Not particularly happy with the result, but the pattern is well thought out and does make for a comfortable and interesting shirt. I did manage to sneak in some #embroidery of course. I had the honor of being part of the @twigandtale Sew and Show team for the Ridgeway Shirt! I made my husband one using a lovely speckled linen-cotton blend from @fiveeighth. The lining is a fun tool print quilting cotton scrap I had in my stash. This shirt may work its way into my husband’s special occasion wardrobe, but it was made with the Renaissance fair in mind. See that slight gathering on just one sleeve? I think I haven't shared this yet - I finished sewing a while ago but it had its first outing last night. The pattern is @twigandtale's Ridgeway top - not the most straightforward assembly but their video tutorial is very helpful, and it does result in a beautiful finish. Twig and Tale has recently released the Ridgeway Top pattern and I was lucky enough to receive a complimentary pattern as part of the sew and show team. I upcycled a couple of the boys old shirts and a 5 XL I picked up at the op shop. I love the crossover design and the enclosed internal seams. I recently had the pleasure of joining the @twigandtale Sew + Show team for their latest pattern, the Ridgeway top. In exchange for sewing up the top and sharing it with you all I was gifted the pattern for free. For this project I chose to sew up the #TTRidgewayTop in two different linens. My hubby sometimes feels I don't sew as much for him as I do for the kids, so when I saw the Ridgeway shirt the opportunity to create a Dad and son outfit crossed my mind (and heart). @twigandtale gave me the opportunity to be part of the Sew + Show team making and providing feedback on the Ridgeway Top pattern, in exchange I received a complimentary copy of it. The pattern pieces fit perfectly, they are simple but the construction involves more concentration than other patterns do for me, I had to follow the tutorial and loved the video, it took me a bit more than other patterns, but the results are just stunning. One of the many reasons why I love sewing is to make unique/fun clothes. I was so excited to be part of the Sew + Show team for the #TTRidgewayTop for @twigandtale!🤩 I received a complimentary copy of the pattern for sharing my feedback. The Ridgeway pattern is using a fascinating technique, where the crossover neckline has enclosed seams 😲. The rest of the shirt is using French seam making the shirt nearly reversible ❤️. For my partner, I sewed it with linen from #TheFabricStore that was in my stash for way too long, with a lining from #thetelarie that perfectly matched. Pretty guts and feeling like a genius (do not correct me if you disagree 😂) The #ttridgewaytop has enclosed facings and French seams. Ugh So Perfect. I did the hem split tabs a bit differently than the instructions. I tacked them down then topstitched them on. Perfect placement, less anxiety and feeling like a genius.

My father passed away 2 1/2 yrs ago and this was a perfect project to use up some fabric from his old cotton shirts. I have recently joined Twig & Tale’s Sew + Show team to sew their new shirt, the Ridgeway Top. It is actually a men’s and boys’ shirt pattern but there were design elements that I really liked, so I applied, saying that I wanted to sew the top for myself, and was happy to get on the team. The design elements that attracted me were the collar, the front wrap, the ease and the little side split. It was a little tricky to sew the Ridgeway since all seams are nicely hidden on the inside through thorough facings and French seams. But don’t let this scare you away from making the Ridgeway! The instructions are SOOOO good, both written and a film version, that I do believe anyone can manage. @twigandtale’s instruction movies are like video classes and they really are absolutely fantastic! If you haven’t tried them yet, you should! I made my #ttridgewaytop in a thrifted cotton that was perfect for this pattern. It was a fun sew and a lovely result, but I must be honest and admit that the shirt will fit a man’s body better. I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of the new Ridgeway top by @twigandtale ❤️ as part of the Sew + Show team. I made both the adult and child versions to make the cutest matching tops! The #TTRidgewaytop has some great techniques that leave an amazing finished garment.

