This is my pick up my new to me car outfit. @truebias patterns all around today. #truebiasroscoe top and my favorite pants in the world, #truebiaslanderpants. I got super fancy with this pair and made the pockets go inside instead of the instructions led outside patch pockets. The fit is perfect because I took the time with making muslins to make these pants perfectly mine. The pants fabric comes from @blendedthreadfabrics I used their woven cotton base for the green linen look pattern. The top is #cobracorsage by @ladymcelroyfabrics on a white background. Someday I am going to design a fabric equally beautiful and dynamic. 😍

Me Made May, day 6: book launch day! Some of you might know @florenceknapp_ from the old school days of sewing bloggers, and the early days of Instagram, when she went by Flossie Teacakes. I had the great fortune to befriend Florence on the internet, and then meet her in London in 2012. Swipe for some photos of our visit! Not a one is in focus because we were laughing too hard the whole dang time. 😂 Well Florence wrote a book that came out today, and to say this book is getting a lot of critical acclaim and international attention is a gross understatement. I pre-ordered my copy from my local bookstore, and with much glee went in today to pick it up! I cannot wait to read it! I’ve always been a bit intimidated by viscose—love the drape, not the handling—but I recently discovered the magic of starch, and it made the fabric so much easier to work with! Tired mirror selfie is the best this dress is going to get, I’ve worn it a couple times and it is so comfortable! I love it. This was my first time sewing with double gauze and it will not be my last. I lengthened the dress by about two inches and did the bias bindings by hand this time. Ask anyone in my family and they’ll say I say everything is my favorite. So when I say “that’s my favorite!” no one believes me. Continuing with my hacks of the @truebias Roscoe blouse, decided to try this one with a ladder lace trim down the button bands and on the sleeve cuffs. For this one instead of adding 1.5” to the centre fronts, I cut separate button bands and cut the front pieces double as opposed to on the fold. I raised the neckline by 1.5cm, again following the blog/tutorial on Tessuti patterns. I also shortened the sleeves, as I wanted a more summery blouse. I kept the same curve at the hem. The ladder lace is inserted between the seams, really simple to do, but I love the effect. Fabric is a beautiful viscose from @thefabricbeehive its a @lisetailor fabric

It was my birthday Saturday, and it just so happened to coincide with bestie @jenifer_lake’s annual sparkle party ✨ I sewed up a dress in gold metallic lace, and on Friday night at 6pm, decided I hated it lol. It was too frumpy and I couldn’t salvage it. So I pivoted. I had some gold metallic linen from @fabricoutlet on hand, which sparkles a lot more in real life than it does in a photo, and whipped up two TNT patterns that I knew I could make quickly and well: the @annaallenclothing Pomona pants and the @truebias Roscoe blouse. I made both as written, with a couple short cuts: I just serged all the seams instead of sewing first and serging after, I skipped the decorative topstitching on the crotch seam and inseam on the pants, and on the blouse I did an elastic casing at the sleeve hem instead of the binding, which was honestly more for preference anyway, as I knew I wanted to push the sleeves up. I had both done, aside from the hem on the blouse and the elastic in the sleeve hem by 11pm. This is the joy of a TNT pattern! With time to spare, like any sewer would, I figured I had time for more, so on Saturday morning, I hand sewed a scattering of shiny sequins to the blouse for some extra sparkle. ✨ I’m going to cut those sequins off and put both of these garments into my closet for regular rotation. I love them! I’ve been sewing a lot this spring! This is the #truebiasroscoe in a very rustic type cotton gauzy fabric from @moodfabrics . The Roscoe is really loose so I cut the smallest size . It looks best in my opinion ticked in . It feels too boxy tucked out for me . I used elastic on the arms because this fabric was so loose woven it was hard to gather it . This is a nice casual top pattern and easy to sew . I’d like to try it in another fabric soon! #sewaprilblouse25

Finished yesterday and couldn’t wait to wear it today, because I absolutely bloomin love this fabric. It’s a Nerida Hansen viscose from @lamazifabrics and the colours and print are devine 😍 Pattern is a hack of the @truebias Roscoe. I cut the front double and not on the fold. I added 1.5” to each centre front, to create the button placket. This was interfaced and folded twice at 5/8”. I also raised the neckline by 1.5cm. There is a blog on Tessuti patterns, showing exactly how to do it, which I followed, apart from I didn’t slash and spread the sleeves. I always size down for the Roscoe blouse, so beware this pattern comes up big.

