Day 3 - Me Made May 2025 (the fat edition). Wasn’t going to post. Schlepped around the house all day wearing RTW trackies and tee, doing laundry and eating our election day anxieties in McVities and toasted cheese sangers. And then we ran out of both cheese and McVities and also everything else so I needed to do the fucking groceries. So here we are at 3.45 pm on a Saturday DEFYING the inevitable cold change the moment the sun dips as I get back home. Wish this @twigandtale Fable dress was longer, not gonna lie. Otherwise it’s a perfect autumn frock. Might make another one because that waistline sits straight from front to back. #memademay2025 #memademayfat2025 #memademaycoven2025 #mmmayfat2025 #twigandtale #fabledress

The sun is shining and it makes me long for spring! What does a seamstress do when longing for a season? Sew for that season. And so I did! The dress is the Fable dress from @twigandtale . I chose to sew a version with short sleeves and an elastic in the back. No major adjustments, I only added little thread loops so I can wear it with a belt. I styled it with a longsleeve shirt, thights, wool socks, boots, a beret and a self-crocheted scarf. I might need to add a cardigan to be properly cosy. I added tiny little embroideries here and there, keep an eye on my feed for a post about that! Pattern: #fabledress from @twigandtale , size J with a narrow shoulder adjustment and graded to size I for the waist Fabric: yellow cotton with a dark green grid, bought at @destoffenkamer quite a while ago. This fabric was really waiting for the perfect project Notions: buttons from @destoffenkamer Outfit details: -self-crocheted scarf, following the Klimopsjaal pattern from the ‘bijzondere sjaals haken’-book from @alasascha - longsleeve: drafted and sewn by me - tights from @snagtights - boots from @memeryshoes - beret from @theenglishhatter

Of course I bought too much fabric for the stacker jacket I made for my daughter and of course I used it to make a matchy for her daughter, a sweet winter dress for 4 year old Zadie. Pattern is the fable dress from @twigandtalepatterns. I’ll try and get a mother/daughter photo shoot when we’re all together in a couple of weeks. EVERYONE VOTE BLUE!!! Look at this beauty! She deserved a #memademay debut, but it turns out I don’t control time. I’ve been wanting to construct some more winter dresses for a while and this was a fabulously quick win (as well as being fabulous)- the fabric is deep stash Ankara (gifted many many years ago) and the pattern is the @twigandtale #fabledress, which I’ve made and perfected before, so I was able to just cut and sew without having to check anything. From memory, my adjustment to this dress was just an FBA and shifting of the shoulder seam for my bad posture. I wore this to work and got compliments and a comfy day, so this is winner. #handmade #sewing #twigandtale #ankara #isewmyownclothes #isewmyclothes #imakemyownclothes #imakemyclothes #curvysewist

A quick bathroom selfie of my Fable dress from @twigandtale styled for winter! Thanks to its timeless shape, it is great for many occasions. Even though it's a very bright spring color and pattern, it's fun to bring out to help fight the winter blues. I added some thick tights, wool socks, boots, and this merino wool sweater to keep me cozy. . . . #memadewardrobe #winterdresses #layering #vintageinspired #twigandtale #fabledress #historybounding #naturalfibers #ootd #plussizeootd #plussizecottagecore

🪡🧶 AUTUMN 2024 PLANS 🧶🪡 Days are feeling distinctly shorter and I'll be putting my summer plans to bed soon (I just want to make the Marigold dress as I've toiled it and don't want to leave it a year to come back to it). There are some transitional pieces I hope I still get to (Saturday Skirt / Springe Dress / March hack) and I've got swimwear here while I'm on a roll and I swim regularly. To be honest now I've sketched these out they don't scream cosy vibes (apart from the Love Number Sweater and Pogonip). Anyway these are the things at top of mind based on what I want to sew in the next few months with fabric / yarn I already have. @fridaypatterncompany #jiasurfsuit #twinlakestwopiece #pogonippullover @stylearc #sundayactiveshorts @helens__closet #dawsontop #sandpiperswimsuit @lilykatemakes #lovenumbersweater @ravijennaknits #everydaycompanionshawlette @merchantandmills #franclidaypack @paradisepatterns #blommatank @bornellafabrics @twigandtale #fabledress #memadeeveryday #thanksimadeit #sewinguk #sewover40 #sewsewsew #sewist #sewistsofinstagram #sewingismysuperpower #slowfashion #memadewardrobe #sewersgonnasew #sewinginstagram #sewinginspiration #sewingplans #knittingplans

