I had the Fran Blazer from @bellalovespatterns on my ToSew List for a while, in fact I already cut it out of fantastic Italian herringbone wool just in time to notice… that the summer came. So spontaneously I went through my stash last weekend and cut another Fran Blazer out of heavyweight almond linen that I got from Blackbird Fabrics a year or two ago. It was exactly the kind of oversized summer jacket that I planned to make out of it and I definitely need something like this to wear in the morning or generally speaking in the office. Dear Bella, I know you didn’t recommend making this jacket in linen, but I ignored that line in the instructions and just went for it😅 I haven’t made Bella‘s patterns before and I must say the instructions and the attention to detail are fantastic😻I am definitely waiting for her to release the tweed jacket pattern, I already bought the fabric for it. As for this one: this is size 10 with no modifications and I absolutely love it. Planning to wear it with a pair of light blue jean shorts (still to be made) that are a little longer than these True Bias Dani Shorts, although I like this outfit with the Zoey Tank for going out on a summer evening. I also added a stripe of yellow silk piping for a touch of color (swipe to see). I’m happy to share my makes for the @stylemakerfabrics Fall Inspiration…! I was drawn to the Layered Spits Cotton Modal Jersey Knit in Ocean and love that there was a nice color match in the Confetti Speckled Sweatshjrt Fleece in the Ocean color. Both fabrics are soft with vivid colors and washed and dried well. I sewed up a @truebias outfit with the Zoey Dress and the longer length Marlo Sweater. I love wearing knit dresses and thought the cotton modal jersey has a good balance of drape and structure for the Zoey Dress. I wanted a matching cardigan for the cooler months to wear with my dress and picked the Marlo Sweater but opted to not put sleeve cuffs and instead rolled the sleeves. I also haven’t put buttons and buttonholes on my Marlo and may choose to later. I think my outfit will carry well into fall and is suitable for a work outfit for my office. Yay. the #truebiaszoey is one of my fave patterns because i can use it to chop up nasty t-shirts i find at the bins and make them into cute li’l crop tops like this big dogs beauty. i cut 2 sizes up from my measurements when using an old shirt because the pattern is drafted for way stretchier fabrics. the purple plaid was thrifted as a tablecloth, made into a dress, then cut into a skirt so i could figure out how to draft a flat front/ elastic back waistband. cardigan is vintage london fog in shetland wool, also found at the bins and mended. . . #memademay2025

My favourite outfit for the day on holiday is the @patternscout Nellie shorts paired with the @truebias Zoey tank. I have three pairs of Nellie shorts, 2 in a washed cotton from @lamazifabrics and 1 in a linen. I must have 5 zoey tanks, some in ribbed jersey and some in cotton jersey. The fly construction of the Nellie shorts and joggers is genius, produces such a neat finish. The straps on the Zoey tank are perfect, strappy but still cover my bra strap. For me, it’s the perfect holiday combo ☀️😎

Happy 101° Saturday! 🥵🔥 It’s going down over the next few days, but woof! So my mind went to tank tops, specifically the #ZoeyTank from @truebias . I’m gonna need a few of these this summer. I love the construction and the fact that it has a free add-on neckline expansion pack (this soft V is the original — the expansion gives you high neck, scoop, and soft square options). Might make the dress version soon… This fabric is a lightweight striped rib knit that was $1 per yard at @remainders_creative_reuse . They had miles of it, so I got a few yards, mostly to use for muslins, but this little tank will be a cute & cool summer pj top, which obviously needs some matching shorts. The fabric is quite stretchy, not great recovery, and it’s a 14” tubular knit (28” total width), so I get why it ended up there, but I may make a couple more of these and dye them, since this turned out better than expected. One of my most worn makes this winter has been this @truebias and @tillybuttons mash up. I used the #truebiaszoey for the dress and added the sleeves and mock turtleneck from the #sewingfreya pattern. I wanted a dress that had Sezane vibes and this captured the look I was going for perfectly. I sewed it up in a gorgeous rib knit from @littleshopoffabrics which