1… 2… 3 @truebias Mini Nova Jumpsuits!!! ❤️ This was a really sweet pattern to make. The girls loved choosing their fabric from @minervadotcom I found the instructions really clear & easy to follow. The only thing I slightly disliked was the centre front seam on the bodice, which meant I had to consider pattern matching (I didn’t fully visualise this for the 1st one I made - short green - but I think it looks ok!) Also, the size range stops age 10 so it’s pretty snug on my oldest girl. In retrospect, I should have lengthened the bodice for her. This ultra comfy jumpsuit is one of my favorite things to wear now! I made it back in May and had to take some time to make fit adjustments and fix some thread tension issues. I'm still figuring out the ins and outs of sewing with stretchy fabric. So nice I made it twice! I made this @truebias #novajumpsuit with gorgeous organic cotton hemp jersey from @saltlakesewciety. I love the fun cinnamon color. Details: I opted to make a drawstring and just cut a 2 in strip and folded it over into fourths. I added a half in to the bodice and to the rise and raised the neckline 1/2 in higher than drafted. I wondered if the shorts would be too short so I cut them out 2 in longer than the pattern but ended up cutting off those two inches and going with the original inseam for the shorts in the pattern. I’m happy with how it turned out! #truebiasnovajumpsuit

Ok I rarely post here. I’m totally more of an IG lurker than user. But I want to share a few things! Last night, I got really lucky at the @ottawagarmentguild meeting and scored this #novajumpsuit made by @kalliesews ! It was last meeting of the season and there was a handmade swap/give away. I didn’t want to take anything since I didn’t bring anything and who knows what will fit in a few months. This jumpsuit however is perfect for now and later! I had been eyeing a RTW one like this by Smash and Tess but as a sewist, I kept telling myself “I can make one…” then never got around to it. So big thank you for the jumpsuit! I was excited to wear it this morning for the walk to daycare and “styled it” (style isn’t the most accurate word during this season of my life) with my #bestiebag and a thrifted men’s jacket that I shortened the sleeve. The Bestie bag has been a real MVP in my life lately. The toddler usually wants to walk or bike to Garderie but then gets tired so I stuff in there a ringsling, a water bottle, a snack, and probably a hat, shoes or sunscreen. The denim fabric I used has literally been in my stash for 30 years. I was a kid when I started keeping pieces of fabric in an old suitcase and used the small pieces for my Barbie clothes. The zipper is from my grandmothers stash that I inherited as the only sewist in the family. It doesn’t glide that well but I still love it. I need a bigger one though, and it’s likely to need to hold even more soon. Sewing is the coolest hobby. #ottawasews

Last day #memademay2025. I don’t think I’ve worn the same outfit twice, and I think I could continue for another month at least. However, it’s been great finding new combos and wearing items often overlooked. Also, being able to wear a few old makes I’d ’grown out of’ again 🤣. That’s very pleasing. Today is a #novajumpsuit @truebias that I tie dyed after an unfortunate bleach incident. Then there’s been purple trousers made from a sarong I bought in Myanmar 30 years ago with a #gilbertshirt, #freerangeslacks in another sarong length but this time a gift from my son a couple of years ago. However, I have started buying fabric second hand and repurposing garments as well as shopping deadstock. A new fit! I had a lot of fun sewing the Nova Jumpsuit from @truebias along with my friends @edmistoncreations and @dreareneeknits (check out their grids for their gorgeous versions)! I used a beautiful cotton jersey fabric from @iseefabric which has a lovely softness and drape making the finished jumpsuit super comfy. I wanted to share more about the details of the size I made and my own body measurements in case that is helpful to anyone else considering making this (and you totally should)! I also made a few mods (some unintentionally)! So looking at the sizes for this and the intended ease I opted to grade between size 12 at the hips and 10 at the chest. My own bust measurement is 38 inches and the finished measurement for size 10 in that area is 39.5 inches. My hips are around 41 inches so that gave me about 5 inches of positive ease in that area. I didn’t change length in legs at all and like where the elastic ankle hits on me (I’m 5’4”) I also knew that I would need to shorten the neck drop as things tend to sit too low on me in that area of my body so all I did was choose the size 4 height for the shoulder straps. As it turned out I messed up the shoulder join area which meant having to chop off a bit more in that area. However I am happy with the result!  