#waiwot @consistentlydifferentdesigns project of the day was a cute #ttpetalwrapdress @twigandtale which is a free pattern if you subscribe to their newsletter! I had the inspiration to firstly use up the last of my #indiablockprint fabric and then I visualised a chicken pocket complete with egg that could hatch a chicken (these are joined really securely to the pocket which is the same as the original … I just added the head and tail using #rawedgeapplique … I created a little wing pocket to hold the egg! I then did some #freemotionquilting using my #jukitl98p before stitching the pockets in place: I decided to just continue using the same freemotion technique over the applique and to edge stitch the pockets in place down … finally using black thread to do the detail. This is to be gifted to a work colleague little girl who is 18 months old. This dress is fully reversible with a unicorn print on the other side … little elastic loops are used to fasten the wrap with two little buttons under each arm. Very clever but simple pattern with great instructions … highly recommend this. Sharing this tiny 0-3 month Petal as my Work in Progress project. This has been the @twigandtale Storyteller’s theme for this month. There is so many elements that could be taken into account for this months theme, and I’ve settled on exploring the growth in my sewing skills and the growth in my confidence as I am giving this as a baby gift. A few snippets from the last month ✨ It's been a busy month (with lots of sickness) and birthday sewing for my twin daughters and two nieces (most of which I did not get any photos of 🤦🏻‍♀️). Now that birthday month is done, I'll be getting back to making more dolls in preparation for Christmas! I received the most divine photo today from a dear friend (see pic 2). Back in February 2022 I made a custom Petal Wrap dress for her granddaughters birthday using a Twig & Tale pattern. The stunning dog and the gorgeous child are definitely a distraction from the dress but it did turn out so beautifully. This is now the third season of wear. Twig and Tale patterns are known for the longevity of their designs. As with their Coats and Vests you get so much wear from these designs year after year, long after the price of purchasing handmade is forgotten. They are definitely slow fashion, special and so much nicer than mass produced ready to wear from retail stores ... AND they last. They are comfortable for the kids and they are perfect for upcycling old unwanted blankets, tablecloths, pillow cases and bed sheets plus more. Thank you Julie & Grazi for allowing me to share. A couple of gift petal dresses this afternoon, for some twins turning three in a few weeks. They are often dressed in matching outfits, so I was quite pleased to find fabrics to make these kind of matchy but still different - mum can have them both in birds, or both in the peachy shades, or both in insects, or in the yellow and black sides if they don’t want to match that day. The twins are a year younger than miss 4 but nearly the same height so I’ve made these in a size 4 so they should last them a while - and even longer if mum keeps them in them when they grow out of the dress size and they turn into tunics. #twigandtale #ttpetalwrapdress

I got the blue (left) flowery fabric to make the middle child a skirt, but once it was washed and ironed we ended up with her wanting a top, so I ended up buying, downloading and printing the #ttpetalwrapdress larger size pattern (the original is free and sized for 0-5yo I believe, whereas the one I got has 5-10, with very clear size charts). Once we got to taping and cutting down the pattern, she decided she wants the dress version, which means I need to go get an extra half metre of both the blue and another flowery fabric we already had. (The dress is meant to be reversible.) (Yes, both pieces of fabric are folded in the picture.)

Another sibling set but this time its two Petal Wrap dresses which I have shared on my Stories already. Both size 4 ... in the prettiest complimentary colours. Poplin fabric is lightweight and very cool for hot summer days. I must say I still prefer the weight of quilting cotton though. I am still trying to decide on pricing for these as I will be offering them as custom orders after I had several people me asking if I was going to make them to sell. They are so versatile. They can be reversible if desired. They can be made from blankets or corduroy (which I have done before) or vintage teatowels and tablecoths....Denim is good too. So many ideas come to mind. These little Petal Wrap Dresses in pastel corduroy were such fun to modify and make! I think the back is my fave, or the little flower pocket on one of them. When @ally_hanlen asked if I could make this, I was confident but also curious if I could pull it off? I think I did pretty well. What do you think? Thanks to my horrendous math skills, I way over ordered fabric for these sooo I have plenty if you’d like one too! Happy to make more, just get in touch for a price and design options.
