I’m honored to be back for the Twig and Tale Storytellers team in 2025! My first #ttstorytellers project is this Twig and Tale Leaf Satchel made in a @robertkaufman #essexlinen and lined with a @rubystarsociety print. I used a variegated @aurifilthread for the quilting on the leaf. The label is by @sarahhearts. All of my materials are from @fiveeighth. 🪡 Sewing review 2024 Part 1 🧵 One of my big goals for 2024 was to get my sewjo back and find time for making. So it took a while as I’ve not had much time to sew for myself recently, but I have finally finished my Twig and Tale leaf stachel! I really enjoyed being able to personalise it with hand embroidery. I used both European and North American leaves on the side panels, representing my husband (who is Canadian) and I. I'm looking forward to using it tomorrow! Here is what I made for the #ttsatchelsewalong SAL! When the SAL was announced I knew I needed to make the small portrait satchel for my niece, Majolie. In fact, the moment that I first saw the line drawings of the upcoming pattern on IG I instantly thought of Maj, who takes a notebook and a pen or pencil with her everywhere she goes. She never even goes to the creek without writing implements and a notepad. The small leaf satchel immediately caught my eye as the perfect bag for her things. After making Jack’s satchel last month I knew that I liked a heavier fabric for the exterior of the bag. When I first started collecting fabric for my quilting stash from @scrappyelephant they had a lot less fabric than they now do, and most of the brighter colors were small pieces. I collected quite a bit of different fabrics in small pieces at that time, just delighted to be able to branch out from the rather toned down sheets and pillowcases that had been my usual fare at the thrift store. Now, a couple years later, I gravitate towards buying larger pieces, and a lot of the small bits are languishing in neglect. The small size satchel is actually a great way to use up some of these smaller bits. I chose this pretty, upholstery weight fabric for the exterior. I love mustard yellow for accessories and am super into vintage looking prints. I cut the side piece of the bag from some heavy weight linen which exactly matched the outlines of the branches in the yellow fabric as I didn’t have quite enough of the exterior fabric for the whole bag. The lining of the bag is a light weight green fabric with some fun metallic print. I also did the elastic security band and like it a lot more than the darted band. I used the lining fabric for the band as the exterior was a bit too heavy to do well with elastic. I love how it came out! The T+T Adventure Patch embroidery collection is here. Oh what a fun project! I immediately thought of adding these patches to a leaf satchel for my little to fill with her nature journal and tools to have fun exploring the bush. I plan to embroider more patches to add to the bag as she achieves new milestones with her bush skills. Usually by this time of the year my sewing is slowing down but I’ve just been enjoying it so much. It helps to have so many lovely patterns available to make like this brand new satchel from @twigandtale . I repurposed some denim and had just the right amount of cotton for the lining in my favorite colors (sea foam green and orange). It’s such a great retro vibe. I absolutely LOVE the leaf flap so this is going to be my new satchel for nature journaling and foraging. I have been loving my @twigandtale Leaf Satchel! I made a small portrait size out of this beautiful wool that I thrifted right before I got my sewing machine. It has been patiently sitting in a drawer waiting to be used. No pictures yet, but I used two of my grandfathers button up shirts for the lining. They both have passed away so it’s a sweet reminder of them every time I open up my satchel. I also added a repurposed swivel hook to the lining so I could hook my keys and wallet to it and not have to fish through my satchel to find them. I’m planning on getting sew on magnetic snaps as well to add to the leaf flap/front of the satchel. I cannot wait to make more of these! Next up might be an ochre yellow one! Me Made May Day 5. Today I’m wearing my #RemyRaglan and #PeppermintPocketSkirt and my #TTleafsatchel (gifted) Both are made in 100% cotton (skirt is cotton flannel) This is the second pocket skirt I’ve ever made and somehow I managed to mess up the pockets on all of them except my third one 🤣 I matched up the wrong notches so the pockets are lower than they’re supposed to be. I added buttons to the pockets to keep them closed. Also wearing my favorite cardigan from target that I got 5 years ago. It had a few holes from wearing it so much so I mended them and plan to continue mending any more that show up. If anyone knows how to fix sleeve cuffs on sweaters, I would