Hot off the machine- #sewingproject #2 for #2023 is the @truebias #roscoedress in a simply gorgeous #rayon from @spotlightstores . Firstly- the pattern. This is only the second actual dress I’ve made from this pattern- I’ve made a few of the blouses. The first one I’d printed the pattern incorrectly so the scale was all off. So if required mega adjustments- so printed it again. This pattern is so simple and comes together so quickly. This one is the tunic length with 2 inches added. It’s a good dress to wear in winter too with tights and boots and works well with belts and long line cardigans or coats. Sized down to an 8 for this one as I very rarely wear such loose dresses and wanted a closer fit. But I plan to swan and float around in it 😀 Now to the fabric. This gorgeous rayon is from the amazing #artist Megan Nampijinpa Kantamarra and the print is called #marapintidreaming @spotlightstores do such great collabs with artists and we all benefit! Here it is . . . my #roscoedress by @truebias , made out of this gorgeous tencel linen fabric from @neridahansenfabrics. Love the statement print designed by @skinnylaminx ❤️❤️ Added a gathered skirt to the #roscoeblouse (shortened the length of the blouse) and used a contrasting plain black linen around the neckline and on the sleeves. Here I have teamed it with my RTW leather belt as I like a cinched in waist to show some shape. I did also make a plain black fabric tie belt to use for a more casual feel. From the first time I saw the Roscoe Dress from True Bias, I knew that I needed one. By May, I knew it would be my first day of school dress this year. I picked out a fabric for that…but let’s just say that plan went awry. I bought this dress with a different plan in mind, but then I realized that this fabric was meant to be a Roscoe. I like Roscoe well enough. I made a size 6 in view C without the ruffle. If, no, when I make another (it’s going to be black cotton double gauze) I’ll go down a size. This one is a bit roomy, but it works. However, the pattern doesn’t have any waist shaping, and I like waist shaping. So I cut the dress at my natural waist, sewed it back together, and put elastic in. It also doesn’t have pockets as written, but I need pockets. In fact, I actually didn’t put pockets in, but after two of my closest friends called me out on that, I opened up the side seams and put pockets in. I wore it for the first day of school last week, and it was fabulous. But I didn’t get pictures until today. It has already been well complimented in its two outings. Overall, I’m very happy with this dress. As I said, I’ll definitely be revisiting this pattern. I made it almost exactly as written but raised the front slit a little as with the other one I have I always feel slightly uncomfortable without a top underneath. It feels incredibly luxurious, lightweight and flowy but still with that slightly slubby, rustic finish. The perfect swishy mood booster! 💃 I’ve been in a rut the past few days and came home the other day knowing I needed a carefree and easy make, and this was just what I needed! Pattern: @truebias #RoscoeDress in a straight size 0 (based off my 32” chest measurement) in the mini dress/tunic view. My only mod was to add shirring at the waist for a bit of shaping. Fabric: viscose crepe in merlot from @blackbirdfabrics ✨this fabric is a freaking delight, it’s so soft and perfectly drapey and was very easy to sew with! I bought more in another color and can’t wait to sew with it! I added decorative stitching to the sleeve binding, and am now considering going back and adding it to the neckline too, it’s such a fun detail! The pattern came together in about 4 hours over two days. Next time I will cut the V neck a little higher as my bra peeks through underneath, I don’t have much of a bust so this might be why. 📽️ this pattern isn’t very projector friendly. The PDF isn’t layered, and all of the True Bias patterns are locked and pieces can’t be manipulated easily on Inkscape. I ended up tracing each piece on the computer in order to make it easier to sew with the projector. That added about an hour to the total making time (making it more like 5-6 hours total). Otherwise it’s a lovely pattern with clear instructions! I’ve been a bit slack with posting, so there will be some catch-ups coming along very soon. Here is another @truebias #roscoedress I made for DD2 a couple of weeks ago. I need to make the next one about another inch shorter in the bodice to sit where she wants it to, but this one is very much loved and has already been worn multiple times. I hacked the bodice to be about 3 inches shorter, made it short-sleeved and added the sleeve ruffle. The skirt tiers are 3 inches, 6 inches & 9inches wide. The bottom tier ended up with quite a deep hem, so as a result the bottom two look more similar. I made something that isn’t a bra- I desperately need to make some actual clothes so here is step one on that road. It’s a @truebias #roscoeblouse made from some very light and airy cheesecloth- hello 1970’s. No modifications to the pattern accept ditching the sleeve cuffs in favour of elastic and the centre front has a seam because I just didn’t have enough fabric to cut it in one piece. I LOVE this dress! Even though it’s totally not weather appropriate right now. And yes I had to stand in a wood to take these photos, and yes it was chilly. This pattern is the gorgeous #roscoedress by @truebias and the fabric is the dotty about dots in cinnamon by @ladymcelroyfabrics, bought from @wildflowerfabric. This pattern has honestly been one of my most enjoyable makes and the french seams