Ich musste mal wieder ein easy Jersey Projekt dazwischenschieben - ihr kennt das ja - ohne viel Anleitung studieren oder komplizierte Nähte... Das #brynncardigan von @truebias habe ich ja schon in der Top Variante genäht, nun war die Version als Kleid dran. Die Länge musste ich an den Rest meines vorhandenen Stoffes anpassen, wobei ich es auch ursprünglich nur ein paar Zentimeter länger haben wollte... Wieder habe das Kleid mit einer richtigen Knopfleiste genäht - zum richtig Aufknöpfen - um noch mehr Möglichkeiten zum Styling zu haben. Last lingering photoless make. I used the last scrap of Amour Vert leopard print deadstock to “toile” @truebias #brynncardigan This is an 8, crop view, sleeve length partially dictated by scrap size I think. I have found that I generally feel more comfortable when I size up in body hugging knits so my next one will be a 10. I have to Tetris this a bit and one of the front panels is cross grain. I rarely sew with jersey but as soon as I saw the @truebias Brynn cardigan I knew that I wanted to make ALL the views. While I’ve been waiting for a parcel to arrive from the UK I decided to make a toile using a navy and sparkly silver striped rib knit from my stash. I cut a straight size 4 (US) and two hours later I’d made this. I need to put a plastic snap inside the button band at the bust as it pulls open slightly, but otherwise it’s a perfect fit. The fabric was a remnant from @guthrieghani a few years ago. Note to self - do not say this will be an easy sew and do not sew when you are feeling stressed! The Brynn Cardigan + Modal Jersey = ☺️ Version 1 of 2 that I made. If you’ve ever wanted a simple garment that can be a dress, a tunic top, and a long knit jacket-type layer, you might want to take a peek at the Brynn by @truebias . It has several options for sleeve and hem lengths, and I made the long-long version in my current favourite knit — the modal jersey from Surge Fabrics — which totally fits the bill. I increased the width and changed the construction of the neckband (mine has shoulder seams instead of a centre back one) to make sure it would be gape-free with the FBA I did, and it worked great! I explain the process in my latest YT video, so head over there to check that out if you’re curious. I also angled out the side seams from the hip down for some slight A-line swish. I’ve talked about the modal jersey from @surgefabricshop before, but have to repeat how much I love it — I would buy some in every colour if I could! I also made my husband some underwear out of the scraps and now he’s hooked as well. It’s the weight/hand/stretch/recovery/cool-to-the-touch combo that I’ve just never found in any other jersey. My latest makes are two #truebiasbrynn #brynncardigan - a lovely straightforward make. The blue jersey was so fine which made it tricky to sew. It’s stretched out a bit in the v neck but looks good on. The flower buttons add colour (it’s me after all) and are from boyes. The second was in a thicker animal print jersey. The coral buttons are from my local market as they have a great haberdashery stall. I will be making more of these!

I made a #brynncardigan by @truebias with yellow paisley fabric from @voguefabrics. I loved it so much that I made a second in a rayon wide rib knit that was gifted to me. For both, I sized up and added extra ease to the hips. I skipped the buttonholes and simply attached the buttons through both layers. This #brynncardigan sat half way finished on my floor for about two weeks before I picked it up to finish it. I thought I wasn’t going to like it and I was worried it was going to be too tight to button, but it’s actually not too bad! Still, I have some notes 😄 👇🏻 I made a size 6 (one size up from my recommended size, bust 34”) but might want to try a size 8 for more ease. Although I do like where the shoulders hit…the armholes could have more ease. I’ve gotten really used to oversized/loose tops so it just feels weird wearing such a fitted top, but I do like it as a different top option. I made the hip length and I prefer it tucked it, so I may go back and shorten it so it’s not so bulky when tucked. I knew I wasn’t going to use it as a cardigan, so I sewed the buttons through the button band. Not sure if I will make another one yet…unless I find myself wearing this often and want one in a different fabric. The v neck was a little low for me so I just put the first button higher. The instructions were clear and straightforward and I like how it comes with several different views (I’m considering the sleeveless view for summer). . . . Here's my 2nd version of the @truebias #BrynnCardigan! I made this somewhere between the full length & the cropped version, and I think the length is perfect for me. I bought this fabric at @gstreetfabrics in the remnants room during a meetup. Since there were no fiber content labels on anything in the remnants room, I did a burn test and I'm pretty sure the material is cotton based on that. I used wonder tape to help me match up the stripes on the seams, and I'm never going back to just pins. I made more things that look pretty in Italy (but what doesn‘t?)