love advice! Over the past few months I have been collecting and dyeing small swatches of scrap fabric with wild dyes collected from my local environment. I’ve had to keep the project somewhat under wraps as I have excitedly awaited the release of the stunning new satchel pattern from @twigandtale. This project has been a labour of love, my first bag and first project sewn entirely from wild dyed fabrics and additionally one of two sewn for my children as Easter gifts used for our Easter egg hunt. The project was an absolute joy and I was shocked at how easy it came together, having expected much more difficulty from my first attempt as sewing a bag! A comment less on my ability as a sewist I think, than the incredible work that has gone into this beautiful pattern. here is my happy leather leaf satchel.. i am so in love with this new pattern! the #ttleafsatchel by @twigandtale fabric: shoe quality leather (rather thick) lining: thrifted cotton twill size: child portrait with adult strap (size is perfect, fits a book, mobilephone and even my thing with the money in it)(sometimes the words are now where to be found😅) alterations: cause the leather is so thick, i knew lining the flap was not going to result in much nerves and a joyfull leafy look. So i sewed the inside lining on to the rest, leaving the whole flap area unsewed. turned it, clipped the seam allowence at the point i stopped sewing. Then i glued the lining (flap lining out of non fray felted stuff)(topstiching the leaf details, i did previous, cause this thick leather would not have been so much fun..) then i topstiched around the edge of the leaf, then cut back the seamallowence.. and now i am super happy! #twigandtale #sewingbags #taschennähen #taschennähenmachtsüchtig #nähenstattkaufen #nähenmitleder

It's been a while! 💚 The year has zoomed by and I feel I have barely scratched the surface of what @twigandtale has to offer 😢 As a T+T Storyteller this year, The Pixie coat was definitely on my list and I had this tactile, forest green babycord earmarked for it. Perfect for October's theme ✨️Textures ✨️ Whilst I do enjoy the sun and occasional warmer temperatures here I don't think I have a favourite season because each one brings something different and we're lucky to mostly experience all four in the UK. The seasonal rotation is a chance to say hi again to previous makes and add new ones to the collection. A wonderful time! I sized up on the coat so I can wear more of my handknits underneath and of course I had to add a pop of colour with a fun lining. This is becoming a bit of a signature move, I love to add something unexpected ☺️ the Kea scallop pockets and my leaf satchel paired so well with this! A trouble-free relaxing sew, the minute I flipped it inside out I could not believe I'd made a proper coat! I used a strip of the selvedge for the hanging loop and handstitched the lining in place. The buttons were found in my local charity shop, salvaged from a camel wool coat. Gifted | ✨️ Renew ✨️ Feeling a gentle return of the sewjo and wanted to share my first project as part of #TTstorytellers this year! I'm really not sure how best to describe the process I've been moving through in the past year, I imagine many people have/are experiencing similar shifts in their lives. Taking stock of what still works, what matters most, what brings us joy, what is meaningful. For me, I always dive into the making process because it's relaxing and methodical. Meditative even? It helps alot. Making this #leafsatchel @twigandtale was a lovely first project, i used some black babycord fabric and 1m of #amybutler cotton and i think it works really well together 😊💫 i am wanting to add more solid colours to my memades and wardrobe in general so this was a good start! The pattern comes in two sizes for adult/child, I made the child size for my phone and essentials. If you are a visual learner like me, there was also a helpful video to guide you through the steps. I've made the strap different to the pattern as I wanted it to be adjustable on both sides. Been feeling a bit of the creative doldrums lately...I can't quite decide what project to pursue next. Ever had that happen to you? mein jungster Tochter ist wirklich ein Unikat. Sie ist schon länger damit beschäftigt schnittmuster zu entwerfen (sie ist 4) neulich sah ich bei ihre entwürfen auch hühner kleidung. Das hatte mich warnen mussen. Aber nein. Ich schaute aus dem fenster, und da lief unser Huhn Blumie durch den Garten. Verkleidet als Pfau. Ein langer lila cape war geschmacksvoll um ihr herum drapiert. ein schöner Haarreif (der wie gemacht zu sein schein für Hühnerkörper) rundete den Look ab. Ich schnell runter um das Huhn zu befreien, aber es war eigentlich recht zufrieden. Ich denke es hat sich sehr als Pfau gefallen.. ❤️ Hier sieht ihr mein #getthelook von @firlefanz_schnittmuster Ich bin ein minimalist. (vielleicht nicht was stoffen angeht)(ahem)(sonst aber)(naja.. nix was mit nähen zu tun hat) aber klamotten habe ich tatsächlich nicht im überfluss. so habe ich 6 basic langarm shirts. 