Using this beautifully soft floral French terry fabric from the lovely Sarah of @sarahsimplelifeuk I've made up another #msribsweater from @modern_sewing_co . It's such a quick and easy make, just what I needed after completely messing up the fly front on some trousers that I can't face trying put right at the moment! The fabric isn't too thick and it sews up really nicely. The ribbing is from @newcrafthouse .

For jersey month I decided on sewing the #msribsweater. When chosing the fabrics and colors for the capsule wardrobe I had no idea what colour or pattern to use for the jersey piece. But having a swedish summer landscape as ispiration in mind I realised it had to be a laid back piece with a „casually throwing over a dress in the evening vibe“. After I found this amazing french terry in ecru called champagne 🍾 and a matching ribbing, both from @kreando.ch, the project was set. I saved something! This is Modern Sewing Co. #mssundaytrackies and #msribsweater The fabric was deadstock French Terry and it doesn’t have much recovery and the loops on the back unravel at the cut edge. (Think old school French Terry 😬) I fixed the bottoms. They were thrown onto a fix/save pile ages ago. For some reason this was the project I decided to tackle. I put a new waistband on and tapered the side seams to my preference. I’m quite pleased. When I was cutting this amazing @seeyouatsixfabric tiger French terry from @weftandwarpfabrics for another #msribsweater I realised I could JUST squeeze an extra sweater out for little man! Perfect twinning for our snow trip & to mark 9 months in and out today 🥰 Also love this @modern_sewing_co pattern. Have now made three with varying neck band widths. Fitting. Let’s face it we are all completely different shapes. For years I avoided really thinking about fitting by making only dresses and skirts. But for the last year it’s been trousers. So… I am just getting my head around this fitting malarkey properly and now enjoying the process. I’m on a roll of making things I actually like and think I will wear a lot! Sometimes it’s the other way around. This set is from a company that is new to me the @Modern_Sewing_Co and I really love it. It’s the #MSSundayTrackies and #MSRibSweater I had seen ads on Insta for ‘Airport clothing’ and this is what got me started on all these knit items. This is a cotton mix jersey from deep in my stash. And the stripe is rib fabric, which as the pattern name implies is essential for this #RibTop. I got this rib ages ago from @maeve_sews closing down sale! This top is a little different to the normal sweatshirt or long-sleeve T in that the sleeves are shaped and voluminous and the top is generous around the waistline. Even using rib fabric I needed to stretch it to its limit to make it fit. I love the result. I was between two sizes for the top and I sized up; and for the #SundayTrackies I sized up from the hip down. I wanted this set to be loose and generous. I’ve included a pic here of the cream ones I made with the top tucked in to show the lovely fit around the tum. Very satisfying even if I will probably always wear a top outside. The instructions are extensive and extremely clear and well explained. There is plenty of information for someone new to sewing knits that would be very helpful. However, a beginner might find adding the rib to the top tricky. On the AOs of these patterns I got printed, the size lines are included on the actual pattern pieces but not the size numbers. I found this confusing. There are plenty of size guides printed on the spare paper, but I tend to throw the spare paper out. I had to go rummaging in the bin to see what size I had used. It would be great if these patterns went up another couple of sizes. The Sunday Trackies go up to size 28: W45.2, H54.7. Going into 2023, I feel more focused in many areas of my life, and that includes my plans for sewing my #memade wardrobe. I'm looking forward to sewing items that I know will wear and that will also challenge me to grow in my craft. I’m so pleased I finished my loungewear set from @modern_sewing_co just in time for the first frosts of the year. The top is the #msribsweater. It’s a lovely shape with sleeves that gather into a really deep cuff. I chose the high neck version because I’m always cold! The joggers are the #sundaytrackies. They are a looser fit for maximum comfort. I really like the ankle cuff detail. The fabric is a fabulous soft fleece from @newcrafthouse with organic ribbing from @fabricgodmother I made a straight size 8 in both garments - my measurements put me between an 8 and a 10. I’m also wearing hand knitted socks - I went through a phase of knitting socks a few years ago and I find them so warm-especially when my husband turns the heating off 🥶I need to start knitting more I think! If you're looking to sew a Christmas present or two this year the Rib Sweater is a nice option. This is one of our entry level patterns which comes with 2 options for neck ribs as well as matching trackies (if you want to make a full jersey two piece). The roomy shape means you can't go too far wrong with guessing sizing for someone else and I recommend giving your jersey not one but TWO pre-washes to get every last bit of shrinkage out of it. This is our easiest piece to sew and such a useful item for your wardrobe so it's top of the list for gift ideas!

I've spent the last week in my home town in the Czech Republic visiting my parents. I wasn't working and ended up having a bit too much time on my hands. Naturally, other than binge watching Wednesday on Netflix, I went shopping to a local fabric store, dug out my mum's old sewing machine and decided to give it a whirl. The sewing machine is pretty standard domestic one, just over 20 years old. It has all key functionalities, most of which were never used lol e.g over locker. It took a while to figure everything out, but then I was soooo surprised by how well it worked. This jumper is one of the three things I made for my mum this week. It's the #msribsweater by @modern_sewing_co. As always, the pattern is an immediate wardrobe staple. I used some kind of stretch jersey, but probably a bit lighter than the one that is recommended. I also didn't find any rib fabric in the fabric store and so I used the same fabric for the neck and cuffs. The two modifications I made were: 1, I made the neck 'hole' bigger by approx 2cm all around 2, then I adjusted the bottom hem to cropped at the front and longer at the back and finished it by folded hem. Made a cosy set to snuggle up in during these dark evenings! The top is another #msribsweater by @modern_sewing_co, and the pants are #closetcoreplateau joggers, by @closetcorepatterns all made in a super cosy fur-backed sweatshirt fabric from @minervadotcom (swipe to the last picture to get a better idea of the colour) I lengthened the rise of the joggers by approx 2cm so that the waistband fitted on my natural waist.
