I’m working towards a copy of my favorite tee, so I used a mashup of the @elbe_textiles #staleytop with the Mimi G Style #s8177 tee. The body and sleeves are the Staley, with the neckline and neckband from the Mimi G pattern. After having no negative ease at the waist with my recent Dawson top, I wanted to make sure that the Staley had lots, so I graded the view B from size G at the bust to H for the waist. Then, since the C/D cup wasn’t quite enough for me, I did a 1 1/2” FBA and left that width at the waist as well. All that went a bit too overboard; see pic 2 for just how much extra there is. I also lengthened this 2” and It’s still a little shorter than I’d like, but I am nearly 5’10”. I was very happy that, other than when I forgot that the machine resets the stitch length when it’s restarted, I had zero tunneling issues. The neckline was perfect the first time (pic 3), though it’s hard to see on black. EDITED... this has turned into a #SewingSOS #So50Help. I don't know what I had in mind when I bought this fabric ...a singlet I think. I need another metre if it. Maybe I can squeeze and LB out of it . ........ It's been quiet on the sewing front over here but what I'm working on today is a #StaleyTop from @elbe_textiles . I made both versions a year or two ago, swipe to see, and love how they work together apart from the neck. I don't really like a scooped neck so why didn't I alter it ? Too late now. Bought this linen jersey in @merchantandmills last November I think. Isn't it a glorious colour? I'm going to make view A and use this favourite t shirt neckline as a model. #MeMadeMade2024 continues! I can’t decide if I’m cold or not today, it’s strange weather. I’m sporting navy canvas #pomonapants that I’ve worn and posted so many times before - long may they live! The top is a #staleytop in super soft French Terry that I think I got from @sitkafabrics. I shortened the sleeves on this one for my t-Rex arms and it’s one of my fave garments. Simple and classic and comfy. The jacket in the pic is my same old same old #wikstenunfoldingjacket. Day 5: New to the grid #staleytop in a lovely merino wool knit from @corefabrics - there are a ton of adjustments so it’s a base size I with an SBA down to the G bust size, the sleeves are lengthened 1”, I omitted the cuffs, I doubled the hem band depth, and I used the size N hem band because I didn’t want quite such a curved hem. Following my own #OneForThemOneForMe rule… 😉 I may have just found a new favourite t-shirt pattern! I usually shy away from lower than high crew round necklines, but: 1. This music print with cassette tapes on it took me right back to my youth 2. Lauren names patterns after the musicians she listens to while making the patterns, so one of hers seemed like a good idea 3. I’ve never met an @elbe_textiles pattern I didn’t love 4. The #StaleyTop has been on my want to try list for a looooong while - I think it was @judithrosalind ‘s versions that first made me look at it…Beautiful shaping on this pattern, Lauren! I’m pretty sure this soft cotton knit music print was from the last #SewistsPicnicYVR (please correct me if I’m wrong!) and initially grabbed it for a t-shirt for my nephew or A… too late! Day 11 of #MeMadeMayFat brings us a new memade. I tested the Staley pattern a few years ago but completely forgot about it till this week when reaching for my go to tshirt patterns I saw it and decided to make it instead. It was a great decision! Going to make a couple more soon. • Tshirt: #staleytop by @elbe_textiles ( up to B:58.5; W:50; H:60.2) in linen knit from my hometown street market. I made a straight size J based on my bust measurement and taking in consideration the loose fit. I love how it turned out and the relaxed look due to the fabric. I guess I'm doing me made may? 🤷 @elbe_textiles #reznorskirt Go make this skirt. It doesn't get enough attention, and I want Lauren to make more cool, edgier shit. It's a great sew. I love pieces with interesting draping - and the pleat looks complicated but is not complicated to construct. This is an eggplant purple rayon from an etsy shop going out of business... 4ish years ago. I like to let pieces marinate in the stash! It's taken a bit of trial and error to figure out how to style this, but I think these two options are winners. Obviously, it pairs with the @eble_textiles #staleytop, a cropped tee / pullover. I've made at least 4 of them and dig the easy, oversized but not sloppy look. This is a really nice lightweight French terry from the aforementioned etsy store, and it's sooooo cozy. I just squeezed it out of a 1.25 (a 60" wide yard) remnant. Option 2 is another @sewhouse7 #skylinetee in a sapphire cotton from SH7s online store. I *****love***** this color. 💙 Fit notes: Reznor - size h waist blended to a size j hip. In my next version, I'd lengthen the lining a bit. Staley - Size H shoulder /  Size I body. Sleeves I widened to K at bicep. Body lengthened 2". Forward shoulder 3/4". Still quite cropped. I keep reflecting on 2023 as a way to gain a clearer vision for what I hope to achieve in 2024. And when I think about all that happened in 2023 with my business, I can’t help but think about the new fabric I had made specifically for the shop. It brought me so much joy to make fibers that I have come to love knitting with available to home sewists too. Bridging the gap of fiber accessibility in fabrics has become an unexpected passion and mission for me. I want to create more natural fiber blends in knit fabrics and introduce at least 2 this coming year. I would love to bring in more, but that’s where I will start. I also learned a lot from this release and how I might like to do things differently next time. For example I want to outsource some of the sample sewing. Although I LOVE every garment I made for the release, it would have been helpful to have designers and influencers work with it prior to release to share a different vision for the fabric and to reach new audiences. Reaching out to folks without any prior interaction isn’t exactly my strong suit, so I’m hoping that by sharing this openly some designers and influencers might be more apt to approaching me so I know I can reach out when the time is right? I also never shared the collection in its entirety last year. Rainy afternoon for my #MeMadeMay pic. It’s another @elbe_textiles double day! With a #StaleyTop in @meetmilk_fabric self-stripe ottoman knit which is the slouchiest comfiest light jumper, and a #BuckleyTote in rust canvas. I’ve made two of these totes and they are a perfect practical size and a quick make. More @Seamwork #SeamworkMel joggers on the bottom in @mindthemaker umber sweat fleece. I gave you a sneak peek of these #stokxplaypants in my last post. They are an upcycled tablecloth tossed in the remnants of red dye. I love the pinkness of them. I've been playing with different tops and have decided that pink is definitely a neutral. First up is a #stokxskatertop in fabric given to me by @joeandroxy, but which I think is still available at @knitwitfabrics The Fibremood Harper from some french terry in two colourways teamed beautifully with it. Then I wore a #stokxhackertop which is a few years old now but still a favourite. A very elderly black tee shirt I found in the wardrobe at the holiday place; it's nice to rediscover things. Well daylight savings started this weekend. So summer is on its way here and I am showing off a new merino top 😂😂 This is fabric from the deep stash but it’s definitely from @wearethefabricstore I had an idea of a merino with gathered cuffs, so I used @elbe_textiles Staley T-Shirt with the sleeve pattern hacked. This is exactly the same pattern as I used for my deep purple top which is further down the grid. On the first top I used elastic for the cuffs but this time I made deep cuffs which I shaped slightly to be wider at the top as I have wide forearms and thought it might give a better fit at the wrist. I am very happy with the result. The gathered sleeve bottom makes it different from a plain long sleeve t-shirt but it’s not annoying. 😁 This is a great wardrobe staple, even if a little bit unseasonal.