! A very simple skirt: the Mave Skirt by True Bias that I’ve made a number of times in several variations. This is the single-tier midi length view, but I believe I’ve lengthened it a bit. Maybe it’s actually the maxi length; can’t remember! What I do remember is that I made the waistband quite a bit narrower, for that 90s vibe. Speaking of 90s vibe: the top is also a True Bias pattern that I’ve made several times: the Brynn cardigan. I used a very soft, very stretchy cotton pointelle. And I just sewed it shut with those buttons, because there was no chance in hell I was going to stitch buttonholes into this fabric. I was all over the @truebias Brynn pattern as soon it came out. I loved everything about it and could tell it would soon be a TNT for me. I just needed to find the right fabric. And then along came this beautiful floral in the @fabricmart monthly mailer. It was a match made in heaven.😇 I made view B but absolutely plan to make all of the views. I printed sizes 10 and 12, gotta love the layers feature, and graded from a 10 in the bust to a 12 in the hips. I also shortened it by 1”. True story, all I can see when I look at these pictures is that my bra doesn’t fit so I went out and bought a new one to specifically wear with this shirt 😂 Ok, I’m exaggerating a little because I will wear the new bra with other clothes, too, but this was the impetus I needed to get a new one that actually fits! But anyway, this top is a hacked @truebias #truebiasbrynn out of the same pointelle I used for the long sleeve version that’s a couple posts back on my grid. All the details are in my @threadloop.app profile because IG captions are clunky. This shirt has been on repeat this summer and I want to make another one but I don’t think I have any suitable fabric and I’m trying to use up some of my stash right now. But this one will be getting plenty of wear in the meantime.

The Brynn Cardigan + Modal Jersey = ☺️ Version 1 of 2 that I made. If you’ve ever wanted a simple garment that can be a dress, a tunic top, and a long knit jacket-type layer, you might want to take a peek at the Brynn by @truebias . It has several options for sleeve and hem lengths, and I made the long-long version in my current favourite knit — the modal jersey from Surge Fabrics — which totally fits the bill. I increased the width and changed the construction of the neckband (mine has shoulder seams instead of a centre back one) to make sure it would be gape-free with the FBA I did, and it worked great! I explain the process in my latest YT video, so head over there to check that out if you’re curious. I also angled out the side seams from the hip down for some slight A-line swish. I’ve talked about the modal jersey from @surgefabricshop before, but have to repeat how much I love it — I would buy some in every colour if I could! I also made my husband some underwear out of the scraps and now he’s hooked as well. It’s the weight/hand/stretch/recovery/cool-to-the-touch combo that I’ve just never found in any other jersey. On s’entend qu’il a fait chaud 🥵☀️dans les derniers jours! Heureusement que je venais tout juste de terminer de coudre mon #truebiasbrynn afin d’affronter cette chaleur accablante. J’avais cette pointelle jaune soleil qui attendait le projet parfait depuis des années. En me basant sur leur charte de grandeur, je suis une taille 2 et le « fit » est parfait. J’y suis allé pour la coupe aux hanches (il est aussi possible de faire une version cropped top ou même une robe) version sans manche (manche courte et longue aussi offert dans le patron). La pointelle est un tissu très élastique mais qui ne reprend pas sa forme facilement.. j’ai donc glissé un elastique de 6mm dans les emmanchures afin d’empêcher que les bandes de devenir tout croche. This top is the Brynn Cardigan from @truebias which I’ve already sewn up FOUR times! It’s such a classic, simple design that sews up quickly. I’ve sized up one size from the one suggested for my measurements, because I dislike too much negative ease in my clothing. The only real change I’ve made is that I sewed the buttons closed rather than making buttonholes, so functionality this top is a pullover. Brynn no. 2 (of 2) ☺️ I had the tiniest of scraps left over of this striped olive rib knit, but by adding some contrast ribbing at the waist, I got it to a length I like! I widened the arm bands to match how I altered the neckband (see previous post and/or my video on YT). I also stole the idea of just sewing the buttons straight through so the front is permanently closed (no buttonholes) from Whitney at @tomkatstitcherycarmel , as I know that’s how I’ll always wear this, but I still wanted the cute look of these olive buttons from my stash. Today is brought to you by the True Bias Brynn Dress, which I made in a rather fetching Nerida Hansen French Terry that I bought from @jennystitchesfabrics quite a while ago. I actually made this in the cold weather, dreaming of the day when the yellow thing in the sky would show up. Well, friends, I think it’s safe to say it’s well and truly appeared! ☀️ I enjoyed making this pattern. I find you can’t really go wrong with a True Bias one as in my experience, they’re all very easy to follow. I made the buttonholes but I didn’t bother opening them up as I stitched the buttons through both sides, given that there is no need to unfasten it. I had to be a bit careful with the pattern placement, given the size of the flower middles (there is probably a proper word for this, but I’m not floral orientated!) and I do have one slight flower boob, but I don’t think it’s too bad!! 