Minerva recently launched their latest exclusive kits and I had the opportunity to try one as part of the brand ambassador program. I’ve been thinking of making the True Bias Rory jumpsuit for years, and now paired with the beautiful Floral Expression linen viscose blend, it was a no-brainer! As always, receiving a kit with everything in it to sew up any version is just the best! I started by making a muslin out of an old bedsheet to make sure the fit would be what I wanted. Dabbling in Toddler Chic this week! ✨ My main goal was to figure out how to style my summer rompers/jumpsuits/overalls for winter while striking a balance of modesty for work but still feeling good in my clothes. I ended up bailing on the theme for Day 5 because it took too much energy to find that balance. #memademay2023 day 9 Today's #ootd is the #truebiasyari or #truebiasrory as it was renamed. I made this a few years ago, and followed the pattern without making adjustments, or without making a toile, because #lazy and The body ended up being far too long, so I had to make a rather tricky shoulder adjustment, to take out 5 cm, but the fit is generally ok. I do really the the pockets and the side adjustment straps. The fabric is a heavy linen from @johnlewis which I bought on a shopping spree back in the UK some years ago. Generally, I would never choose linen, so not sure why I did in this case. It's perfect for this pattern, but for me, the linen relaxes too much during the day and becomes too baggy and slouchy. I'm tempted to remake these, in a twill with a slight stretch as the pattern was a joy to make, and the style is super comfy. #memademay #memade #sewing #homemade #roomakesthings

Living my best toddler life in this jumpsuit! ✨ Y’all know I love a one-piece, and so I snagged this pattern on sale several months ago, and finally decided to go for it! I’ve not had the best luck fitting some True Bias garments recently – she drafts for a C cup and I’m an A/B cup and hate doing SBAs. I was worried this would gape at the bust, but it doesn’t! I do, however, need to accept that I can’t wear my beloved Patagonia bra with any of the v-neck patterns I’ve made recently as it always peeks out ½”. PATTERN: @TrueBias Rory Jumpsuit ( #TrueBiasRory or #RoryJumpsuit ) which has limited sizing up to a 46.5” hip Current Measurements: B: 32” W: 27” H: 36” and I’m 5’3” (metric in bio) SIZE/MODS: I made a size 2, which matches my waist measurement, it’s one size up in the bust and below in the hip. Based on the pattern recommendation, I shortened the torso 1” and the inseam 1”, it fits perfectly! MATERIALS: This is 4.5oz sandwashed cotton (petrol colorway) from @BlackbirdFabrics I ordered 2.5m which I thought would be enough, but I ended up having to piece together the back pieces at the waist line. I love this fabric a lot, although it did get some discoloration from my iron when using the cotton heat setting. I found the d-rings in my stash, originally purchased years ago for gaiters that I never made. The buttons are from @saltlakesewciety TIME/COST: I didn’t track the time properly on this make, probably 10 hours total, including prepping the pattern file/cutting the fabric. I purchased the fabric on sale for $30, and the pattern on sale for $10.40. The buttons cost $2.40. I’m very happy with how this turned out, I realized as soon as I finished it that it fits exactly how I wish the Clyde Jumpsuit did. I like that the pockets are subtle but functional, the waist ties are the perfect shaping, and I’m shocked I didn’t need to modify the French seams for my small chest! It’s a bit rumpled at this point because I’ve really been living in it, but that’s just something you learn to love when you wear linen! One of the modifications I made to my #roryjumpsuit was adding a channel of bias binding to cinch the waist. I much prefer this to the D ring ties as found they pulled the gap between the buttons apart. Also how cute are the new @minervadotcom labels. 🌼 The Rory Jumpsuit 🌼 When I stumbled upon this pattern by @truebias with the same name as my darling baby boy, I just knew I had to make it ASAP. It felt meant to be when I saw that the pattern was a jumpsuit (those that know me irl know that I love a good jumpsuit! 😆) AND has buttons down the front making it absolutely wearable for the breastfeeding stage I'm currently in. I'm working through my stash this year and not buying any new fabric for #lastsewiststanding so this floral midweight cotton had to do even though it's a little out of season for the rainy wintry weather 😅🥶 (I'm not naming the fabric vendor as it is not one I would recommend, but unfortunately have a ton of her fabrics in my stash that I'm certainly not letting go to waste!) I made the jumpsuit in a size 12 and went with view D with the long pant option and sleeve band. There is an option to add ring ties to the sides to cinch in the waist which I contemplated on, but I'm all about the comfy these days with an 8 month old so thought that keeping things baggy and loose would be best. Made no modifications and I'm so happy with the fit! Overall, it was a fun sew and the instructions were super easy to follow. I’m back to work in the refurbished sewing room! 1. I had been searching for a stable knit fabric to make the Style Arc Sia dress. I found this wonderful striped double knit at @stonemountainfabric and knew it would be perfect. I made my usual adjustments to the pattern, and it was a straightforward project - except for matching the stripes. The fabric has horizontal ribbing, and despite using the walking foot, the raised rib on one piece wanted to slip into the “valley” (I’m sure there’s a proper term for this) on the opposite piece. I finally increased the foot pressure, and decided the match was good enough. 2. My first jumpsuit! While visiting @stonemountainfabric, I saw someone wearing the True Bias Rory jumpsuit. I already had the pattern, and just needed to find the right fabric. I found what I was looking for @pdxsewingstudio. It’s a 100% cotton tiny woven check in white, gray and teal. After making a toile, the construction was not difficult, and I look forward to wearing this when the weather cools off a little. 3. Thank you @patternscout for the wonderful YouTube video showing how to construct an ironing mat to use on my cutting table. Love the result 🥰 I am 5’1” so I shorten the hem length by 2” and body by 1/2” at the shorten line. By grading between bust and hips, shortening or lengthening leg or bodice length, changing crotch curves one can really customise the fit. Mein #roryjumpsuit von @truebias. Ich hab ihn aus einem wunderschönen Leinen von @atelier_goldfaden genäht. Am Oberkörper hab ich das SM um 3cm verlängert und an den Beinen um 2cm (um diese dann wieder rumzukrempeln🤔). So ist der Jumpsuit echt supetbequem und ich kann mich ohne zwicken ganz bücken (letztes Bild), doch ich bin mir nicht sicher , ob ich der schönen Rückenansicht zuliebe besser nur 2cm verlängern hätte sollen.