I did have some frustrations with fabric getting sucked into the hole at the start of sewing a seam but @edmistoncreations came to the rescue with another hand dandy tip for dealing with that by using a leader fabric to get started sewing. Bit of a eureka moment for me! I love that everything I sew brings me a new experience and adds to the skill set! Like Alisha and Andrea I had to see what this looked like paired with a knit (even though it is going to be 97 degrees here today). A couple of months ago, I bought an iPad and Apple Pencil because I wanted to get back into drawing. As a kid, I drew all the time. I’d tried digital tablets before, but they never quite worked for me—until now. The Apple Pencil is a game-changer! Using Procreate, I doodled some cute lemons and turned them into a seamless pattern. I had it printed on jersey fabric through Tiska, a custom fabric printing company. Opening that package with my own design on fabric? Truly the best feeling! I quickly turned it into a jumpsuit for my daughter using the Mini Nova pattern from True Bias (with a few tweaks). Since getting the iPad, I’ve been drawing almost every day—both digitally and on paper. In the last couple of weeks I have made 2 #truebiasnovajumpsuit. In the need for something light and breezy for the summer months. They are both made in cotton lycra jersey from @sarahsimplelifeuk. She has the most lovely collection of fabrics! The first one I made was the navy one with ditsy white flowers. I didn't have enough elastic for the ankle cuffs so just did a fold over hem and I think it looks a bit more smart. The second one is in the fab blue pink and purple animal print. I had enough elastic for ankle cuffs this time around and I think it gives a much more relaxed vibe. Accessorized with a @HairOfTheDog.Scrunchies pink silk scrunchie because I have massage therapy today. I’m including the Stompin’ Tom Connors song on this post because if I were to illustrate a children’s book, I’d love to do one based on this song, which is a fave of mine and my son used to beg me to sing a bunch when he was little. Here’s a knit fabric mashup I’ve been wanting to conquer for awhile that I finally created! It’s got the top (and built in shelf bra) of the @truebias #novajumpsuit with a flared bottom of @sewliberated #stasiadress I have always loved the way the top of the Nova Jumpsuit fit with its slightly relaxed drape, as opposed to the Stasia dress, which I also love, that’s more fitted. This feels so relaxed and in the summer I can get away without a bra, which is always a win. 😆 I love the swishiness of the Stasia skirt bottom. And of course, pockets. Happy making!

A merino pant Nova Jumpsuit has been on my mind for a while now, so I finally went for it. In my previous Nova, the shoulders are a bit loose and the bodice a bit long (short torso problems🤷‍♀️), so I tried to fix that by reducing the bodice a little bit and the shortening the shoulders. Well, I overcorrected a bit and now the look is a tad “Legs-Go-All-The-Way-Up-Griffin” from Family Guy😅, and I didn’t think to consider how the leg length would be shorter if the whole thing was pulled upwards, so it’s a bit bum-hungry and I had to do a small hem rather than the elasticated ankles. Oh well, FAFO, right? Regardless, it’s comfy as heck, I love the colour, and I will be wearing it in and out of the house, as per the label. Nova Jumpsuit! I really love this one! It is so comfortable, the directions were very clear, and it was a nice and easy make! I made a size 4 based on the finished garment size. The only thing I wish that I would have done differently is raise the front neckline. It’s too low for my comfort level, so I have to wear a tank top underneath now. That’s my own fault. We have Canadian wildfire smoke haze here today…it’s pretty bad, so not the best for pictures. Time to feature my finished #novajumpsuit by @truebias Y’all, I’ve been living in this lately. It’s so cozy and easy to wear. I made a size 10 but may go for a size 8 next time. I made mine cropped simply because I ran out of fabric. I used a sweatshirt knit that I bought about 6 years ago and finally found what to use it for. I ended up taking the elastic