Second day of #memademay2025 and it’s my first all me made outfit for the office. The skirt is the @truebias Mave Skirt which was a kit from @guthrieghani last year. I made it to go and see Shania Twain last summer. The top is another @guthrieghani kit, the @sewliberated Strata Top in a lovely soft double gauze. Never worn these together and quite happy with it. Like this blouse - it’s the Wren by @chalkandnotch that I got along with the fabric when I was lucky enough to visit @guthrieghani. I made the size 8 with their bigger cup size (cup sizes for the win) and it’s a lovely fit. I used this double gauze which has lovely little dashes woven through it. I had 1.5mtrs and have around 20-30cm left. I played with this slightly in the two part sleeve but I don’t think it’s noticeable. It goes perfectly with this @truebias mave skirt which I got as a kit from Guthrie Ghani also. A full G+G outfit! This is a lovely make - the finish of the facing and sleeves are lovely. I can see myself making the long sleeved version in future but not the dress. I have worn this three times now since making it last week - a true sign of love! #OOTD. I have to show you what I did with this funky fabric from @mollymollyfabric! I started with @truebias #truebiasmave skirt pattern and added the band at the bottom for a more lantern shape. I thought it was a bit over the top so I added the turquoise to make it even more extra! I love the print and I’ve been pointing out the legs on the strawberries to everyone who compliments the skirt! I made more things that look pretty in Italy (but what doesn‘t?)! A very simple skirt: the Mave Skirt by True Bias that I’ve made a number of times in several variations. This is the single-tier midi length view, but I believe I’ve lengthened it a bit. Maybe it’s actually the maxi length; can’t remember! What I do remember is that I made the waistband quite a bit narrower, for that 90s vibe. Speaking of 90s vibe: the top is also a True Bias pattern that I’ve made several times: the Brynn cardigan. I used a very soft, very stretchy cotton pointelle. And I just sewed it shut with those buttons, because there was no chance in hell I was going to stitch buttonholes into this fabric. So my #maveskirt is done and I love it only had 2 metres or fabric so had to piece the waist band together and the last tier is about 1.5 inch shorter then it should be. Fabric is from @craftygirlmaria it’s a soft gorgeous viscose. The white fabric was intended to be a pullover shirt for my husband but the fabric was a little too thick for the style of shirt he wanted so I lucked out and got a nice jacket instead 😉. A classic black skirt ~ the perfect addition to my wardrobe 🖤 I’ve had the @truebias Mave Skirt on my to-sew list for the longest time, largely thanks to some gorgeous inspiration from @cath_craft You’re probably used to seeing the tiered, gathered version of the Mave, but there are SO many different versions you can make from that pattern and I love this simple version. My measurements put me between a 4 and 6 for the waist, then an 8 for the hips, but I decided a Size 6 would be ideal and I’m more than happy with the result (for reference, I’m 36.5”/28”/38” and just shy of 5ft6”!) Sewing up the Mave was a breeze - fantastic instructions and it came together super fast - especially as I had no gathers to do 😉 I love the finish of the waistband too - the multiple rows of top stitching give it such a gorgeous finish. Ad || The fabric I used is a Modal from @rainbowfabrickilburn 🌈 It feels beautifully soft both to touch and wear, and it sewed and pressed brilliantly too. I knew we’d be going to church on our trip and needed something that wouldn’t show wrinkles from being stuffed in a suitcase. This crinkle rayon worked perfectly! I’m loving wearing the True Bias Mave skirt at the moment, I sewed this up last year when it was one of the Guthrie & Ghani monthly sewing society kits and it’s had a lot of wear so far this summer. Its an absolute gem of a pattern with so many different options, I made the three tier version and its just so lovely, floaty & swishy! I’m happy to report that this Black n White make was much more successful than the one I shared yesterday! Don’t kid yourself though… I almost didn’t see this one through. I chose to construct all the tiers for the front and then the back, and thereafter joined the side seams… it was only then that I realized I had attached tier 3 to tier 1 AND had done it upside down to boot! Of course I had already used my serger to trim and finish my seams🥹😱 I wanted so badly to put it in the UFO but my friend whispered to me that it was too good not to fix it… ughhhh! Pink! .... Love it!..... When I received this cotton batik fabric from @minervadotcom I knew I wanted it to become a tiered maxi skirt. I did some googling and felt confident I could use a little maths to make my own without a pattern! Love a bit of frugal sewing. Wearing my Mave skirt today, I must admit I was never drawn to this pattern and I’ve seen loads of really lovely makes on here, I just thought the style wouldn’t suit me. But I am always stuck for skirts in the summer and can never seem to find a skirt that I really like even ready to wear. Anyway a few ladies in our sewcial have made this so I was inspired to give it a go and I’m so glad I did 😊 I thought it would be a pretty simple make but due to my own sewing mishaps it didn’t turn out to be, Nothing to do with the pattern which is really well written, I just tend to rush ahead without reading it through first and I thought you had to make one long skirt and then add the ruffles on, thinking wow this is really fabric hungry! I wanted to sew the ruffled skirt but only had about 1.5 yards of this fabric. I don’t remember when I bought it or why, but I feels like rayon with a heavier drape than challis. Happy Valentine’s Day! 