I just finished sewing up these Lander Pants for my tween daughter and I can't wait for her to try them on. We used some patchwork denim that she picked out from JoAnns, omitted the pockets, and used the zipper expansion for a super simple version of this pattern. some picture of my new #landerpants. First made a (wearable) toile and the changes I decided on were: a curved waistband to prevent gaping in the back, a slight (1/2 in) extension in the front crotch and wider darts in the back. I left them at normal lenght but made a very wide seam to leave the ankles bare. I did all the seams with my covermaschine twice so that there are 6 stitch lines - just a design element. Also the element on the leg is just for fun, I think it looks slightly japanese 😅 I paired it with my new striped shirt which took me A LONG TIME, since I handbasted all the seams to align them as perfectly as possible. for almost all my tops I use the same pattern and hack it in whatever i want (this time not necessary, wanted a basic top) ps: first time posting with the sewover50 hashtag, which is my favorite. i still have 6 weeks to go, but hope to be accepted early 😅 #truebias #truebiaslander #missymelianskreativesstoffchaos #sewover50 #imademyclothes

#MeMadeMay Day 31: THE #LanderPants 😍😍😍! I cannnnn't believe I made these. I used to ooh and ahh over this pattern, thinking it was too complicated for me. This month I decided to give it a shot and I am so glad I did. It was like sewing up a jigsaw puzzle. Every piece fit together so perfectly, you can tell that @truebias put a lot of love and care into this pattern. Plus, this 9oz bull denim from @blackbirdfabrics was a dream to sew! I can't wait to order more and sew a few more pairs. This was such a satisfying make. . I sewed up a size 10 waist and graded out to a size 12 hip. My measurements are #b35w28h42 (also in my bio). Next time, I'm going to do a size 8 waist and grade out to the 12 in the hip, as the denim loosens as you wear it. I am also going to attempt a sway back adjustment and a full butt adjustment to improve the fit in the 🍑. I'm so proud of this pair though! Especially for my first pair of fitted pants. . Here are the finished #landershorts 🩳! Tackling these took me up another learning curve — I felt really daunted about doing a zipper fly! But, as ever, it was just a series of small, do-able steps, and @truebias gives SUCH good instructions. Between the written details and the diagrams it wasn’t nearly as scary as I feared. . If you’d like to see more about my process, I did a sew along for this and it’s in my highlights! ✨ . Pattern: #landerpants / #landershorts by @truebias — I measured for between a 6 and 8 and made the 6 with no adjustments to the main short (but did have to adjust the waistband as it gaped somewhat on me). Just casually picking apples in my well loved and we'll worn #LanderPants and #BathurstTop! I wear these jeans almost every day. They were sewn with a size 8 waist and graded out to a 12 hip, I curved the waistband, scooped out the crotch curve, and added a touch to the rise. These were made in a 10oz Italian non-stretch denim from @blackbirdfabrics. The @stitchwitchpatterns Bathurst Top was sewn up in a Size 6 and I sewed in the ties criss-crossed instead of having them loose. I sewed this up in a 6oz Tencil Twill also from #blackbirdfabrics. a moment for the buttons. this button fly turned out so much better than the one on the pink shorts did - you live and you learn. I always struggle to figure out how to keep my buttons closer to center front to help prevent the spreading and pulling along the button fly. The Landers were designed after a pair of boy scout shorts that I wore in high school. I am SO EXCITED that I finished my #SeamworkAudrey! I am over the moon with this pattern and this make. This ended up being much less daunting than I thought it would be thanks to the online @seamwork class. It was my first time trying out welt pockets and they turned out so well! Having the video tutorial made figuring them out a breeze. This jacket ended up being so fun to sew and for the first time ever, I didn't have to pick any stitches because of any major mistakes!!! ☺️ . This Audrey is made with the 9oz bull denim from @blackbirdfabrics. I would absolutely recommend this fabric! Im going to buy more in different colours. . I sewed up a Size 6 with no adjustments. Sewed myself some purple pants and I could not be more delighted! It’s the #landerpants of course, in a purple denim I impulse purchased the last time I ran out for thread 🤣 I keep meaning to do the zipper add on for these pants but the button fly is so easy it’s hard to motivate! My standard mods for this pattern are to deepen the darts, take an extra punch out of the center back, and sew the side seams in such a way that I take a little extra out of the back pant legs (it was hard the first time I sewed this pattern but by now I’m used to it)!