😂 This is such a nice, comfy fabric and lovely to work with. My first postpartum make is this Brynn top by @truebias. Now that I'm nursing baby all the time, button front tops/ dresses are my new favorite thing. I knew I had to wear my floral block print #emmadresspattern by @silversagapatterns today for this prompt. I was going to wear the green cardigan from day 7, but to make it wildflower/shopping appropriate, I needed comfy sandals and these felt too clunky with the delicate dress/cardi combo. So I paired it with the @truebias #truebiasbrynn vest from day 16 with a belt and I absolutely love this outfit! One of the things I really love about the Emma dress is that it is beautiful on its own, but it is also super great for layering! I did a hack on this Emma dress, I cut the skirt piece to the length I wanted for the first tier and then added a gathered panel along the bottom for a tiered skirt. True Bias Brynn Hack 💛 After seeing many a tie front vest I decided I fancied sewing up something similar - my knitting is snail pace so would take me far too long 🐌 I used the True Bias Brynn Cardigan as a base, but rather than sewing a button placket, I created 4 x ties and sewed them in between the body and placket. This was such a speedy sew and used up a teeny remnant too - I had a 85cm x 115cm rib knit that had been in my stash forever. I decided to air on the side of caution and sized up one to make a size 6 (of the cropped short sleeve tee style) and am happy with the fit - my measurements are in my bio for reference. Overall I’m super pleased with how this turned out, it only took a few hours to make and used so little fabric - I’ll definitely be making another! I've got nothing for this one. 😂😅 I have exactly zero items in my wardrobe that could be described as 70's anything. Ok, maybe that's not true, I do have a suede jacket. But it's not exactly 70's and it's the wrong weather for it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So, this morning, I finished this #truebiasbrynn vest that I started LAST YEAR but I was too lazy to sew on the buttonholes and buttons. I think because I don't love the color of this taupe, it's a little too cool for my coloring. But with a white skirt that brightens it up a little, it sort of works I think. And I added some rafia because I feel like that works for the 70's vibe and these shoes are the most platformy I have. My latest makes are two #truebiasbrynn #brynncardigan - a lovely straightforward make. The blue jersey was so fine which made it tricky to sew. It’s stretched out a bit in the v neck but looks good on. The flower buttons add colour (it’s me after all) and are from boyes. The second was in a thicker animal print jersey. The coral buttons are from my local market as they have a great haberdashery stall. I will be making more of these!

Ich musste mal wieder ein easy Jersey Projekt dazwischenschieben - ihr kennt das ja - ohne viel Anleitung studieren oder komplizierte Nähte... Das #brynncardigan von @truebias habe ich ja schon in der Top Variante genäht, nun war die Version als Kleid dran. Die Länge musste ich an den Rest meines vorhandenen Stoffes anpassen, wobei ich es auch ursprünglich nur ein paar Zentimeter länger haben wollte... Wieder habe das Kleid mit einer richtigen Knopfleiste genäht - zum richtig Aufknöpfen - um noch mehr Möglichkeiten zum Styling zu haben. Mir gefällt auch der lange Ärmel super gut, in dieses #jerseykleid kann man sich richtig gut reinkuscheln, wenn es doch mal ein bisschen frischer wird . I followed the pattern hack on the True Bias blog to make a crew neck & I did some color blocking with leftover lightweight sweater knit from @blackbirdfabrics which I originally used for a couple Nikko tops. *Sew the Look Sezane Edition* Okay Sezane, $90 for this shirt? I love it, but no. Enter the True Bias Brynn Cardigan with the crew neck hack from their blog. Pretty spot on if I do say so myself! I found this floral rib knit fabric on Etsy and purchased 2 yards at $14.99/yard. I definitely have enough to make at least a tank, if not a T-shirt out of the leftovers. I didn’t make any modifications to the fit other than modifying the neckline per the blog instructions. I really took my time to sew this up carefully and everything was going so well, until it wasn’t. Buttonholes, ugh. I think the fabric was too slippery and my machine was making a mess of the fabric. I just sewed the buttons through the button band as I’ll never wear it unbuttoned anyway. Here's my 2nd version of the @truebias #BrynnCardigan! I made this somewhere between the full length & the cropped version, and I think the length is perfect for me. I bought this