out of both the waist and the legs because sensory wise; I’m cozier without. I’m all for wearing secret pajamas and these definitely fit the bill. It’s another Nova Jumpsuit by TrueBias! It’s perfect for this crummy rainy day weather we are having. I am planning on curling up and this is the perfect outfit to do so in! Details on the Sew: Knit is getting easier to sew as I keep at it! Less of my machine eating my fabric and more control! I know this isn't a new pattern, and I know I'm probably too late to the romper-party, but gosh darn it, this is comfortable! My only complaint is that I wished I would have made this romper sooner, because this feels like an I-can-live-in-this-all-summer kind of outfit! The pattern is the @truebias Nova Jumpsuit in delightfully soft bamboo jersey deadstock from @oursocialfabric The Mods (there are a few!): ✂️ The pattern indicated there is a lot of ease, and my fabric had more than 29% stretch, so I sized down in the bust and hips, but kept the waist as measured (cut 8 bust, 8 waist, 6 hips) and I was happy with it for this fabric ✂️ I lengthened the bodice by 1.5", but it still sits just above my natural waist. So next time, I will probably lengthen by 2" or 2.5" ✂️ I lowered the armscye by 0.75". It's okay, but I can probably get away with only 0.25" - 0.5". ✂️ I also lengthened the bottom (above the crotch). I won't do this next time. This fabric has enough drape that the lower crotch doesn't bother me that much, but next time I will just lengthen the leg length. ✂️ I increased the front neckline (thank goodness!!) but left the back the same. ✂️ I added a draw string instead of elastic. Full disclosure, I tried elastic first, but the only piece I had in my stash was juuuust long enough, and it felt too tight on me. So I changed course and did a bit of finagling to add the drawstring. Honestly, I think I will do a drawstring for all future versions of this jumpsuit! If I eat too much chocolate the night before, I want to be able to ease off on the waist control! 😅 I wore it out and about today, and it was really comfortable! Love a new jumpsuit! This is the @truebias nova jumpsuit which I finished several weeks ago and have worn regularly since. I used a lovely organic cotton jersey from @mademywardrobe (probably the best quality jersey I’ve come across btw, soft, thick and washes brilliantly). When I first finished it I was worried I’d picked the wrong fabric for this pattern as it seemed a bit too structured. After several washes and wears though, I’ve changed my mind and I now love the way it hangs. I could *maybe * stand to go down a size or reduce the amount of length I added to the bodice as it’s a little loose on the shoulders. It’s a very minor gripe though. This is maybe the comfiest jumpsuit ever! It’s the @truebias Nova, which is made from jersey and can either be cinched in with elastic or left loose. It has impact but is so soft and gentle to wear. 🍊 First Nova jumpsuit by @truebias 🍊 Photos taken after dentist/shopping trip in the car, so I can attest that it’s fun to wear out and about. I’m also wearing another first - Le Sac Banane by @atelierbrunette - honestly didn’t plan it but they go so well together! I made a playsuit length toile before the 🍊 version which taught me I didn’t need to add length in the bodice and rises as well as grading out from waist to hip by two sizes. The Nova sews up to be perhaps more generous than it looks on the pattern cover. For this full length version I scaled back on my previous length alterations by half. When I first put it on it was still too low in the rise and roomy around the hips. I ended up taking it up at the inseam by 1” and in at the side seams by about 1.5cm. I’ve transferred those onto my pattern pieces for next time. In hindsight, I’d have made no length adjustments and graded out by just one size at the hip. Tricky with a jumpsuit though as it’s hard to fix if the body is too short and it’s only got a 1cm seam allowance to play with. All this detail perhaps gives a false impression that it was troublesome or I’m not happy with it but the reverse is true. I found Nova a fun sew and love the finished garment now I’ve tweaked it. It looks quite put together yet feels like pjs. I’ve found myself wearing the playsuit toile version in the garden whenever it’s been warm enough. I’m already fond of this pattern and planning another. I first made the True Bias Nova jumpsuit when I bought a kit from @guthrieghani however this time I decided to make the shorts version to make a playsuit. I