As a reward for finishing all of the strip piecing for my quilt the other week, I treated myself to some @truebias #rileyoveralls which were fun to make! They make a very comfy weekend outfit, paired with a #s8982 mock neck. I used 8 oz hickory stripe denim from @boltfabricpdx which they kindly gave me some extra because there was a bit of staining in parts. Luckily it mostly washed out, so now I have enough for another smaller project! I was very influenced to buy the striped denim after seeing @rickyandthecrafts fab jeans! 📏 size 0 (which is for a one inch smaller than my hip measurement) but it seemed like a lot of people on here sized down. No mods besides lengthening the legs about an inch and adding the carpenter pocket and double front knees. I left off the belt loops too. My natural color topstitching thread pretty much blends in. I finally purchased the Riley Overalls from True Bias, not sure why it took me so long. I love to wear overalls, so this seems like a perfect match for my style. This pattern was so fun to sew, the instructions are so well written and easy to follow. I made a size 8, except at the waist I I set by to a 10. For the length I did add 2 inches and that easy just right. From the leftover fabric, which came from Joann Fabrics I made a pair for my youngest granddaughter. I used Kwik Sew 3145 and I sewed this little overalls in an afternoon. I realized after I took the photos, my entire outfit is from True Bias! I also purchased the hardware for my overalls at True Bias. i love dungarees <3 peak clothing design <3 i just know that i will be living in these soon. dungarees and wide leg trousers are my two favourite things clothes wise so these are absolutely perfect. i started them in january but at some point i sewed the waistband on inside out and then gave up on them until last week, they really wouldnt have taken that long to make otherwise. i used a black denim with white contrast stitching and silver clips and buttons, and contrast pockets with some of my leftover gothy alchemisty bat fabric (which i am obsessed with). im so so happy with them and proud of actually finishing something again!! i finally have my sewjo back :). I sewed a pair of overalls! It took me the whole summer. I take a chem final on Tuesday and between the chem class and the overalls, I am feeling accomplished haha 😆 #rileyoveralls pattern from @truebias I love these patterns, they always fit great with very few alterations. I used white bull denim from @fabricwholesaledirect

It’s a bit hot for these but I’m thrilled with how they turned out😊. The #rileyoveralls have been on my on my list since I first started sewing. I was unoriginal in color choice and copied product photos because I loved the look. Everything went smooth except for the button holes which is how it normally goes. Also featured, is the #stellantee. Fit notes: B.33 W.28 H.40 5 3” I decided to grade in between sizes since the waist and hip were 3 sizes apart. I made a size 10 and graded to a 6 in the waist and bib(grading to size 4 I think would have been too much). It wasn’t too difficult and was worth the extra effort. I did have to alter the pocket bag and front pocket facing slightly to grade. Also shortened straps by 1 inch and inseam by an inch.