I missed #memademay day 19 (crazy day), but I did photograph it. I don’t have very many infrequently worn clothes, although I do have many that don’t get photographed very often. This is neither - I wear is all through winter and I’m sure it’s been featured many times. But that’s how it goes - it’s a great wear for when you want to be warm, comfy, colourful and also well put together (that’s all the boxes, right?). Pattern: @twigandtale #fabledress (why haven’t I made another one yet?) Fabric: @maaidesign flannelette (I can’t remember what they call it, but it’s a heavy brushed cotton, very soft hand, good structure and not very much nap. This colour is called goldfish). With special guest from a 50-odd year old cashmere jumper that belonged to my father in law. #memademay2025 #handmade #sewing #mmmay25 #imakemyownclothes #imakemyclothes #isewmyownclothes #isewmyclothes #curvysewist #maaidesign #twigandtale

Got to see and show these beautiful sleeves with @twigandtale ! They created a 6 piece sleeve pack that works with their Plains dress and Fable dress patterns. I made the flounce sleeve from the sprig sleeve pack on the plains dress for a little drama on a simple and elegant shift dress. I went with this beautiful dusty blush viscose linen noil I picked up from @boltfabricpdx last year as it can show off just how lovely these sleeves drape. This dress and sleeves are very approachable and I could sew them in just a day. I highly recommend both patterns and even if you haven't learned all skills needed, the instructions are very detailed so if you want to make this dress I am confident you can even if you're early in your sewing journey. Can't wait to make a fable dress with these sleeves! I also love the pleated and long sleeve with a tab views, which will probably end up on a flannel dress this fall. #fabledress #springsleeves #plainsdress #twigandtale #ttsewandshare #seattlesewist #seattleartist #sewistsofinstagram #ithaspockets

Today I’m sharing my next make as part of the @twigandtale Storytellers team - a floaty Fable dress! It has princess seams and a button down bodice - it was a dream to sew up, with great instructions and lots of options for both the actual garment and finishing details. Our storytellers theme for July is WIPs, and I knew immediately what I wanted to talk about. The thing that is a continual work in progress for me in terms of my sewing practice is my relationship with sustainability. I recently read @patrickgrantism 's new book, Less, which advocates for buying less, but better, more considered, more ethical. I’ve long considered myself as making a more sustainable choice through the mere act of sewing my own clothes rather than participating in fast fashion, and I do think to a certain extent that remains true. The level of harm the home sewing community can do is capped at a much smaller upper limit than that of the fast fashion industry. However, I have found myself personally inspired by the idea of being much more meticulous when selecting my materials, when dreaming up a project - Patrick sounds so passionate when talking about his brand, Community Clothing, and I would love to be able to speak with at least some of that same confidence of ethics about my own projects. This brings me back to this Fable dress. It is made from a deadstock viscose crepe - I bought it last year with very little thought as to what its origins might be. Inspired by the book, I decided now to investigate: using Google Lens I tracked down that it was originally used by Nobody’s Child. Then, on Vinted, I found some of those existing garments and their accompanying tags - which confirmed the fabric as 100% lenzing ecovero. So I’m actually very pleased that this is a) deadstock and b) ecovero viscose - now, to do some of that same work BEFORE I make purchases, not after! 😊 ✨ Fabric - viscose crepe from @legendtextiles ✨ Pattern - #ttfabledress (gifted) #sewyourstory #ttstorytellers #ttfable #fabledress #memadewardrobe #handmade #sewistsofinstagram #imadethis #memadeoutfit #thanksimadeit #sewinginstagram #sewingUK #memadeeveryday

