I can’t wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear this jumpsuit again, it’s like a secret loungewear 🤫 - ridiculously comfy 💖. I’ll let you into another secret - I haven’t ever purchased RTW jumpsuits as I have found it incredibly difficult to find one that fits me well as I have a short waist and long legs. I'm trying to diversify my sewing so made this outfit this weekend. This is the #southshoreromper by @ellieandmac_patterns The front is a bit too low for my style so made the #hugsandkissescami by @patternemporium_kate to wear with it. I also made matching knickers, of course! On the fit, I am 5'5" and the pattern says it is drafted for 5'4" using 4 way stretch fabric. I used this cotton lycra but had to remove 1.5" off the rise and 2.5" from the leg length. Quite a big change. Being totally honest I'm having a really shitty time with how I feel about myself, and feeling awful about my body. But today it felt really good to get out of the house, get into the sunshine and wear something that I've made myself! 🥂 Happy New Year everyone! My last make of 2024 was a total impulse after I watched the most recent vlog from @julie_sews_her_own_clothes Julie was wearing the most beautiful green stretch velvet jumpsuit and I loved it so much! I immediately bought the #southshoreromper from @ellieandmac_patterns (It’s on sale right now!) and grabbed this crushed navy blue velvet that I recently purchased from @joann_stores in their clearance section. It was such a good deal and they have a few bolts, so I might go back for more! 😉 One thing to note is to pay attention to the stretch of your fabric. This velvet probably has about 30% stretch and hugs me tight which is fine, but I might add some width to the side seams of the bodice and the bicep if I use this type fabric again. A 50% 4-way stretch is recommended and I will probably make this size in a double brushed poly which should work great. #memademay2025 day 21 in an old make. This one was made the 1st time I met (photo included) @running_sew_n_sew and @payneloriann . It was such an awesome day 😀. I combined 2 of my favorite patterns at the time, the skirt of @simplicitymccallsuk #S9125 and @ellieandmac_patterns #southshoreromper bodice to make this dress. It fits a little differently today.

ELLIE AND MAC SOUTH SHORE ROMPER So the first thing with this is how the hell have I had this pattern since 2022 and never made one! I now understand all the people that make them and love them! One of my favourite types of make are those that are 95% on my overlocker because they are generally a lot quicker. From start to finish this took 2.5 hours to make, the instructions are really clear, the sizing is pretty good and the result was brilliant. It says 4m on the pattern but I only used 3m with the shorter sleeve option. This fabric was the first piece of scuba I ever bought at a bargain £2.75/m from @poundfabrics and wanted to save it for the exact right project. But it never seemed to arise. I was nervous about using it here without a toile but I have done my measuring and was fairly confident. I’m so glad I did. The most complicated part is the facing but if you’ve done any stretch it’s no different to how to do a cuff or neckband. Sewing Level Required: stretch beginner who has done facings Size made: XXL Clarity of instructions: 10/10 Accuracy of sizing: 10/10 Time to fabric fit: 15 minutes Time to sew: 2.5 hours Cost: £8.25 Fabric: 3m of scuba Source: #poundfabrics Success: 10/10 Would I make it again? I keep forgetting to post these! These are 2 versions of the @ellieandmac_patterns #southshoreromper My daughter loved the first one I made for her a couple of years ago and when she grew out of it she asked for the same fabric again- That is the leopard on picture 2! I wanted her to have a more dressy version so asked her to pick her own fancy fabric in @fabriclanduk and she picked an absolute cracker! It's so fun!!! Both made in Age 12- it comes up big in the hips and is very wide legged but is fine everywhere else. Wish I had made both a little longer as worried she is already going to grow out of the legs lengthwise! Both used a lycra with good recovery. She loves them, I love them! Today’s featured sewists are Nikki (@thesewingprincipal) and Kikki (@2craftytwinchicks) from McKinney, Texas (USA). We grew up watching our mom sew for family and friends, and our dad reupholster furniture. Our dad first taught us how to create quilt blocks from old scraps. That was his way of keeping us busy during school breaks. It wasn’t until ten years ago that we started developing a love for sewing our own clothes. We love fabric shopping and going to Joanns, where we sit at a table, go through patterns, all while discussing fabric and notions. Our time at Joanns takes us back to pattern and fabric shopping with our mom at the old Krauss Department Store on Canal Street in New Orleans. Although we are twins, we are individuals when it comes to sewing. Kikki loves to hack and add embellishments to her garments, to create a unique look; and Nikki likes to maximize her time by sewing clothes that can transition from workwear to an evening of cocktails with friends. We have been following the @SewOver50 page for awhile. We are inspired by how Sewover50 showcases the differences we share as sewists and at the same time promoting that age is just a number. This is one of the reasons that Kikki and Nikki, along with 2 like-minded sewists founded @SewrorityWear. We wanted to create an inclusive community where sewists of all ages, races, etc. could come together, through a shared bond of sewing. Sewrority Wear not only sells paraphernalia, but we also host retreats, online sewing, and various events and activities. We (Kikki and Nikki) have also been featured in @SewnMagazine and plan to offer sewing and crafting classes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this fall. We are also launching a blog that showcases all things sewing and crafting by the end of the month...so, stay tuned. I had to add 3” to mine which I thought was too much but it turned out perfectly! I'm jumping on the #makenine2021 wagon! Here's my print out so I can solidify my plans with some swatches and whatnots. After my jumpsuit success last week I had a go at the E&M Southshore Romper this week. As I hadn’t made it before and am a bit in between busy sizes at the moment, I made this as a toile with fabric I had in my stash for ages and had no idea what I would use it for. My toile was a success, though only 2 way stretch I can still get in and out of it absolutely fine in the smaller bust size. Even though I made this as a toile it’s very wearable and perfect for this heatwave. I had to add 3” to mine which I thought was too much but it turned out perfectly!