fabric at @gstreetfabrics in the remnants room during a meetup. Since there were no fiber content labels on anything in the remnants room, I did a burn test and I'm pretty sure the material is cotton based on that. I used wonder tape to help me match up the stripes on the seams, and I'm never going back to just pins. Hey - still here, still sewing. Really slow in posting. I am a fan of True Bias patterns and when the Brynn cardigan was released this past Fall, I snapped it up immediately. I fairly quickly made two versions for myself - a sleeveless version and a short sleeved version. Both with fabric from my stash - a cream floral ribbed knit from our soon to be dearly departed Joann Fabrics and a mustardy floral knit from actually departed Girl Charlee fabrics. I absolutely love these tops! They are a step above a t-shirt and they both match almost everything in my wardrobe. Sorry for no action shots this time. I’ll try to do a follow up post with them being worn. When my daughter saw them, she asked for her own versions. The sleeveless version is a gray ribbed knit is from FabricMart Fabrics and the yellow floral for the short sleeved version is also from Joanns (I really am going to miss having that store just up the street!). I have enough of the gray ribbed knit to hopefully make the long dress version. And I have some off-white pointelle to make a long sleeved version. I made a size 10 for me and a size 8 for my daughter. The pattern instructions are straightforward and the top goes together quickly - just like all other True Bias patterns I have made! True Bias Brynn A knit dress is so simple and comfortable but I don’t make or wear them as often lately. I got this @artgalleryfabrics Always Do Amour knit fabric kindly gifted from Art Gallery. I haven’t used their jersey in a while and I almost forgot how soft it is & the best quality jersey. I was debating between the True Bias or Zoey for this fabric but decided #truebiasbrynn for the transitional season. I love that I can push these sleeves up & wear with or without tights depending on the weather. I made a size 8 in the long sleeve dress version. I sewed it all on my serger, used my cover stitch for the hems & sewing machine for button holes & buttons. This pattern is super quick, just a little patience for the neckband. I will be making a short sleeve and maybe sleeveless for summer! True bias Brynn cardigan with a rounded neckline hack (on her blog!) This is my second time making this pattern- I love it so much. I made the vest but haven’t gotten around to posting it and I have another planned. The pointelle fabric is from Joann. Cute cute. And paired with a #sommarcamisole in a matching print. This pointelle has a tiny bit of spandex, 2%, so I 🤞 and hoped for the best and it’s good. This #brynncardigan sat half way finished on my floor for about two weeks before I picked it up to finish it. I thought I wasn’t going to like it and I was worried it was going to be too tight to button, but it’s actually not too bad! Still, I have some notes 😄 👇🏻 I made a size 6 (one size up from my recommended size, bust 34”) but might want to try a size 8 for more ease. Although I do like where the shoulders hit…the armholes could have more ease. I’ve gotten really used to oversized/loose tops so it just feels weird wearing such a fitted top, but I do like it as a different top option. I made the hip length and I prefer it tucked it, so I may go back and shorten it so it’s not so bulky when tucked. I knew I wasn’t going to use it as a cardigan, so I sewed the buttons through the button band. Not sure if I will make another one yet…unless I find myself wearing this often and want one in a different fabric. The v neck was a little low for me so I just put the first button higher. The instructions were clear and straightforward and I like how it comes with several different views (I’m considering the sleeveless view for summer). . . . I rarely sew with jersey but as soon as I saw the @truebias Brynn cardigan I knew that I wanted to make ALL the views. While I’ve been waiting for a parcel to arrive from the UK I decided to make a toile using a navy and sparkly silver striped rib knit from my stash. I cut a straight size 4 (US) and two hours later I’d made this. I need to put a plastic snap inside the button band at the bust as it pulls open slightly, but otherwise it’s a perfect fit. The fabric was a remnant from @guthrieghani a few years ago. I made more things that look pretty in Italy (but what doesn‘t?)! A very simple skirt: the Mave Skirt by True Bias that I’ve made a number of times in several variations. This is the single-tier midi length view, but I believe I’ve lengthened it a bit. Maybe it’s actually the maxi length; can’t remember! What I do remember is that I made the waistband quite a bit narrower, for that 90s vibe. Speaking of 90s vibe: the top is also a True Bias pattern that I’ve made several times: the Brynn cardigan. I used a very soft, very stretchy cotton pointelle. And I just sewed it shut with those buttons, because there was no chance in hell I was going to stitch buttonholes into this fabric.