is so lovely to wear. I’ve sewn up a few different tank top patterns before but the Zoey tank by @truebias is my favorite so far. I sewed up a bunch in May in various fabrics and tried out a number of necklines and binding strap methods. The first one pictured, made in a burgundy french terry jersey from @riversidefabrics with a scoop neck, was my favorite combination. The french terry jersey has some stretch but it doesn’t ever feel like it’s stretched out too much like the ribbed fabric can after a long day. I only made one of the cropped length but I plan on making some more the next time I have just a bit of remnant knit fabric! The ivory and pink versions were made with the straps attached in the round and encasing the top of the side seam, which looks a bit smoother at the side seam but it’s not a massive difference and I like the ease I can take in the side seams with the straps sewn in flat with the side seams. Fabrics used: 1-3: Burgundy french terry jersey and matching rib from @riversidefabrics 4-6: burgundy tencel and cotton ribbing from @riversidefabrics 7-10: dusty rose french terry and matching ribbing from @lyricalfabrics 11: Vanilla tencel cotton ribbing from @riversidefabrics 12: vanilla organic cotton twill fleece and matching rib from @riversidefabrics I cut a size 12 for all tops, no adjustments made. #truebias #truebiaspatterns #truebiaszoey #riversidefabrics #frenchterryfabric #lyricalfabrics #sewing

I love it when you make one small tweak to a pattern and it completely transforms it. For this pair of Lander pants I really wanted that striped denim to shine, so I eliminated all of the pockets and used the zipper expansion for a simplified look. Quite pleased with my first effort at the @truebias #zoeytank and I enjoyed making it, which is a good job as I have plenty of plain rib. I think it will be a good wardrobe basic! I bought this stripey rib a while ago from @guthrieghani and I used the Sewing Society video for the pattern to try to get a good finish. The stretchfix was fantastic for folding over the neck and armbands neatly. I also used stretchy Maraflex thread, which was useful as I don't have a stretch stitch on my machine. I made the size that matched my measurements, tho I could size down on a stretchier fabric. I may also shorten the straps slightly. Sewing the armbands stretched the fabric a little and I'm not sure how to stop this happening. Teal dress details! 👗 As I shared in a reel yesterday, I recently finished a @truebias Zoey Dress (#TrueBiasZoey) with the high-neck expansion that is free to download. I had no idea the expansion existed until I was looking at the sew-along for tips on sewing the binding/straps before getting started. While this should have been a pretty quick sew (and was for the first bit…) I seriously goofed on sewing the side seams with my serger and sliced a hole into the side of the dress 🫠. I was able to repair the hole… and thank goodness it’s generally hidden under the arm because it’s definitely not an invisible repair. Fabric is a medium weight bamboo rib knit from @needlework_hamilton which had unfortunately closed, but it’s the same fabric that you can usually find online at Blackbird Fabrics. This is a size 16 from the 0-18 range with no adjustments aside from the different front neckline. Managed to sneak away for a lake day with my sister last week and obviously had to make something new for the occasion. Luckily, @notches_patterns had just released the free #notchesrobin and it was an easy, quick sew with supplies I already had on hand. Did my son question me starting to sew this Robin Cap at 9pm the night before? Yes. Did he request his own after seeing mine? Also yes. I’m a frequent over buyer when it comes to yardage requirements so I had plenty of large scraps in my stash. For this cap I chose a @riflepaperco Amalfi lawn, stash aged 7 years. feels like it took me forever to finish these @paradisepatterns #ProteaPants (it kind of did but that was because I was busy lol.) instead of the big single pleat, I opted for two smaller pleats that I stitched down for a few inches. overall I like this mod, but I think if I do it in the future I'd move the pleats further out. because of their current placement, it's difficult to make a crease down the full length of the legs because neither of the pleats are centered. How about a tank top for meeeee? It’s been a minute. Got the Zoey pattern from @truebias. Made it in a stripey DBP with solid black jersey for the straps. Used my coverstitch for topstitching because I’m all about that life. I had to adjust the width of the pieces accordingly since I kept it as a single fold instead of double as the instructions say. This is a size 8 but I don’t actually know my measurements anymore and didn’t want to take them. Don’t follow that advice. The dedicated @annaallenclothing #heleneshorts post! I currently measure a size 8 waist and size 4 hips and decided to sew a size 6 based on finished waist measurement. I took the back pocket topstitching detail from the free #iamsunshine topstitching add-on pack.  