🏹🐯🔸Riley Overalls🔸🐯🏹 . The last in my hiking clothes series 😅 . This is the second overalls pattern I've tried and I love them so much! They are easy to make because the instructions are so good, and there's no zipper 🙌🏼 You can never really go wrong with a @truebias pattern! . I made a straight side 6 with the only mod being taking about 1.5" off at the hem. They're designed to be rolled at the hem but I thought I'd come home with a hem full of dust and twigs after a day in the mountains! . The fabric is the third in the Belize cotton canvas collection that I bought at @treelotta (designed by @laurenlesleystudio ). I wish I paid more attention to the placement of the tigers on the back of the legs but I was in a hurry to get these finished in time for the archery event. . The overalls are so comfortable and so much easier to wear than the denim leopard print ones I made last year with a different pattern. With the exception of going to the bathroom, overalls are superior to pants! . The top is a Blomma Tank from a few years ago. The hip bag is the Festival Bag by @kandoucrafts . Day 7 of MMM 2025. These #rileyoveralls by #truebias are probably my favourite thing I have ever made . They took 4 pairs of jeans 3 spools of heavy duty thread , a set of hardware , buttonholes sewn by hand ( because my machine was being difficult to put it nicely ) . So many hours sewing together the denim before I could even cut the pattern pieces . A few sewing machine needles and a whole lot of love . I made these as my husbands health was declining though we never could have imagined the diagnosis we recieved only days after I finished these . Regardless if this connection I love theses . I had a vision for what I wanted to make and I executed it almost perfectly. I could probably have gone down a size but honestly not worth even thinking about . Great pattern ! I was reminded this morning I need more long sleeves tops for under overalls and my dresses for winter . These dungarees took a month of Sundays to make, and it was worth every minute. It’s been a while since I shared any makes with you, and I’ve missed it. It’s partly due to making Christmas presents/things for other people, partly due to just not getting round to taking pics. Mostly it’s because I’m trying to slow down and take my time with each make to get a better finish. As part of this new effort to take my time and enjoy the process, I decided to finally get over my fear of topstitching. I dipped a toe in the water with a pair of modern sewer worker trousers (to share another day) and then I jumped right into the deep end with these dungarees with a lot of very visible topstitching 👀 It was daunting and it took forever but I’m so proud of how they turned out. These are my second pair of #rileyoveralls by @truebias . I was inspired by a khaki pair that Kelli shared back in the summer that I thought looked so great and versatile. I love True Bias designs because they are super functional but don’t scrimp on interesting details. They also have such clear instructions which makes a huge difference. Along with the dungarees I’m wearing a #nikkotop which is also a True Bias fave that I wear daily in winter.

I have accumulated SUCH a backlog of makes that I can’t wait to share. Shorter days and a busy schedule really makes it hard to photograph all the things I’ve been seeing. • I’ve made several version of the #rileyoveralls from @truebias, but I was still wanting a denim version to round out my overalls collection. I love the pocket details on this pattern and think that Kelli really nailed the fit (as always). I made a size 0 for mine, taking 1/4” off the side seams as my measurements are just below the size range. I also shortened both the bib and inseam by 1 1/2” to account for my height. • This Mt. Vernon Twist Denim from @saltlakesewciety has such a great indigo wash and slubby texture for this pattern. At 14.5oz, it was definitely one for the industrial machine! I also struggled to get all the rivets to stay, so I opted for two different types of rivets (nipple and flat). • It’s safe to say this might be my last overalls make for a minute. #sewists log day 4 of #memademay. This is the make I am most proud of. I love them I wear them all the time. #rileyoveralls by @truebias in a denim from @livingstonetextilesbridport they did take me a long time to make and although it’s not clear in the pictures I’m super pleased with the top stitching. Sometimes you just need a little win. I’ve made two quilts since the start of the year and needed a little palate cleanse. Making overalls was a whole thing, I tell ya; but so worth it!! I wanted a carhartt utility vibe complete with double fronts. The pattern is designed to have a lot of ease, but I wanted them slightly more fitted, so adjusted accordingly. Super pumped about this versatile addition to my wardrobe! It feels good when something turns out exactly as you envisioned. Details: - double fronts - used the @leila.makes topo pant double front piece and cut off a total of approx 1 1/3 inch from the inseam, and straight across on top instead of keeping that more cowboy looking detail toward the upper-inner edge (see final pic). The double fronts are warm, which I like, but also I tend to wear out knees (the left knee in particular! 