Finally I've got time to share my new favourite autumn outfit: a comfy sweater with a high waisted pencil skirt. . It's the #astoriasweater of @seamworkmag made in a cute swan fabric 💛. It's a comfy jacquard fabric of @lillestoff I bought years ago at @hazeltjesstoffen. It's just perfect for this sweater pattern, which is such an easy to sew pattern by the way. . And I love it with this high waisted pencil skirt in a solid deep green colour. It's one of my favourites skirt patterns: the #mnaxel of @megannielsenpatterns. I wear my two black versions (a short and longer one) both a lot! This one is made in a tencel ponte of #meetmilkfabric at @metermeterdk. Mit kleinen Gepäck unterwegs- deshalb hier nochmal der schwarze Rock. Weil jetzt der Frühling so allmählich kommt, wollte ich doch tagsüber nicht ganz in schwarz herumlaufen und hatte mein gelb gefärbtes Shirt an. Auch dieses ist schon länger in meinem Schrank. Letzten Sommer angefangen, jetzt endlich fertig. Ein kleines Paillettentop, einfach glatt rechts gestrickt ohne Anleitung. Mir gefallen so kurze Tops zu Röcken oder Hosen mit hohem Bund. Da darf dann auch im fortgeschrittenen Alter der Bauch ein bisschen blitzen. Einen dazu passenden Rock aus khaki Leinen habe ich in Arbeit. Ich musste nur das Bündchen nochmal abtrennen und kleiner machen, weil der Rock wirklich in der Taille sitzen soll. Gestern im ZKM Karlsruhe in der Ausstellung Renaissance 3.0. Sehr spannend, es geht um die künstlerische Umsetzung von Naturwissenschaft und hat sehr viele spielerische Elemente. Hier kann man Töne erzeugen, in dem man an einem nachgebildeten Spinnennetz zupft. Still finding firsts in sewing ✂️ my first knit placket on my first polo shirt… & pretty happy with how it turned out (perfectly imperfect, just so you know). Top // #brookepolo by @sinclairpatterns Fabric Cotton Pique Knit from @wearethefabricstore - it pressed and sewed beautifully and is perfect for this pattern. Will be buying more! Pattern details: I made the US 6 and the fit is a bit snug. Next time I’ll add a smidge of wodth to the body… or maybe just bigger SA overall as the 1/4in SA is not what I’m used to (I prefer 3/8in for knits). Instructions are comprehensive and included colour photos and lots of sewing tips. Tricot interfacing used for collar & placket. I shorted the placket by an inch. Biggish scrap busting brought to you by my dearest @darncheapfabrics , specifically the soon-to-be-closed-forever-and-I-may-never-forgive-you-but-thanks-for-the-20% Heidelberg branch 😢😭😩 You may recognize the giant houndstooth (remnant from my #seamworkjill ) as the bodice, and fluffy orange knit (leftover from the #marlosweater ) as the sleeves of the #lindensweatshirt by @grainlinestudio . Both fabrics are used on the ‘wrong’ side for maximal textural stimulation. The feline knit making up this #mnaxel skirt (by @megannielsenpatterns ) is also from DCF. Pic 2 depicts the current store and soon-to-be opened Fitzroy branch - with the current lockdown, another visit prior its demise seems unlikely. I am seized with a daunting sense of loss. Why did I not grab that faux fur? Surely I need another 23 green metal snaps? It’s no secret ‘round these parts that we are fans of oilskin. A recent project off the machine and onto the blog is a tutorial for a tablet cover. Easily sized to any tablet/devise. I love that we can combine brand-spanking-new, fast-paced technology with the age old and slow paced craft of sewing. I’ve made one for my laptop, and it brings me joy each and every time I take it out of its cover. Definitely one of the joys of making. It’s an easy project - suitable for all levels.... I think I’ll be encouraging my not-so-little-anymore little people to make them for themselves. Just as a gentle reminder that the world doesn’t have to always be digital. I am not spouting nonsense when I say we’ve chased off the blues, and are waking up to a Monday where all will hopefully be pour the better! Finally I've got time to share my new favourite autumn outfit: a comfy sweater with a high waisted pencil skirt. . It's the #astoriasweater of @seamworkmag made in a cute swan fabric 💛. It's a comfy jacquard fabric of @lillestoff I bought years ago at @hazeltjesstoffen. It's just perfect for this sweater pattern, which is such an easy to sew pattern by the way. . And I love it with this high waisted pencil skirt in a solid deep green colour. It's one of my favourites skirt patterns: the #mnaxel of @megannielsenpatterns. I wear my two black versions (a short and longer one) both a lot! This one is made in a tencel ponte of #meetmilkfabric at @metermeterdk.
