Je suis quelqu’un de naturellement impatiente dans la vie. J’aime bien que les choses arrivent vite, se fassent vite… En couture c’est pareil, et c’est aussi ce que j’aime, une idée se forme dans ma tête, je choisis un patron, je découpe le tissus et quelques heures plus tard, voilà mon idée est devenue réalité. Mais pas cette fois-ci. J’avais ce coupon de denim acheté chez @calissone.fr l’année dernière et j’avais prévu de me coudre un pantalon (devinez lequel 😇, c’est vrai qu’il va hyper vite lui), mais j’avais envie de changer et surtout j’avais envie de jupe en jean. J’ai donc jeté mon dévolu sur le patron de la jupe Anna de @bellalovespatterns. C’est mon deuxième patron de la créatrice (le premier est le Traveller’s coat que vous pouvez retrouver plus loin dans mon feed), et pendant que je cousais j’avais un mot qui me revenait en tête, enfin deux : slow couture. Coudre un patron de @bellalovespatterns veut dire prendre son temps, faire attention aux détails… ce n’est pas un exercice facile pour moi, madame je-veux-tout-tout-de-suite, mais j’ai vraiment apprécié le fait de changer ma façon de coudre pour une fois. De plus, je crois que je l’avais déjà dit dans mon post sur mon manteau, non seulement les instructions sont hyper claires et bien écrites mais on apprend plein de petite nouvelles choses. C’est sûr que je vais m’en servir pour mes prochains projets! Bref très contente de cette expérience couture! Et aussi du résultat! C’est exactement le genre de pièce que j’adore porter et j’ai déjà plein d’idées! À vrai dire, il faudrait que je reprenne l’empiècement du dos car ça fait un pli disgracieux quand je marche. Hands on pliers! We are shortening a zip with metal teeth 🔨🔧🪛 1️⃣First tip for zips is that if you cannot find the correct zip length, you can always buy longer and shorter them later. 2️⃣The ideal type of pliers is a “nail puller pliers”, I don’t have one, but work with one before and it made this part of the process so much easier 😉 3️⃣Without a nail puller pliers, you’ll might also need a small screw driver. 4️⃣Scissors ✂️ #BlpAnna #bellalovespatterns

I’m on a bit of a roll this week! This is a wearable toile of the Anna skirt by @bellalovespatterns. With all the topstitching and well thought through construction details I’m really pleased I did a dry run and I’m delighted with how it turned out. By cutting out flat I managed to squeeze this out of a tad over a meter of @merchantandmills corduroy left over from last autumn. I cut a 16 according to my hip measurements and graded to a 14 at the waist whilst sewing up the side seams so the only other adjustment that is needed for the final version is to take 17mm out of the height of the yoke. #blpanna #sewistsofinstagram

My latest make and I couldn't be happier - the Anna skirt by @bellalovespatterns. It's a denim skirt with bags of denim construction details - zip fly, coin pocket, topstitching and slit front. I made it with our 8oz railroad denim in the navy/white colourway which was an ideal fabric for it - plenty of structure but not stiff. I REALLY enjoyed taking my time over this pattern and it was honestly worth all the effort. I absolutely cannot believe I made this. The inside is as pretty as the outside - I used remnants of our Superbloom fabric for the pockets and binding. I absolutely love the hidden pop of colour! This is the Anna skirt from @bellalovespatterns made in 12oz upcycled denim from @wearethefabricstore. I made a straight size 10 and as with all Bella's patterns, the fit and instructions are just perfect! I love the upcycled cotton denims from The Fabric Store though they do start quite stiff but should soften over time. Very happy with my @bellalovespatterns Anna skirt. Added some length and lowered the front split, but no fit issues. Fabric is dead stock polkadot denim with a little bit of stretch. Let me introduce you to Anna my new skirt pattern ✨ Anna is a classic fitted, high-waisted, midi length denim skirt. While Anna was designed with mid-weight denim fabrics in mind, it would also work in a variety of bottom-weight materials like cotton twills, corduroy, canvas and linens that are appropriate for bottoms. The material can have little to no stretch. Anna comes in 4 PDF formats, plus very detailed sewing instructions. Seemed right to share these makes together since I finished them on the same day (except one took me 6 months to finish 😅) I was a little nervous to start this #blpanna denim skirt because I wasn’t sure I would like the style (but wanted to try) and this was my first time making a pattern by @bellalovespatterns but I’ve had fun trying different outfits with it. I made a size 10 (in the group 1 length) based on the size chart for my hip measurement (29”) and the fit is great! A little more snug and pencil-skirt like than I’m used to, but it would be easy enough I think to grade out to a bigger size for more ease in the skirt width. There is some bagging in the back yoke so some adjusting would need to be made there on a future version I lengthened the front slit 2” and I’m so glad I did! There’s instructions included for how to do that. Speaking of the instructions, they were clear and straight to the point. They’re also all real pictures which was something I wasn’t expecting, but was helpful for trickier steps like the zipper fly and front slit. I did mess up somewhere on the slit, but I was able to fix it to where it’s not noticeable 😄. I also learned a few finishing techniques and tips for working with denim that I can easily apply to jeans making. Overall a fun sew and learning experience! This #constellationsweater is SO soft and squishy! I used @weareknitters petite wool held with mohair (gifted with no obligation to post) which was really nice to work with. It was my first time working with mohair and it adds such a nice fuzz to this sweater. Like always, the sweater instructions are amazing and I never felt lost following them! . . . Jeg var redd jeg skulle gjøre feil dersom jeg graderte det inn, så jeg gjorde derfor ingen endringer, noe som resulterte i at det ble for vidt i livet... Heldigvis ikke noe et belte ikke kan fikse. I’ve not posted for ages, but I get so much inspiration from others in the sewing community I figured it was time I started contributing too so here goes! This is my wearable toile of #blpanna skirt by @bellalovespatterns using some leftover corduroy from a previous make. By cutting out on a single layer I’ve managed to squeeze all the pieces out of just over 1 m, which is amazing! For me sewing is very much about loving the body I have; as my weight can fluctuate a lot (particularly during the holidays!) I’ve cut a size 14 (closest to my measurements) but used the seam allowances for a 16 on the side seam pieces only. I plan to baste fit first to finalise the fit. The other idea I’m testing with this make that may also help is interlining with a layer of powermesh over the tummy area as I don’t like that corduroy has a tendency to go a bit baggy when it’s worn. I’ve just basted it in before construction and we’ll see how it works! Just need the zip and button to arrive and I can finish off. #sewistsofinstagram #bellalovespatterns
