Tiny Dragon was Zog for Halloween! (A friendly orange dragon, for anyone not familiar with Julia Donaldson's books.) We went trick or treating for the first time and she really enjoyed herself. Book Week 2022 - Dragon Girls 🐉 When my 5yo decided to go as a Dragon Girl for Book Week, my 3yo immediately decided that’s what he wanted to go as too! So I made him a “Mei the Ruby Treasure Dragon” costume. I had already made him the wings for Christmas last year, so I just had to add a tail, ears and horns. 🐉 I used all @twigandtale patterns - the #TTDragonWings, and the dragon ears, dragon tail and unicorn horns from the #TTAnimalAddOn and #TTDragonAddOn. All the fabric, thread and stuffing is second hand with new elastic, head band and interfacing to complete it. The Rush of Sewjo My son saw the Dragon Wings from @twigandtale last May while I was scrolling and immediately started asking for them. I slowly gathered al the supplies, with the intention of sewing them for Halloween. September came, I thought “there is still time”, October came and I thought “I should really start now”, last week came and I thought I had not enough time to do it. I felt defeated. I felt like I failed. Then yesterday came and I thought “F**k it let’s try!” I sacrificed hours of sleep to the gods of sewing and they blessed me. Everything went smoothly, all new techniques that I immediately grasped and it was immensely fun. The wings were a success, far from perfect, don’t get me wrong, but a success nonetheless. Book Week 2022 - Dragon Girls 🐉 My daughter chose “Aisha the Sapphire Treasure Dragon” from the Dragon Girls series for book week this year. I made her some wings, horns, ears and a tail to wear with some blue clothes. I used this beautiful iridescent silk I found at an op shop - I love how the light plays off it and the quilting in the wings really helped highlight this gorgeous fabric! 🐉 I used the @twigandtale #TTDragonWings pattern for the wings, and the dragon ears and tail and unicorn horns from the @twigandtale #TTAnimalAddOn. I sewed the tail onto 5cm wide black non-roll elastic, and sewed/glued the ears and horns onto a headband. I decided to make different “pieces” so that they can be used for play and be a fun addition to the dress up box! 🐉 The silk, satin, cotton, thread and stuffing were second hand. My 2 year old has discovered a love for the dragon wings I originally sewed for my oldest son 2 years ago! I am amazed at how well the wings hold up, considering the abuse they receive from the boys. It’s a fearsome, fire-breathing water dragon! We started with mermaid scale pjs from @happyhannas and wrist streamers from @sarahssilks. Then I made a pair of @twigandtale dragon wings and a slightly modified mask pattern from @rebeccajpage.
