Thought introducing myself for those you who just arrived and for those who have been here from a long time.
I'm Isabela (Bella), I live and breathe sewing, and I'm a confessed #sewingnerd. I'm the kind of person who sees a beautiful dress and run to check the guts! Construction matters!
For me the inside has to be as beautiful as the outside โจ๐
Making beautiful clothes is the details, in the precess, what you'll have at the end is just consequences of all the care you take to make long lasting clothes.
Oh yeah I'm meant to introduce myself....so
I'm from Brazil and I have been living in London, soon to be 12 years. And yes, I write with lots of typos, I have an accent that will never leave me, get used to it if you are going to stick around ๐
I've learned sew by watching my mum and aunts sew, and practice when they were not around. My mum says when I was 2 yrd she caught baby Bella sitting under the machine's cabinet hand sewing and singing ๐ชก๐ถ
Later I studied industrial clothing production and fashion designing from my late tees and early 20's. Only later I realised I was not interested in fashion as much as I was in clothing construction, fitting & making thing with my own hand as opposed to designing.
In 2019 I launched I my first sewing pattern. (Which I will slowing take down old patterns!)
A few months ago I quited my tailoring job to focus on this project. There still a lot of things I want to do from paying myself to a more inclusive size range, there's a long road to go.
But BLP is a work in progress because I'm in process too, to learn ever more and show you the things you can do, and how wonderful sewing can be!
This is already too long, and I haven't even mentioned the dress in the pic. I made this dress a year ago, I never posted on the feed, I mostly work on the stories, so always check them!
