A classic quick snap in the work bathroom but wanted to capture this outfit combo of the #clobiasskirt and #wolfetop together. Taking the time to photograph makes is difficult! Wolfe top is by @elbe_textiles, I sat on this pattern for ages before committing to buying and wow. It's so good!! Highly recommend it, great shape, easy to make, good drafting. So easy to layer over all the strappy summer dresses. Clo bias skirt is made in a cotton shirting from @drapersfabrics ✨

#wolfetop @elbe_textiles View A Size C Deadstock merino wool @rickracktextiles -this wool had less stretch than recommended, and so it fits snug, but I only had 1m and I made it work😎 I’m planning on making another, same version in Blackbirds Layer Up Lyocell wool jersey blend #sophiescarf @petiteknit 100% Alpaca from last year’s trip to Stavanger, Norway (wool is the best kind of souvenir♥️)

A few more things we need to do to get this finished, but we're getting there. Lucy decided a few months ago she wanted to make a CatNap costume for Fan Expo this year. The version she wants has a zipper down the front, so I need to add that, and she wants to do a bit more work on the eyes of the mask. She made the mask (we need to attach the elastic), and I showed her how to make the resin gold necklace so we worked on that together. The clothes are made by me (and she's finally in adult patterns so I'm just using patterns I already own): long sleeve is @elbe_textiles #WolfeTop cropped a few inches, leggings are @sewliberated #LimestoneLeggings and the crop top underneath is the #LimestoneTop. She is pretty happy with all this and I'm glad that I've got some more options for things to sew for her.

Yet another entry into #magamjelousjuly I do envy people who have curated coordinated wardrobes. Here are some of my attempts to get more ‘together’ outfits. These latest makes are predominantly from patterns designed by @elbe_textiles #howerdelskirt in a cotton batik. I may omit the bottom tier next time. A great fit around the waist. #wolfetop in a cotton jersey. I like the twist detail. At first I thought the fit might be a bit snug but I think it’s because I’m used to loose tops. The instructions were 👍and easy to sew. #fremantlepants these are not a new make, but have been dyed from white to blue. Much more functional for me! My most technical sew for a while is the #cornellshirt in an organic poplin cotton. I think I have mastered the art of button plackets! I will shorten the length and button placket on my next make. A versatile layering piece. I have a few #millerwaistcoat which go well with the shirt. Thanks to @suestoney @sewing_in_spain and @hportemanteau for hosting this challenge 😊Apologies for the squinting in the photos, the winter sun was so bright 😎#elbetextiles #magamsewalong #sewover50 #sewover50july24

Hello!! Otra vez yo! @elbe_textiles #wolfetop

The new @elbe_textiles #wolfetop is out in the world. 😁 Despite being a simple top, the excellent drafting makes it stand out. I really like the shape of the neckline. Not too high nor too low. The body is fitted but not clingy. I took 2cm off the length on account of my height (5’2”) which worked out well. My only other mod was to add some fun twill tape to the back neckline. This fabric was a mystery knit from my stash, I’m assuming a cotton with nearly no stretch. It was a huge pain in the bum to work with and instigated many bad words. My measurements put me smack in between sizes so since my fabric was not very stretchy I chose the larger size. #sewingwithknits #elbetextiles #sewingstaples #handmadeeveryday #indiepatterns #sewingpatternrelease

