The combination of Me Made May and choosing to work more in the office made some holes in my wardrobe abundantly clear. My uniform for work is a sweater and pants, and while my sweaters were getting by in Zoom, they were too ratty for the office and needed replacing. Pattern 1: #junipercardigan by @jenniferlaurenhandmade I’ve made this before, but this time, I narrowed the shoulders a schooch and added buttons down the whole length. Immediately upon completing, I kicked myself for not doing this sooner. This is my perfect office sweater. Ignore what looks like wrinkles around the buttonband. It just needs a little steaming. Fabric 1: black Italian wool jersey from @moodfabrics When you buy in person at Mood, that’s as much info as you get. It’s a beautiful wool jersey, reminiscent of some of my nicer Icebreaker items. Pattern 2: #driftlesscardigan by @grainlinestudio A new-to-me pattern that I like quite a lot. I could have sized down in this lightweight drapey wool. I left off the buttons, given the ease. The sleeves are slim, which I like, but wouldn’t size those down (it’s easy to mix and match sizes here because it is a drop shoulder). I added 1.5” in the body, which I sort of regret, and 2” in the sleeves, which I do not. This would have been a quick sew, if I did not feel the need to redo every imperfect seam. Fabric 2: another wool jersey from Mood. This one is 96% wool 4% unintelligible from Kaufman Franco. It’s is a gorgeous, very fine wool. Because it is so lightweight, I added fusible stay tape is a few spots, including around the pockets. Despite its light weight, it feels quite cozy, especially with the extra long sleeves. Used scraps from my most recent button up to make this tank. Lining back is pieced and lining front is a scrap of similar fabric. Unfortunately not everything turns out a success. You can’t tell from a still pic but if I move around, it’s tight across the chest. I’ve made this twice before and the last was also tencel and had the same problem but I thought it was because I changed the back. Cardigan Pattern: #driftlesscardigan from @grainlinestudio which I had on my sewing wish list for a while. Great pattern, but oh so many band pieces 🙃 Fit: Made in size 8 without any changes. Materials: Made in a lovely 50/50 merino/tencel boiled wool from @theclothshopivanhoe, called Aprés in "harvest" colour. This material feels like an inbetween boucle and supple boiled wool. I actually went ahead and washed it and tumble dried before using it. I used wool detergent and a gentle wash cycle. I didn't notice any significant shrinkage and was happy with my choice to prewash. Notes: I deviated from the instructions as I did not have the patience to hand sew the bands. It certainly came at a cost of neat corners, but I was happy to accept that imperfection. Me Made May, Days 4-6: I’ve worn me mades every day, but not great at photographing. I’m taking photos when I pass a mirror, so you get bathrooms and coffee cups. Day 4: #blommatank with RTW crops and jacket. This gets worn A LOT in warmer weather. I sized up 2 sizes and made it longer. This rib knit from @pdxsewingstudio is one of the best knits I’ve ever bought. Day 5: #freerangeslacks in a denim-look wool blend with RTW top and a #driftlesscardigan in a beautiful wool jersey from @moodfabrics (2024 trip) Day 6: NEW #closetcoreonyx pants in a super nice Italian ponte from @moodfabrics (2025 trip). It doesn’t bag out and has a slight irregular horizontal texture to it. I can see more Onyx pants in my future - you can stuff them in a pannier and they look great and are very comfy. The vertical topstitching, which you can’t see at all in my photo, elevates these. This is another incarnation of #kwiksew4028 #k4028. This time I used a reasonably thick cotton jersey from #stoffandstil in an "army green". It's quite a neutral colour so I'm hoping it will pair with quite a few things. Also pictured a #grainlinestudiodriftlesscardigan and RTW trousers. K4028 actually has a cowl neckline, but I gave that a miss with this thick jersey and made a simple crew neck.

Pretty pink #grainlinedriftlesscardigan. . . . All it needed was a line a stitching to secure the button band 🤦🏾‍♀️ Had been in the naughty bag for ages. Like literally more than a year. It wasn’t fun to do. I had to unpick some wonky parts but a couple do-overs and it’s done and useful. . . This mystery knit is pretty but a shifty bitch to sew. I think this was another Paron find from that Sew Weekly meetup. When they had those catch all bins. This was probably $1 for 17 yards or something lol. I also had it in white and I seem to recall gray???. I made a tshirt with the white that pilled like crazy. So this beauty is not long for the world. But, @jen_beeman my younger daughter was dead impressed with this lol.
