Details of one of my recent makes: wool suit made of trousers and vest 🔍 The trousers are made with @bellalovespatterns Neta pattern, see last picture in the gallery. This pattern is my absolute favourite for trousers now! I tried Bella’s Billy pattern before and I love Meta pattern even more than Billy ❤️ It’s has perfect volume, not as wide as Billy but still loose fit 👍 Also the sewing technique for Neta is easier and it takes less time to make them. One interesting fact about Bella’s patterns: I’m in between the 2 height groups, 165cm tall, and I noticed that for top pieces group 2 (170 cm) works best for me, whereas for bottoms group 1 (160 cm) is definitely better. I did have to add 4 cm to the bottom of the trousers, but I like how it fits on the hips and waist way more than when I take group 2 for trousers. I tested it when was making Billy trousers, made 2 pairs of them in 2 different height groups and definitely like group 1 more. For Neta it also works the same way. Just a note in case you are also exactly in between the 2 heights 😉 What do you think, should I make a matching blazer for this outfit? Using Me Made May to document some things I’ve been sitting on. Here’s a pair of pink wool trousers that have been in my head for a year, with wool from Gorgeous Fabrics thats been in my stash for a decade 😬. The pattern is @bellalovespatterns Neta trousers. It’s a really good pattern! I love BLP’s instructions, I find them very easy to follow even for complicated steps. This was the first time I’ve sewn a fly without having to unpick my work.  I’m 5’3”, the height she designs to for the shorter group in her patterns. I lowered the waistband an inch — I’ve found I don’t love a super high waist.  I used the Top Down, Center Out method to fit these, but tried to skip the muslin step. I know other people have success with fit-as-you-go but I don’t think it’s for me unless I’m using a pattern I’ve already made. The results are fine. Good, even! But it was stressful for me, and I don’t have a corrected pattern to work off of now for another iteration.  Last image is the Dries van Noten pink trousers that I loved too much, and the outfit I plan on wearing all next winter. #netatrousers #blpneta blpnetatrousers #memademay2025 #memademay #dcsews

My 2025 plans, sewing edition ✨ Skills wise I challenged myself a lot last year and want to take that into this year. In 2024 I made my first ever bra and I’d love to take it one step further in 2025 to make a balcony bra and briefs. Also I’d love to finish sewing a jacket (I’ve started two, finished zero), make a vegan leather bag and possibly make a pair of jeans if I get to it. Neta trouser details 🪡👀 My latest sew, the #blpneta trousers by @bellalovespatterns, is an ode to the chic cord and velvet wide leg trousers Max Mara released for fall. Like all BLP patterns, the instructions are incredibly detailed (with pictures at every step which I personally love). There's so many finishing details I appreciated while sewing these (like the bias bound inner waistband, invisible hem) that left me feeling like I sewed something truly bespoke. This pattern recommends sewing these up in linen/cotton/suitings - by omitting the optional front and back creases, the pattern actually sewed up wonderfully in corduroy! In terms of sizing, I sewed a size 8 (my waist fell at a size 8, and my hips in between 8 and 10), and the fit was spot on without any motifications. I seem to drown in wide leg pants being petite, but the leg shape is just the right amount of wide as to not overwhelm my frame. The stitched front pleats and back darts also lend to its flattering shape around the hips and waist. You can bet this will not be my last pair of Neta's. Look good, feel good 🩷✨️ I was talking to a dear friend recently about how we dress and why we dress the way we do. I was sharing how important it is for me to put myself together every day even though my "job" doesn't require it. And she shared with me something another friend of hers always says: "look good, feel good!" Gosh, that just resonated with me so much. Werbung! Da ich hier aktuell so garnicht vertreten bin, bin ich mal gespannt wem das überhaupt noch angezeigt wird. Genäht habe ich schon vor Wochen #schnittmusterberlinchania und die #blpnetatrousers . Das Schnitt von Ellens Shirt ist supercool. Da hat sich @schnittmuster_berlin mal wieder was tolles überlegt in Sachen Schnittführung und Nähablauf. Ein zweites habe ich auch schon genäht. Wurde allerdings sofort an Frau Mutti verschenkt. @bellalovespatterns hat mit der Neta trousers auch eine tolle und sehr bequemen geradlinigen Schnitt konstruiert. Beides zusammen = perfekt Match 🍀🌈. Day 30 of #memademay2025 (yesterday) wearing a totally new outfit for the National Concert Hall season launch which I played a short solo for. Top: #lennetop by @lore.piar in a tencel French terry. I sized up in the shoulders and then graded down for the rest. I love this elevated basic, and it was pretty quick and easy to put together. Trousers: #blpneta trousers by @bellalovespatterns in a cotton gabardine twill. I redrafted the waistband to be curved as it was gaping in the toile I made. The pattern does recommend fabric with drape, but I thought structured would look nice too but I’m actually not totally convinced now 🤪 The instructions are really really good and these are definitely the fanciest trousers I own. Super secret pajamas 💭💙 For the past year, I've been working to elevate my wardrobe, striving for the balance between dressing up (which I love!) and dressing for my everyday life with little kids. I loved my corduroy #blpnetatrousers that I made last fall and wanted to sew a casual pair for spring, too. I sewed this pair up in a lyocell twill; it is a great option if you 1) love soft fabric and 2) are looking for something a bit more casual. I enjoyed sewing these up, as like all her patterns, the instructions are incredibly detailed and leave you with a bespoke pair of trousers 👌. I also really appreciate that the designer offers her patterns in two height groups, leaving the shortening out of the picture for me.