23 May: couldn’t get a full length photo today so here’s two me-mades - a #fabledress and a quilt. I did a sneaky two-step today and shunted myself out of the house at lunchtime to attend an hour or two of the craft show. My modern quilt guild had a little exhibition on, it was payday, and as my boss says, spending money is medicine. And I do love a crafting business. Especially when there are lots of crafting businesses in one place 5 minutes from my house! It was an extra special moment today when I finally met the delightful Maaike from @maaidesign! I didn’t purchase any fabric today 😔… but I will be tonight so I can get the right amount for some special projects! He he. #memademay2024 #memademayfat2024

When they dress alike, it’s double the charm and double the love. Watching these girls twinning in these beautiful purple fairy dresses from @alittlefable_official felt like seeing two little dreams walking around the house; pure, magical, and full of mischief! There’s something so special about moments like these; when they giggle in sync, pose with their tiny hands holding each other, and twirl like they’re in their own fairytale. These dresses aren’t just outfits; they’re a memory stitched in lilac and love. Forever my little fairies, always twinning, always winning my heart💜 #TwinningGoals #FairyGirls #PurpleMagic #MomLife #SistersInStyle #FableFashion #MatchingOutfits #GirlsInDresses #ChildhoodMagic #fabledress

I am currently pregnant and having a hard time with most of my clothes fitting me comfortably, but I’ve been living in my #TTFableDress the past few days (also my Driftwood Dress) I made this to wear for last Thanksgiving and for some reason I haven’t reached for it much. I made it with homespun cotton and made fabric covered buttons for it. I also sewed a button to each side so I could do detachable ties. Instead of sewing the ties into the seam, I sewed buttonholes on one end of the ties so they could attach to the buttons. I really enjoy the fabric covered buttons and want to do this to more dresses in the future. Ignore the ties, the buttonhole end is unfinished because I made them the day of Thanksgiving right before we had to leave 🤣 I also heavily altered the princess seams, did a broad shoulder adjustment and added length to the bodice #TTFableDressSeated #FableDressSeated

Do you ever feel like your clothes are constantly trying to slip backwards, or pull up in the back? We can help fix that! It is quite common for sewists to need to adjust for a variety of different fit needs, both for simple grading between sizes and more involved fit adjustments. Here at Twig + Tale, we've curated a robust collection of tutorials for all of our patterns to make this process that much easier. In the case above, many find that their garments fit better after a High Rounded Back adjustment, which adds some additional space at the top of the shoulders to allow for better fit over a more rounded shoulder shape that can be due to computer use, disability, natural body shape, and a variety of other factors. We've made this process, and many other fit adjustments, super simple for T+T favourites like Fable and Scenic - you may find they work well on your non-T+T patterns, too! I'll pop a button in our bio link so you can check out this adjustment and many others on the T+T blog. 📸 A gorgeous Fable Dress by @lambsonlittles

I love how much the "personality" of a dress changes depending on the fabrics you use - there's so many ways to reprise a favourite pattern, and still have each one end up so unique! Just take these two Fables - one in a fun floral by @thebooksthebobbinsandme, and one in a classy black by @allisonrnance, and both oh-so-gorgeous. ✨ What about you - do you tend to be a pattern-repeater, and remake favourites over and over?

It can be so easy to fall into the "single-use garment" trap this time of year - can't it? All the events, all the cries of "more" and "new" and "better"...but, here's your "permission" to simply use the pieces you already love, time and again! (Not that you needed our permission 😉 ) Timeless pieces like this wool Fable Dress by @tinymakes transition beautifully from walks in the park to even the fanciest events, dressing up and down easily as needed. And, when you have a well-fit garment that feels like a beautiful embrace - why not enjoy it as often as you can? Do you have a go-to handmade piece you enjoy reusing again and again? What are your tips for making the sorts of pieces you'll love enough to wear on repeat?