I don't often have a lightning-bolt idea, but I did when @twigandtale sent out a Sew & Show call for a new cross-front shirt called Ridgeway. That's also the name of the line of hills near to me in Oxfordshire, where the Uffington Chalk Horse is. (The one Terry Pratchett used in his Tiffany books!) And I've seen some beautiful layered-effect clothing in the past, so the idea for this shirt made to look like rolling hills dropped fully-formed into my head. I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of the pattern to try out my idea. I think I pulled it off successfully! I'm a projector sewist these days but I returned to the paper-sticking so that I could then cut the body pieces up into hill lines and add seam allowance. I used flat-felling on the joining seams, and did the fell stitching by hand in contrasting thread. (Obviously then I had to hem by hand too to match...) I didn't embroider the horse until the whole front was assembled, so that I could sit with a projected photo trying different locations and sizing. And I did a photoshoot with my daughter up on the Ridgeway! Unfortunately one of the features of the chalk horses is that it's so big you can't really capture it in a nearby photograph from ground level, but I did my best. It has so many satisfying little details like the crossover part at the neck which makes it an elevated casual top. It has great potential for colour blocking and made up in a linen - it will look effortlessly cool. There are many wonderful versions popping up from other members of the Sew + Show team. Super pleased with how this set has come out. Needless to say it is a gift for a friend who is expecting their first child. The patterns are both by @twigandtale. ##ttridgewaytop is so thoughtfully designed with a crossover neckline and beautiful clean interior. Whilst the construction was a little complex, it wasn’t difficult due to the great instructions and a video. #tttreeclimbers shorts were super quick and simple in comparison! I am a little bit late to the #ttridgewaytop party because I have been over here helping my dear husband recover from hernia surgery. This really unique shirt, the newest pattern from @twigandtale (which is still on sale for a couple more days) is a chance for sewists to flex a few muscles and maybe develop some new skills during the making process. I received this pattern for free in return for sharing some insights into the making process and some photos of what I made. Jack has four Breeze shirts, so when I saw this new style shirt from Twig and Tale I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me to add a little variety to his wardrobe with something new. The Sew and Show took place during April, which was when we Storytellers were thinking about color. I started this make with some "safety orange" linen, which I overdyed with a barn red dye to create this color that I love. I then added a pocket from the #ttkeapocket pack so that he has a spot to carry his fountain pen, and any other woodsy treasures he finds. Finally I embellished the front with the bee embroidery from the Twig and Tale Sweet as Can Bee embroidery pattern collection. This pattern has some techniques that take time to master. I encourage you to really slow down and read each step carefully. Even better, watch the video tutorial the whole way through before you start. The video tutorial is amazing and so helpful for the techniques that you will follow to make a shirt that is as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. The finish is really stunning and super unique. I like the new side slit method, which differs from the Breeze shirt and includes anchors for seam support. I will definitely be utilizing those pattern pieces in any new Breeze shirts I make. Go look at all the other beautiful testers and sew and show makes! There are so many different colors and ways to make this pattern truly your own! The lovely folks at @twigandtale gifted me the new Ridgeway pattern for my honest review and some publicity. Honestly I'm pretty excited to be part of this Sew+Show team despite my relative lack of social media presence! Made this in a straight size 3 for my tall-but-slim 2-year-old - there are clear instructions for blending sizes but I didn't have the time. It's a very involved pattern, with quite a number of new techniques - my seam ripper and I were frenemies pretty much throughout the whole process. I'm usually a quick and haphazard sewer but there are no shortcuts to be made here, and I quite enjoyed running my fingers over the neat finishes this time around. The hardest bit was getting the overlapping front panels to align at the collar, but totally worth not having to fiddle with buttonholes, whether in making or wearing. Took most of the photos during an Easter egg hunt, but then went to a craft session at a local museum after. Since the shoot, she's worn it to beaches and forests as we ease our way into a Scottish spring - no pictures because it's under a coat. Made this in a cotton poplin, from a destash. Love the hint of a mandarin collar and looking forward to some CNY makes, for the older sister as well. #ttridgewaytop

Launch week for the new Ridgeway Top from Twig and Tale. No buttons or fastenings. It has an overlapped crossover area at the top of the chest. Slips over but looks nicer, almost like a collared button up shirt. Vents at the sides make it even suitable for an active moving child! It is harder to find nice patterns for boys so I jumped on it when I saw the chance. The other Sew + Show members made theirs in classy linen or colour-blocked, super fun variations! The enclosed facings were a little tricky for me but the video helped. I was immensely satisfied when I was able to do the facings - everything lined up, just so, it came together like magic.