😂 🤷🏼‍♀️) fast and can simply sub out the double fronts in a few years when I inevitably wreck the knee. Going for longevity, here, folks. - sized down 2 full sizes (I measure for a 8 and cut a 4). This was actually a very calculated decision, because with a project like this I didn’t want to take any chances of it being too big or small: pulled out my trusty Helene Jeans pattern pieces and compared them with the #rileyoveralls leg pieces, and based on those could have gone with a 2 for a snug fit — but these are overalls so I wanted them a bit more roomy but not way oversized. Super happy with my choice. - heart in coin pocket as usual - hardware was from @blackbirdfabrics - as was the brushed bull denim (teak). Prob my fave fabric of theirs. So soft, wears well, beautiful colour options. - pattern is by @truebias and super well drafted with very clear instructions and diagrams. 🥰

Overall I’m thrilled with how these turned out! 😉 Over the past few weeks I’ve been working on making myself a new pair of @truebias Riley overalls. I made them out of some khaki colour twill fabric that I had leftover from making curtains. I had the best day today! I got to hold a brand new baby and she was SO perfect and delightful. I brought mom and dad one of my favorite dinners and made the same for my fam — paneer masala with a cucumber tomato yogurt salad and chutney. After having no luck thrifting or finding striped overalls at a price I was willing to pay (lol @ usd to cad 😅) I decided I was going to make my own and finally work with denim. These are @truebias #RileyOveralls in a size 2 with no modifications in @blackbirdfabrics 10 oz Railroad Striped Denim and their antique gold overalls hardware kit. I am super happy with how these came out, the only thing I’d change is maybe making the bib a little wider for personal preference. The Riley Overalls are here! I got lots of questions when I wore these a few weeks ago, and felt bad being hush hush but I can finally share! These are the @truebias #rileyoveralls in a straight size 4 (which is the size that most closely corresponded to my waist & hip measurements 27.5” & 36”). I chose the shorts view with no mods. I was paid to test the pattern with no obligation to post. Unfortunately I tested positive for covid right before the testing window opened and worked on these while super sick so please don’t look too closely at my stitching 🫠 I used a thrifted cotton/blend canvas I got from @cleveroctopus. I also used dritz overall buckles and buttons from Joanns but they SUCK please run far far away from that crap and buy the good hardware. The pattern is awesome & although the million pattern pieces was daunting at first, it all came together really organically and I love the fit! Can’t wait to make the longer version soon! I was so frustrated yesterday when making the buttonholes for my Riley overalls. I had to stop and restart several times, removing all the stitches each time. I finally just walked away. Today, I sat down at my sewing machine to try again and found this black strip just laying off to the side. Sometimes, you have to sew a “just for the heck of it project”. I don’t actually have any real need for a pair of overalls, but they always look so cute in ads, and I wanted to make some. After scouring pattern options, I landed on the #rileyoveralls by @truebias because they are a simple, classic overall pattern. There is a full-length view also, in case I ever get a wild hair to make another set. They were defintely a marathon sew, but man, I love them! The fabric is an indigo stretch denim that I tried to do color-remover on. Practicing buttonholes for my overalls. I’m so glad my sewing machine has this attachment with a sensor to make the correct size buttonhole. I’m sewing these overalls on my Janome MC6650 and only got two “emergency stop” warnings sewing this belt loop over the already thick seams! 😅 And then everything was cool. 