everywhere are just *chefs kiss, chefs kiss, chefs kiss*!! I did not even know that you could do a french seam on the gathered ruffle seams. Every day is a school day and all that. But in all seriousness, I have already bought a more wintery fabric so I can make another immediately. As for adjustments, the only thing I did was add a couple of inches to the sleeves and switch out the cuffs for an elastic casing. I think I possibly made the casing too wide though as the sleeves are not quite as long as I’d like so I think I’ll add even more length next time. I’m all about those big floofy pirate sleeves. Excuse me while I go frolic in the meadows with all the flowers 💐. This is a very hacked #roscoeblouse by @truebias and I love it. The fabric is from @sewmesunshine.uk and it is the softesttttt thing ever. I think it’s a viscose twill if I remember correctly and I probably used around a metre and half since I still have some left over from the 2m. I’ve had this fabric in my stash for a wee while and just couldn’t decide what to make with it. So I got it into my head that I wanted a blouse with mahooosive sleeves and a button up front. You might remember me asking for recommendations on my story a couple of weeks ago but none of the pattern recommendations were really singing to me. So I decided to go back to my trusty #truebiasroscoe and just make a few modifications to it. So here goes: - I shortened the blouse version by 1.5 inches - I added 7 inches to the sleeve width - I extended the sleeves by 5 inches and narrowed the cuff significantly (but not so much I can’t squash my hand through) - I drafted a button placket for each side which was about 5cm wide for each pattern piece - I extended the neck binding piece to accommodate the placket pieces. - after all the effort of drafting the placket, I couldn’t be hooped making button holes so the whole thing is sewn shut and the buttons sewn on 🤷‍♀️ All in all I’m super happy with the result and think I might make another in a cotton lawn so the sleeves are extra statement. #givemeallthesleeves #sewmesunshine #truebiaspatterns #truebiasroscoeblouse #roscoeblousehack #bigsleeveenergy #frugalfrocks2021 #youcanhackit #indiepatternhack

Loving my new @truebias #truebiasblair skirt paired in the first photo with my hacked #truebiasroscoe and in the second with a new #truebiasnikko I’d seen various lovely versions of this skirt in all lengths and decided I had to have the pattern. I knew that I wanted to line my Blair so that there’s no chance of it sticking to tights and Kelli has helpfully included how to do that on the true bias blog - it’s super easy to do and I’d definitely recommend it. My outer fabric is a beautiful chocolate coloured corduroy from @merchantandmills and the lining is a Bemberg cupro from a store called Suasion Shop on eBay. The skirt comes in 3 lengths, but of course, you could sew any length you like. I sewed the maxi version and shortened it by 2” as it is very long (I think I would shorten future versions by 4” for an ideal length for me). For reference This pattern is drafted for a height of 5’5” and I’m 5’6”. I sewed the pattern according to my measurements a size 4 at the hips merging to a 2 at the waist and it’s perfect. I managed to cut the skirt out of 1.5m of 140 wide fabric (instead of the suggested 2m) and 1m of lining. I chose not to sew buttonholes down the entire length of the placket as there’s no way you would be able to walk in it if you were to button them all up - consequently I used the buttonhole markings for the knee length skirt rather than the maxi as I prefer the look without the extra buttons/buttonholes. As you would expect from True Bias the instructions are fabulous and there’s also a sew along. From the first time I saw the Roscoe Dress from True Bias, I knew that I needed one. By May, I knew it would be my first day of school dress this year. I picked out a fabric for that…but let’s just say that plan went awry. I bought this dress with a different plan in mind, but then I realized that this fabric was meant to be a Roscoe. I like Roscoe well enough. I made a size 6 in view C without the ruffle. If, no, when I make another (it’s going to be black cotton double gauze) I’ll go down a size. This one is a bit roomy, but it works. However, the pattern doesn’t have any waist shaping, and I like waist shaping. So I cut the dress at my natural waist, sewed it back together, and put elastic in. It also doesn’t have pockets as written, but I need pockets. In fact, I actually didn’t put pockets in, but after two of my closest friends called me out on that, I opened up the side seams and put pockets in. I wore it for the first day of school last week, and it was fabulous. But I didn’t get pictures until today. It has already been well complimented in its two outings. Overall, I’m very happy with this dress. As I said, I’ll definitely be revisiting this pattern. #mmm22 #memademay Day 2 Wearing my #truebiaspatterns #truebiasroscoedress which has all the best of the 90s vibes for me. I am pretty sure I would’ve gravitated towards the dress in high school and here I am at age 46 still wearing it. Definite secret pajamas but I also feel put together. This may, I am just wearing the clothes that I feel like wearing and posting about why I like wearing them. I am not going to worry about repeats because that will just show the things that I like to wear the most that I made. Also, I cleaned out my closet and got rid of a lot of my clothes when we moved this year so I don’t have as many of my me mades left anymore. Goal to sew one or two new things this month.