💌 I received this lovely Swooning Hearts Ecovero Crepe in the @fabricgodmother January Dream Wardrobe box. The pattern that came with it was for the By Hand London Sarah Shirt which I definitely want to make, but I felt like this fabric just NEEDED to be a swishy skirt! I’d been wanting to try the @truebias Mave Skirt for awhile and this was the perfect opportunity. I made a size 6, midi length, with 2 tiers. It came together quickly (luckily, because I wanted to wear it today!) and I love the final result—the perfect swingy skirt to wear all year long. I made more things that look pretty in Italy (but what doesn‘t?)! A very simple skirt: the Mave Skirt by True Bias that I’ve made a number of times in several variations. This is the single-tier midi length view, but I believe I’ve lengthened it a bit. Maybe it’s actually the maxi length; can’t remember! What I do remember is that I made the waistband quite a bit narrower, for that 90s vibe. Speaking of 90s vibe: the top is also a True Bias pattern that I’ve made several times: the Brynn cardigan. I used a very soft, very stretchy cotton pointelle. And I just sewed it shut with those buttons, because there was no chance in hell I was going to stitch buttonholes into this fabric. Final week of MeMadeMay and it features a lot of new makes. First up is this fresh off the machine @sewoveritlondon Georgie dress hacked to be a maxi length. It’s made in this fabulous deadstock Farm Rio fabric I got from @rainbowfabrickilburn. Using one of their brand ambassadors codes including postage this cost less than £25 which is a far cry from the £250 you’d spend on one from their shop. The fabric is so soft and silky, it feels so lovely to wear but also day appropriate. This is also my entry to #sewskinsummer25 hosted by @the_sewing_gardener This is my sort of summer dress, loose and cool but pretty covered. Sun screen is good but it doesn’t replace clothing for surety! The rest of the week I wore 1) a new @megannielsenpatterns hovea in this fabulous deadstock Farm brocade from @minervadotcom - will share more later 2) a new @closetcorepatterns nicks dress in @the_crafty_pie fabric - will share more later 3) continuing the nicks love in this older one in rainbow fabric deadstock. 4) @sewoveritlondon ultimate trousers in @fabricgodmother stretch denim and @tillybuttons new in linen from @rainbowfabrickilburn 5) a full @guthrieghani outfit - all their sewing society. I made this @truebias #maveskirt a while ago and have worn it so much. The pattern and fabric came in an @fabricgodmother #fgdreamwardrobe kit. I don’t think I’d have chosen this fabric/pattern combination but I love it- which just shows you should sometimes step out of your comfort zone. The colours really lift my mood and I love how I can team it with this red sweater (an fab rtw buy from @irisandviolet_shop Stamford a few years ago). I will also be pairing it with a green cardigan. I can also layer it up with boots and wear it all winter! The pattern is very simple and has various length/ruffle variations. 💙Mave Skirt💙 I sewed this pattern for the first time last year and it has been a staple in my summer wardrobe so it appeared evident that i must sew another one. I used some viscose linen noil that has a beautiful drape while still being relatively easy to manipulate. Overall the construction is very easy but has loads of gathering, however using my gathering foot helped tremendously. I started making this dress in the final week of August, hoping to enter it into the #PatternMashUp challenge but sadly ran out of time I went round in circles with the finish of this dress trying to work out what trims I wanted to add I absolutely love the @helens__closet Reynolds dress and it has so much potential to be hacked too. You only have to scroll back over my grid to see how many times I’ve used it as a base for a dress For this version I used the skirt pattern pieces from the @truebias Mave skirt and added them onto the top part of the Reynolds dress Between each tier of the skirt I added some broderie anglaise trim that I bought from @newcrafthouse and finally added some red ric rac across the bodice neckline and the hem of the skirt I decided to add tie straps so the dress could easily be adjusted. Happy Valentine’s Day! 💌 I received this lovely Swooning Hearts Ecovero Crepe in the @fabricgodmother January Dream Wardrobe box. The pattern that came with it was for the By Hand London Sarah Shirt which I definitely want to make, but I felt like this fabric just NEEDED to be a swishy skirt! I’d been wanting to try the @truebias Mave Skirt for awhile and this was the perfect opportunity. I made a size 6, midi length, with 2 tiers. It came together quickly (luckily, because I wanted to wear it today!) and I love the final result—the perfect swingy skirt to wear all year long. Feels like it's been a hot minute since I've sewed up some gorgeous challis from @minervadotcom. I had the most difficult time landing on what the heck to sew, so this fabric languished on my dresser and I regularly held it up in front of the mirror to ask what it needed to be. 😂 I finally chose the simplest untiered version of the @truebias Mave Skirt and a capped sleeve Scenic Top from @twigandtale.
