My sister gifted me 1/2 of this floral viscose linen from Blackbird and I knew I had my fabric for my summer version! I ended up having to piece together the waistband, but it's only noticeable from the inside. Like all her other patterns, it was a joy to sew and is chic AF. And how perfectly does it match with the blueberry #vikisews_rory tank I just made? Can't wait to style it with a button up or other fun "going out" tops. #blpdulce skirt worn with #vikisews_riana and a long sleeve #larktee . If you saw my stories the other week you would’ve learned I have mixed feelings about the blazer. The skirt on the other hand, is love at first sight 😍. I made a size 10, shortened by 4cm (I’m 152cm) which matched with my measurements, and it all came together really easily. All, except for the moment when I needed to bag out the lining and the skirt. The instructions and the photo alongside them were really unclear and I spent probably almost half an hour getting completely confused until I found a video series on the @bellalovespatterns YouTube channel that shows every step for sewing the skirt. And lo and behold, the instructions in the video were completely different to the pattern - no wonder I was getting nowhere! The video tutorials are super helpful, and I will definitely remember them for next time! Two for one! This is the #blpdulce skirt from @bellalovespatterns and the #aaltodress top from @papercutpatterns. Both stashbusting pieces with no new materials used! But this is really a skirt appreciation post (more Aalto dress updates later). I LOVE this skirt and how it fits - it's so brilliant. As a short person (5'2") I love how tall it makes me look, and how flattering it is! The shape is so so good, it is absolute perfection 👌🏻 I almost gave up on this skirt when making it though - I used some old leftover dupion silk and some random lining I had laying around, and it frayed so much I was seriously worried about just getting the pieces sewn together, and I almost gave up. Instead of iron on interfacing I interlined with a light cotton twill which gave it really nice structure. I was also so thrown off by all the fraying that I couldn't figure out how to do the bagging out so in the end I hemmed the lining separately and then hand stitched it in place. The detail in the instructions that went into getting this finish was totally worth it, but it's not really a good beginner project imo. I absolutely love the result, and want to make another one with some leftover wool coating I have. #sewover40 #handmade #homesewing #memadewardrobe

Zuerst wollte ich einen Mantel daraus nähen aber dann habe ich meine Pläne geändert und einen Rock und eine Jacke daraus gemacht. Aus einem Reststück ist sogar noch ein passender Schal dazu entstanden 💁🏼‍♀️. Ich glaube ab heute kaufe ich nur noch Mantelstoffe mit Kaschmir. Der ist so butterweich - der Wahnsinn. Abnäher sind am Rücken- und im Vorderteil vorhanden, ein nahtverdeckter Reißverschluss und eine wunderschöne Futterverarbeitung runden das gute Stück ab. Eine kleine Anpassungen habe ich gemacht, von Größe 16 an der Hüfte zu 14 in der Taille gradiert. 🥰 Die Anleitung ist super detailliert und so professionell! Ich kann es wirklich nur von Herzen empfehlen! Es war ein Genuss zu nähen! Forstoffet kjøpte jeg fra Stitsj 💙 Det var veldig gøy å prøve et mer avansert syprosjekt, selv om det ble liggende i biter en god stund før jeg fikk tiltak til å starte 🫣 Ble overrasket over hvor trivelig det var å jobbe gjennom alle detaljene (mye tråkling og mange steg). Got all dressed up in #memades to celebrate two beautiful people in love. The skirt is #blpdulce by @bellalovespatterns made in deadstock Valentino silk brocade from a lovely fabric store in Basel. This is my second version of this skirt and it's definitely not going to be the last. The blouse is a copy of an old Zara blouse that I have cherished over the years. The fabric is silk Georgette from @moodfabrics that I scored last year in New York. It took a lot of work to trace the individual pieces and I even made a mock up to make sure that the pattern i had created would work. And it did! I love the end result. The blouse itself is very formal and chic but the batwings gives it a casual feel. Love love love! #memademay2025 #millenialsewing #sewistsofinstagram

