Na al die grote truien was het wel weer even tijd voor een mini naaiwerkje. Van dit leuke gestreepte lapje wat ik ooit in een donatiedoos kreeg, kon ik precies een mini High Hopes Dolman maken in maat 74. De boorden maakte ik van hele zachte donkerblauwe ribtricot, die prachtig past bij de tekst op het shirt. En van dezelfde ribtricot maakte ik er ook een matching broekje bij, als patroon gebruikte ik hiervoor de pyjamabroek van de Grow With Me Pajama (met iets minder hoge boorden, zodat ze precies uit een restlapje pasten). From this nice striped piece that I once received in a donation box, I could make exactly a mini High Hopes Dolman in size 74. I made the borders from a very soft dark blue rib jersey, which matches the text on the shirt beautifully. And from the same rib jersey I also made a matching pair of pants, for which I used the pajama pants from Grow With Me Pajamas as a pattern (with slightly lower cuffs, so that they fit exactly from a leftover piece). English translation in comments ======= Nog een High Hopes Dolman, maar dit keer in een grotere maat. Die kon ik mooi uit een lap halen waar langs de zelfkant 2 halve cirkelrokken geknipt waren. En ja, het motief staat achterop dus op de kop, maar dat valt in mijn ogen niet erg op… Ik koos dit keer voor de variant met col. Ik koos ervoor om iets uit te proberen wat ik bij @made.for.nora op Instagram tegenkwam: een boord met een splitje. Het splitje plaatste ik op ongeveer ⅓ van de breedte van het voorpand. Een strik leek me wel een leuke aanvulling daarop, daarvoor gebruikte ik de bovenste (kleinste) strik van de Be Posh Bow. Ik maakte eerst 3 plooitjes boven het split in het shirt, die naaide ik vast. Daarbovenop zette ik de lusreep dubbel vast. Ik vouwde deze een stukje naar beneden, over het ‘rafelrandje’ en zette deze aan beide kanten met de hand vast. Tot slot haalde ik het strik-deel door de lus, en zette deze ook aan beide kanten even vast, zodat hij er niet uit kan schuiven. Ik neig naar een paarse flared broek erbij, maar dat komt te zijner tijd wel! Hij belandt voor nu nog even in mijn voorraad voor The Foundation for Kids. I've realised with a few knit projects from this pattern designer, I don't need to go as big as the chart tells me, for my largest measurement. I need to get more confident to grade patterns for myself. The DBP waistband needs to be narrower, due to the fabric's stretch &/or recovery (still have so much to learn about fabric properties!). This is the @ellieandmac_patterns High Hopes Dolman top. I have made it before but saw one of their vlog posts where they have made the "bat wing" smaller to make a more fitted top so I thought I would try it. The fabric is a sweater knit from Fabricland and it is incredibly soft. I made this in a size Medium with the following changes- - I made the bat wing more narrow so it is more of a fitted top - I shortened the bodice as it was coming out very baggy but then I think that I made it too short! Lol - I made the neckband thicker as I wanted a smaller neck and had already cut the bodice! Overall I am pleased with this and it came together quickly. Loved it so much - I made another High Hopes Dolman. I realised after cutting the front from a remnant I didn’t have enough for the back. I decided to mix and match with other remnants. I didn’t have one piece for the back so added a seam and mixed and matched the bands to use the colours. Made a couple of mistakes with this as not concentrating but still happy with it. Me Made May post #2! This is the #ellieandmachighhopesdolman made of #thestyledmagnolia athletic brushed poly alcohol ink fabric. I love the alcohol inks and an outsized percentage of my fabric is them because they are only available at limited times. I love the colors of this one, but now that I have dipped my toes into seasonal color analysis I'm wondering if it would look even better on me if it were a bit more muted and less bright. I'm not sure. This pattern is super easy and definitely a beginner pattern. I don't wear it as much as I thought I would unfortunately. Part of it is that the fabric had a lot of body and so doesn't drape as well as I want it to. It's less obvious in photos, but while wearing it it kind of feels like the top traps air under it like a parachute. I bought another alcohol ink from the same shop on a different fabric that is much drapier. My thought was I would make an identical top but drapier and see if I like it better. I also wonder if there's a better length. I'm starting to think because I wear skirts at my waist that I need cropped sweaters to wear with them. The neckline also gathers because either the neckband is too short or the neckband is too short given how much recovery this fabric has. It's not my favorite, but it's livable. Also I love in the photo that my sewing machine is peeking through in the background 😀

Used the rest of my @neridahansenfabrics big cats French Terry to make some comfy working from home pants. Pattern is a fantastic free pattern from @peppermintmagazine. Pattern is for woven but worked great in the knit.
