size 10 hips and legs to a size 6 waist AND I moved the darts over about half an inch both sides. I applied the waistband and just chopped it at the centre front to fit. - took I think 1” out of the leg. - bias bound the rear pocket but overlocked everything else I’ve been visualising these trousers in this stripe viscose since i bought it in the clearance sale of @newcrafthouse last summer on one of my long runs. I think it was about £3 pm?! And I’ve been a massive fan of @bellalovespatterns for a while now and can’t wait for my Fran Blazer journey coming some time this year. ❤️ #blpbilly #bellalovespatterns #newcrafthouse

I bought fabric for 3 pairs of linen pants in June 2024. Well, this is the second pair. These are the Billy trousers from Bella loves Patterns. I love all the little details of this pattern. The cardigan is the Braidy Loop Cardigan from Other Loops knitted in Rowan Kidsilk Haze and an old unidentifiable wool and silk yarn. Unfortunately, I seem to have catched a batch of Kidsilk Haze that looses hair very badly - it‘s not really wearable. Finished the practice trousers for @meghanmoraaa the Billy Trousers from @bellalovespatterns really has a lot of nice details that you can’t see from the outside! Stay tape on the waistband, bias binding on around the pockets, waistband and back rise! I don’t have a lot of experience making pants and none as detailed as this pattern. While it doesn’t recommend using a slinky fabric(this was not a great quality) it did give me an idea if the medium cream crepe fabric I want to sew can work and I say yes! 💕 Loved making this #blpflor dress by @bellalovespatterns - so many ruffles! As someone who doesn't find sleeveless things flattering on me, the ruffles provide the perfect amount of cover while still being perfect for hot weather. I made a size 8 in a C cup and it's the first wrap dress I've made that sits closely to my chest (so no wardrobe malfunctions!) I'll definitely be making another! Only thing I will change is making the armholes a bit deeper so it's even more suited for hot weather. I am determined to take more photos of my makes this year, I probably said the same thing last year but I’m hoping for better results in 2024 🤞🏻 First up is my @bellalovespatterns Grace Coat. I was in the testing team for this pattern and managed to get it all cut out and prepped at the start of the year but then ran out of time. Thankfully Bella held off releasing the pattern and I was very happy I had it all cut out and ready to go for this winter. This coat really is special. The details in the design are just exquisite. From the grown on sleeve with gusset, secret loop for hanging your belt and then the topstitching 😍 I’m happy I made this in a classic camel shade (I’m describing it as more like a digestive biscuit shade when it’s used for a cheesecake base 🤤) as it’s one I will treasure wearing forever and will never date. It’s timeless. I’m happy I spent all that time topstitching it by hand, I do enjoy hand stitching and it makes it all the more special. The main fabric and lining are from @wearethefabricstore last year. I’m also wearing my Christmas Day blouse, the Sarah shirt from Petits Hauts (a French pattern book). There are more details in my previous post about this pattern when I made it in a deadstock check. This time I doubled up the ruffle and stitched a scalloped edge on it. I love the effect and will do a tutorial this week on how I achieved it. The fabric is @mindthemaker Leia crepe from @lamazifabrics On the bottom I am wearing my black Billy Trousers, also by @bellalovespatterns this are a firm staple in my wardrobe. I’m making a dark grey pair at the moment and will probably make another in black at some stage as I wear them so much. Billy Check ! Ça faisait un moment que je rêvais d’un pantalon à carreaux verts dans ce style. J’avais plusieurs idées de patrons en tête, mais le #blpbilly de @bellalovespatterns l’a emporté : coupe dingue, tombé parfait. Restait plus qu’à trouver LE tissu… et c’était pas évident. Et bim, en me baladant à Montmartre, je tombe sur un lin à carreaux, pile comme il faut – ni trop mou, ni trop raide. C’est reparti pour les raccords (je vous montre ma technique ?). Proud of my accomplishment in making a pair of trousers! ⭐️ if you have never made a pair of structured pants I would recommend making a practice pair first, even with that I did have to redo the waistband width 2x to get the fit right! I did follow the pattern with bias tape on the pockets, waistband and back seam for a tailored look! Since they are made in a candlelight color and lighter weight fabric I purchased from @the.sewing.studio I did cut down the length of the pockets.
