Under the (aggressively and unseasonably hot) Sarawak sun 🔥 First top and second skirt are collectively the #ssandiset, which I made a couple months back but keep forgetting to take photos of! This was a relaxing and straightforward pattern, my biggest hurdles were all my own - cutting out the wrong facings for the top and having to pattern match the back bottom panel of the skirt as I'd bought slightly insufficient fabric. I particularly liked how the skirt's waistband and side seams were quite different from the more basic finishes I'm used to. And how stunning is this William Morrow-esque cotton! I didn't realise it's based on a Liberty design until I walked past another shop a few weeks later. The pockets are from the same fabric #ithaspockets 😇 I've worn both pieces, separately and together, quite a bit since finishing the set. A matching top and skirt set. What could be better together?! The skirt was a breeze to make and is so comfortable. The top was brutal and I messed up a million times. Made two different tops, added short sleeves to one, skipped the tie thing in front. Overall, it’s a winner but took way longer than I anticipated. ! Good things come to fabrics that wait 😁 in this case a lovely @swimstylepatterns #ssandiset 🧡💙 Can you believe I won this fabric back in 2021 and only just used it thanks to the #2fromstashamonth brought to us by @salixsews and @septemberfaden It was one of my prizes for the #sewrecreatethelook challenge hosted by @jenlegg_teescreatives and @sosewdressmaking I won best interpretation, scroll through for my entry. I have copied the post I did on this fabric, thought you might find it interesting what I said back when I first received it : This fabric is what I chose to put my voucher towards which I won from @fabricgodmother I have been a fan for along time so when I found out I had won a voucher for my #sewrecreatethelook entry I was over the fabric moon I had been looking at this fabric before but stopped myself from sending as It would have been an impulse buy. It's a Japanese fabric by #Kokkaco described as Latakko Cotton Bubble Seersucker. With it being only 110cm wide 1 needed more yardage. I thought at the time that I couldn't justify spending so much when I have fabric waiting to be made up. When I won this voucher I decided I wanted to put it towards a more frivolous fabric and treat myself to something different, Different it is, think of giant bubble wrap waiting to be popped, I love it, the colours are muted and looks like someone has glided their best hake paint brush over the surface. I like the orderly way the squares hold everything togeather, it has a light papery feel and the bubbles give it a 3d look. Haven't a clue what I am going to make but it gives me great pleasure. I fancy just a simple shaped dress so that the fabric does all the talking. Do you like it as much as me? Challenge 1 of the 2024 Busy Bee Sewing Challenge is complete! The lovely @gemini_stitchers sent me the Andi Set by @swimstylepatterns to sew up over the month of July. Not a pattern that had caught my attention before so it was a fun surprise to see how it would turn out. I, of course, lost track of time so it was a last minute sew to get it done and ready for reveal day.. but here it is and it is divine! I ❤️ the boho loungewear look of this co-ord set, which is totally helped by the lovely striped viscose I got from @lamazifabrics . It has a real summer sunset vibe going on. Kenzie modeling the #ssandiset @swimstylepatterns Top: Decided to make it reversible because it was just as easy! Size is cut as a small, with the side seems cut at xs Modifications: The pattern doesn’t have a lengthening/shorten line. I added a line and added 1.5” in length. The pattern calls for too much interfacing in the facing. In my reversible version I eliminated all the interfacing except for the front neckline, I used 1” width of interfacing. I removed the center back seem. Fabric: the patterned side is @libertyfabrics 100% cotton. The cream side is @fableism “sprout wovens” 100% cotton. The Gingham skirt is @merchantandmills fabric. Ok some very late summer sewing and very early summer sewing 🤣🤣 I made the blue version first in Sept and I was able to wear it as the holiday I had in Anglesey just happened to coincide with one of the few weeks where we had sun and no rain 😲 I liked it so much I made the other one for summer 2025. It is one of the tops from The Andi Set by Swim Style patterns #ssandiset. The blue top is actually a toile and wasn't blue when