2021 is turning out to have some more unexpected twists for me (us), namely that our marriage was expedited from 2022 to now. We’re still going to have the big wedding in Finland next year, but we had to let practicality dictate some of our plans for now. Visa problems *sigh* 🙃 I never planned on making my wedding dress, but with planning a last-minute wedding with 1 month to spare, I felt this was a chance for me to regain some control in this chaos. Time management was certainly an issue in finishing this dress, and it didn’t help that I got my second COVID-19 vaccine dose the night before our wedding (I work in healthcare and didn’t have any say in my scheduling 🤷🏻‍♀️). Those second shot aches and headache (plus chills and low-grade fever) are no joke, but it was still worth it to get it. So, our schedule for the wedding day got pushed back quite a bit, and I skipped hemming it to save time (forgive me, craftsnark) but we have really, really lovely friends who rolled right along with the changes (and who won’t judge me for my sewing sins). We got married at the park down the street by a dear friend, and with a small group of friends in support (basically our pod). They surprised us by decorating the dock and buying us balloons. That almost brought me to tears. The rest of the day went marvelously. I wish our parents could have been in attendance, but let’s hope that all goes as planned for Finland 2022! I knew I wanted to use a familiar dress pattern. After some research, I was very much inspired by a vintage Vogue dress (#vogue2053) and by @megmadesewing for my version of a @TrueBias #RoscoeDress. I used a @previewtextile silk crepe de chine (color 102) and lined the bodice with lucidum white bemberg rayon, both from @moodfabrics. I added pockets, skipped the ties, & sewed an elastic waistband onto the dress. This was my first time working with such a slippery material, but I’m so glad I got a lot of use out of my new @berninausa walking foot. It made French seams a lot more manageable. Though it’s not perfect, I was still so happy and proud to wear it. I have plans to eventually dye it, so I can get more use out of it. (Photo ID in comments)

Day 26 of MMM 2025 . Please excuse everything especially my face . I got up early for the first time in months to exercise and now I’m really tired . Hopeing I can adjust back into it . It is so nice to have exercise ticked off in the morning and then I can just get on with my day . Usually means I can fit in sewing time which I really need at the moment . Here it is . . . my #roscoedress by @truebias , made out of this gorgeous tencel linen fabric from @neridahansenfabrics. Love the statement print designed by @skinnylaminx ❤️❤️ Added a gathered skirt to the #roscoeblouse (shortened the length of the blouse) and used a contrasting plain black linen around the neckline and on the sleeves. Here I have teamed it with my RTW leather belt as I like a cinched in waist to show some shape. I did also make a plain black fabric tie belt to use for a more casual feel. I think everyone has that one pattern that they keep on going back to time and time again . . . for me it’s the #roscoeblouse / #roscoedress by @truebias. I have made a couple of summer dress versions using this pattern, but this is my first winter one - simple hacks such as adding length to the sleeves (I used elastic in the cuffs), and adding a few gathered tiers to the length, makes this a great winter dress - styled with boots and a belt of course! I’ve been a bit slack with posting, so there will be some catch-ups coming along very soon. Here is another @truebias #roscoedress I made for DD2 a couple of weeks ago. I need to make the next one about another inch shorter in the bodice to sit where she wants it to, but this one is very much loved and has already been worn multiple times. I hacked the bodice to be about 3 inches shorter, made it short-sleeved and added the sleeve ruffle. The skirt tiers are 3 inches, 6 inches & 9inches wide. The bottom tier ended up with quite a deep hem, so as a result the bottom two look more similar. I LOVE this dress! Even though it’s totally not weather appropriate right now. And yes I had to stand in a wood to take these photos, and yes it was chilly. This pattern is the gorgeous #roscoedress by @truebias and the fabric is the dotty about dots in cinnamon by @ladymcelroyfabrics, bought from @wildflowerfabric. This pattern has honestly been one of my most enjoyable makes and the french seams everywhere are just *chefs kiss, chefs kiss, chefs kiss*!! I did not even know that you could do a french seam on the gathered ruffle seams. Every day is a school day and all that. But in all seriousness, I have already bought a more wintery fabric so I can make another immediately. As for adjustments, the only thing I did was add a couple of inches to the