And here is my husband's spring and summer wardrobe, carefully made with love by me 👩‍❤️‍👨💕 Now I am mostly making clothes for him, as I already made many dresses and tops for me, and do not really need anything more for now (if I sew something for me it's either activewear or something new I just want to try, or simply because I can! 😈). Mateusz needed a whole set of new t-shirts and shorts, especially that they became his everyday pieces of garments here (he refuses to wear jeans and sweatshirts in Australia 😆), and my goal was to create a matching set before our holiday in the beginning of May. The task have been completed successfully! 🎉 Not everything was made recently, but definitely most of what you can see here. Kevin’s newest pants! ✨   Pattern: @elbe_textiles #JohnsPants, drafted on a men’s block for hip sizes 32.5 to 56.5in. (Released today! 🎉)   Size: Kevin’s waist is 34” and hips are 39.5” so I graded from a D waist to an E hip, then I lengthened the inseam 3” at the L/S line to account for Kevin being 6’4” and having a 33” inseam.   When grading the pants from the D waist to E hip, I initially did this on the side seam of the front leg pattern piece, but in order to maintain the integrity of the slash pocket (and prevent it from gaping), I should have kept the slash pocket as is, and graded on the pocket bag piece instead, so keep this in mind if you fall between sizes!   I really enjoyed sewing these pants. The instructions are very clear and it came together in about 4-5 hours. The zipper fly instructions are different than I’ve done before and was quite painless!   Fabric: Houndstooth star-check linen from @linenlab.co.kr (gifted – use code MADEBY_FRANCESCA for 10% off 😘). Kevin called dibs on this fabric the second I opened the package, and has been begging me to make him pants out of it, so I’m glad this worked out!   The fabric is a very loose weave which causes it to be quite shifty and fray easily. I spray-starched all the fabric before cutting out the pattern and was careful to finish the seams immediately to prevent fraying. The advantage of the loose weave is the incredible drape and soft hand of this fabric, which is the softest linen I’ve ever worked with!   We took these pics after Kevin had worn the pants for two days, so you can see how the linen has worn in. BALI 🏝️ It took Patti & Niko over a DECADE to finally tie the knot & while I was growing impatient it sure was worth the wait 😘 While in Bali we spent a few days each in Uluwatu, Ungasen and Ubud. Took my first surf lesson & can’t wait to surf again (when my big toe is less angry 🥴). Learned all about indigo dyeing and tried our hand at it at @threadsoflifebali, ate lots of good food (& didn’t get sick!), & saw some very cool wildlife! We were hoping to take a Batik class, but couldn’t fit it in so we bought supplies & will try our hand at it at home! I wasn’t able to go fabric shopping in Denpasar, so no recs for that! Not gonna pretend Bali is my *vibe* but we tried to make the most out of it & here are some pics! I had lots of overlap with Japan outfits, although I did send some things home with my brother before traveling to Bali since not everything was going to be applicable. I also wore a few dresses that I realize I don’t have pictures of but were life savers for beach days. For the wedding, the fabric I ordered two months in advance never arrived so I rummaged through my stash and made a #CheriTop and #PeppermintWrapSkirt out of a wonderful @linenlab.co.uk linen. Kevin has become *accustomed* to matching shirts and gave me a hard time for not making him a matching top. That said, he wore a #M6044 top in washed linen and #JutlandPants which matched well enough. I love trying something new! I made myself a sizer graded out to an F at the hip. Sometimes I sew really cute things, and then sometimes I sew very basic, non-asthetic, bopping-around-getting-stuff-done-wear. This is a much repeated outfit from this summer, worn today for a family mountain bike ride (see last photo). It's the @elbe_textiles #sagetee made from some thrifted cotton jersey in size D (cut for my 38" bust measurement, didn't grade out even tho my hips call for a larger size). It's the perfect, not fussy, oversize tee. I've reached for it every time it's been clean all summer. The shorts are the #abbleggings in the bike shorts view, size 14 (43" hip) I think. They're made in some supplex from @oursocialfabric. They're okay. The pattern is fine, it's a freebie, I probably wouldn't make it again. The fabric has held up to some major activity this summer though.