picked a lovely soft duck egg blue striped jersey from @fabricsgalorelondon which worked really well with the pattern. The playsuit version, as well as the jumpsuit is so comfy to wear, and was great for a walk up to the top of the Malvern Hills on a sunny Sunday afternoon. What an AMAZING day @phoebe_wild and I had at @thestitchfestival on Saturday. There were so many hilarious moments and so much inspiration 💕 and we are now plotting how we can get @starttostitch and our #secretsewingclub up there next year :) I have been beavering away on this business almost solo since 2014 when I started teaching in a village hall to six people one or two evenings a week. It’s felt at times quite lonely but this amazing community of inspiring businesses has helped me feel connected and part of a positive movement of sewing happiness even from my distant corner of Cornwall! So it was beyond lovely to meet some of my faves in person @sistermintaka and @little.rosy.cheeks and to make some new friends @bornellafabrics and @cricutinspire @sheepers too! My first Nova Jumpsuit by @truebias !! Made in the most fun and bold organic cotton jersey from @neridahansenfabrics The design is Gardens Native Hibiscus by Marni Stuart. I squeezed this out of left over fabric from a previous Nikko Dress. I was short on fabric, so used a very soft black rayon modal t-shirt jersey from @stonemountainfabric for the bodice lining. Deets: Long version with elastic (view B), size 0. I removed 3” in length (1” at each of the three lines). I also removed 1.5” (3/4” per piece) from the shoulders based on others’ projects. Huge mistake! It was so short, I couldn’t match the shoulder seams. I ended up cutting and sewing (lined) pieces to add that length back in. It worked great, and the extra seams are barely noticeable. It’s a little tight in the torso, so next time I’ll keep more length there. Otherwise very happy with the fit. Love love it. Batch sewing feels a bit like magic to me sometimes. I've been sewing up these three Nova Jumpsuits this week as part of my MeMadeMay pledge and summer wardrobe. They are coming together so fast. Because the Nova can mostly be sewn up on a serger I've been able to sew them all on the same machine without changing thread so far. Made this mini Nova Jumpsuit for #1 just before Halloween and then a few months went by and we never put it on him because my husband - rightly - protested that he’d have issues getting it off for the potty (especially in public restrooms!). This is the second time making Nova Jumpsuit from True Bias. The first time I made it, I shortened through the legs 3" (1.5" above the knee and 1.5" below the knee) and shortened 1" through the bodice above the waist. In that version, I found the neckline too low (or the straps too long for me) and the elastic waist placement too high. This time I added back the 1" I shortened through the bodice above the waist and shortened 1" through the straps. I also didn't make the elastic waist nor the elastic at the ankles and I decided to bind the neckline and armholes instead of using the bodice lining. I ended up with a loose-through-the-waist straight-leg jumpsuit -- exactly what I wanted! And I used bamboo french terry which makes this jumpsuit super cozy... Summ summ 🐝 🇬🇧 below Eines meiner Todo‘s vor dem Urlaub in Bella Italia habe ich heute beendet. Lange lag der Nova Jumpsuit auf meiner Festplatte und war auch schon in Größe 6(🤣) zugeschnitten. Ich bin ehrlich, mittlerweile bin ich nicht mehr so schmal, aber passt trotzdem supi! Der Modal ist sehr weich und luftig. Dieses Mal habe ich mich für lange Hosenbeine entschieden, ein bisschen Abwechslung muss sein. Wobei den Nova Jumper kann man auch mit kurzen Beinen nähen. Ich habe Variante B genäht, also mit langen Beinen und mit eingezogenem Gummi. Auch eine echte Empfehlung ist der „Grashüpfer“ von @lotteundludwig. Den habe ich mir in der größten Größe für Kinder aus Jersey genäht und das Oberteil etwas verlängert. 🇬🇧 buzz buzz 🐝 I finished one of my todo's before the vacation in Bella Italia today. Do you remember going out with friends and having to ask one of them to form a shield so you could take care of a wedgie? 🫣 Or maybe that was just me?? 🥸 Regardless, I’m so glad those days are looong gone.👏🏼 Since I carry more of my “hip” volume towards the back, wedgies were unfortunately, pretty common for me in RTW clothes. Although my hip measurement is two sizes larger than my waist, my side shape is actually pretty flat. So, if I grade out too much on the sides, I end up with hip wings. 