Origins is the @twigandtale Storyteller’s theme for June. It was a prompt for me to start and finish a project that involved a special connection with the materials involved. A while ago, a friend gave me a blanket that belonged to her grandparents to make a collared traveller cape for her daughter, and use the leftover material to make something for my daughter. She was looking for another blanket, but at the time it could not be located. Eventually, after that project was completed, the intended blanket was found, and moved into my sewing area, where it sat. Occasionally, it got pushed to a new location in the room, but it essentially sat. With the prompt of this theme, I made the intended traveller cape, and a new bunny Pathfinder for my little one. She was overdue a new Pathfinder, her brothers still fit their Pikachu and Yoda Pathfinders for a second year of wear. The lining was an upcycled sheet, that was sitting next to the blanket in my sewing area and was just the perfect shade of pink. Both items have personalised internal pockets, with their owner’s name embroidered on the pocket. I used the Woodland embroidery for this. I didn’t want to leave my friend out, and although she didn’t want anything made for her, I made a small hot water bottle cover based on the outline of the marine hottie covers. Coming full circle to my origins, the first Pathfinder I made, I photographed in one of the same spots. It’s lovely to see the growth in my own sewing since that moment. Probably the cutest thing i sewn in a long time.. and sewing this was really a joy from beginning to end.. and a nice way to get rid of some of those left overs in my scrap-pile.. this is the schollenrucksack by @vonlangehand and more gray one is called bob. He found a new home at oma and opa.. they live near the see, so he is happy. The other one is called Botje.. and he will remain in our chaos ridden household.. probably being stuffed with sportsclothes and swimming attire.. so i his life will probably a little shorter but very full-filled (pun intended) So here is to botje and bob! A flower vest for this little flower - nothing better to wear to the nursery for an early season garden trip! I fell in love with this fabric when I saw it and managed to snag half a meter on sale. Really enjoyed making my Twig and Tale Pathfinder vest. I added some embroidery to the pockets and used an old wooden skirt as the lining. Echt december! We trokken lootjes voor Sinterklaas en ik mocht iets maken voor @beeldendknutselaar 🥰 Het werd een #ttpathfindervest in lieve wijze grijze grootmoeder kleuren. Verder nog echte eindejaars dingen gemaakt in de keuken. Ik ben een grote fan van het kookboek 'taart Ende koeck', ik maakte ontbijtkoek, linzer koekjes en gehaktbrood (met geroosterde wintergroente). Het vegan gehaktbrood van kapucijners maak ik vaker, het is echt een aanrader!!

Gorgeous vintage floral for this cute little gilet. 🌸🌸🌸 This fabulous cotton print, probably from the 60’s or 70’s was very kindly given to me recently. It was originally a dress & I love the colours! 🩵💚🩵💚🩵💚 Gilets are perfect for little ones in changeable Spring weather, they add an extra layer of warmth without feeling too bulky. This one is lined in a turquoise brushed cotton (also repurposed) & I’ve added a thin layer of cotton wadding in between to give the waistcoat a slightly puffy look. The on trend ties allow a bit of size adjustment as well as looking pretty 🤩 This one is a completely unique piece in size 6-12m (although is roomy so will last longer than that with the ties) & available now in my Etsy store. I’ll gradually be adding more in other sizes & prints over the next couple of weeks but you can always message me for a custom make 😊

Some snapshots of the Foxie vests—aren’t they just adorable?! After making three (!!) of them, I’ve realized that sewing a pattern three times is the magic number. By the third round, you truly get to enjoy the process, know each step by heart, and add all the little details you want—without constantly unpicking seams 🙈. Each vest has its own personality, thanks to different labels and patches. But my absolute favorite detail is the removable tails! I attached them with snap buttons from @actionnederland , and honestly, those little snaps are game-changers—I use them on everything. Special shout-out to the beautiful flower label from @intenselydistracted. It’s such a unique and thoughtful touch! I was making these vests during snowdrop season, so incorporating that little detail felt extra special. The iron-on patches are from HEMA, and the other labels are from @intenselydistracted and @kylieandthemachine. Makes sense that my first post here should be the make that started it all. I learned to sew on my mother’s lap as a child, and I dabbled as a teen and young adult, but sewing this dragon costume for my son came at a time when I really needed that connection to my past and it ignited a new depth of excitement for sewing, creating and learning new techniques. This little dragon pathfinder has been on so many adventures over the last (almost) four years of wear between two kids and it still looks great! Handmade from a lightweight vintage wool blanket in lovely muted tones of sky blue, watermelon red and an off-white stripe. Because of the textured open weave of the wool I quilted a piece of white heavy duty cotton sheeting to the inside of the back wool panel. This gives more substance and body, slightly more warmth across the wearers back and the nice quilted look to the Vest is a bonus. Finished with flutter sleeves, a classic Hood and two side seam pockets for hands and stashing stuff. Its my usual elongated style with a curved drop back. Closure at the front is with two beautiful carved blossom wood buttons. I have added one of my signature embellishment buttons ... its the perfect match in a lovely blue and gold and its new old stock vintage. So perfect ! The lining fabric is stunning ... the sweetest cottage style floral print of incredible quality. I sourced it from a recent trip to The Nest Community Opshop, Brisbane. #memademay2024 Todays ensemble consists of shop bought clothes and a @twigandtale #pathfindervest I made a few years back. The outer is a soft corduroy with some piping made out of some #liberty scraps and the lining is a satin twill. I love the #pixiehood but working with that faux fur was a bit messy! I’ve added in a pic at the end of a Pathfinder Vest I made for my baby grandson. This time I recycled some wool fabric and lined it with cotton. I have been umming and ahhing about Arthur trousers a lot. Finally decided that if they were on my mind that much then I needed some (I need summer trousers anyway). I'm still in a sewing run, but my mum was lovely and has made these ones for me and will be making me a second pair. (Thank you!) It's further on my journey to stop caring about 'flattering" and what others may think and wear what makes me happy. This colour is cosy and happy. It's bright and earthy all at the same time. It’s been a bit of a ride into the first half of this year. I’ve been having some health things going on, so have been laying low work wise while I try to get things sorted and ride out the fatigue that comes with it. I’m hoping things are getting back on track now and that my energy levels will be increasing again. I’m feeling hopeful so I would like to open my orders again this week on Wednesday evening at 7.00pm. Don’t forget to set a reminder so you don’t miss out. Our latest @twigandtale #pathfindervest #dragon in an upcycle linen duvet cover with cotton lining. We were inspired by #ninjago to create a #Riyu look. We used the dragon spikes and layered them on the centre piece of the hood. We used the cape wings because we wanted a bigger wing look. The little dragon is pretty happy with it all although he wants the ears to be made into horns (a hack for another day).

This poor dear size 1 Vest had a wee mishap right at the very last step of making last night ... it ended up with two spots of fabric glue/fray stop on it and it won't come off. I have basically ruined it. I am sharing a couple of photos as its so sweet and you can't see the damage here. My customer who ordered it lives in my street and it's for her new great niece. Its bound for a new life in England so that's exciting. I am making her a second Vest to replace this one but it will be the next size up in similar yet different fabrics. Finished and really happy with the final result and this was surprisingly quick to sew up. This is for a little girl who’s not keen on wearing long winter clothes. The toggles are lower so it’s not constricting/too tight for her and I’ve gone a size bigger to give her a relaxed fit plus another winter.
