🍄🍄 Now that it has been gifted, I can finally share what I’ve been working on recently. This cute little Fairy House was such a joy to make for a friend’s daughter for Christmas as slow projects, with lots of small details, are my favourite. I started the house with no concrete plan in mind and added each little idea as I went along. The result is this beautiful little play house, with removable flower roof, to use with peg dolls, Sylvanians or anything else imaginable. My daughters love theirs that I made a few years ago and they’re definitely an heirloom piece that is made to last. 🍄🍄 I used the @twigandtale Toadstool House pattern with a few changes to make it hollow. Instead of the Mushroom Cap roof, I used the Sunny hat(with the flower add on) to cut the flower shape from stiff felt. All the small details were done by hand, including the construction of the flower top. Hopefully it is well loved ❤️

Amazing April Or not so amazing in my case, April feels like it's been a busy, sickness filled month with low energy so I've been surprised what how much I've actually achieved making wise. I'm starting to make real progress on my @twigandtale #TTToadstoolVillage now. Tonight I stuffed the toadstool tops. This month's storyteller theme is sustainable - I have challenged myself to make this project only using leftover/reminant fabric and fabric scraps, to make as much use as possible of the fabric that is already available. The fabric used so far have been leftovers from recent projects the red/pink used to be the lining in an old pair of curtains I dyed and made some dungarees from, the rest of the fabric is some grey gingham formally a duvet cover that I got second hand and was very well worn, that I used to make a quiet book in December. The white fleece was leftover from my recent hoodie project and the embroidery thread I've acquired and it may well be older than me. Tonight I have been working on the tops - they have been stuffed with a combination of overlocker off cuts, threads/snippets of wool and some fleece/wadding scraps that I have been storing. #TTStorytellers #SewYourStory #toadstoolvillage #TwigandTale #TwigandTaleToadstool #TwigandTaleToadstools

I'm making a start on my first project as a Twig and Tale Storyteller 🎉 This month's theme is sustainability, one part of this for me is finding a use for every scrap of fabric I can. We would benefit from a couple of extra doorstops upstairs so I'm making two Toadstool Village toadstools - one large and one small (for behind the door) . I'm planning on stuffing them with fabric scraps and making them out of leftover fabric from previous projects. But first I am going to embroider some details onto the body of the toadstool. I sketched out the design I'm aiming for in a heat erasable pen, and I've interfaced this fabric as it's part of a second hand duvet cover and fairly thin. And on the last day of my month, I finished the project I've been working on as a Twig and Tale Storyteller. This month's storyteller theme has been sustainability and some of the other storytellers have made some amazing projects and upcycles this month. I decided to focus on making a project entirely out of leftovers from other projects, fabric and materials that could have been described as waste by other sewists, instead turned into something useful. I really enjoyed making these. Making was slowed down abit this month thanks to a case of conjunctivitis, but it was worth the effort of putting in all the extra detail. The toadstool bodies are made from leftover fabric originally some bedding I picked up secondhand and stuffed very tightly with fabric scraps. Right now they are a little bit wobbly but as the fabric settles these should hopefully level out. The flowers, vines and bee have been embroidered on using embroidery thread which I believe is older than me. The tops are made from some leftover curtain fabric, and the spots are some fleece scraps - I love the texture this gives. The tops are stuffed with lightweight scraps - such as overlocker trimmings, thread/wool offcuts and some batting trimmings I had. My daughter was very pleased when I said these were for her room, they are intended to be doorstops, the large one for the front and the small one to buffer the door from hitting her bedframe. But they have a play element too, so I anticipate they will be played with as well as having function. Another month older for our littlest, so another new character. Went for Princess Peach this time using a combination of @littlelizardking Baby Bonn, Baby Lucern, and shrinking the over skirt on Lund. This is size 3 mo on a 2T mannequin so the back wouldn’t close. Her little toadstool friends are the toadstool village pattern from @twigandtale. One day I’ll set aside the time to do a version with the adorable embroidery. We’ll be on the watch today for any Bowsers incase he gets confused.