A Little Black Dress (yes, that’s with capitals). Everybody has that, right? Well, I didn’t have one anymore. And although it’s not a perfect color for me as a deep autumn, it is a color from my sister season so I can get away with it. The pattern I used is the Fable dress from Twig & Tale, but I did some modifications. First of all, I changed the round neckline into a V-neck. That way, I can combine it with some gold jewelry to make it appear warmer. Second modification is in the sleeves. I used the standard sleeve and with slashing and spreading the sleeve head I turned it into a gathered sleeve. Because the standard sleeve is quite wide, it was a bit too wide in combination with the gathering. As a solution for that, I used a pleat on the hem of the sleeve to make it more elegant. And the final element I used to make it more soft, was using linen. It’s quite a stiff linen so the sleeves and skirt hold their shape, but it still has a softer vibe. That being said, it fits right into the theme of the Twig & Tale storytellers in June: transform(ation)! Pattern: Fable dress from @twigandtale with modified neckline and sleeves, kindly gifted to me for being a storyteller Fabric: black linen from @destoffenkamer Notions: black buttons from @framalo.stofjesenco , bought at our amazing sewing weekend when I was making this dress #ttfabledress #ttfabledresshack #ttstorytellers #ttstoryteller2025 #sewyourstory #twigandtale #destoffenkamer #framalostofjesenco

🌿 Slow sewing & work in progress ☘️ The bad news is that I duffed up the button band by installing the buttonholes slightly too far in. The good news however, is that the Fable dress in gingham fabric makes the perfect backdrop and blank canvas for adding your own decorative details and embellishments ✨️ Sometimes even though I have an idea in my head of the 'what', I can't fully visualise the 'how' and so I tell myself to embrace the unknown and trust that it will be revealed to me along the way. This was my first time trying Chicken scratch embroidery and it won't be the last, I have discovered a new obsession 😅 I cut a longer length skirt to allow myself the flexibility to change my mind later on. I'll wear the dress over winter and decide if I want to crop it. Then I could add more details to the hem. For now though, I can happily accept that it's a very wearable work in progress. *gifted* #ttfabledress @twigandtale Yarn dyed gingham fabric from @escape_and_create_uk Also if you like the look of this embroidery you can find a gorgeous example by my T&T craftmate @alittlecorner.of.mei and also checkout @blairs who ran a fun webinar I attended recently ☺️💜 . . . #TTstorytellers #twigandtale #pfaffuk #embroidery #ginghamdress #handmade #sewistsofinstagram #memadewardrobe #pfaffingaround #sewing #chickenscratchembroidery

Did you see my blog post over at @twigandtale ? As part of this year's storyteller team, I did a deep dive on May's theme "everyday magic" to try and find new creative routines and pleasures after a breathless whirlwind style of making last year. I've loved to explore a, again, more conscious approach not only to my making but also how I go about my day. June's theme now is all about transformation and I will follow a quite literate interpretation of this by "transforming" what I already have at home (i.e. fabric scraps) into little (or not so little) treasures. Think: home decor, patchwork, toymaking & baby clothes. (though, I will also "transform" that pile of half-finished or cut out projects into finished things, ideally prioritized^^) #twigandtale #TTstorytellers #sewyourstory #mindfulmaking #consciouscraft #makerstories #sewing #dollmaking #cherrycardigan #TTfabledress #TTclassicdoll #TTleafblanket #poisongrrlspatterns #nähenistwiezaubernkönnen #sewmagical

Everyday magic is being able to carry on wearing your favourite clothes as you grow and go through many changes. It's nice to reach for something familiar and be able to enjoy it as much now as you could before. The Fable dress is perfect for that, the gathered skirt had plenty to give and the only thing I do differently now is to tie the waist ties a little looser. It's also lovely to know that this dress is going to stay with me for a long time. The pattern used to sew up this magic is the Fable dress pattern from @twigandtale #TTStorytellers #ttfabledress #maternitywear