I made it. The colour was a grey and off white stripe and just looked meh😕 on me. But I loved the drape and feel of the fabric and wanted to wear it. So a packet of dye and it is now blue 😍😍 I measured between the med and large size, so cut out the large and took 2cm out of the back at the centre back. I also shaped the top of the centre back to fit my shape more. I tried fitting it to my sloping shoulders but it didn't look right, so I've put in shoulder pads - I had to cut them down to fit. The centre of the V also came very low down on me, that is why I made the version with the long neck tie for added security 🤣🤣🤣 I am so looking forward to warmer weather as these will get alot of use 🌞🌞🌞 #sewover50 #isewmyownclothes #isewmyownwardrobe #sewover50jan25 #swimstyleandiset

Quick wins 🙌 ⭐️ My brother bought me this @merchantandmills gingham cotton last Christmas and it’s been sitting in my stash ever since, with me overthinking what I should make with it because, despite the fact that I asked for this as a present, gingham isn’t in my usual repertoire! I have recently noticed a gap in my wardrobe for lightweight, long skirts, so on a complete whim yesterday I decided to whip this up. It’s a self-draft so no pattern online, but basically it’s just two pieces plus patch pockets and an elasticated waist. To get your measurements for the skirt pieces: 1. Top of skirt measurement: measure your waist, divide by two and and 20cm for ease. 2. Then for the bottom edge of the skirt piece add another 20cm to whatever your measurement was for the top. It should look like a triangle with the top chopped off (there’s probably an actual shape name for this but I can’t remember GCSE maths!) 3. Add an elasticated waist as per your preferred method - I prefer to fold down the top of the skirt over the elastic as it gives a much cleaner finish! Total make time? Probably 1h ish so a very good quick win for a first ever sewing project! Worn here with my #ssandiset blouse from @swimstylepatterns 🧵 🪡

Wasn't going to start anything for a couple of weeks whilst I wait for some fabric from Minerva which isn't in stock yet, for a very exciting make I have planned. Sliding in at the finish line to chronicle one more thing for #memademay because this one ended up EXACTLY like I imagined. I don't know if this is just what happens when a Slavic woman gets to a certain age but I've been wanting embroidery on everything, especially a coordinated set so I can live my best village peasant life this summer. This is the #ssandiset by @swimstylepatterns I used a linen blend that I bought from Joann’s. I managed to sew the whole skirt in one day. Which only happened because Evie wasn’t feeling well this morning so we skipped school work and I spent the majority of the day sewing. I haven’t done that in ages, and it felt good! Especially with the windows open and the birds chirping. I honestly love how comfortable this outfit is! I wore it around the house and I could just see my self strolling the streets of Florence 🤣 Plus, the air flow in the skirt will be perfect for the Italian summer heat. I felt slightly self conscious with part of my stomach showing, especially with how pasty I am, but I’m choosing to embrace my body! Wearing this outfit all summer long ☀️ The top is the #AndiTop by @swimstylepatterns, I just slightly changed the end of the sleeves to have a bit of a ruffle. I LOVE this fabric from @rainbowfabrickilburn, I bought it to make a friend’s birthday present and had a little bit left over for this top. I’m slightly cheating here because I was teaching my sister how to sew and she pretty much made this whole top, so not reaaally made by me but 🤫 Trousers are the are #TapiocaTrousers by @jessilous_closet and fabric is from @dalston.mill.fabrics, I added a little decorative white stitch on the pockets. I always find trousers really intimidating (the zip fly…) and put off starting them but it’s never as bad as I think it will be! I think I have found my favourite summer pattern 🧡💙🧡 This is the @swimstylepatterns Andi Set and I love it. I've made the top twice recently but this time I sewn the skirt as well for a summer coord set. My fabric has been patiently waiting for the right pattern to come along and I think it's a perfect combination. The large bubbles on this giant seersucker don't show up very well in this poor light, see last pic for a reminder of how they look. I lengthened the top this time by 1 inch which I'm happier with. I like how I can wear the centre tie pulled all the way