sleeves and switch out the cuffs for an elastic casing. I think I possibly made the casing too wide though as the sleeves are not quite as long as I’d like so I think I’ll add even more length next time. I’m all about those big floofy pirate sleeves. Finished this @TrueBias #RoscoeDress in time for a rare trip to the outside world to pick up some crafting supplies from @GatherHere (thanks for the back alley backdrop 😆). This dress was made with @teliofashion *inhale* silky noil washed viscose linen slub in Deep Teal. I’m so in love with this color 🥰 I sewed a size 6. I’m 5’4” and wanted the dress to hit right around my knees when the waist was taken in, so I added 2 inches to View B and sewed the View C ruffle onto it. I added pockets(!) and made a bias tape “belt” to take the waist in. I am thinking to add an elastic casing to make it easier to wear, but we’ll see if I actually get around to it. This dress was a challenge for me, with all the gathering and binding, but it was worth the time and effort spent. I am so glad I have discovered Andre Alexis a Torontonian of Trinidadian descent who has an incredible imagination and talent. . Pastoral got to be the oddest book, in the best sense of the word, I read. It’s beautiful, weird and clever. . Five Little Indians by another Canadian, a Cree writer Michelle Good is currently a bestseller in Canada. This fiercely compassionate novel deserves to be read by all who want to get closer to understanding the plight of the Indigenous peoples in Canada. . Sufferance by Thomas King who is another Canadian writing about First Nations, is a wry small Ontario town depiction that’s very funny and entertaining while also a book pointing at the circumstances of indgenous peoples’ lives. . James McBride is a force that probably doesn’t need an introduction. I love all his books I read. The Deacon King Kong is exhilarating, heartening portrayal of a black community in 1970 Brooklyn. Laugh out loud and a very moving read it is. . The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris reminded me of some great books I know like the Americanah and also of novels by Margaret Atwood, with its touch of SF. . Hello new work-from-home shirt! Doing #memademay this year made it very clear to me that I don’t make many work appropriate me-made outfits. But given that working from home/zoom is how I spend much of my time, that’s a shame! So I made this @truebias #Roscoeblouse out of a maxi, tiered H&M dress I found at Buffalo Exchange (last pic). The fabric is super crisp and structured which is great for this pattern. It took a LOT of work to put the fabric together and get enough from it to cut the pattern pieces out (2nd to last pic). Luckily the pattern is busy so the jigsaw-puzzle-nature of each pattern piece isn’t a big deal! Zoom in to find the places where I needed to jigsaw some fabric pieces together to get a big enough piece 👀 I made a size 2. My only mods were (1) omitting the neck tie as I knew I’d never need them and (2) raising the slit at the neck by just under an inch. This was a quick make and yet still taught me a lot. Swapped my sandals for boots, but outfit repeating is honestly where it’s at 😎✌🏽 I was skeptical about this top- I bought the pattern hoping to make the button down hack, and impulsively made this top out of a random remnant. The little ‘v’ in the front was actually pretty hard to achieve, I snipped a little too far into mine but you can’t tell! Hot off the machine- #sewingproject #2 for #2023 is the @truebias #roscoedress in a simply gorgeous #rayon from @spotlightstores . Firstly- the pattern. This is only the second actual dress I’ve made from this pattern- I’ve made a few of the blouses. The first one I’d printed the pattern incorrectly so the scale was all off. So if required mega adjustments- so printed it again. This pattern is so simple and comes together so quickly. This one is the tunic length with 2 inches added. It’s a good dress to wear in winter too with tights and boots and works well with belts and long line cardigans or coats. Sized down to an 8 for this one as I very rarely wear such loose dresses and wanted a closer fit. But I plan to swan and float around in it 😀 Now to the fabric. This gorgeous rayon is from the amazing #artist Megan Nampijinpa Kantamarra and the print is called #marapintidreaming @spotlightstores do such great collabs with artists and we all benefit! A little throw back to when my hair was blonde and I sewed up a cute #roscoeblouse from @truebias. As many others have done, I sized down quite a bit and lengthened the sleeves to compensate. My measurements put me at a size 12, but I did a size 4. The perfect swishy mood booster! 