My April #TTStorytellers project - a Vista top using this beautiful floral cotton lawn 🤗. I used yellow thread for all the seams and topstitching, and a yellow hedgehog 🦔 label (🥺) which gives me SO much joy. I love the shape and the depth of the V-neck so I think this will by go-to base for V-neck tops. Oh and I used the included sleeve pattern this time because it’s dramatic as-is, but there’s also the option to use one of the #TTSprigSleeveAddOn sleeves in case you want to switch it up. I’ll be using one of those for my next storytellers project (a #TTFableDress) so you’ll get to see that soon! Speaking of sleeves - I made the elbow-length version. Because the hem is elasticated, you can adjust them to sit just above or just below the elbow, which affects the volume you get. Pulling them above the elbows gives a kind of fluffy bubble sleeve effect ☁️ (2nd photo). I have the pleasure to be part of the @twigandtale storyteller team again this year 🌿 This month’s theme is imagination, and for me a big part of sewing my own clothes is imagining what they’d look like on me. Of course, with social media and the big variety of pattern designers, this has become a lot easier. To not be blinded by fabric choices or the model wearing the clothes, I always try to find a drawing of the garment before purchasing the pattern. The fable dress, the one I’m wearing in the photo, was a dress I loved from the very beginning. Or at least, I loved the drawing - but could not imagine it looking good on my body type. But as some of my fellow #ttstorytellers were making the dress, I just really fell in love with i, seeing it on different people, in different fabrics and with different sleeves, lengths, you name it. I made a toile, a bit reluctant and expecting it to need a lot of adjustment, but no! It was such a good fit, I decided to finish the toile and dye it green. It’s made from an old bedsheet and was just giving me too many bedsheet-vibes haha, but the dyeing helped. I guess what I want to say is: social media and seeing photos of people with all body shapes wear the clothes, really helps me to imagine how I would look in them! One of the good things about social media, to me. This sewing pattern was given to me by @twigandtale as a part of their storytellers project. #ttstorytellers #ttfabledress

It's Random Act of Kindness Day - and we think that's always a reason to celebrate. Perhaps it's a chance to work on that gift you've been meaning to sew, call that friend you've been meaning to check on...or just look for those small chances to share a kind word with those whose paths you cross. 💕 How do you like to RAK? 📷 A sweet pair of Fable Dresses by @tinymakes

Oh, we love #MeMadeMay - one of the best times all year to get to celebrate the beauty and versatility of a well-curated handmade wardrobe! Originally started some years back by @sozoblog, it's blossomed into a much-anticipated yearly tradition, where sewists can show off their handmade pieces, celebrating them as one with the rest of the online sewing world. Even more important, is the opportunity to set one's own goals for the challenge by means of a personal pledge - whether that's to add new pieces to one's wardrobe, find new ways to build outfits, or assess the pieces they have, these unique goals make the challenge something everyone can find value in. So, are you celebrating #MeMadeMay2025? What's your pledge? Whatever your goals, we'd love a chance to admire your handmade looks, so tag us in your T+T outfits! We'll be sharing a selection of them to our Story Highlights - so you can head there, too, for some amazing inspiration from across the T+T community too ✨ 📷 A stunning Fable made by @ashleymakingthings

Forgot to post this perfect holiday dress I finally took pictures of from a couple weeks back during a lovely family dinner, but another #ttfabledress (my fav) I made last year in @blackbirdfabrics viscose linen noil (midnight spruce colourway) This is before their Sprig Sleeve Pack, and I had really wanted a puffy sleeve so I used the one from #champagnefielddress by @matchymatchysewingclub which somehow fit pretty seamlessly! I've definitely already gushed over how much I love the Fable Dress so I'm just going to talk about this fabric for a minute. I just love how soft and drapey it feels, it's SO slinky which is great to wear (I think a bias cut garment with it would feel absolutely luxurious) but it's really tricky to work with and I think as a beginner I got a couple things a little wonky 😅 but I think it turned out cute still! Also the breathability is wonderful, it was actually a great summer dress as well! Anyways I'm really proud of this one so I'm glad to finally share! 💚 #bfviscoselinennoil

Consider this: if two people sew a garment using identical patterns and fabrics, do you think the results be exactly the same? Of course not, and therein lies the magic of sewing! Each maker naturally makes unique decisions throughout the creative process, ensuring a one-of-a-kind result. We've been exploring this theme of Details with our Storyteller team this month, and oh, has it been inspiring! Those details may be subtle - a seam finish or pocket lining that aren't obvious from the outside of a garment. Or, they may be bold and decorative, turning a project into a wearable work of art. The result is something completely unique, that can never be duplicated! To celebrate this month's theme, we're delighted to welcome Storyteller @huldrasherbs to the Twig + Tale blog. Join us as she shares her unique perspective on perceiving the world—noticing fine details before taking in the big picture—and how this shapes her sewing practice. As she beautifully puts it, "Don't overlook the small things. That's where the magic happens." ✨ To read more about her story, visit our profile and click on our bio link. 🌿 (While you're there, you can visit our Story Highlights to see the rest of our Storytellers amazing detail-oriented projects, too!)