down for a clean v neck or pull it up to go over my head for an interesting detail on the front. I also like that you can ruche it up as much as you want, depending on whether you like your midriff showing or not, before I added the extra length I couldn't quite get it to cover up as much as I wanted and have the ruched look I liked. Iove the long side splits and the amount of flare in the skirt. This is such an easy and quick to make set which is wonderful and comfy, and in this fabric, as light as a feather, I think one in a linen mix would be lovely too. I’ve been wearing this Andi top all summer ☀️ It technically is a draft version, but it hasn’t stopped me from wearing it. I keep reaching for it because it is so versatile. The ruching in the front allows you to change the look of it. I already have a few others in the making. One with the same ruching on the sleeves. 📓I should note this is from the newest Andi Set that is on the Swim Style Patterns site. If you look at older photos from this hashtag it may be from their previous version of the set which had narrower shoulders and a smaller v-neck. ⚠️ The .PDF files do not come with layers, so it is hard to distinguish your size in certain areas. I added a highlight with the sewing process. Fabric: Upcycled thrifted pants from Goodwill - Linen cotton 💚 I reused the pants drawstring to use for the top. Maximum re-using ♻️ Pattern: #anditop from @swimstylepatterns Size: Large Modifications: I accidentally used medium weight non-woven interfacing, so I trimmed a lot of it out after I sewed the entire top, but it all worked out and it washed/dried fine. I increased the seam allowance in the front where the v neck meets by almost 2 inches so that it would not be so low. When Andi met Evie. This post is a 2-in-1! The Andi Top by Swim Style Patterns AND the Evie Bias Skirt by Tessuti. The combo has been in my ideas bank for a while, and both are actually on my Make Nine list. I made the skirt a little while back but it didn’t fit as comfortably as I hoped. The details: Andi- such a lovey make! And it doesn’t take too long either! I opted for a couple of differences from my first/toile version- I sized up to 1XL, added sleeves, and I’ve left the tie long enough to go over my head, if I want. I really like that detail! Evie- size 12, which in hindsight I should have sized up to account for my body changing after childbirth. In my defense, my original Evie still fit me comfortably fairly far into my pregnancy, so I assumed all would be ok… it’s fine now, but I think I will remeasure myself properly before I make the next one to see how I like the fit. The fabrics are both stash fabrics. I fell in love with the floral linen from Potter and Co, but didn’t know what to make, so it has sat since 2021 waiting for its moment. I bought the white linen last year with the Evie in mind, so it was just about when I got around to sewing her up! I haven’t really been a challenge sewist, but the Sew April Blouse challenge hosted by @cloth_edit and @sewn_on_the_tyne motivated me to tick this Andi top off my Make Nine. It’s also providing some structure to my creative thinking and plans, which is helping me when I can’t think from fatigue or decision overwhelm. Sew Frugal did the same. The Andi top is actually pretty fun to make , love the drawing details and when I tried it on the first time I was thinking why not tie those strings in the back? Now about the deeds: I added 2 inches to the length of front and back bodice, and raised the neckline by ca 1.5 inches . The sleeves are shortened until the elbow , I do like to tuck them under to add some volume. I guess I could have made them even shorter, but that’s always easy to adjust later. I think it’s perfect on baggy jeans for transitional weather 🌞 with your favourite sandals or sneakers. It’s a straightforward pattern and easy to follow. Ok some very late summer sewing and very early summer sewing 🤣🤣 I made the blue version first in Sept and I was able to wear it as the holiday I had in Anglesey just happened to coincide with one of the few weeks where we had sun and no rain 😲 I liked it so much I made the other one for summer 2025. It is one of the tops from The Andi Set by Swim Style patterns #ssandiset. The blue top is actually a toile and wasn't blue when I made it. The colour was a grey and off white stripe and just looked meh😕 on me. But I loved the drape and feel of the fabric and wanted to wear it. So a packet of dye and it is now blue 😍😍 I measured between the med and large size, so cut out the large and took 2cm out of the back at the centre back. I also shaped the top of the centre back to fit my shape more. I tried fitting it to my sloping shoulders but it didn't look right, so I've put in shoulder pads - I had to cut them down to fit. The centre of the V also came very low down on me, that is why I made the version with the long neck tie for added security 🤣🤣🤣 I am so looking forward to warmer weather as these will get alot of use 🌞🌞🌞 #sewover50 #isewmyownclothes #isewmyownwardrobe #sewover50jan25 #swimstyleandiset