This beautiful fabric is a stretch denim from the @backstitchshop and I am in love. I bought more to make a straight leg version with cuffs to showcase this olive green undertone. The pockets are from scraps I have. They're both supposed to be the floral design, but I did not realise that the 2nd pocket piece I cut had a tear on it. My #truebiaszoey tank is finished! It was actually finished 2 weeks ago but I finally got around to ~actually~ taking a picture with it. This was some scrap knit I had from another project, and I liked the stretch it had-not TOO much, or too little. However, the next time I make it I’m going to omit the interfacing used on the bottom as you can see where the fusible tape was wonky. I’ll eventually fix that and probably won’t use it again when I do for any part of it. For my Make Nine 2023 plans I want to focus on outerwear, with a few wardrobe staples in the mix. For my first project I'm going to make the @cashmerette Lygon robe. It's only available through their #cashmeretteclub. I saw the one that Whitney @tomkatstitcherycarmel made and knew I needed one as well. I purchased a medium weight cotton waffle fabric in purple sage from @minervadotcom. The next make I have planned is the McCall’s M7637 - Men's Bomber jacket. My oldest son has asked if I could make him a bomber jacket in black canvas because he can't find exactly what he wants. The fabric is from @corefabrics. I didn't know that this pattern doesn't have a facing, so I'm going to need to draft one, because he also wants it to have a removable warm lining. Then a jacket for me. I'm going to make the Kelly Anorak from @closetcorepatterns. I have some brown canvas from @stonemountainfabric and a flannel lining from @stylemakerfabrics. My husband asked if I could make him a vest and then a few days later @merchantandmills released the Billy Gilet. I showed it to him and he said "yes". I purchased the Chalk & Notch Joy Jacket sewing society kit from @guthrieghani in maroon. This should be the perfect light weight jacket for Spring. I also need a few layer pieces so I would like to make a few @TrueBias Zoeys. I'm sure I have something in my stash I can use. Going to try again to make a longer cardigan, but this time I'm going to try @helens__closet Blackwood. I've been longing for a @grainlinestudio Thayer for some time now. Maybe I'll get it done this year. I have some brick twill from @guthrieghani that I think will be perfect. And some more flannel for a lining from @stylemakerfabrics . Lulee skirt details 💐💙 My heart has been wanting to sew all the feminine, elegant pieces and the #luleeskirt is exactly that. Teal dress details! 👗 As I shared in a reel yesterday, I recently finished a @truebias Zoey Dress (#TrueBiasZoey) with the high-neck expansion that is free to download. I had no idea the expansion existed until I was looking at the sew-along for tips on sewing the binding/straps before getting started. While this should have been a pretty quick sew (and was for the first bit…) I seriously goofed on sewing the side seams with my serger and sliced a hole into the side of the dress 🫠. I was able to repair the hole… and thank goodness it’s generally hidden under the arm because it’s definitely not an invisible repair. Fabric is a medium weight bamboo rib knit from @needlework_hamilton which had unfortunately closed, but it’s the same fabric that you can usually find online at Blackbird Fabrics. This is a size 16 from the 0-18 range with no adjustments aside from the different front neckline. #holidaywardrobe Added a few new items to my holiday wardrobe this year and also brought along some old favourites. These are my new shorts @patternscout Nellie shorts and joggers made in a washed cotton remnant, which has a sort of linen feel really from @lamazifabrics I love the Pattern scout Nellie pattern, these