Vermont may not think it’s Spring yet but I still do 🌻🌻🌻 This Fable Dress is my first project for the 2025 @twigandtale Storytellers program! I’m so excited to be in such a talented and inspiring cohort of makers. The theme for this month is Details and I fully leaned it with this dress. This Fable has all the bells and whistles like convertible tab sleeves (part of the Sprig Sleeve add-on), a fully-lined bodice, flat felled sleeve seams, and bias-bound armhole seams. I have the tendency to just want to finish a project and move onto the next one, but my goal for this project was to take my time and savor the process of each of these details. The result is a well-constructed dress I know I’ll be constantly reaching for, plus some sorely needed improvements to my patience. Pattern: Fable dress (size L from the H-T size range) with the Tab Long Sleeve option from the Sprig Sleeve add on. The only fit adjustment I made was to add two inches to the sleeve width via slashing and spreading. Technically my measurements put me into the size K, but I found the L to be more comfortable. I also added the optional elastic panel in the back for waist shaping. And I made a matching bow for my pup. This pattern was gifted to me in exchange for making and posting this dress. Fabric: The most special block print from @blackbirdfabrics. I’ve been waiting for the perfect project to use this fabric on and this was definitely it! I used a remnant of cotton from my stash for the lining and pockets.

I tried a new thing! Embroidery on a garment. It was really easy with the pattern from @twigandtale which came with lovely illustrations and great instructions. The dress is the #ttfabledress which was also a first time sew for me. I am very happy with how it turned out. Good use of scraps from previous projects (pink is linen, yellow is a linen/cotton blend, both from @wearethefabricstore ). Buttons are vintage, from my Great Auntie Patsy. Little miss enjoyed it too. #twigandtalefabledress #sewingforkids #sewingforgirls #ilovetosew #wellingtonsews #sustainablesewing #sustainablesewcialists

A few quick snaps taken over the Easter long weekend of my first @twigandtale Fable dress. I made this hoping it would be a wearable toile as I did a full bust adjustment and wanted to check the fit before I committed. I made a size 10/E based on upper bust measurements and did an FBA to add 6 inches across the bust using the tutorial on the T&T website. I’ve never done a FBA before as I’ve always found them a little intimidating, I would either make a size too big or do some awkward grading at the bust but I’m so glad I finally gave it a try. The instructions were so easy to follow and the fit has come out great. This version is made from an inherited slubby linen with the short sleeves and elastic back. I also shortened the length by about 20cm to sit above my knee. It’s such a comfortable dress and I’ve got too many ideas now! 1) a tiered maxi in a multicoloured rayon fabric 2) a lilac/purple linen colour blocked version 3) a pink linen with red piping and feature pockets. This pattern was gifted to me as part of the 2025 Twig and Tale storytellers project. #ttfabledress #sew #sewyourownstory #twigandtale #ttstorytellers #memade #memadewardrobe #sustainablesewing #sewingfrommystash #sewist #sewistsofinstagram #sewistsofaustralia

so there i am.. in a lively discussion with my kids about how they do not listen to me.. I tend to get a little bit carried away.. so this particular discussion had me peforming a little play.. i said: 'kids, when i speak i sometimes feel, you just hear bla bla bla bla! (so i proceed on demontrating a normal child briefing moment, only i replace my normal words with bla bla) 'bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla! bla bla bla? bla bla! Seid ihr damit einverstanden?' my middle child, anwers (and thus proving my point perfectly): 'yes mama' so we all had to laugh rather heartedly about that one.. but i am not sure things are going to change... well.. its okay.. they are kids.. and they when they do listen, it mostly works out great.. on the foto i am having a frustrated mum pose.. (think that works perfectly with the story😂) here i am wearing my most favourite look.. my homemade shoes, who realy realy fit so lovely!! my #ttfabledress by @twigandtale (i love this one so much, i might need an other one..) And my self drafted woolen .. well what shall we call it? it is not a coat, it is not a cardigan? it is insprired after german folklore.. and it is just lovely! this is just 100% me.. #twigandtale #nähenmitwalk #barfussschuhe #barfußschuhenähen

