Personal sewing project updates: started in January, steadily progressing to be finished for the t-shirt weather in my climate 😅. This is my wearable muslin for the #blpgrace. The pattern has interesting style features like the dolman sleeves, which make you use your brain a lot when you're sewing (just trust the process...and read every step carefully, not advised for tired brain late night sewing 😂). I mainly bought the pattern because I knew that @bellalovespatterns has top notch pattern instructions, and I needed good step by step vent instructions for general lined coat/jacket making anyway. So yeah, I hope to finish it soonish and maybe, hopefully, still wear it during a rare cold day before the heat (it's not a wool suiting so it's more like a spring coat but oh well spring can be 27°C around here🙈). /// Novedades en mis costuras personales: empecé este abrigo en enero y tiene pinta de que se estrena en tiempos de ir en tirantes😅. I made this beautiful coat for my daughter @zitakhari . Pattern: #blpgrace designed by @bellalovespatterns Fabric: black wool from my stash I like the shape and silhouette of this coat. I made a size 16. Zita likes her clothes a little oversized and does not like shoulder pads, so I left them out. The instructions are very detailed. A lot of little steps that make you go slow and focused and not rushing for the final result. This was a really good introduction into tailoring. ENG Grace coat has been on my sewing table during 1 year and I have loved sewing it. So good instructions from @bellalovespatterns plus a fun underarm detail. And confort of wearing it ❤️. I made 2 muslims and it was really worth of it, because I had much much less fabric then I should have had 😁. Under collar was made from another fabric and my belt is basically a patchwork project 😊 Fabric was bought from @tessilandiadesenzano (amazing fabric shop next to lake Garda in Italy - only wool and silk in the shop). What was interesting was the fact that the woollen fabric was already interfaced- much less work for the preparation. Past 5 months have been all about sewing coats, because I am giving a coat sewing course. Grace coat has been a good example for my students of a raglan sleeved coat, as they took their patterns from Burda magazine, where the choice is so wide, including raglan sleeves. FR Le manteau Grace est sur ma table à coudre depuis 1 an et j’adore le coudre. De très bonnes instructions de @bellalovespatterns plus un détail amusant sous les bras. Et le confort de le porter ❤️. Ce qui était intéressant, c’était le fait que le tissu en laine était déjà entoilé - beaucoup moins de travail pour la préparation. Les 5 derniers mois ont été consacrés à la couture de manteaux, car je donne un cours de couture de manteaux. Etter litt prøving og feiling med forskjellig trykkforpress og ulike stingplater og føtter, klarte jeg til slutt å sy med knappetråden som undertråd også, bortsett fra på beltet hvor det bare ble krøll. Jeg gikk opp en størrelse i forhold til kroppsmålene mine, da jeg ville ha den litt oversized og slik at jeg skulle få god plass til en strikkegenser under, noe jeg ble veldig fornøyd med. Trykknappene har jeg trukket med fórstoffet, etter instruksjoner i mønsteret. Pretty happy with my Make Nine 2024 end results! The only thing I didn’t make was the Cass Pants in the end, so not bad. I did make the Homme Wrap Dress, but it was an absolute disaster (should have made a muslin, need to make some maaaaasive fitting changes 💀) and it’s still in the time out bag of shame. But maybe it’ll make an appearance in 2025? Coat process 🪡 I got back to working on my coat project the past weekend. During a beautiful 4h long stretch of uninterrupted sewing time I had time to finish the lower part of the vent, to prepare the collar and to attach the facing. It was a pure delight 🤍. There's still a bunch of work to do but the finished coat seems to be closer than ever (I said something similar in April but who actually cares 😅). Special thanks for the assistants of course... nothing better than a wip to sit on 🐈🐈‍⬛. #blpgrace @bellalovespatterns // El progeso del abrigo 🪡 El finde pasado volví a coser mi abrigo. Durante un bonito rato de 4h sin interrupciones para coser tuve tempo de terminar la parte de abajo de la abertura de la espalda, de preparar el cuello y de coser las vistas. Fue una mañana de 10, qué voy a decir 🤍. Todavía me falta bastante curro pero el abrigo terminado parece más cerca que nunca (dije algo así en abril pero a quién le importa realmente 😅). Mención especial a los asistentes obviamente...qué mejor sitio para depositar su trasero que en un buen proyecto de costura a medias 🐈‍⬛🐈.