Perhaps not the most exciting thing I’ve ever made, but nevertheless very valued. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve made the @elbe_textiles #sagetee … Always in a merino or merino blend. This time I made some notes on the methods I used, and saved them as a highlight: “merino tips”. The only real difference between my tee and the original is that I’ve added a facing to the back neck. I wanted to create a simple tee that I could pair with pretty much anything in the summer from colorful patterned pants to white linen, and also wide enough to easily wear over a dress. This design is also very wearable under a blazer or a cardigan so it can be worn even beyond the summer season. The Bonbon scarf is a super simple scarf that is knitted in bias in garter stitch. I knitted mine in a mix of fingering weight yarn and mohair but you could also make it in a single strand of DK weight yarn. This is the ultimate scrap yarn project as you can easily change the width of the stripes or add more colors, you only need a total 100 m (110 yards) of fingering weight yarn and the same amount of mohair for the whole scarf, so it's doable with a less than half a ball of yarn 🧶 Remember also that I have the @flockfiberfestival Flock-along discount going on, with 20% off all my self-published summer top and tee patterns with the code FLOCK2025. Some of my upcoming summer knit patterns 😍 All of these are knitted seamlessly top down, more details below 👇 1. #LucyTee is coming next week! It's knitted in a textural stitch pattern which consists only of knit and purl stitches. I knitted mine using @sandnesgarn Sunday and @gepardgarn Kid Seta, but any fingering+mohair combo will do, or you can also use a single strand of DK weight yarn. This tee is perfect for Finnish summer or chilly summer days elsewhere 🙈 2. #SageTee is coming on Friday! This one is a minimalistic v-neck tee with dropped shoulders and folded cuffs and hem. I knitted mine with @isageryarn Trio 2, which has been one of my favorite summer yarns lately. It's not the nicest to knit to be honest, but it softens with wash and wear and makes a lovely airy fabric with a beautiful drape. 3. #PenelopeTop pattern is coming in June, and it has been my favorite of the summer knits I have knitted this year. So good that I casted on another one right after finishing this one! This white version is knitted with @knittingforolive Pure silk, and the second version that you can see in the previous photo in my feed is knitted with @sandnesgarn Tynn Line. 4. #SaltwindTee is coming just before midsummer and it's my take on the classic striped tee. This tee flew off my needles, because somehow it feels like stripes are faster to knit than plain unicolor stockinette. Anyone agree? I knitted my Saltwind tee using @sandnesgarn Duo. I’m solo parenting today meaning that I managed to turn taking outfit photos into a baby-led activity, although my daughter did manage to spit up on both my dress and the cap immediately before the first shot. So maybe don’t zoom in, or do if that’s your thing. I won’t judge your hobbies. The clean girl aesthetic, if you’re not familiar, is what happens when minimalism meets lip gloss and decides that personality is optional. Think: slick bun, glowy skin, beige-on-beige fits, and a tote bag that whispers “I drink lemon water and judge people who don’t.” I took that brief and added… trauma. Steadily working on it. Me Made May Day 4 I’ve started making a dent in the sorting out of my wardrobe. The layer at the bottom of the drawer that hasn’t been worn all year will find another use as rags in my cleaning cupboard (if it’s not in a condition to go to the charity shop) or will be passed on to someone else who may get more wear out of them. Does anyone else have any creative ideas for their clothes they no longer wear? I’m conscious that when you take things home made to the charity shop they often can’t sell it on. And really your just passing in your problem to someone else to get rid of. Also wearing my @elbe_textiles #sagetee and some shorts I picked up at @fab_scrap which were a sample garment. New pattern alert! ✨ Elbe Textiles has just released the Solberg Jacket. I really enjoyed sewing this, details like back pleats and understitching give it a crisp and polished feel, but the jacket is still casual enough for lounging at home. I used a cotton drill fabric from @spotlightstores and made view A in size E. The bodice is lengthened 4cm and the sleeves adjusted to be full length. Not planned but Mr Leopard Street's entire outfit here is designed by Lauren 🙂. Shorts are his oldest and most loved pair of #triggshorts in olive linen from @wearethefabricstore. Pine green is apparently hard to catch in a pic. But these are a lovely, saturated, forest kind of green. I think the front one is the best. It's a free sewing pattern, the @elbe_textiles #sagetee and we loved it. Easy to cut, easy to sew, nice instructions. And the cotton (and 5% elastene) fabric from #fabricgodmother was wonderful to work with. First thing I've sewn for my other half and he's very happy with it. The one in back (for me) is also a free sewing pattern. It's the #grainlinehemlock tee but while the fabric is lovely, I'm not so sure it's the right match for the pattern. Since it's boxy, I thought a little drape would be nice and tried this horizontally ribbed, mostly viscose and slightly heavy jersey ... I think it's a Meet Milk fabric. Although thicker, it isn't warm at all. I added in some clear elastic to reinforce the shoulder seams and around the neck and am very glad I did. I think it's a bit too heavy and drapey but will wear it till the viscose pills up (which isn't going to take long, from early signs).