are my third version, I have made trousers and another pair of shorts. The fly insertion is pure genius and gives a superb result. The only alteration I have made to the Nellie shorts is to take a little of the fullness out from the bag leg piece. When I was shopping last weekend for fabric to make some costumes I stumbled across this linen look fabric and as much as I tried to resist buying some I couldn’t get the idea of some floaty trousers in it out of my head! So I bought 2.5 metres of it, washed the fabric as soon as I got home and cut out a pair of @simplicitymccallsuk M7131. I couldn’t get the idea out of my head so sewed them up the next day. They’re a wide legged trouser pattern that have these beautiful pleats on the front, a flat fronted waistband with elastic in the back and three different length options. I decided to sew up the full length trousers and love how floaty they are. Unfortunately when I wore them to work I got them caught under a chair and I ripped the bottom of one of the legs so I’m going to have to do a repair which might make them more of a cropped length! I’ve paired the trousers with a @truebias Zoey tank top made in a peach coloured rib knit fabric. How about a tank top for meeeee? It’s been a minute. Got the Zoey pattern from @truebias. Made it in a stripey DBP with solid black jersey for the straps. Used my coverstitch for topstitching because I’m all about that life. I had to adjust the width of the pieces accordingly since I kept it as a single fold instead of double as the instructions say. This is a size 8 but I don’t actually know my measurements anymore and didn’t want to take them. Don’t follow that advice. The dedicated @annaallenclothing #heleneshorts post! I currently measure a size 8 waist and size 4 hips and decided to sew a size 6 based on finished waist measurement. I took the back pocket topstitching detail from the free #iamsunshine topstitching add-on pack.  This beautiful fabric is a stretch denim from the @backstitchshop and I am in love. I bought more to make a straight leg version with cuffs to showcase this olive green undertone. The pockets are from scraps I have. They're both supposed to be the floral design, but I did not realise that the 2nd pocket piece I cut had a tear on it. My #truebiaszoey tank is finished! It was actually finished 2 weeks ago but I finally got around to ~actually~ taking a picture with it. This was some scrap knit I had from another project, and I liked the stretch it had-not TOO much, or too little. However, the next time I make it I’m going to omit the interfacing used on the bottom as you can see where the fusible tape was wonky. I’ll eventually fix that and probably won’t use it again when I do for any part of it. These are the first of many tank tops that I will make with the #truebiaszoeypattern, and now there is a free scoop and square neckline pattern piece which I am very excited to try!! This is the #truebiaszoeytank view A (cropped tank) sewn in a size 8. My only modification was I added an inch to the length. ❤️❤️❤️ The light grey is a beautiful rib knit from #fancytigercrafts that I very excitedly bought when I was visiting family in Denver last month. The pink / coral peach is also a beautiful rib knit from #fancytigercrafts - I need to but more because it feels luxurious and drapes beautifully. The white with little neon flecks (you can’t see them but they are so cute!!!) is a rib knit from #stonemountainanddaughter that was a deadstock fabric that I quickly ordered last year because it was so cool and I finally found something cute to do with it. I am sure you will be seeing more of these in the future!

😍 I am in LOVE with this #truebiaszoeytank ! Instructions were clear and this was a pretty quick make. I purchased this fabric from @iseefabric and it’s the Organic 2x1 rib knit in Spruce. It is a DREAM to sew with. Sturdy and soft. Bonus was that I was able to cut the tank out of the remaining fabric since I did some creative cutting and made good use of as much surface area as I could, and I STILL have some left! Me Made May Day 20 A bit late posting this one, as we went to a festival and there was no signal. Two me made items hot off the sewing machine, so much so, I was still hemming these on the morning of the festival🤣 This is the @truebias zoey tank my new favourite vest top pattern in the softest rib fabric from @guthrieghani paired with the Lisbeth pants by @anna.zoe.sewing in a linen mix fabric.