Alors certes , je le porterai peu cette année , mais je suis très contente d’avoir enfin cette pièce en camel que je cherchais depuis longtemps . Pour le lainage , j’ai mis du temps à trouver et c’est en voyant le superbe manteau de @mlle_cyrielle en lainage Stragier que je me suis décidée . C’est un 70% laine de très belle qualité et sa couleur est exactement ce que je cherchais . En ce qui concerne le patron , on ne présente plus la très pointue @bellalovespatterns dont j’avais déjà cousu le Traveller Coat il y a deux ans . Le professionnalisme et les détails du livret sont en eux mêmes un cours complet de couture et j’y ai appris de nouvelles techniques. Il y a beaucoup d’étapes , c’est long, mais le rendu est toujours impeccable. . 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 My yearly coat making session has happened and I am glad I pushed my lazy self to make this beautiful #gracecoat by the very talented @bellalovespatterns as each of her sewing pattern is in itself a complete sewing class with attention to details . I am determined to take more photos of my makes this year, I probably said the same thing last year but I’m hoping for better results in 2024 🤞🏻 First up is my @bellalovespatterns Grace Coat. I was in the testing team for this pattern and managed to get it all cut out and prepped at the start of the year but then ran out of time. Thankfully Bella held off releasing the pattern and I was very happy I had it all cut out and ready to go for this winter. This coat really is special. The details in the design are just exquisite. From the grown on sleeve with gusset, secret loop for hanging your belt and then the topstitching 😍 I’m happy I made this in a classic camel shade (I’m describing it as more like a digestive biscuit shade when it’s used for a cheesecake base 🤤) as it’s one I will treasure wearing forever and will never date. It’s timeless. I’m happy I spent all that time topstitching it by hand, I do enjoy hand stitching and it makes it all the more special. The main fabric and lining are from @wearethefabricstore last year. I’m also wearing my Christmas Day blouse, the Sarah shirt from Petits Hauts (a French pattern book). There are more details in my previous post about this pattern when I made it in a deadstock check. This time I doubled up the ruffle and stitched a scalloped edge on it. I love the effect and will do a tutorial this week on how I achieved it. The fabric is @mindthemaker Leia crepe from @lamazifabrics On the bottom I am wearing my black Billy Trousers, also by @bellalovespatterns this are a firm staple in my wardrobe. I’m making a dark grey pair at the moment and will probably make another in black at some stage as I wear them so much. What a project! I’ve been chipping away at this Grace Coat for just over a month, and I’m so glad to have it finished! This is the first Bella Loves Patterns pattern I’ve used, and it was such a detailed, technical undertaking. There’s 95 pages of instructions! Just the fusing (layers of different interfacing and tape) and the thread tracing took me over a week. The sewing was fairly straightforward, the welt pockets went in very smoothly, and the shape of the coat is pretty simple. There are gussets in the sleeve/underarm which were an interesting detail to insert, and really improve mobility through the shoulders. The thing that took the longest was definitely all the hand sewing. You can’t really tell in these pictures, but all of the visible topstitching is done by hand. So that took forever, and then unpicking the machine basted guides took even longer 💀 but I think it was worth it! I’m absolutely in love with the final coat, can’t wait to wear it this week! Ich mache ja zur Zeit einen Kurs bei @thepatternline zum Thema Doubleface Mantel und habe das dort erlernte hier eingebracht. Ich habe den Schlitz hinten weggelassen und die Taschen geändert. Hier habe ich lange überlegt und mich dann für die einfachste Variante entschieden 😉. Werbung wegen Namensnennung, aber alles selbst erworben. Even though the belt is still missing, I would like to show my double-face coat #blpgrace from @bellalovespatterns. I’m currently taking a course at @thepatternline on the subject of double-face coats and have brought in what I learned there here. I left out the back slit and changed the pockets. I thought about it for a long time and then decided on the simplest option 😉. Advertising due to attribution, but purchased everything myself.

Regardless of the pattern it always seems to take longer than planned 😅 I’ve launched Grace at the very end of 2023 - I was just so tired from all the work that had gone into it, that I haven’t even promoted the pattern, how good of me! - I was so looking forward to the Christmas holidays ⭐️ But I the same time I knew MANY were waiting for Grace to come out and I could leave it for later! I’ve been awaiting the release of @bellalovespatterns Grace Coat so I can share this make and rave about the pattern, its drafting and its instructions! I tested this pattern back in June (note the green, spring-summer colors…and this was in our previous house’s backyard, we moved at the end of July) and have worn this coat several times even though I’m not 100% finished. I am searching for the perfect button (see #blpGrace for the one button closure at the neckline) and also searching for the perfect color silk or rayon lining to cover 2 large snaps that will be sewn into the waistline. In the meantime I am enjoying wearing this coat belted. If you haven’t sewn with #BellaLovesPatterns patterns, I highly recommend because the instructions are superb. There are step by step details for making the coat. Super detailed. This wool was purchased from @britexfabrics last December at a @bayareasewists meetup. This was the most expensive fabric I have ever purchased and I was scared to cut into it. The fabric is a wool cashmere blend and is so light and soft to the touch. I don’t have a picture of the lining, but I found a perfect match leopard print silk at @fabrixsf - I’ll post pictures of the inside in another post. 🍁 Garance et Dulce 🍁 Un ensemble automnal dans des teintes de saison mais qui permet de profiter des derniers rayons de soleil tout de même 😎 J’ai à nouveau cousu la #blousegarance en raccourcissant volontairement la basque. Je la trouve plus légère comme cela et elle se marie bien avec cette petite jupe. J’aime beaucoup ce haut surtout dans ce tissu aérien, un voile de coton avec de jolis motifs géométriques. Pour la jupe, il s’agit du modèle #blpdulce et je dois dire que j’ai été bluffée par les finitions. Très honnêtement j’ai rarement cousu un patron aussi détaillé, les 95 pages étaient un peu intimidantes mais c’est parce que Bella décrit chaque étape dans les détails.
