Il était temps que je termine cette robe, et pour cause, c’est une robe de grossesse et d’allaitement et que BB#2 arrive en juillet ! Je l’ai adaptée avec un ajout de poches de chaque côté. Another languishing sewing project finished! Finally getting some things done with Steve on sabbatical from work and watching the boys more ☺️ This sat almost finished for over 2 years, since my last pregnancy. I had doubts about the size I chose and set it aside, but the stretchy fabric is luckily forgiving (sizing notes below). My other problem with this dress is that while it is supposed to also be a nursing garment, I’m going to look very pregnant still if I put this on postpartum with that snug empire waist. My belly does not “snap back” at all from past experience 🙃 But that’s okay, I’ll enjoy it as a maternity garment for the next 3.5 months and just wear it around the house postpartum 😊 . For reference on sizing: pre-pregnancy my bust was 34” and hips 40” but I think my bust is closer to 35” now. I cut an XS bodice, S front skirt (with bigger pleats to fit into XS waistband), and S back skirt graded to XS at the waist. The XS bodice fits fine but my hips measure for the size M so I should have graded the skirt out another size, at least for the back skirt which is more fitted, or used the pleated skirt piece for front AND back. . #megannielsenpatterns #MNAmber #mnamberdress #portlandsews #maternitysewing #25weekspregnant #sewistsofinstagram

Another crappy selfie! When retail can’t provide a nightgown that has easy boob access AND butt coverage, we hack! My take one the @megannielsenpatterns Amber. I love wearing a light dress to bed when I need to get out of bed 20 times a night like you do for breastfeeding but all the nightgowns fins are either “cutesy” oversized T-shirt or sexy-time négligé. I still need to tweak some things on it but all in all I am super happy i managed to make this. And it took me less than 3 hours! Totally want to make a second one if I find a light enough fabric. This one is a bit on the heavy side. Finally made something for myself! After snagging some of the last meters of the tropical flowers fabric from @tricotstoffen.nl I decided to make the Amber dress with it. It was the first time I made this pattern. Imo it fits on the large side. Even with my huge belly it still is rather roomy so I’ll probably take it in. It was also super long. I’m not a fan of how they suggest to finish the edges. Still the pattern is easy to sort out and assemble. Will for sure make it again. #But the fabric/pattern combo is super comfortable and I’ve already worn this a few times. Another Maternity make using @megannielsenpatterns ‘Amber’ pattern. Best thing about this is that it doubles as a Nursing dress with a Modesty panel with concealed nursing openings at the front. So I’ll get to wear this for a few months if not more. Made from @spotlightstores Double Knit Ponte Fabric. I love a pattern that can be made entirely with an overlocker and Coverstitch machine. Today’s #memademay2019 outfit is the first appearance this year of my old @megannielsenpatterns #mnamber dress that I made after having Gabriel, and took out the pleats to make it non-maternity. I love wearing this dress but I don’t think it looks the best on me. Partly because it’s getting a bit saggy and oversized, and partly because the polka dots are too close together for my liking. I prefer my spots more widely spaced! I’m wearing it with my @jalie_patterns #jalie2919 cardigan, which I needed this morning before the day warmed up. - I’m now starting to struggle to put together new combinations of clothes which is good as it’s forcing me to try putting things together that I haven’t tried before.