A little glimpse into the making of the snowflake dress ❄️❄️❄️ It took me about 4 days to make it ☺️ I ran out of white embroidery floss and had to make a special trip into town to get a skein!! Luckily a local shop had that colour!! I always find the fun part of embroidery is when you dissolve the papery stuff to reveal how it really looks like on the fabric ! Well here this is the end to a beautifull year in the @twigandtale storyteller community.. My last project was the dollscarf.. i saw those scarfs on the tiny dolls, and i got just a tiny bit jealous.. so, i thought.. just size it up! The original asks for 1 DK so i used 2 strands.. I love the way the finishes and cast on are made.. it looks just beautifull form start to finish! It fits perfectly on my @twigandtale fable dress, which i embroidered with the wonderfull flowers by @myvisiblemend #twigandtale #ttstorytellers #sewyourstory #ttfabledress #knitting #myvisiblemend

It's remarkable how much different a dress can feel with a different sleeve. I've been fortunate to be part of the sew and show for Twig and Tale's new sleeve add-on - the Sprig add-on for the fable and plains dress patterns. The add-on gives additional 6 sleeve options to the original dresses. This is the flounce sleeve, it's incredibly swishy. The sleeve is finished with a gorgeous narrow hem and has this lovely loose floaty shape that gives a very feminine vibe. Like my previous version of the fable, I've made the plain front version (from the Twig and Tale blog) and finished the neckline using bias binding. This is the second fable I've made myself as part of series to refresh my office wardrobe (No.3 may already be in progress...). This floral viscose was a good fabric choice, especially for the sleeves and feels great to wear to my workplace. Pattern: Twig and Tale Fable dress, with flounce sleeve from the Sprig Sleeve add-on, Adjustments: mentioned above, plus my standard petite bodice adjustment. ✨ Fable Dress ✨ 🇬🇧 To say I love this dress is an understatement. I want to make 12 of them and wear nothing else until spring! This is the Fable Dress by Twig + Tale with a few twists. First I changed the sleeves for the pleated sleeves from the recent Sprig Add-On. They’re perfect, I love them! Second I made the buttons go all the way down the skirt instead of stopping at the waist as the pattern instructs. Third I made the skirt wider at the bottom for maximum swoosh. I wanted this kind of dress for a long time and I’m so very happy with it! The fabric is a fantastic linen-viscose blend that was very nice to work with. 🪡 #ttfabledress size L with #ttsprigsleeve by @twigandtale. Fabric from @tissusferrari.

Connection - My very last Storytellers project, as this year is coming to an end. It felt so bittersweet and special making this dress because this whole year has been filled with lots of sewing and inspiration while being a part of the Storytellers team. The connections we all made will never be forgotten. I decided to make a linen Fable with cuffed sleeves and also use up more of the denim scraps from the scrap exchange. I did the same snail appliqué (I am a bit obsessed) and I will think of this past year every time I wear this dress and all of the beautiful creations I’ve seen from everyone! Twig + Tales community is filled with so many wonderful sewists and it was special to be able to be a part of it this year. I didn’t get nearly as many projects done as I had wanted to, but I feel like it helped me to slow down and create more quality and special garments and try things I never would have tried before. Also spotted is my little photo-bomber wearing a pair of her new Scout Pants. She is loving the pockets 🤣 Alterations I made — 3/8in broad shoulder adjustment Raised the bust apex 1 inch Lengthened the bodice by 1 & 1/4 in #TTStorytellers #SewYourStory #TTFable #TTFableDress #TwigandTale The Sprig Add-on was gifted as part of the Storytellers Team Appliqué pattern is Sullivan Snail by Shiny Happy World

I'm off on holidays on Saturday and needed a dress for a family photoshoot I've planned. My babies are growing up and I want to get some nice photos of us.