The 3 Little Wolfes (+ a Reznor) 📖 When I finished my tester version of the #WolfeTop by @elbe_textiles , I knew I wanted to make a coordinated set with the #ReznorSkirt (also by elbe). But why stop there? I’ve had these printed stretch meshes for a couple/few years now, and this felt like the right thing to do. Here’s the rundown! Tops: 1. Twist front cropped version with long sleeves, hacked using the slash-and-spread method to give it this wide bell hem. I can’t remember where the lovely navy-and-rust tropical mesh came from (somewhere on Etsy?), but it is very soft and silky. 2. Sleeveless twist crop. With my striped one (see grid), I added bands to the armholes, but with this one, I did a knit binding that’s turned under and topstitched. Both methods work well; just wanted to try something different. Fabric for this and the skirt is an AMAZING modal from @surgefabricshop . I got this with a gift certificate and holy bananas — if you’re looking for the perfect knit, this might just be it! I love everything about it: the weight, the colour, the hand, how it sews up…just a dream! A little heavier than your typical lightweight bamboo (so it feels a little less revealing), and slightly cool to the touch. I just love it! 3. Plain long sleeve tee version with no mods, other than shortening the length a bit and cutting the bodice and sleeve hems with a fresh blade so I could leave them unfinished. This mesh (which will make an appearance in another garment soon!) was from a @mmadalynne collection awhile back and it feels like air. It’s the softest thing I’ve ever felt, yet it doesn’t feel flimsy. Skirt: At first I thought the modal might be too slinky for the Reznor Skirt, but when I saw @andrea_djones ‘s black one out of seemingly similar fabric, I knew it would work. This is the asymmetrical drape-front view, and it’s so, so good. I want a black or charcoal grey one for the fall/winter. A quick and easy sew (DO pay attention to your layout and the instructions for when pieces are sewn wrong sides together, though!), it feels so effortlessly chic. Magic! ✨ #SewOver50 #SewOver50July24 #elbetextiles #sewistsofinstagram

Ok so… better late than never. I took a first series of pictures and ended up hating them, so I took my time and took better pictures. I was lucky to test the Wolfe top for @elbe_textiles and I even made two versions of the top! I rarely make two of the same thing so you know it’s that good! 👍🏻 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I made a size G graded to I at hips and waist. I also added 1” to my sleeve length. I made it in a viscose jersey for this version (see next post tomorrow for the other version). I’ve been wearing it as a summer long sleeve to protect my arms from the sun and it’s been wonderful and certainly very useful. I can see myself wearing it as a base layer in winter too, or to make it in something warmer as a standalone layer too. Stay tuned for more! #wolfetop #elbetextilewolfe #wolfetopseated #disabledfashion #disabled #disabledmaker #maker #sewist #disabledsewistsofinstagram #adaptivesewing

Here's my first #WolfeTop, I was a tester for this new pattern from @elbe_textiles and decided to colour block to use up some stash. The finished pattern is slightly different, Lauren used our feedback to widen the sleeves slightly (they're a little snug here) and make a few other minor adjustments. The pattern was very clear and it's an easy sew. For this half and half version I just cut the back in two pieces instead of on the fold and sewed that together first, and same for the neck binding. It's cute and I've already been asked to make another one for Lucy.

Is there anything more fun than polka dot pants 🖤⚪️❤️ Quite a few pattern adjustments went into these pants but so glad I spent the time. They are incredibly comfortable and so so fun! I've been planning to make the #WolfeTop by #ElbeTextiles for a while, so the #MAGAMDopamineDecember #TeeParty is perfectly timed 😀 I'm in the midst of a huge fabric sort out at the moment, and I came across this very bright blue, the leftovers of a previous project which got recycled as I decided it was not my colour. I was going to destash it, but as an experiment, I added a scrap to black dye and was very pleased with the results. I'd assumed it was 100% synthetic, but it must be a mix as some of the fibres dyed black giving a great overall effect. I had a very frustrating start as I put my cutting boards, fabric and pattern out ready and then ran out of energy and it had to be cleared off the table at dinnertime 🙄 #SewOver50 #SewOver50December24 #SewOverAgeism #SewDisabled #ChronicallySewn #HandmadeWardrobe #SewingIsMyTherapy

#MeMadeMiercoles favourite skirt through the seasons edition. I’ve worn this skirt A LOT since I made it last spring. It proved to be the perfect in between seasons garment worn with sneakers and t-shirts and a dream to wear in summer with cropped boxy tops. I had the intention and the will to wear it also in the fall because of the colours and the easy to combine with other garments in my wardrobe. Happy to report that the skirt is being a fall champion and I love how it looks with tights and boots and chunky sweaters. Crossing all my fingers that I find a way to wear it in the depths of winter as well 🤞 • Skirt: #peppermintpocketskirt by @peppermintmagazine and @paper_theory (up to W:47.5; H:57.5) size 28 with 1” full bum adjustment in the most luxurious linen from @aandrfabrics Top: #wolfetop by @elbe_textiles (up to B:58.5; W:50; H:60.2) in linen blend knit from my hometown street market. I made the C/D cup, size I at the bust and shoulders grading to size L at the waist and sleeves. Fake Spring 🌼 🌱 has me in a photo mood, so here I am in my tester version of @elbe_textiles #wolfetop made quite some time ago (sorry Lauren!!) The pattern came together really quickly, was well drafted and the construction well explained. I love the wrap front and can picture it with little cap sleeves when it's Actual Spring🌞 I made my size according to the measurement chart, in the larger cup size. It did come up a wee bit shorter on my front compared to others, so I'll add a bit of length to the front only on my next version. The back length is perfect - hits the waistband of all my pants. Despite being shorter than my comfortable crop length, I've worn it every week since making it. Plus it looks cute with these pants 🌟🫶 Definitely will make again!! Fabric from @rathdownefabrics P.S. Please ignore my washing and socks and birks - like I said, Fake Spring😊 #handmadewardrobe #imakemyownclothes #melbournesewists #memadeeveryday

