Ik maakte de #rosieshirt van @bellalovespatterns en de #shoppant van @openstudiopatterns Voor het hemdje gebruikte ik een stofje van @atelierbrunette, ik kocht het bij @lanalotta. De stof voor de broek (een gladde en lichtjes glimmende twill) kocht ik bij @bakermat.antwerp Het patroon voor het hemd was niet makkelijk, zeker de manier waarop de kraag wordt genaaid, in combinatie met de gladde stof. Ik moest een paar keer losmaken, maar uiteindelijk toch gelukt. De #shoppants zag ik bij @sewimpatient en zo blij met dit patroon! Ik maakte nu maat 8, maar zal volgende keer aan de taille naar maat 6 gaan. Ook de extra naad onderaan de onderbenen laat ik volgende keer weg. This is the #blprosie blouse by @bellalovespatterns in a straight size 10- no mods! The collar construction was super confusing but glad I pushed through as I’m really happy with it. I'm not proud of the two year gap since my last post, but I think I needed that little sewing sabbatical. Besides being lazy to photograph my makes, a string of "failed" projects left me kind of demotivated and I'd been finding it difficult to buy fabric online reliably without being disappointed by what I received. After considering just giving up the hobby entirely, I decided to keep at it but to take things at a slower pace and allow myself to procrastinate for as long as I want on any given project. This is one of the rare projects in recent sewing attempts that did turn out well and has become a work staple. I unintentionally made a toile with some rayon that was much too sheer so I guess that contributed to the success of this one (maybe a sign that I should really invest some time into toiles). I have a soft spot for camp collars and drop sleeves, and the weightiness of this lovely fabric makes the shirt feel luxurious. Sewing the collar was tricky for sure, even on the second attempt! The moment I saw this fabric I was in love. I'm not sure if it was the bright colours or those juicy oranges. It's a viscose linen, so lovely and drapey but with the best qualities of linen thrown in - stable to work with and breathable. My first thought that it was make an absolutely dynamite #saguaroset by @fridaypatterncompany. I can imagine swanning about in it on sunny days, looking like I should be in St Tropez. Or if you're less of a fantasist than me, how about a blouse or shirt. Yes I’m posting two grid posts within minutes of each other…and what of it?! Just me putting two fingers up to the algorithm. Plus today I retrieved my remote from behind the chest of drawers where it’s been sitting for 6 months, and I got trigger happy 🙃 Here is my Christmas project - my #blprosie blouse. Part-cut out several weeks ago but only sewn this week post-Christmas due to ‘stuff’ and ‘life’ happening over the last month or so. The viscose was from @likesewamazing and is the perfect combo with this pattern- it’s exactly as I imagined it. This wasn’t the easiest pattern to follow (think it’s marked intermediate) despite it being an apparently simple blouse. I think some of the instructions, particularly for the lapel & collar construction, could have been clearer. However I actually enjoyed taxing my brain a bit over this project and appreciating the extra detail. It felt good to get back into it and regain the sewjo. Here it is, my coyote shirt!! Pattern: #BLPRosie by @bellalovespatterns , sz 10 (fits up to 44"bust) Fabric: rayon challis from @lafinchfabrics_new You know I love a good animal print. It took me mere seconds to snatch this fabric up. A bit longer to decide on the perfect pattern but my thoughts kept going back to the Rosie Shirt, so I went for it. I'm so so glad I did. I'll be wearing this a LOT. It's so well designed and the fabric is wonderfully light and floaty. A magical match between my favorite fabric shop and one of my favorite pattern designers. For this project I stabilized my fabric with gelatin for the first time and holy crap, you guys! It made this rayon behave like cotton! Totally worth the extra time! I'm between sizes and chose to size down. It's just a little snug over the hips, not surprising considering my pear shape. The collar construction was tricky to execute but creates a flawless finish. The instructions are so detailed and helpful, I actually learn from Bella's patterns! Size 16 shortened 1” at L/S line, in a Royce Ponte knit. . #BlpRosie by @bellalovespatterns is a real beauty of a pattern. 