Turns out I feel very 'me' in a vest. This is the @bellalovespatterns Bennie vest sans lining. I looove the new unlined #truebiasquinn but it's drafted for a C cup. I'd already fit the #blpbennie to myself, so figured I'd just omit the lining and bias bind the armholes. Those mods make it a way faster sew than the full lining. It's also easier to wear in the 100° weather we're stuck in. This one is in @fabricsstorecom 4C22 heavyweight linen in Dulse. I finished sewing my waistcoat! As I was reading Lord of the Rings earlier this year, I wanted to draw my inspiration from the waistcoats champions, hobbits. . I used the Bennie pattern from Bella Loves Patterns, and I went for dark green suit fabric with a silk(y) burnt orange lining. The buttons have a vine and leaf design which I thought was a cool little nod to the elvish brooches. One of my nicest makes eveeeer! This is the #blpbennie by @bellalovespatterns that I got to test last year. It took three days to sew up and it is the most tailored, well fitted, pretty inside and out piece of clothing I've ever made. I am so proud of this one! The instructions were so clear, with pictures for every step so it definitely helped me slow down and enjoy the process and make sure I got every little detail right. 🪡

I feel like me and my @bellalovespatterns #blpbennievest have been on quite a journey together and finished in a very good place. There is alot more to sewing this vest than meets the eye and that's why I love it so much. The silhouette you finish with is beautiful, even when not being worn it looks shapely with its beautiful princess seams, alot goes on between the lining and the outer fabric which makes it feel like you have sewn something special. Talking of special, how beautiful does this @juliaallissoncost Vintage Bouquet Corduroy look even on a small waistcoat, I'm kinda glad that I didn't have enough leftover to be able to cut the back piece out otherwise I wouldn't have thought of using the pink satin or doing the embroidery on the back which I just love. This one I made a little larger as I wanted it to feel comfy fastened up over a top, my first one I can only wear it open when layered over something. I also added a buckle on the back ties instead of tieing them. This is toile #4 of this pattern, but is possibly one of my proudest makes so far. A #blpbennie from @bellalovespatterns in a sweet floral baby cord from @lafinchfabrics_new . I made the smallest size and did a small bust adjustment, which was a bit of a nail biter given the princess seams and lining. Also had to lengthen it a wee bit, since I chose the incorrect height when I bought the pattern (opps!). My longest and most technical make to date. It’s taken me 3 weeks to make the Bennie Vest by @bellalovespatterns in the same black tencel from @fabricbox_morningside as I made my trousers in. I’ve not had as much time to sew recently, but all the technical details on this waistcoat definitely added to the time I did spend. I even skipped the pad stitching… i just didn’t have the patience for it. The pattern is fab! It includes pictures for every step and I love the end result, especially the side welt pockets. I made the version for 170cm height and I’m glad I did. I debated going for the shorter version, but I think this works well. I think I probably could have gone down a size, but I can always tightened the back ties. I wish I’d used a jazzier fabric for the lining (I used an old black pillow case 😂) but at least if it does peek through, it won’t be as noticeable. Following on from my reel, this is my last make for 2024 and for #MagamDopamineDecember hosted by @sewing_in_spain @suestoney @hportemanteau I think this @bellalovespatterns Bennie Vest is the perfect pattern to finish the year off with a happy sewing memory. I think the fit isn't perfect, but that could be due to the extra pounds I have put on with Xmas eating 😜 I love the cute buttons I had in my stash and have been wanting to use for ages. This fabric keeps on giving, it was a big piece of suiting for not alot of pounds, I have now made a dress and waistcoat and have enough left for either a skirt or trousers. I'm entering this make into #2fromstashamonth @salixsews and @septemberfaden and also into #MyMakesDec24 @sewmuchtodesign Considering I didn't pay any attention to pattern matching I think it has worked out OK. I did have a whoopsie moment when I forgot that I had turned up the iron for some canvas fabric and then ironed my lining🫣 let's just say a small part of it now has a lizard texture that only I get to see 😁 Not sure whether to tweek the pattern abit more for my next one or leave well alone and hope when I lose the Xmas weight it will fit better. I could not resist the Ace Denim mania and made Bennie Vest by @bellalovespatterns I loved the slow, mindful process of fitting and sewing this garment. Made the 160cm height version, and I am delighted to say that the fit is perfect. I made size 22, according to my measurements for toile, but re-printed and cut size 20. So glad I did not have to adjust pattern pieces for my short frame. Also, I omitted welt pockets, they would be lost in this busy fabric design. Baggy Nr.2 Wenn Anke von @smartpattern ein neues Schnittmuster herausbringt, bleibt es nie bei nur einer einzigen Hose - die vielen Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten sind einfach zu verlockend! 