🕊🙅🏻‍♀️ Through a lot of testing, I’ve found that when I make bottoms, I have to add in a back crotch extension before just grading the hips. Even though I’m two sizes larger, many times I can grade out one size in the hip, and add in a 1/2 - 5/8” extension. This allows me to raise my arms without issues in a romper/jumpsuit and then I don’t have an uncomfortable cut up the middle with pants. 😳 This took me several pairs of pants to figure out and I hope this helps with your fitting adventures! 🧡 Last picture shows orange pant line at size 10 (I measured 8 on top and 12 in the hip.) Following falling in love with the jumpsuit worn by @littlemisssewnsew2017 in her Friday video last week I treated myself to an all set to sew version. This is my very wearable version A toile of the #novajumpsuit by @truebias patterns before I cut in to my special fabric. I made a graded size 0 to size 2 at the hips. 🍊 First Nova jumpsuit by @truebias 🍊 Photos taken after dentist/shopping trip in the car, so I can attest that it’s fun to wear out and about. I’m also wearing another first - Le Sac Banane by @atelierbrunette - honestly didn’t plan it but they go so well together! I made a playsuit length toile before the 🍊 version which taught me I didn’t need to add length in the bodice and rises as well as grading out from waist to hip by two sizes. The Nova sews up to be perhaps more generous than it looks on the pattern cover. For this full length version I scaled back on my previous length alterations by half. When I first put it on it was still too low in the rise and roomy around the hips. I ended up taking it up at the inseam by 1” and in at the side seams by about 1.5cm. I’ve transferred those onto my pattern pieces for next time. In hindsight, I’d have made no length adjustments and graded out by just one size at the hip. Tricky with a jumpsuit though as it’s hard to fix if the body is too short and it’s only got a 1cm seam allowance to play with. All this detail perhaps gives a false impression that it was troublesome or I’m not happy with it but the reverse is true. I found Nova a fun sew and love the finished garment now I’ve tweaked it. It looks quite put together yet feels like pjs. I’ve found myself wearing the playsuit toile version in the garden whenever it’s been warm enough. I’m already fond of this pattern and planning another. What an AMAZING day @phoebe_wild and I had at @thestitchfestival on Saturday. There were so many hilarious moments and so much inspiration 💕 and we are now plotting how we can get @starttostitch and our #secretsewingclub up there next year :) I have been beavering away on this business almost solo since 2014 when I started teaching in a village hall to six people one or two evenings a week. It’s felt at times quite lonely but this amazing community of inspiring businesses has helped me feel connected and part of a positive movement of sewing happiness even from my distant corner of Cornwall! So it was beyond lovely to meet some of my faves in person @sistermintaka and @little.rosy.cheeks and to make some new friends @bornellafabrics and @cricutinspire @sheepers too! I first made the True Bias Nova jumpsuit when I bought a kit from @guthrieghani however this time I decided to make the shorts version to make a playsuit. I picked a lovely soft duck egg blue striped jersey from @fabricsgalorelondon which worked really well with the pattern. The playsuit version, as well as the jumpsuit is so comfy to wear, and was great for a walk up to the top of the Malvern Hills on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Mega comfort incoming! This came together so quickly and quite a pleasing make. Its a thicker jersey than maybe I should have used, it'll make layering as it gets colder trickier 😅 but as soon as I saw the fabric online I knew it had to be a nova jumpsuit! Made this mini Nova Jumpsuit for #1 just before Halloween and then a few months went by and we never put it on him because my husband - rightly - protested that he’d have issues getting it off for the potty (especially in public restrooms!). We put sleeves on under the jumpsuit so he wouldn’t be fully undressing every time. But he loves it and it’s cute as hell and it glows in the dark! Anyway jumpsuits aren’t for mostly potty trained toddlers I guess. My first Nova Jumpsuit by @truebias !! Made in the most fun and bold organic cotton jersey from @neridahansenfabrics The design is Gardens Native Hibiscus by Marni Stuart. I squeezed this out of left over fabric from a previous Nikko Dress. I was