😎 No broken needles! I saw @alissahthreads make hot pink overalls, so I made hot pink overalls 💖🌺🎀💝🌷 after I saw Alissah in her fuschia Riley overalls, I knew I needed a pair too! I went on the hunt for hot pink denim and wasn’t finding exactly what I was looking for. I bought some white denim from Joann’s on sale and pink rit dye and for straight to work🫡 notes below!: Pattern: #truebiasriley #rileyoveralls by @truebias Fabric: white denim from @joann_stores •I made a size 6, no mods. I was debating on making the 8 but I’m happy I went with the size 6. The overalls were snug on first fit but have relaxed since then, as 100% cotton does. •I used the entire bottle of fuschia rit dye on these and due to some user error some parts of the overalls are a little splotchy. I’m thinking maybe I can put them in for another dye or spot dye them? Not sure if that’s a thing haha but right now it’s appearing kinda like a washed pink in some parts which looks cool but I fear there’s not enough for it to look intentional, however I know I’m being picky! •I do wish I would have added a few inches onto the bottom hem. As of now they’re too short for me to roll up and I’m 5’5 (albeit with longer legs for my height). I wanted to be able to roll them up but can’t at this length. • I used polyester denim/heavy duty white thread to sew and completely forgot that I would need synthetic fabric dye to dye the thread! As a result the thread did not take the dye at all and I’ve got contrast stitching, which I’m actually obsessed with!! I plan on making some jeans in the future that I want to dye to I’ll have to keep that in mind as to whether or what I want contrast stitching. Overall I’m super happy with these and I know they’ll be staple in my wardrobe :)

Introducing my recently completed Riley overalls. I’ve been wearing these weekly since I made them, especially as we get into harvest season! This is the most complex sewing pattern I have worked on so far and I am very proud of how they turned out. I made them in a straight size 6 based on my hip measurements but I probably should have sized down to a size 2 or 4 because they are pretty roomy in the hips and waist. I also lengthened them by 3 inches because I have longer legs for my height. I had the joy of testing the #sewinclusivesizing to 61.5” hip @truebias #truebiasrileyoveralls and I’m, frankly, unabashedly impressed with myself. 😂 After some consideration, I decided to lean in to the classic overalls design and go with traditional mid-toned 10 Oz denim (I think) and a gold contrasting topstitch with Gutermann 70 in ochre. I have a real luxury in my sewing room with two lockstitch sewing machines— so I set one up for topstitching with the ochre in the needle and navy Gutermann 100 in the bobbin— and my other machine had the 100 navy in both needle and bobbin for assembly. If you like the contrast stitching idea and have only one sewing machine like a normal person— some libraries let you check out sewing machines, or find a like-minded sewing friend and get your machines together! Still on the fence as to whether these are amazing or ridiculous. Leaning towards amazing though. I haven’t worn overalls since the early 2000’s and after wearing these most of the day yesterday I feel like I’ve been missing out. 🤣 These are the Riley Overalls, pattern by @truebias, made with the Gather home decor fabric from the Gentler Times collection by @beelori1. This is a fantastic pattern AND there is a series of sew-along posts breaking this make up into 7 parts - super helpful for someone new to constructing something like this (like me!). The home decor fabrics from @rileyblakedesigns are 100% cotton and woven like denim, but not as heavy as say jeans fabric. It’s definitely more substantial than quilting cotton. I used it for my Pixie Peacoat make earlier this year and it is a total pleasure to work with. I do wish I had ordered a bit more of this fabric to pattern match more of the pieces, but I was able to squeeze a size 14 (with 2” added to the legs) out of 3 yards with very little waste so that feels like a win. The baskets going every which way are a little chaotic but I think that only adds to the charm. 