When I saw @Bayhaus7023 newest post I found myself inspired to give these two new patterns by @elbe_textiles a go. The skirt has fun ‘swishy‘ vibes & the twist in the top is so clever! Pattern: #wolfetop & #howerdelskirt Fabric: Wolfe Top-lightweight bamboo jersey from @knitwitfabrics . Skirt-cotton voile -print designer @hollysanders_art & sourced from @neridahansenfabrics Construction & Mods: Wolfe Top, view A , Size D ( my usual size in her patterns) My bamboo knit was lightweight. I doubled it in the front and back because I didn’t want any transparency. The instructions are clear and the pattern is well illustrated . I did have to shorten the neck binding a bit as bamboo knit is so stretchy. I also did a FSA . The top is designed to be cropped so you may want to add length if that’s not what you’re after. Mine frames my belly button … so I’ll lengthen it a bit next time 😂 Howerdell skirt. View A also size D. .. I managed to get the skirt out of 1.7m but had to cut crosswise & patch a bit to get there. The pattern suggests 2.1M. Lauren suggests medium weight fabrics & voile isn’t. I lined this for 2 reasons.. because I didn’t want it see through and to add some weight to the first tier so the weight draped it down at the sides . I wasn’t after a ‘poofy hip’ look. The contoured waist has an invisible zipper giving it a lovely shape. I used a stabilising tape around the waist . It doesn’t have side notches so if you don’t pay attention you could attach the 2nd tier wrong & have to unpick all that gathering 🙄 Styling : I’m wearing puka shell earrings. Given to me ( & made by ) @smune .. thank u Sandy 😘 #elbetextiles #sewover50july24 #sewover50 #dopaminesewing #neridahansenfabrics #modernsewist #memadeeveryday

I had the absolute pleasure of pattern testing the newest pattern from @elbe_textiles recently. The #wolfetop is an elevated basic- easily whipped up in an afternoon from your chosen knit fabric. The construction is simple with detailed yet easy to follow instructions included. I used the finished garment measurements to choose my size (this pattern is drafted for 50% stretch or more and has negative ease) and the only@modification I made was to shorted the sleeves 1” which is pretty standard for me. I was excited to use this soft and stretchy jersey from @spotlightstores that I’ve had for a while now. Unfortunately I didn’t have quite enough so the back panel was cut from a less-stretchy cotton jersey that was handed along to me. I think the contrast works well! This top has been so easy to throw on, to layer and dress up or down. The options are really limitless - a totally different look could be achieved by sizing up or using a different kind of fabric. I’m imagining a more oversized and slightly lengthened version in a faux knitted fabric for those cosy days! Congratulations @elbe_textiles on another wonderful pattern and thank you for selecting me to help test ❤️ #sewyourownclothes #memadewardrobe #sewknitsthatfit #twisttop

I made a basic T-shirt with an excellent fit. The shape of the neckline is not too high, not too low. Just the way I like it. I shortened the top by 3 cm and narrowed it by 2 cm at the hips. I’ve been making a few skirts for my daughter. She’s a fan of the ‘slay all day’ knit skirts by @patternemporium_kate Pattern: #slayalldayskirt by #patternemporium . Kate’s patterns are terrific. Great instructions & illustrations. Lots of variations & testers! The white top is the #wolfetop (prev posted) in bamboo. Fabric: The white/black print is a spandex knit in the maxi length option with a back split , the teal skirt also maxi has side splits & was sewn in a waffle knit (both sourced from Spotlight).. the short skirt has the longer waist panel option & I selected the mid-centre split. For this skirt I used a winter knit purchased from Wendy at @knitwitfabrics . All skirts were cut in a size 12. I’m definitely getting more experienced in sewing with knits! #sewingknits #sewover50August24 #sewover50 #modernsewist #knitwitfabrics