😃 Hier seht ihr also Modell Nr 2, der Vergleichsmöglichkeit halber auf den ersten beiden Bildern ähnlich gestylt wie Nr. 1 im vorhergehenden post, also mit Weste. Diese Version ist nicht legere geschnitten wie die erste, sondern normal weit, aber ebenfalls leicht ausgestellt, mit Knieabnähern und Überlänge. Pågående syprosjekt. Når jeg sydde meg det matchende todelte settet i sommer, har jeg fantasert om en blazer i samme stoff. Jeg sjekket ut litt forskjellige mønstre, og endte opp med Fran Blazer av @bellalovespatterns. Den har flere elementer jeg ikke har vært borte i før, som lommer med flapp og passepoile, ermefisk og skulderputer. Jeg sydde først en enkel toile for å se an størrelsen, og jeg endte opp med en ren str 12 uten noen modifikasjoner. Den er stivet opp med en hel del vliselin, men jeg vurderer å forsterke skulder/ øverste del av forstykkene litt ekstra med et lag hestehårskanvas hvis det lar seg gjøre på dette stadiet i prosessen. Stoffet er tromlet lin fra @merchantandmills kjøpt hos @indigoindigo.no. Jeg gikk til innkjøp av jakkestoffet i etterkant av vest og bukse prosjektet mitt, og det er en anelse mørkere per nå. Det er virkelig et stort og tidkrevende prosjekt for meg, men jeg elsker den sakte prosessen og jeg lærer mange nye teknikker underveis. Deep magenta #Barbiecore vibes. This little outfit is sewn up in a lovely deadstock wool crepe from @blackbirdfabrics that I got last year. In between my other projects I have been doing bits to my @bellalovespatterns Beanie vest that I want to make using the rest of my @juliaallissoncost Vintage Bouquet Corduroy. Remember a while back that I was planning on using this pink satin for the back to eek the fabric out. Well I had it in my head to take inspiration from Julia's design and stitch a floral motive onto it as I didn't fancy it just plain. So far I have done freestyle machine embroidery and now I'm fine tuning with hand stitches. Haven't yet mastered keeping all the stitches the same length on the machine, I think it's a speed thing, but practice makes perfect - eventually. To transfer my drawing onto the fabric I punched holes around the pencil lines with my unpicking tool then lay the drawing over the fabric and went around the holes with my fine pilot heat pen, afterwards joined the dots up to give me a sewing guide. I really like it but still not convinced that the two fabrics are going to gel together as a waistcoat. For some reason I am really fired up for my sewing this year, I was hoping to slow it down but I seem more hungry for it and excited about projects in my head 🤦‍♀️this one, I feel, will be one I drop in and out of and take it slow. ⚜️ BENNIE & JUNE ⚜️ A combo that sounds like that 90s rom com but is in fact a sewing match made in heaven. This was the wearable toile for a matchy set I'm planning but I love the result so much!! Maybe the best part is it's all stash fabric and random remnants! Patterns are the @bellalovespatterns Bennie vest and the @helens__closet June pants. This is the best elastic waist pant pattern, hands down the only one you need. The fit is GREAT over the hips and they don't give me the dreaded, frumpy diaper butt problem. I am a huge stan of Bella Loves Patterns, they're just stunningly beautiful patterns to make and wear. Vested after considerable interest. I’m a step behind the vest trend but finally caught up when I snatched this snazzy stripey denim remnant from lakes makerie and used every single bit to squeeze out a @Bellalovespatterns Bennie vest. I sewed up a size 10 according to my measurements and needed to do a small bust adjustment to get a smooth fit. I skipped the pockets #lazy- and lined the vest in a cotton voile that used to be a curtain lining. I think this will be great for layering - but it’s still warm here- so I’m still styling for summer. DESIGNNÄHEN @huntress_of_finest_fabrics Diesmal die Resteverwertung 🤣. Als den letzten Stoffresten habe ich glatt noch eine Weste (vest bennie von @bellalovespatterns ) #Blpbennie heraus bekommen. Die Stücke konnte ich in dem vorderen Teil gut verstecken. Tweed, Knöpfe und Futter habe ich von der lieben Laura von #huntress_of_finest_fabrics zur Verfügung gestellt bekommen. Den Jeansstoff habe ich selber von huntress_of_finest_fabrics gekauft (gibt es glaube ich noch im Shop, der ist so super....). Ich bin so froh, daß ich anstelle eines Mantels nun doch diese 3 Teile genäht habe. It's been a bit since I've posted. I have been sewing but not as often as I used to or as often as I would like because life is really busy right now. I really wanted a vest in my wardrobe (feels so 90's, right?) and tried on a few at J Crew and Aritzia a couple of weekends ago, realizing I need to make my own with petite adjustments. This is the Bennie from @bellalovespatterns -- there are 2 height files and this is the shorter one for 160cm height. I made a straight size but should have graded out the waist a bit (because #waistbiggerthanhip ) and perhaps removed some length in the lower back. The instructions are SUPERB with step by step details telling you exactly what to do. This vest is fully lined with functional welt pockets. I used a blue chalk wheel to mark center front and the welt placements. The blue color doesn't brush away and I tried washing it with a washcloth. I'll likely dry clean this vest (after all the work put into it, I would hate to have it crushed in the wash) and hope the blue chalk marks come out. I will make this pattern again with the modifications outlined above because it's a wonderful pattern.
