What a cute pattern! Have seen so many lovely versions of the #noratank and thought I’d try it myself. This is more of a wearable toile made from the quilting cotton I lined my recent bag make with. It’s pretty. I have tried other woven tank tops but they seem to be a bit trapezey at the bottom which I don’t like. This one is pretty straight up and down and has bust darts, which is perfect. Will be making many more of these in all the variations. This one has the removable ties on the shoulders. I made this #paulinealicepatterns #verashirt fairly recently and every time I’ve gone to wear it, I’ve changed my mind🙄. I don’t know why…I thought maybe it was too big or too white or too whatever! I’ve usually tried to wear it with long pants or jeans. However, today i decided to pair it with my more recently made #mnharpershorts and I believe Vera has met her match! Hoorah!!! I’m so glad because I just love the style of this shirt and was loathe to let it go unworn and eventually donating it. According to my #moonlitsummer colour card, charcoal grey is one of my best neutral colours. This really surprised me (ha! Along with every other colour on the card!) as I’ve generally steered clear of grey due to feeling it makes me look ill. (Well, except one light grey turtleneck I wear constantly in winter because I love it…turns out that grey is also one of my colours 😝) Anyway, this one especially has been a bit of a stretch for me to accept. As a result, I bought this charcoal linen with the intention of at least making pants cos I wasn’t quite ‘there’ yet for bringing it near my face, but of course, I didn’t have enough fabric🙄 Soooo…here I am in my new charcoal grey linen #fabricsstoreninopattern jacket and, I have to say, I think it works😝(ignore the tired eyes and sweaty sunscreen face. These pics were taken just now at the end of a day full of walking all over the city in 34C heat!) @yourcolorguru , you’re pretty good 🤩 (fyi that’s high praise in our apartment!) Posting my holiday makes now. We were in Corfu in the beginning of September and I needed proper shorts that fit me and are comfortable. I decided to make Megan Nielsen @megannielsenpatterns Harper shorts. I made a size XL on waist and blended to size L towards hips. The fit was very good. Other alterations I made: lengthened legs 4cm and added slash/slant pockets. I drafted the pockets myself and I’m super proud of myself😊 After taking the @thesewingretreat Design Confidence course, where I learned pattern cutting, I feel like whole new world with endless possibilities opened up 😃 I could alter and hack patterns I already have and create new patterns. The shorts were super comfortable and I practically lived the entire holiday in these two pairs 😍 I skipped the lining, but I definetly want to make a pair with lining as well. Probably for the next season. I added some bias binding on one pair. Fabric on both pairs was a some sort of viscose blend. Feels super soft and breathable. (i LOVE how engaging the bear post was. how fun to exchange messages with so many of you!💕. i'll definitely post when one visits!). this was the best photo i took of the three different fabrics i used for this #collagegathertop by @matchymatchysewingclub. it will be released later this month. i love this sweet pattern. the instructions are clear, precise and aesthetically pleasing. be sure to follow them so you know when they release new patterns 💕 it's a hot day here and i appreciate anything that has good air circulation 😉. the gathers are in all the right places and i am all for any pattern that doesn't require buttonholes, a zipper or interfacing. i lengthened it two inches for my height and made this using mask-making leftovers, all purchased from @kimonomomo_shop at the height of our lockdowns in 2020. She was working so hard at fulfilling all the online orders. She has a great selection of Japanese and Japanese-inspired fabrics; and also sashiko supplies. i love the center panels, which have a sashiko asanoha design printed on it. sashiko is japanese needlework that you do in kind of a stabbing motion, which is what sashiko literally means. i thought about doing real sashiko over it, but then i got tired of the idea already. 🤣 there is a seam on the front shoulder area that is not part of the pattern. that is from seaming scraps together. worn with #harpershorts by @megannielsenpatterns #sewingismymeditation #sewover50 #so50invincible #asiansewists #asianswhosew #losangelessews #upperbiggerthanfull #mnharper #mnharpershorts #pfscrappy

It’s lovely when something you’ve made hat you thought wasn’t a hit suddenly appears from the wardrobe! Enter the @megannielsenpatterns Harper skort I made for my daughter last summer. They didn’t really get worn as she spends a lot of the summer living in the two pairs of flint shorts from the summer before. I wish I could remember where I bought the lightweight stretch denim for these. I think it might have been fabric godmother. Harper is a pleasing pattern and as always with Megan’s patterns, the instructions are brilliant, which is necessary for the origami bit in the skort panel but the invisible zip and faced waistline give a lovely finish so I’m glad to see these getting some wear, even if there’s nowhere to go! Worn with an old rtw top , at least until she’s finished the knitted camisole she’s working on. #mnharpershorts

I have three kids 6 and under and spend a lot of time at playgrounds and in our garden. The denim was a total bargain purchased in Melbourne at @wearethefabricstore #wearetgefabricstore Today was all about cutting out the pattern and checking the denim, plus laying out the first bit of the pattern ready for cutting. I’ve never made jeans before and I anticipate it will be lots of mistakes and fails along the way. But the denim was such a good bargain I am willing to risk it. Day 8 of Me Made May 🧵 It’s Day 8 of Me Made May and it’s a big one for me. Today is my first day back in the office after a year of maternity leave. I won’t be properly back for a few weeks but it’s a big day and I’ve felt very nervous and excited. I’m delighted to be wearing some clothes I feel good in. This is my latest make - the @megannielsenpatterns Harper skort. Does anyone else find the word “skort” just insufferably uncool? Well, I do. But when I saw the silhouette of this and saw it was in a sale at @thefoldline, I couldn’t help myself. Then, once I had listened to the episode of the Love to Sew podcast hosted by Caroline (@blackbirdfabrics ) and Helen (@helens__closet) where they both sewed skorts, I knew it was my time to have a go. In the end, I’m really happy with it. It super comfy and practical and looks elevated. My perfect make! I’ll share sizing and amendments later, but it’s a lovely pattern that’s lined and finished nicely. I made it in a cotton twill from @rainbowfabrickilburn . I didn’t realise until cutting but it actually had some stretch. I like how this makes it sit but it wasn’t planned. So today I’m dressed as my 18 year old self who had a pair of tailored shorts that she used to wear ALL the time with tights. I’m trying to emulate that girl who would have been so delighted to learn that her life could be filled with such joy. I’ve paired it with my #fibremoodnorma blouse and my absolute favourite Hobbs trench coat.