Here’s my second version of the @elbe_textiles #wolfetop as a bathing suit!! A rash guard with a twist (literally) and the #limestoneleggings as a bottom. Read on for more details. I was lucky to test the Wolfe top for @elbe_textiles and I even made two versions of the top! I rarely make two of the same thing so you know it’s that good! 👍🏻 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For the Wolfe, I made a size G graded to I at hips and waist. I also added 1” to my sleeve length. For the Limestone Leggings, I made a straight size 22 after measuring my favourite pair of RTW legging shorts as I haven’t found something that felt comfortable and cute on me in the pattern department. Until now! The front rise is short and the back rise is long, it feels like they were almost made for the seated position! Love them, thanks @sewliberated ! I made them in a swim fabric from @fabricville for this version and it’s very soft and stretchy. Very comfortable but you might want to add a lining to the front at least to feel more supported and not showing every little details to the world. I will be wearing a bikini top underneath (here I have a bra). #wolfetop #elbetextilewolfe #wolfetopseated #limestoneleggingsseated #disabledfashion #disabled #disabledmaker #maker #sewist #disabledsewistsofinstagram #adaptivesewing

I got to test the #wolfetop by @elbe_textiles – which is out today! I made view B, which has a simple silhouette – perfect for pairing it with knitted tops and vests. Hey! Happy Launch Day to the Wolfe Top by @elbe_textiles !! 🤩🥳💜 I got to test this very cool pattern and these are two incarnations of my wearable muslin: with and without sleeves. I was actually hoping to get another one made (along with a Reznor Skirt) before the launch, but stupid COVID botched those plans (kicked my ass, but on the mend ), so here we are. 🤷♀️ This is the twist-front cropped view, and there’s also a basic plain tee view as well. To me, this is the perfect twist front: it has the lines and effect of a twist, but it actually lies almost flat, thanks to the elegant patterning and construction. Lauren has a reel and YT video so you can check out what I mean…so clean & tidy! Sizes up to 58.5” / 147.5cm bust with both B cup and C/D cup options; I made the C/D with no alterations and the fit is spot on! 🙌 I had a small piece of really lightweight striped bamboo jersey passed on to me by @marvalune (😘), so wanted to take advantage of the centre front seam to play with a diagonal placement. While I had enough to squeeze out some 3/4 length sleeves, I fell short when it came to trying to line up the stripes with the front bodice armscye — fine for the muslin, but a bit chaotic to my eye (plus, it was giving more Where’s Waldo’s Aunt than intended). But with this heat, I LOVE it as a tank! I believe there’s a launch sale on, so do go check out this great elevated basic! #WolfeTop #ElbeTextiles #NewPattern #PatternTester #SewOver50 #SewOver50July24 #SewistsOfInstagram

Last autumn/winter my jersey basic was all about the puffed sleeve. This year it’s the twist. The Wolfe top was a quick sew and I love it. @elbe_textiles patterns are always a dream to sew and give off a “could have been bought in a shop” vibe. I used leftovers on this to check fit etc but no mods were needed. It’s been rainy and stormy over this side of the world so please excuse the poor lighting. Just sharing my tester version of the @elbe_textiles #WolfeTop . I made a view A of course! I’m obsessed with the twist! I used a very slinky and stretchy jersey from the deep stash and it’s perfect for it. I’m between size A and B and this is a size B with no mod (except I stuffed up the sleeve hem so I just cut them off and hemmed again). When I have time I’ll make a size A to see how like the fit. If a crop top isn’t your thing, view B is a classic fitted version and it might be for you! This top looks simple but I love everything about it, especially the neckline. It just sits perfectly, so does the twist! Just love a well designed wardrobe staple! #memadewardrobe #imademyclothes #sewingaddict #perthsews #memade #memadeeveryday #asiansewists