short on fabric, so used a very soft black rayon modal t-shirt jersey from @stonemountainfabric for the bodice lining. Deets: Long version with elastic (view B), size 0. I removed 3” in length (1” at each of the three lines). I also removed 1.5” (3/4” per piece) from the shoulders based on others’ projects. Huge mistake! It was so short, I couldn’t match the shoulder seams. I ended up cutting and sewing (lined) pieces to add that length back in. It worked great, and the extra seams are barely noticeable. It’s a little tight in the torso, so next time I’ll keep more length there. Otherwise very happy with the fit. Love love it. Hanging on to summer here in a comfy jumpsuit! We got smacked with a head cold last week after my little bro’s (amazing!!) wedding; and I got it the worst. I was pretty run down as it was so it makes sense, but I felt a bit discouraged bc it made me feel like I’m going backwards. Which, Marcus reminded me, I’m not. People get colds. I have a history of somewhat compromised immunity (possibly connected to my body’s inflammatory response to endometriosis), and over the past 1.5 years I’ve made some significant dietary changes, which have helped dramatically. This summer I started experimenting with re-introducing various food groups and it’s been interesting. So far it seems like non-fermented gluten (ie. anything but sourdough), too much sugar, and not-enough probiotic content are the biggest culprits re: less-overall-health (exhaustion, cramping, GI discomfort, nausea, and, I think, susceptibility to and severity of illnesses!). I also find limiting dairy helpful. So good to be getting to the bottom of things bit by bit, even if the trial and (😬😬) error process sucks sometimes. . . . My foray into knits sewing continues with a Nova Jumpsuit in a ponte knit from Abakhan! I did version D with no elastic waist, and aside from fiddling the cuffs and doing bound neckline and arms I didn’t make any changes! I thought the ponte was too heavy for the facing. SO comfy! I think it will take a good 80s belt and a shirt under to be Business PJs as intended but I’m definitely going to make more in other lighter knits as I get more confident. This is maybe the comfiest jumpsuit ever! It’s the @truebias Nova, which is made from jersey and can either be cinched in with elastic or left loose. It has impact but is so soft and gentle to wear. Love a new jumpsuit! This is the @truebias nova jumpsuit which I finished several weeks ago and have worn regularly since. I used a lovely organic cotton jersey from @mademywardrobe (probably the best quality jersey I’ve come across btw, soft, thick and washes brilliantly). When I first finished it I was worried I’d picked the wrong fabric for this pattern as it seemed a bit too structured. After several washes and wears though, I’ve changed my mind and I now love the way it hangs. I could *maybe * stand to go down a size or reduce the amount of length I added to the bodice as it’s a little loose on the shoulders. It’s a very minor gripe though. Batch sewing feels a bit like magic to me sometimes. I've been sewing up these three Nova Jumpsuits this week as part of my MeMadeMay pledge and summer wardrobe. They are coming together so fast. Because the Nova can mostly be sewn up on a serger I've been able to sew them all on the same machine without changing thread so far. I made a jumpsuit in black, stretchy fabric a while ago that I wear all the time. That version was a self draft because it was the end of the month and I was impoverished but I had wrestled with the idea of buying the #truebias #truebiasnovajumpsuit and more recently I thought it would be good to have a second one and decided to buy the pattern. The fabric is a cotton jersey from #raystitch it’s not so easy to see in the photos but it has lots of little coloured dots kind of piled into the fabric. It’s a fairly narrow fabric (I want to say 130 but I might be making that up) and the pattern is fairly hungry, I’d had a metre and a half in my stash for years and actually the trigger for this project was visiting Raystitch for a course and buying another metre. I was between three sizes (W4 B6 H10) but figured since I was going to make view B with the elasticated waist I could ignore the waist measurement and make a 6 graded to a 10. I left out the elastic at the ankles, just to give them a different look to my last pair. This is an easy and quick pattern to follow but I really didn’t like what I came out with. I’m not sure if it’s the fabric (it’s not particularly thick but it’s not