🏹🐯🔸Riley Overalls🔸🐯🏹 . The last in my hiking clothes series 😅 . This is the second overalls pattern I've tried and I love them so much! They are easy to make because the instructions are so good, and there's no zipper 🙌🏼 You can never really go wrong with a @truebias pattern! . I made a straight side 6 with the only mod being taking about 1.5" off at the hem. They're designed to be rolled at the hem but I thought I'd come home with a hem full of dust and twigs after a day in the mountains! . The fabric is the third in the Belize cotton canvas collection that I bought at @treelotta (designed by @laurenlesleystudio ). I wish I paid more attention to the placement of the tigers on the back of the legs but I was in a hurry to get these finished in time for the archery event. . The overalls are so comfortable and so much easier to wear than the denim leopard print ones I made last year with a different pattern. With the exception of going to the bathroom, overalls are superior to pants! . The top is a Blomma Tank from a few years ago. The hip bag is the Festival Bag by @kandoucrafts . Making overalls was a whole thing, I tell ya; but so worth it!! I wanted a carhartt utility vibe complete with double fronts. The pattern is designed to have a lot of ease, but I wanted them slightly more fitted, so adjusted accordingly. Super pumped about this versatile addition to my wardrobe! It feels good when something turns out exactly as you envisioned. Details: - double fronts - used the @leila.makes topo pant double front piece and cut off a total of approx 1 1/3 inch from the inseam, and straight across on top instead of keeping that more cowboy looking detail toward the upper-inner edge (see final pic). The double fronts are warm, which I like, but also I tend to wear out knees (the left knee in particular! 😂 🤷🏼‍♀️) fast and can simply sub out the double fronts in a few years when I inevitably wreck the knee. Going for longevity, here, folks. - sized down 2 full sizes (I measure for a 8 and cut a 4). This was actually a very calculated decision, because with a project like this I didn’t want to take any chances of it being too big or small: pulled out my trusty Helene Jeans pattern pieces and compared them with the #rileyoveralls leg pieces, and based on those could have gone with a 2 for a snug fit — but these are overalls so I wanted them a bit more roomy but not way oversized. Super happy with my choice. - heart in coin pocket as usual - hardware was from @blackbirdfabrics - as was the brushed bull denim (teak). Prob my fave fabric of theirs. So soft, wears well, beautiful colour options. - pattern is by @truebias and super well drafted with very clear instructions and diagrams. 🥰

I started making these at 9am this morning, I love them and I’m sure when I’m prancing around in animal kingdom wearing them next week wearing them I’ll have no regrets! Had to give these @truebias Riley overalls their own moment on the grid—because four different black-and-white Ankara prints from @tessworlddesigns came together way too beautifully not to share. These #truebiasriley overalls have become a winter weekend staple. They were too hot to photograph when I made them straight after my summer version, but an outing with @meggipeg and @suestoney last week finally pushed me to photograph them. This novelty denim was purchased from @themakersocietyaustralia It is thick, with a soft, cottony feel. It has a different texture to other denims. The last photograph shows a closeup of the back of the fabric, and you can see raised horizontal threads as well as the traditional twill weave. Lovely to wear. You can see that I didn’t buy quite enough fabric to cut the straps in a single piece. I decided to patch in a scrap of Japanese cotton, instead of denim, to minimise bulk. You can’t see this from the outside, but it is a cute, personal detail. You also can’t see that there are cockatoos on my pocket linings. I wasn’t careful enough with my hem allowances on the straps in this thicker fabric, so the straps ended up a little narrower than my sliders. Something to be aware of for next time (I have buckle and sliders for a shorts version next).

I had the best day today! I got to hold a brand new baby and she was SO perfect and delightful. I brought mom and dad one of my favorite dinners and made the same for my fam — paneer masala with a cucumber tomato yogurt salad and chutney. I holidayed at home this Christmas, which gave me time to sew up a bigger project. I decided on the #truebiasriley overalls in a @jeninuferu print from #neridahansenfabrics This tencel linen is lighter than the recommended fabrics, so I decided to line the bib and straps. My lining fabric is a beautiful quality linen that has been in my stash for years. I have a lot of brown fabrics in my stash because I used to think that the colour suited me, but then I realised that I never feel good in brown, so it doesn’t matter if it suits me or not, I’m not going to wear it much. Good as lining though. I had to change the construction techniques a little for the lining. I left off the front pockets because I didn’t want to cut up this gorgeous print any more than I had to. Hardware from @kylieandthemachine I wasn’t planning on thus being my Christmas outfit, but I finished it on Christmas Eve, so of course I wore it the next day.