4 davon sind #firlefanzlavendula das top ist wirklich ganz mein ding. Es ist weiblich aber nicht freizügig. es ist genau richtig lang. Ich bin fan von alle Kreationen von Kristina. Aber Lavendula hat ein ganz besondere Platz in mein Herz und Kleiderschrank. Dazu schwingt den coole #firlefanzrapunzel Ich habe ihm hier höher genäht und etwas verlängert.. Barret von @lolas.design (ebenfalls ein lieblingsstuck) Shawl ist das #sophiescarf von @petiteknit ebenfalls sehr viel getragen. It is Leaf Satchel Time 🍃 even here in Switzerland! After I noticed the call for the Satchel Sew & Show Team I instantly knew this could be the perfect opportunity to get our girl a new bag for her many forest adventures. That’s why I decided to use Oilskin and Dry Oilskin for the outside (because it’s water repellent) and a light cute cotton fabric for the inside. The small landscape version is perfect for our almost 6yo. Due to lack of enough outer fabric in main color I improvised and used a leftover hemp fiber strap and some brass hardware. I handstitched the leave veins with a simple chain stitch. Overall I really love everything about those items I was able to make during that time. Perfect for spring and summer. You can also see her wearing an upcycled barefoot dress out of my husband’s shirt (more about that one soon) and a headband (inspired by the T&T Gifting Set and adjusted to her size) embroidered with those cute berries from the T&T Woodland Alphabet. There's so many ways to prevent textile waste...and make it look amazing! @dustlandcreek saved up waste leather scraps, piecing them together to create pieces large enough for this landscape Foraging Satchel. Then, with a spark of creativity, she projected the Kawakawa Mini Leaf onto the leather, resizing to fit the space, and used her pyrography tool to print it into the leather. So cool! What unexpected ways have you embellished your sewing projects before?

Pour cette version, j'ai personnalisé la forme de la feuille et j'ai ajouté des poches zippées à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur du sac. Gifted | ✨️ Renew ✨️ Feeling a gentle return of the sewjo and wanted to share my first project as part of #TTstorytellers this year! I'm really not sure how best to describe the process I've been moving through in the past year, I imagine many people have/are experiencing similar shifts in their lives. Taking stock of what still works, what matters most, what brings us joy, what is meaningful. For me, I always dive into the making process because it's relaxing and methodical. Meditative even? It helps alot. Making this #leafsatchel @twigandtale was a lovely first project, i used some black babycord fabric and 1m of #amybutler cotton and i think it works really well together 😊💫 i am wanting to add more solid colours to my memades and wardrobe in general so this was a good start! The pattern comes in two sizes for adult/child, I made the child size for my phone and essentials. If you are a visual learner like me, there was also a helpful video to guide you through the steps. I've made the strap different to the pattern as I wanted it to be adjustable on both sides. Wearing and using secondhand or mended items is not uncommon where I live, but thrifting has only recently started to emerge in smaller Spanish cities. Most charity shops still offer lesser quality fast fashion pieces that didn't get much wear, and it's hard to find something good. Friends tend to hang onto their gems to sell on apps and others save them for the future. When I was pregnant, I received many beautifully preserved baby items. In fact, just the other day my suegra brought over a hand painted wooden chair that my husband had as a baby. It was a gift from her mother, and now her great grandchildren get to use it. May's theme in the Twig + Tale Storytellers' community is Renew. Last year, I bought two pairs of linen pants from the thrift store for 2€, but after turning the orange ones into an itchy romper for my daughter I left the grey ones to sit. I finally cut into them and made the T+T #leafsatchel using leftover pink floral fabric from a Petal Dress as the lining. I used the small portrait size with the standard strap width and tie option, and it's perfect to carry around. Sewing was pretty seamless but the side panels ended up upside down and the satchel could use interfacing, but I'm happy with this first attempt. Quilting was surprisingly simple and I'm proud of my little leaf. I cannot believe we are two weeks out from Hamilton Farmers Market Co-op - Hamilton, Montana!!! We will be in our regular spot on 3rd st museum side.