Lined, fitted, and (almost) flawless – here’s what I learned when making #BlpDulce skirt by @bellalovespatterns 💡 Skills learned: Attached a lining for the first time! 🎉 There’s something so satisfying about finishing a fully lined garment – it makes everything feel polished, luxurious, and ready for long-term wear. This was definitely a new level of craftsmanship for me! ⚠️ Tricky parts: That infamous invisible zipper… still not quite my best friend 😅 I somehow stitched into the zipper teeth while hand-stitching (oops), and now it doesn’t zip all the way down. But since the skirt fits, I’m calling it a win 🤷‍♀️ I’d love to know if you have any tips for getting the invisible zipper just right! Bagging out the hem (attaching the lining to the hem and turning it inside out) totally threw me off! 😅 I missed the crucial step where the skirt actually needs to be twisted before turning it inside out. As a result, the finished piece ended up twisted instead. Cue a two-hour fixing session! 😬 If you’re tackling this step, definitely make sure to watch the video tutorial closely—it’s a game-changer to get it right the first time! Trust me, it’ll save you both time and frustration. 🙌
 💭 What I’d do differently next time: Invest in a higher-quality lining! This one frayed like crazy, and neither my serger nor sewing machine could tame it. Fingers crossed it holds up over time! 🤞 Also, I’m still wondering about the fit. In still photos, it’s great, but in motion, the darts look a little hollow? Could be the fabric shifting, could be my pattern adjustments—hard to tell! I couldn’t find any videos of this pattern in motion, so I’m curious—has anyone else experienced this with their skirts? Is this normal 😺 ✨Final thoughts Sewing this felt like the perfect mix of challenge and reward. It wasn’t THAT hard, just time-consuming, but I loved the slow, intentional process. Anyone else working on a project that’s testing their patience but totally worth it? 🤠

It's been surprisingly hard to find a simple skirt for work but I've finally found it in the @bellalovespatterns Dulce skirt! No surprises it's another Bella pattern, her block seems to fit me super well with minimal adjustments. I made this skirt in a size 10, lengthened by a couple of inches to make it more suitable for work. I also added a little extra ease at the waist for comfort. The skirt is made in a deadstock Scottish wool I bought from @blackbirdfabrics a few years ago. I only had a metre of this and had analysis paralysis about what to do with it! The lining is a cupro from @wearethefabricstore. I bought this fabric in a wonderful textile shop in London in April 2021, and it has been lying in my stash ever since (moved house with me twice as well). I have been building up the courage and waiting for the right time to sew the @bellalovespatterns #blpfran blazer, which is finally underway! I am meticulously working my way through the 70-odd pages of instructions, and I’m currently stuck somewhere between the upper and the lower welt on the pockets, BUT in the meanwhile I managed ti squeeze this skirt out of the few remnants I had left. I had to forgo the waistband, and chose a side zipper just because I find it easier to get dressed with a side zip 😁 I really wanted a matching skirt to my blazer and I’m so happy I managed it by joining some pieces together in the back, hardly noticeable thanks to this great pattern. Speaking of pattern: very very happy with the pattern matched pocket 😎 I have hopes of replacing the zip with an invisible zip in the future, but this is what I had in my stash. #blpdulce

Ich sag’s euch, ich bin grad so richtig im Nähflow. 🪡 Ein Teil nach dem anderen entsteht und ich hab nach der Flaute im Sommer und Herbst wieder so Lust auf mein geliebtes Hobby. 🥰 Ich versuche großteils mein Stofflager abzubauen, aber ich habe mir für eine Hose einen ganz tollen Wollstoff bestellt. Tja, beim Zuschnitt bin ich drauf gekommen, dass sich gut noch ein kurzer Rock ausgehen würde. 🤩 Die Hose ist zwar zugeschnitten, aber noch nicht genäht. Dafür ist der Rock fertig und ich mag ihn richtig gern. Ich habe den #dulceskirt von @bellalovespatterns genäht. So ein toller Schnitt, mit Abnäher am Rücken und im Vorderteil, einem nahtverdeckten Reißverschluss und gefüttert.