The Riley Overalls are here! I got lots of questions when I wore these a few weeks ago, and felt bad being hush hush but I can finally share! These are the @truebias #rileyoveralls in a straight size 4 (which is the size that most closely corresponded to my waist & hip measurements 27.5” & 36”). I chose the shorts view with no mods. I was paid to test the pattern with no obligation to post. Unfortunately I tested positive for covid right before the testing window opened and worked on these while super sick so please don’t look too closely at my stitching 🫠 I used a thrifted cotton/blend canvas I got from @cleveroctopus. I also used dritz overall buckles and buttons from Joanns but they SUCK please run far far away from that crap and buy the good hardware. The pattern is awesome & although the million pattern pieces was daunting at first, it all came together really organically and I love the fit! Can’t wait to make the longer version soon! I was so frustrated yesterday when making the buttonholes for my Riley overalls. I had to stop and restart several times, removing all the stitches each time. I finally just walked away. Today, I sat down at my sewing machine to try again and found this black strip just laying off to the side. These overalls! 💗 I have lots to say about these for anyone who is eyeing this pattern. But the TLDR version is I love them and they’re super comfy and I’m happy with the finished product! My hip measurement put me between a size 8 and 10 but after looking at the finished measurements I went with the size 8. I’m glad I did because there is plenty of ease in the hips. There were some things about the pattern that didn’t make sense to me (could totally be a user error though). The straps were too wide to fit in the sliders and I even thought about that before topstitching but the straps are still a little bunched and it bugs me. So next time I’ll do that more carefully and make sure the bottom 6-8 inches are the exact width of the sliders. Another mod I made was a double line of topstitching in the inseam and ironed the seam allowances toward the front instead of the one front one back recommended in the pattern. I think jeans need that topstitching on the inseam to keep them strong? I don’t know, just seemed like the right thing to do. I bought 2.5 yards even though the pattern called for 3 and I had enough. Also buttonholes on jeans are the hardest. I really need to get myself a proper sewing machine but I tried this Christmas and it was broken within 3 hours and after trying to get it fixed I was told to just return it. Ugh! So buttonholes still kinda suck, and I don’t think I’ll make anything with buttonholes until I have a better machine. I’m 5’6” and I added an inch to the pants and I’m glad I did because I like where they land. The pattern was really well done overall but some steps were confusing to me but the online sew along was helpful for more pictures to understand the construction. All I want to wear are sweaters and overalls so I’m happy to add another one to my wardrobe! I think I’ll be making these again. Practicing buttonholes for my overalls. I’m so glad my sewing machine has this attachment with a sensor to make the correct size buttonhole. I’m sewing these overalls on my Janome MC6650 and only got two “emergency stop” warnings sewing this belt loop over the already thick seams! 😅 And then everything was cool. 😎 No broken needles! I had the joy of testing the #sewinclusivesizing to 61.5” hip @truebias #truebiasrileyoveralls and I’m, frankly, unabashedly impressed with myself. 😂 After some consideration, I decided to lean in to the classic overalls design and go with traditional mid-toned 10 Oz denim (I think) and a gold contrasting topstitch with Gutermann 70 in ochre. I have a real luxury in my sewing room with two lockstitch sewing machines— so I set one up for topstitching with the ochre in the needle and navy Gutermann 100 in the bobbin— and my other machine had the 100 navy in both needle and bobbin for assembly. If you like the contrast stitching idea and have only one sewing machine like a normal person— some libraries let you check out sewing machines, or find a like-minded sewing friend and get your machines together! 🍓 My second and final entry for #sewfruity25 is the most amazing fabric ever from @fabricgodmother the Miami denim 🍌 I love this fabric so much and was so scared to cut into it. I had so many patterns in my head for this fabric but finally decided on the Riley overalls by @truebias . I’m in love!! 😍 I made the size 12 in the short leg version. I even add button holes and not metal snaps (if you know you know) 😂 I have made the Riley once before but in the full Length version. I adore sewing the Riley overalls all the top stitching it’s such a satisfying sew. I was so frustrated yesterday when making the buttonholes for my Riley overalls. I had to stop and restart several times, removing all the stitches each time. I finally just walked away. Today, I sat down at my sewing machine to try again and found this black strip just laying off to the side. These overalls! 