💕 I was in love from the moment I saw it. Sewed this up immediately when the pattern came out, and it’s just as awesome as expected 💕 . I made this version of Rosie as a practice run in viscose poplin from @blackbirdfabrics since I wanted to confirm my adjustments before cutting one in precious silk noil. I made covered buttons for the first time ever on this blouse, absolutely love having matching buttons! Size 14 (using group 1 pieces for my height of 5’2”. Made a 1.25” Full Bust adjustment and blended to size 20 at hip. I'm filling in my work wardrobe with another sewn button up blouse. This is a repeat of a pattern I sewed up this past fall; I like the modest neckline that's good for work with the notched collar, and grown on sleeves with cuffs. The one thing that bothers me is how quickly the sleeve/underarm area gets wrinkled. You can see a close up of the wrinkles 😊 in picture 6, but I think this is due to the sleeve style, right? I am currently sorting through *24* large bins of clothes that I put into the attic when we moved houses in Feb'22. (We lived in that house for 1.5 years, then moved back to our original house in July'23 but I left those 24 bins in that attic until this past weekend when we emptied that attic.) 90% of the clothes in those bins are dresses and skirts. I returned to work (after 16 years as a stay at home parent) in Aug'22 and need pants and blouses (majority male office and I sometimes go into the fab/factory) and rarely wear dresses and skirts now. I've purchased 10+ pairs of work pants in the last couple of months but I really need more tops/blouses. I'm thankful @alexandria_arnold is hosting #worktober as I'm getting inspiration for work outfits and gave myself a goal to sew more work clothes. This is the Rosie Shirt from @bellalovespatterns which is an oversized shirt with grown on sleeves with cuffs, notched collar, 4 button closure, back yoke and a v neck. If you have never sewn a pattern from @bellalovespatterns you are missing out on superb instructions, techniques, and drafting. I intend to make this pattern in a solid next as I feel the collar is hidden in this print. This is worth sewing again and again, in my opinion. Hello Marlo Skirt! This is the new pattern from @ateliermimito and it is a real star! I was so eager to sew this skirt ans was lucky to be one of the testers. I loved the Marlo pants and had very high hopes for this pattern. Well, it definitely did not disappoint. I loved every minute of making this and I can’t wait to make more! Laurie is such a talented pattern maker and I love how she makes sure to make the insides as pretty as the outside by using french seams. The instructions are clear and it is a fun, easy make (but that looks and feels amazing and professional), a perfect pattern both for beginners and more seasoned sewers. Made mine in double layers of a lightweight linnen, but it works great with a range of fabrics. Feel so inspired by the other testers and their lovely skirts! As soon as Im done with my current projects I’ll cut out about a trillion Marlo Skirts. (Full disclosure: pattern was given to me as a pattern tester. No obligation to post about it.) truly love it. La rosie shirt c’est un patron avec de très belles finitions : coutures anglaises, joli col , technique du fourreau pour les empiècements dos …. Certes le Patron est en anglais … mais avec les dessins sur le descriptif et Google traduction 😝 je m’en suis sortie 😇 Passage un peu complexe pour le montage du col, il faut prendre son temps …. Bien relire …. Encore relire et au final tout s’emboîte bien ! Finally, a proper sewing success! I’ve been wanting to make this Bella Loves Patterns Rosie Shirt for ages, it’s been cut out and waiting for me since before our trip to Brisbane in November 😅 it was a pleasingly complex pattern to put together (I find notched collars fiddly), but the instructions were thorough and it came together really smoothly. This cotton dobby made things easy too, it was very well behaved! I picked up these perfect shell buttons from a vintage button seller at Fabricabrac last year, and they’re such a good match. I can definitely see me making more of these shirts, it’s such a perfectly oversized silhouette that works really well tucked into high waisted trousers.