the super skinny jersey you can get) or the grading but the hips were really bulky and the top is quite streamlined because it’s sleeveless, I looked like someone had transplanted two separate body parts together without putting a lot of thought into it. I cut about 3cm off the hip seams - tapering back in above and below - and cut down the pockets quite a lot then brought in the crotch seam. They feel much better now though the pockets are less functional (though big enough for my hands which is the only thing I use them for). So to conclude I’m not really sure I’d recommend this one but perhaps if I try it in a thinner jersey and stick to a 6 all over it’ll work out for me. Time to feature my finished #novajumpsuit by @truebias Y’all, I’ve been living in this lately. It’s so cozy and easy to wear. I made a size 10 but may go for a size 8 next time. I made mine cropped simply because I ran out of fabric. I used a sweatshirt knit that I bought about 6 years ago and finally found what to use it for. I ended up taking the elastic out of both the waist and the legs because sensory wise; I’m cozier without. I’m all for wearing secret pajamas and these definitely fit the bill. Its a thicker jersey than maybe I should have used, it'll make layering as it gets colder trickier 😅 but as soon as I saw the fabric online I knew it had to be a nova jumpsuit! Nova Jumpsuit! I really love this one! It is so comfortable, the directions were very clear, and it was a nice and easy make! I made a size 4 based on the finished garment size. The only thing I wish that I would have done differently is raise the front neckline. It’s too low for my comfort level, so I have to wear a tank top underneath now. That’s my own fault. We have Canadian wildfire smoke haze here today…it’s pretty bad, so not the best for pictures. In the last couple of weeks I have made 2 #truebiasnovajumpsuit. In the need for something light and breezy for the summer months. They are both made in cotton lycra jersey from @sarahsimplelifeuk. She has the most lovely collection of fabrics! The first one I made was the navy one with ditsy white flowers. I didn't have enough elastic for the ankle cuffs so just did a fold over hem and I think it looks a bit more smart. The second one is in the fab blue pink and purple animal print. I had enough elastic for ankle cuffs this time around and I think it gives a much more relaxed vibe. After several washes and wears though, I’ve changed my mind and I now love the way it hangs. I could *maybe * stand to go down a size or reduce the amount of length I added to the bodice as it’s a little loose on the shoulders. It’s a very minor gripe though. My foray into knits sewing continues with a Nova Jumpsuit in a ponte knit from Abakhan! I did version D with no elastic waist, and aside from fiddling the cuffs and doing bound neckline and arms I didn’t make any changes! I thought the ponte was too heavy for the facing. SO comfy! I think it will take a good 80s belt and a shirt under to be Business PJs as intended but I’m definitely going to make more in other lighter knits as I get more confident. Do you remember going out with friends and having to ask one of them to form a shield so you could take care of a wedgie? 🫣 Or maybe that was just me?? 🥸 Regardless, I’m so glad those days are looong gone.👏🏼 Since I carry more of my “hip” volume towards the back, wedgies were unfortunately, pretty common for me in RTW clothes. Although my hip measurement is two sizes larger than my waist, my side shape is actually pretty flat. So, if I grade out too much on the sides, I end up with hip wings. 🕊🙅🏻‍♀️ Through a lot of testing, I’ve found that when I make bottoms, I have to add in a back crotch extension before just grading the hips. Even though I’m two sizes larger, many times I can grade out one size in the hip, and add in a 1/2 - 5/8” extension. This allows me to raise my arms without issues in a romper/jumpsuit and then I don’t have an uncomfortable cut up the middle with pants. 😳 This took me several pairs of pants to figure out and I hope this helps with your fitting adventures! 