These pattern weights have really fancied up my cutting. I previously used jars of buttons, tailors clapper, phone, scissors, you know whatever was near by. Pattern weights! Using weights instead of pinning can speed up your cutting and preserve delicate fabrics. I thought the free pattern from @grainlinestudio was so adorable I decided to give it a go, stash busting some fabric from @gather_here. I tried to make 8, ended with 5, as the pattern was more fiddly than I anticipated. One I trimmed too close to the seam and the other two had stem malfunctions. I filled them with the same fill recommended in the pattern. In the end I’m pretty pleased! I made a home for my @grainlinestudio #grainlinepatternweights . It’s #apexpouch by @incompletestitches , size small with drawstrings and snap/loop pockets this time. As the outer fabric I used denim: both recyclyed and scraps from earlier jeans projects. The drawstring casing is lighter weight than the other pieces. The orange details and the snap loops are recycled from my old @camper sandals. I can now reveal what I used the glass beads for...filling pattern weights. I made these for a friend’s birthday and also made a bag to keep them in (➡️photo 2). I don’t usually like to post projects that are gifts but I wanted to share these #grainlinepatternweights that I recently made for a friend. I have been planning to make some kind of pattern weights for quite many years already, but haven’t gotten around to it. So finally! This @grainlinestudio pattern is super cute and makes a lovely scrap busting project, too. I made the loops with leftover snippets of bias binding and used scraps of different fusible interfacings as well, so it was scarp busting all the way.
