This second bonnet was for my eldest daughter, and she has worn it more than I expected her to. I originally planned to make it from a plain fabric but she specifically requested floral and I decided to finally upcycle this shirt I’ve had since not long after she was born. The lining is the same as in the previous post. Pattern: again the @twigandtale #evergreenbonnet rabbit version. I added some lightweight interfacing to the ears, I am not sure how much difference it makes. The ties are just strips of the fabric turned out. This looks very sweet on, it’s very difficult to show exactly how it looks without showing my daughter’s face!

When a friend has a baby around Easter time, I feel like a bonnet is the perfect gift! And luckily it fit one of our little dolly heads perfectly for a picture. Embracing the spirit of @twigandtale, it is an upcycled beauty, made from a thrifted woolen blanket and a pillowcase passed down from my grandparents. So naturally, finished it with a "one of a kind" label from @kylieandthemachine A nice, quick project to get me back in the sewing room - hopefully I can keep the momentum going. Ok this is the last bonnet post I promise, I just loved this photo and felt it needed its own square on the grid! We have a new baby niece in the family and when I visited there was a definite mustard yellow theme going on. I had some scraps of double gauze leftover from a blouse I made my eldest back in 2020, and it was just enough to make this bonnet, this time without ears, and a bit bigger so that it will hopefully fit in Summer. I cut the ties on the crossgrain as fabric was limited, and as you can see it turned out so lightweight that it flies around in the wind. Pattern is once again the #evergreenbonnet from @twigandtale

Probably about time to post my devil bonnet to the grid! I made it to keep myself warm while trick or treating with the kids but it ended up being a beautiful 20 degree night (thanks global warming 🥲) I made this with a scrap of red felt that was cushioning some vintage Christmas dishes my great aunt passed along to me that were originally my grandmas. The red doily was also in there. Reduce reuse recycle ♻️ 😁 I used the twig and tale evergreen baby bonnet in the largest size and just added half an inch all around. I eyeballed the horns and stuffed them with thread clippings and a bit of scrap quilt batting and they stood right up and didn’t flop over at all! 😈 #twigandtale #evergreenbonnet #devilbonnet #diyhalloweencostume

I made my daughters Easter bonnets with rabbit ears. My eldest wore hers a lot, the youngest refused completely; this is hers. Pattern: @twigandtale #evergreenbonnet with rabbit ears. For both children I made a size bigger than their measurements, and the bonnets still came out pretty snug. I reckon this one won’t fit for long. Fabric: the exterior is some leftover pale pink needlecord from a jacket I made a couple of years ago; the interior is a scrap of floral cotton lawn I got from my Mum’s scrap collection. The interior of the ears are made with pinstriped pink and white cotton from the dodgy deadstock shop here in Budapest. I used up several small scraps with this project and it was very satisfying! In the last photo you can see three bonnets, I will post each separately because I got some really pretty photos in our friends’ beautiful garden.

Just in time for Easter 🐣 Late to the bunny hats, but here is mine, indeed a quick sew. First time making the evergreen bonnet. Decided I wanted bias binding instead of top stitching . Had to kinda figure out how to attach it 😂 as I use it as my ties as well. After making a pathfinder vest with a hood. Making this wasn't hard. Loving the fur top . It came out very nicely, I didn't use interfacing for the ears. But added some top stitching to hold it more firmly to the center hood. I‘m a bit overwhelmed by holiday shopping for my kids (now 3 and 5) right now. Everything is in huge amounts of packaging and not necessarily designed to last. They do have some of those toys, but I wanted to throw something different into the mix. So I made them some slow-sewed stocking stuffers out of scraps I had hanging around (the bunny is even stuffed with the tiniest of fabric scraps). I tried to go for something that ties in with their interests and would have good play value – and I couldn’t resist some matching hats for dress up. All of the patterns are from @twigandtale. For the bunny set, I used the Evergreen Bonnet and Bunny patterns along with the Wildflower and Garden Posie embrodieries. And the doll set uses the Pixie Hat and Pebble Pocket Doll along with the Woodland Alphabet and Toadstool embroideries. This was rather an impromptu project, inspired by my littlest wanting to be a pink bunny. She chose the details- pink fabric, rainbow lining and bunnies stitched on the outside. Most of the embroidery was done on our Vanuatu trip. Moso Island was a beautiful place to sit, be still and stitch. All but one of the patterns were kindly gifted to me as a Storyteller. The Bunny in the Grasses I have purchased and stitched previously. My little bunny loves hopping around and matching her doll. This family is currently in a state of happyness! After almost 2 months of car-less existence, we finaly got a new one!! But i try to keep the good habbits i started in the time.. rather doing the grocery shopping with my bike and the hanger.. and not with the car.. Had a blast making this bunny bonnet for my sweetiepie today out of some scraps from my stash! This is a size medium Evergreen Bonnet from Twig and Tale. It came together like a dream. I first learned about this pattern from a dear sewing friend who made and sent me a cat version for my daughter when she was born. It's so lovely to receive such a thoughtful gift and I know my daughter will love this one because 1. She likes hats, 2. Actually sewing is all about details like evening out the gathers of a dress, topstitching a seam to make is more durable, choosing just the right fabric to make the project heart- jumping, undoing a seam because it wasn’t straight, picking the right buttons……. Happy Easter! 🐰🐣⛪ Bunnies are #ttevergreenbonnet from @twigandtale My coat is a #novacoat from @papercutpatterns , fabric from @fabcyclevan (made in fall 2022 while very pregnant) and my dress is a #bhlhannahdress from @byhandlondon , fabric from @blackbirdfabrics (supposed to be my Easter dress three years ago but actually not finished until June, haha) Hot cross buns are the best recipe ever from @aimeebourque And my coffee got cold while I was loading up Easter eggs.... Continuing to consider this month's #whalebonestitchclub prompt, I have a tendency to be hard on myself for having more ideas than resources to execute them (time, money, interfacing, whatever). I would love to have a 100% handmade and/or ethically, locally produced wardrobe, and I don't. I would love to be able to finish Easter hats AND Easter baskets, and I finished the hats but only started the baskets. But I do have pretty clothes that I feel good in, and two maniacally happy bunnies, and a fun project to keep working on now that all the extra church is over! (PSA, the Easter season is 50 days long, so I should *definitely* be able to both finish the baskets and drink at least one cup of coffee while it's still hot before Easter is over.)

After a short period of winter, today summer is back.. Nature is confused.. i am confused, confused but happy.. but still a bit confused..