My kids are in full blown make-believe mode these days, pretending to be their favourite book or TV show characters. I love that I can sew them costumes that are comfy enough to wear as clothes. My 5-year-old got into the Princess in Black series recently and asked me for a Goat Avenger costume. His little sister immediately requested a Princess in Black costume for herself. I used @twigandtale patterns to make them all. (Note that as a Storyteller I receive patterns in exchange for sharing my honest experience - I’ve made most of these patterns before as part of past projects, but the cape and suspender pants were new to me for this one). For the Goat Avenger, I used the Animal Cape with the giraffe/donkey ears and modified the ossicones to have a pointed end. My kid insisted on burlap for authenticity’s sake. The Harbour Top and Pixie Romper with bar straps completed the look. For the Princess in Black, I used the Traveller Cape and Fernway Culottes. For the top I mashed together the Fable Dress and Scenic Top. I took the Fable bodice and cut the front on the fold (similar to the blog for doing this with the adult version). I added a slit similar to the Scenic or Harbour Top at the back and a flounce and appliqué. I slashed and spread the sleeve to make it puffed. Instead of a full skirt, I used the bottom bit of the Scenic Top to extend it to top length. Friday happens to be “Dress Like Your Favourite Book Character” day at daycare and the kids are super excited to wear these. #TTStorytellers #SewYourStory #TTAnimalCape #TTTraveller Cape #TTFableDress #TTScenicTop #TTHarbourTop #TTPixieEssentials #TTPixieExpansion #TTPixieRomper #twigandtale #twigandtalepatterns #theprincessinblack #princessinblack #thegoatavenger #goatavenger @squeetus @uyenloseordraw

Doubling down on my denial that summer is over by sewing myself a new linen dress. This is the Fable Dress from @twigandtale , with the cuffed sleeve from the new Sprig Sleeve add-on. #MeMadeMay25 Round Up (2/2) My pledge was to track what I actually wear in my wardrobe and play 'love it or list it' with the rest. I noted myself wearing 17 outfits that contained at least one me made element over the last 6 weeks. My most worn outfit was worn 7 times, which was my spotty teal fable dress (@twigandtale #TTFableDress ). Additionally, I tried to track how much I wore items like my new fleece and dressing gown, I wore both at least 10 times. My takeaways/observations are: 📍There is a clear division between clothes I want to wear to work and wear at weekend. 📍I am quite limited with my work/office wear options (not helped by having 2 dresses stuck in my mending pile and 1 old faithful that fell recently apart) - heatwave options very limited! 📍Something I never really realised - I prefer longer hem lines with bare legs and shorter/knee length hems with tights 📍 Wearing a skirt and top good option for work but still struggling to style beyond a basic black t-shirt. More skirt and top options are something to consider looking at. 📍 I'm not reaching to put on my made underwear - these no longer feel comfortable/fit particularly well on my current body. 📍I don't actually own any plain black leggings (RTW/Made) that actually fit me and don't fall down or are not falling apart 📍 I've plenty of smarter/ going out dress options but I don't have many options that are more causal/ low effort dresses 📍I am frequently reaching for 1 of two cardigans (a black and a grey one), a little more variety may be required in this department. 📍I've only 1 top option currently and my t-shirt are all showing signs of love, so definitely somewhere to focus some attention. 📍 I was reminded that jeans are more of a practical wardrobe item, and I still don't enjoy wearing them. Overall, I think I had a successful MeMadeMay. I feel more informed about my preferences and needs which I can use to influence future making, and I have mixed feelings about the amount of stuff that's left my wardrobe (the majority that is not fit for reuse 🙁, mainly poor quality rtw), I can see and appreciate my made efforts more now. #MeMadeMay #MeMadeMay2025 #MMM25

! #atelierrubael #twigandtale #ttfabledress #fabledress #couturefemme

Can’t believe I haven’t posted what may be my biggest sewing project ever! I made these sweet flower girl dresses for my beautiful sister in law. They are lightly hacked #ttfabledress in a lovely broderie anglaise. The pattern was a delight, the fabric was a joy to work with, and the wedding was perfect 💕 Only got about one photo of me at the wedding (last pic) and l look Extremely Frazzled hahaha. But we did get a gorgeous portrait of my husband with our baby girl in all her finery which we’ve already printed and displayed at home 🥰 #flowergirldress #sewing #sewsewsew #sewingproject @twigandtale