🧡 Last picture shows orange pant line at size 10 (I measured 8 on top and 12 in the hip.) 1… 2… 3 @truebias Mini Nova Jumpsuits!!! ❤️ This was a really sweet pattern to make. The girls loved choosing their fabric from @minervadotcom I found the instructions really clear & easy to follow. The only thing I slightly disliked was the centre front seam on the bodice, which meant I had to consider pattern matching (I didn’t fully visualise this for the 1st one I made - short green - but I think it looks ok!) Also, the size range stops age 10 so it’s pretty snug on my oldest girl. In retrospect, I should have lengthened the bodice for her. So nice I made it twice! I made this @truebias #novajumpsuit with gorgeous organic cotton hemp jersey from @saltlakesewciety. I love the fun cinnamon color. Details: I opted to make a drawstring and just cut a 2 in strip and folded it over into fourths. I added a half in to the bodice and to the rise and raised the neckline 1/2 in higher than drafted. I wondered if the shorts would be too short so I cut them out 2 in longer than the pattern but ended up cutting off those two inches and going with the original inseam for the shorts in the pattern. I’m happy with how it turned out! #truebiasnovajumpsuit

I know this isn't a new pattern, and I know I'm probably too late to the romper-party, but gosh darn it, this is comfortable! My only complaint is that I wished I would have made this romper sooner, because this feels like an I-can-live-in-this-all-summer kind of outfit! The pattern is the @truebias Nova Jumpsuit in delightfully soft bamboo jersey deadstock from @oursocialfabric The Mods (there are a few!): ✂️ The pattern indicated there is a lot of ease, and my fabric had more than 29% stretch, so I sized down in the bust and hips, but kept the waist as measured (cut 8 bust, 8 waist, 6 hips) and I was happy with it for this fabric ✂️ I lengthened the bodice by 1.5", but it still sits just above my natural waist. So next time, I will probably lengthen by 2" or 2.5" ✂️ I lowered the armscye by 0.75". It's okay, but I can probably get away with only 0.25" - 0.5". ✂️ I also lengthened the bottom (above the crotch). I won't do this next time. This fabric has enough drape that the lower crotch doesn't bother me that much, but next time I will just lengthen the leg length. ✂️ I increased the front neckline (thank goodness!!) but left the back the same. ✂️ I added a draw string instead of elastic. Full disclosure, I tried elastic first, but the only piece I had in my stash was juuuust long enough, and it felt too tight on me. So I changed course and did a bit of finagling to add the drawstring. Honestly, I think I will do a drawstring for all future versions of this jumpsuit! If I eat too much chocolate the night before, I want to be able to ease off on the waist control! 😅 I wore it out and about today, and it was really comfortable! This is the second time making Nova Jumpsuit from True Bias. The first time I made it, I shortened through the legs 3" (1.5" above the knee and 1.5" below the knee) and shortened 1" through the bodice above the waist. In that version, I found the neckline too low (or the straps too long for me) and the elastic waist placement too high. This time I added back the 1" I shortened through the bodice above the waist and shortened 1" through the straps. I also didn't make the elastic waist nor the elastic at the ankles and I decided to bind the neckline and armholes instead of using the bodice lining. I ended up with a loose-through-the-waist straight-leg jumpsuit -- exactly what I wanted! And I used bamboo french terry which makes this jumpsuit super cozy... Summ summ 🐝 🇬🇧 below Eines meiner Todo‘s vor dem Urlaub in Bella Italia habe ich heute beendet. Lange lag der Nova Jumpsuit auf meiner Festplatte und war auch schon in Größe 6(🤣) zugeschnitten. Ich bin ehrlich, mittlerweile bin ich nicht mehr so schmal, aber passt trotzdem supi! Der Modal ist sehr weich und luftig. Dieses Mal habe ich mich für lange Hosenbeine entschieden, ein bisschen Abwechslung muss sein. Wobei den Nova Jumper kann man auch mit kurzen Beinen nähen. Ich habe Variante B genäht, also mit langen Beinen und mit eingezogenem Gummi. Auch eine echte Empfehlung ist der „Grashüpfer“ von @lotteundludwig. Den habe ich mir in der größten Größe für Kinder aus Jersey genäht und das Oberteil etwas verlängert. 🇬🇧 buzz buzz 🐝 I finished one of my todo's before the vacation in Bella Italia today. The Nova jumpsuit lay on my hard drive for a long time and was already cut to size 6(🤣). I'll be honest, I'm not that slim anymore, but it still fits great! The modal is very soft and airy. This time I opted for long trouser legs, a bit of variety is needed. The Nova Jumper can also be sewn with short legs. I sewed variant B, i.e. with long legs and with inserted elastic. Another real recommendation is the “grasshopper” by @lotteundludwig. I sewed it in the largest size for children from jersey and lengthened the top a bit.