This is 43 🥂. Last weekend we had 24 hours in Windsor to dress up, eat out and enjoy some cocktails. Of course I had to make a garment for the occasion and went for a sequin skirt. I picked up this stretch mesh backed sequin fabric in the @rainbowfabrickilburn sale and some matching viscose crepe to line it with (to the split). I made it up as I went which was really freeing and enjoyable and I’m super pleased with the hidden elastic waist band and the overall fit and feel of it (but maybe not the hundreds of sequins all over my sewing nook floor). Andi Set: wearable toile that became my Christmas Day outfit (because I had no steam to make anything else before Christmas) This was an enjoyable sew, with great instructions (as all Swim Style patterns are). I went back and lowered the armscye and inch, and will need to do this (plus a little more) on the pattern before I make my next one. That, or I make it in the next size up. I can see myself wearing these items as separates, too. I love the versatility of the sets that Swim Style puts together. Forward planning. I bought this viscose in Spring/Summer from @sewmesunshine.uk but was so indecisive about what to make, that I’ve only just got around to using it. On our return from our family holiday in Wales (where I had been ill for 90% of the time), we booked next year’s holiday to Crete. This inspired me to make some pool/ beach wear that will keep me cool but stop me burning to a crisp. The @swimstylepatterns Andi set fit the bill- a great throw-on cover up that could be mix and matched with other items in my wardrobe. I omitted the side splits (for speed) and added 5cm to the bodice length. As an ambassador for Swim Style Patterns, I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to bring their patterns to life as a truly loved garment in my closet! My personal style is all about simple silhouettes that have a casual, effortless "vibe" and are all about comfort, which makes Swim Style's aesthetic such a fit for me. For this post, I've paired some gorgeous viscose fabric from Beyond the Pink Door with the Andi Set pattern, perfect to highlight the billowy sleeves and side slits on the skirt. The pattern includes the top (as seen) and a midi skirt (which I have shortened as I only had 2.5 meters in my stash). There is also a sleeveless version of the top which I'm sure that I'll incorporate at some point! Clear instructions and illustrations made this such an easy look to make- no snaps, zippers or buttons involved. Sorry I'm not very good at taking photos in the wild 😅. I very rarely take selfies and is usually behind the camera when I'm out and about so all the clothes I made for my holiday collection are still going to be shown on this staircase or in my sewing room. I seriously admire those that can take the time and effort to show us their beautiful handmade clothes and give us a beautiful location to match... Looking at you @mauve.cloud.studio . I made this in July as part of a holiday wardrobe for October. We were heading to a tropical location so the next half dozen projects (or more 🤔) will all be clothing suited to travel... especially travel to a warm climate. I do own a few dresses that will suit warmer climates but I wanted to add a few more pieces specifically made for this trip. Even though I purchased this pattern way before I booked the trip, it was the first pattern I wanted to make the moment that booking was finalised. I made a size 1XL back then but I have since lost a bit of measurement from my bust, waist and hip. I tried it on recently and it's still perfect for me. I think the style is a bit loose so you can go up a size or down and it will still be fine. I was chatting to friends recently and I told them I am off the fitted garment train for a while because after clearing my wardrobe of my older clothes that no longer fit due to their designs and my changing body, I was sad. The only clothes that survived the clearing were the loose fitting ones.