💗 I have lots to say about these for anyone who is eyeing this pattern. But the TLDR version is I love them and they’re super comfy and I’m happy with the finished product! My hip measurement put me between a size 8 and 10 but after looking at the finished measurements I went with the size 8. I’m glad I did because there is plenty of ease in the hips. There were some things about the pattern that didn’t make sense to me (could totally be a user error though). The straps were too wide to fit in the sliders and I even thought about that before topstitching but the straps are still a little bunched and it bugs me. So next time I’ll do that more carefully and make sure the bottom 6-8 inches are the exact width of the sliders. Another mod I made was a double line of topstitching in the inseam and ironed the seam allowances toward the front instead of the one front one back recommended in the pattern. I think jeans need that topstitching on the inseam to keep them strong? I don’t know, just seemed like the right thing to do. I bought 2.5 yards even though the pattern called for 3 and I had enough. Also buttonholes on jeans are the hardest. I really need to get myself a proper sewing machine but I tried this Christmas and it was broken within 3 hours and after trying to get it fixed I was told to just return it. Ugh! So buttonholes still kinda suck, and I don’t think I’ll make anything with buttonholes until I have a better machine. I’m 5’6” and I added an inch to the pants and I’m glad I did because I like where they land. The pattern was really well done overall but some steps were confusing to me but the online sew along was helpful for more pictures to understand the construction. All I want to wear are sweaters and overalls so I’m happy to add another one to my wardrobe! I think I’ll be making these again. The Riley Overalls are here! I got lots of questions when I wore these a few weeks ago, and felt bad being hush hush but I can finally share! These are the @truebias #rileyoveralls in a straight size 4 (which is the size that most closely corresponded to my waist & hip measurements 27.5” & 36”). I chose the shorts view with no mods. I was paid to test the pattern with no obligation to post. Unfortunately I tested positive for covid right before the testing window opened and worked on these while super sick so please don’t look too closely at my stitching 🫠 I used a thrifted cotton/blend canvas I got from @cleveroctopus. I also used dritz overall buckles and buttons from Joanns but they SUCK please run far far away from that crap and buy the good hardware. The pattern is awesome & although the million pattern pieces was daunting at first, it all came together really organically and I love the fit! Can’t wait to make the longer version soon! Sometimes, you have to sew a “just for the heck of it project”. I don’t actually have any real need for a pair of overalls, but they always look so cute in ads, and I wanted to make some. After scouring pattern options, I landed on the #rileyoveralls by @truebias because they are a simple, classic overall pattern. There is a full-length view also, in case I ever get a wild hair to make another set. They were defintely a marathon sew, but man, I love them! The fabric is an indigo stretch denim that I tried to do color-remover on. I’m sewing these overalls on my Janome MC6650 and only got two “emergency stop” warnings sewing this belt loop over the already thick seams! 😅 And then everything was cool. 😎 No broken needles! I had the joy of testing the #sewinclusivesizing to 61.5” hip @truebias #truebiasrileyoveralls and I’m, frankly, unabashedly impressed with myself. 😂 After some consideration, I decided to lean in to the classic overalls design and go with traditional mid-toned 10 Oz denim (I think) and a gold contrasting topstitch with Gutermann 70 in ochre. I have a real luxury in my sewing room with two lockstitch sewing machines— so I set one up for topstitching with the ochre in the needle and navy Gutermann 100 in the bobbin— and my other machine had the 100 navy in both needle and bobbin for assembly. If you like the contrast stitching idea and have only one sewing machine like a normal person— some libraries let you check out sewing machines, or find a like-minded sewing friend and get your machines together! Practicing buttonholes for my overalls. I’m so glad my sewing machine has this attachment with a sensor to make the correct size buttonhole. It’s the time of the year when getting decent pics is so hard! But here we go.. I’ve absolutely loved making #TrueBiasRiley this week. The top stitching has taken my mind, the concentration. The @truebias ‘sewalong’ was great to follow too. Orange top stitching is threat forward on the best denim that behaved amazingly whilst seeing though the layers @fabricgodmother I sewed UK 12 and added 2 inches to the leg length I maybes could size down one but they are a relaxed fit and they are feeling lovely to wear.
