Contestant #2 in the pants sewing project is the Swim Style patterns high waisted pants. It's really comfortable and I like the linen I used. I feel like it looks better in real life than in the picture. But again, they turned out much larger than anticipated. I chose a size based on my measurements, but as there are no finished garment measurements given in the pattern, apart from the length, I had no idea what to expect. I had to take in the waist by a good 6cm and it still feels loose. I'm not sure, if these will make it to the office... The trusty True Bias Zoey tank with the Swimstyle high waist shorts pattern has me feelin fancy. My measurements had me square in the size large, but I've had to do a lot of taking in to have them fit well. Für den Urlaub musste auch noch ein neuer Bikini her. Da ich auf die Schnelle keinen passenden gefunden habe, stand mein Entschluss mir einen zu Nähen dann relativ schnell fest. Also ging es erst einmal auf die Suche nach einem passenden Schnittmuster. Die Hose sollte ein wenig höher geschnitten sein um meinen Bauch ein wenig zu kaschieren , ich bin ja keine 20 mehr 😄. Fündig wurde ich dann bei @swimstylepatterns mit dem #highwaistcollectivebikini Das Ergebnis gefällt mir richtig gut! Wobei ich mir tatsächlich überlege die Hose noch ein wenig zu kürzen, 🤣o-Ton mein Mann:„sieht ein wenig altbacken aus“😂 und ich finde der Bauch ist nicht wirklich kaschiert 🤔 und hochgeschnittene Bikinis sind wohl eher was für jüngere mit schlanker Taille! Was meint ihr? Auch wenn ich inzwischen keine so schlanke Taille mehr habe wie früher, fühle ich mich mit kürzeren Bikini Hosen wohler🤓. New sewing level unlocked with this vest and trousers set. This is definitely the most “tailored” outfit I’ve ever made and I’m pleased as punch at how it turned out! The vest is @vikisews Liliana. Even though it only requires a few scraps of fabric, there are 16 pattern pieces, most of which need to be fully interfaced and layered with stitch-reinforced stay tape. Despite this pre-work, it comes together fairly easily, although I think the instructions for welt pockets could have been improved. (How big is the welt box?) I didn’t have it in me to toile, so I just baste-fitted. In the end, I needed to reduce the slope of the shoulders by 1”— an easy alteration — but the rest of it fit great as designed. The trousers were the trusty @swimstylepatterns High-Waisted Pants. Because of all the heavy fabric at trousers leg, I had to narrow the hips a lot compared to the shorts version so they would stay up. Can we talk about the fabric! This is the most amazing slubby herringbone linen from @tessutifabrics . It looks like a heavy wool but it’s actually a breathable, tropical-weight linen that is so luxurious and worth every penny. I lined it in a cherry red rayon (also from Tessuti) as a little surprise treat for myself. There you have it! My first tailored suit, first welt pockets, first use of D-rings (at the back of the vest).