💃 I’ve been in a rut the past few days and came home the other day knowing I needed a carefree and easy make, and this was just what I needed! Pattern: @truebias #RoscoeDress in a straight size 0 (based off my 32” chest measurement) in the mini dress/tunic view. My only mod was to add shirring at the waist for a bit of shaping. Fabric: viscose crepe in merlot from @blackbirdfabrics ✨this fabric is a freaking delight, it’s so soft and perfectly drapey and was very easy to sew with! I bought more in another color and can’t wait to sew with it! I added decorative stitching to the sleeve binding, and am now considering going back and adding it to the neckline too, it’s such a fun detail! The pattern came together in about 4 hours over two days. Next time I will cut the V neck a little higher as my bra peeks through underneath, I don’t have much of a bust so this might be why. 📽️ this pattern isn’t very projector friendly. The PDF isn’t layered, and all of the True Bias patterns are locked and pieces can’t be manipulated easily on Inkscape. I ended up tracing each piece on the computer in order to make it easier to sew with the projector. That added about an hour to the total making time (making it more like 5-6 hours total). Otherwise it’s a lovely pattern with clear instructions! Finished my second @truebias #roscoeblouse last night! I made it almost exactly as written but raised the front slit a little as with the other one I have I always feel slightly uncomfortable without a top underneath. I also added a little length to both the body and arms as usual (#tallpeopleproblems ). I am completely in love with this fabric, it’s a silk noil from @sistermintaka . It feels incredibly luxurious, lightweight and flowy but still with that slightly slubby, rustic finish. The best denim skirt! This is the @ninaleelondon Camden skirt. I used to have one I wore all the time but it was too small so I remade it in a size 12. I am so glad I did because I wear it once or twice a week, it’s such a wardrobe workhorse. This denim is brilliant and is from @threadquarters. I got some black there to make another. Love the statement print designed by @skinnylaminx ❤️❤️ Added a gathered skirt to the #roscoeblouse (shortened the length of the blouse) and used a contrasting plain black linen around the neckline and on the sleeves. I made something that isn’t a bra- I desperately need to make some actual clothes so here is step one on that road. No modifications to the pattern accept ditching the sleeve cuffs in favour of elastic and the centre front has a seam because I just didn’t have enough fabric to cut it in one piece. Excuse me while I go frolic in the meadows with all the flowers 💐. This is a very hacked #roscoeblouse by @truebias and I love it. The fabric is from @sewmesunshine.uk and it is the softesttttt thing ever. I think it’s a viscose twill if I remember correctly and I probably used around a metre and half since I still have some left over from the 2m. I’ve had this fabric in my stash for a wee while and just couldn’t decide what to make with it. So I got it into my head that I wanted a blouse with mahooosive sleeves and a button up front. You might remember me asking for recommendations on my story a couple of weeks ago but none of the pattern recommendations were really singing to me. So I decided to go back to my trusty #truebiasroscoe and just make a few modifications to it. So here goes: - I shortened the blouse version by 1.5 inches - I added 7 inches to the sleeve width - I extended the sleeves by 5 inches and narrowed the cuff significantly (but not so much I can’t squash my hand through) - I drafted a button placket for each side which was about 5cm wide for each pattern piece - I extended the neck binding piece to accommodate the placket pieces. - after all the effort of drafting the placket, I couldn’t be hooped making button holes so the whole thing is sewn shut and the buttons sewn on 🤷‍♀️ All in all I’m super happy with the result and think I might make another in a cotton lawn so the sleeves are extra statement. #givemeallthesleeves #sewmesunshine #truebiaspatterns #truebiasroscoeblouse #roscoeblousehack #bigsleeveenergy #frugalfrocks2021 #youcanhackit #indiepatternhack

A finish! My first attempt at sewing the Roscoe Blouse from @truebias and it won’t be the last. A really enjoyable sew from start to finish. Talking of finishing - if I do say so myself, it’s rather beautifully finished, with French seams throughout and hand finished neck and cuff bindings. The fabric is a soft and light embroidered cotton cheesecloth from @legendtextiles which is perfect for warmer weather. I have made a couple of summer dress versions using this pattern, but this is my first winter one - simple hacks such as adding length to the sleeves (I used elastic in the cuffs), and adding a few gathered tiers to the length, makes this a great winter dress - styled with boots and a belt of course! Fabric is a spotted navy blue linen from @spotlightstores.
