I made this @megannielsenpatterns #jarrahsweater recently because my house is freezing and I needed something comfy and warm. I’ve made the jarrah several times before - this is the version with the roll neck (unrolled) and cuffs and hem band. I love that this pattern has loads of options and is just a good basic. This version is incredibly quick to make, it’s all whizzed together on the overlocker. The fabric is my absolute favourite cotton fleece from @minervadotcom - I have this in lots of different colours and have made loads out of it. It behaves like polar fleece but is softer and cotton rather than polyester. I also used the scraps to make some reusable makeup wipes, so it feels like nothing was wasted from this make. #mnjarrah #mnjarrahsweater #minervamakers

This is the #mnjarrah by #megannielsenpatterns. Dog Faces sweatshirt fabric in Sage Green from #poundfabrics, which caught my eye - it was the dogs that did it! The fabric is so soft and 95% cotton. Sewed up beautifully. I didn't have the exact colour of matching thread, so I used black. Trying to get better with my twin needle topstitching. I lengthen the sleeves and the bodice by 3 inches #sewingtall. Really pleased with how this has turned out. I couldn’t not share this one since I’ve been wearing it for the last two days! This is my #MNJarrah Sweater in View A, with 10” length added to the fronts and backs to give an overall tunic length. Who has time for having a cold bum in winter?! - The fabric is a gorgeous brushed back French Terry rainbow leopard print with a stone/beige background, with a purple ribbing, both from @1stforfabrics that I sneakily treated myself to in their sale. I loved this Chicacheetah fabric from @guthrieghani as soon as it came out, but I've only just got around to buying some and making an @megannielsenpatterns Jarrah sweatshirt. I've made this pattern before, but this time, I lengthened the body by 2 inches and the sleeves by half an inch. I also made a facing for the ties. #diyootd I made these #seamworknash flared leggings a few months ago in some rib knit fabric from @whatkatiesews via @destash4palestine - I made a jumpsuit hack of this pattern in the summer (which I still need to share, but it’s quite full-on 😂) To be honest, I’m worried these are a bit flared for me even as dark coloured trousers. They are comfy and warm though, which is perfect for this time of year, and I’m trying to push myself out of my comfort zone a bit trying new things. I also wanted all the rib parts to be more close fitting so i used following method; measured the circumference of cuffs, neckline and hem, and multiplied the number by 0,75. The outcome tells the needed length of the rib. When I bought this fabric, I had exactly this outfit in mind. I wanted a cozy sweater made out of this warm sweat. It's so fluffy on the inside that it keeps me really warm. I made the Jarrah Sweater – again. This time I added a slit on the hem and sleeves. I had a bit of trouble because the fabric stood out a lot, especially in the front. I shortened it and now it looks much better so I decided to leave it and call it a day. I mean, since when is cozy clothing flattering? 🫠 I made sure to use up every «Made in 2023» labels – I still have one left. Not really one to hugely celebrate Valentines Day but I’ve had this fleece sweatshirting in my stash for about 3-4 years (what a surprise)! It was originally purchased from @1stforfabrics … Finally made it into a Jarrah, a pattern by @megannielsenpatterns Didn’t have ribbing/cuffing to hand that matched the heart colour or the right white for the base, so opted for the same fabric for the neckband, cuffs and Hem band and it works! Possibly going to put a light tee/ cami on before I take Fiamma out on a walk this afternoon underneath but we’ll see. I do like the Jarrah pattern as it’s quite versatile for a sweater pattern. It’s not boxy. But I think for any future Jarrahs I’ll lengthen the bodice. The Jarrah goes up to 56” bust, 48” waist and 58” hips. Hey! Back to cosy vibes. Here’s me wearing my Jarrah Sweater. Jarrah curve goes up to 58”/147cm hips (body measurements, not finished garment measurements). I went with view c with a waist tie and really happy I went with my gut even though I wasn’t sure that this garment shape would work for me. I took my Bust measurements, 46” and graded out to my Hips 58”. For my sleeves I used the 20 sizing. I used the Jarrah curve pdf. This week I’m taking part in @sistermintaka Feel Sew Much Better sewing challenge, designed to lift our spirits & encourage the online sewing community. My first make for my mini! The Jarrah sweater by @megannielsenpatterns has quickly become a favorite T&T pattern in my winter arsenal, and after Janey started gravitating toward big sweaters and leggings this Christmas, I thought she’d love her own version of this sweater. Enter the Mini Jarrah! We chose the cropped funnel neck view, lengthened the sleeves and bodice to fit her tall frame and sewed it up in some of @blackbirdfabrics’ snuggly bamboo and cotton stretch fleece in Toffee. I love how quickly it came together and how perfectly it fits her! It’s been awhile since I’ve done matching outfits with P ❤️. My sweatshirt is inspired by a sweater that @starleewhite wore in an ootd last year, and its lived rent free in my head ever since. I used my favorite #MNjarrah , and it was easy to divide it up for color blocking. A couple other adjustments I made was widening the neckband ribbing, and narrowing the side seams so the shape was a little less boxy. Penny’s is also a #mnminijarrah . I didn’t have enough of the green sweatshirt fleece to colorblock hers in the same way, so I just cut a contrasting kangaroo pocket. Another first. Making clothes for little people with BIG opinions. My eldest was perfectly content with however I chose to dress him for the first five or so years of his life. Now, not so much! And younger brother developed opinions early on. So many hand-me-downs have gone unworn because of this. With this knowledge, I still wanted to make clothes for them (and risk them being unworn 💔😫). They’ve been real supporters of my sewing hobby, and say the most encouraging things whenever they see me working on a project. 🥰 They were genuinely excited when I told them I would be making something for them next. “Who would refuse a cozy sweatshirt?” I thought. No one. I chose a drop shoulder sweatshirt pattern, and settled on @megannielsenpatterns‘ #mnminijarrah and #mnjarrah (for myself, of course). I then pondered splurging on my first serger for a good couple of months before my partner gifted me one as a (quite) early birthday present. !! I literally squealed in delight when the first sweatshirt came off the serger with bands and cuffs in place. So small, so cute, so satisfying to sew! I can only imagine sewing clothes for tiny babes. 🥹 Each one took about an hour to sew, which is lightning speed in my book. The kids happily put their fresh-off-the-machine sweatshirts on, and danced around in them. And kept them on the entire* day!! 🥳 *Okay, so they took them off for a bit. It was a rare warm day! DETAILS 🌻 My kids are on the smaller side; I made the sizes that match their ages, giving them room to grow. 🌻I wasn’t brave enough to try a twin needle this time, so I topstitched the hem and neck bands. I used a zigzag stitch with a width of 0.5mm and length of 2.5mm. (You can see the stitching up close if you swipe through.) The topstitching made a rippling effect, so I may have stretched the fabric while sewing. 🌻 Modifications: Reduced hem band circumference by a few inches, as I wanted more volume. 🌻 Fabric: the softest cotton French terry and 2x1 rib knit from @iseefabric #iseefabric #mnminijarrah #memade #memademay2022

MeMade sweatsuit details ✨    The tops is the @megannielsenpatterns #MNJarrah — I’ve made this several times before and find the sizing and construction straightforward, so no notes here.     But the bottoms were new to me, kinda. I’ve attempted the @truebias #HudsonPant once before, several years ago, and it was a complete failure. Like, I couldn’t even get the pants above my thighs. YIKES.     My measurements would guide me to a size 2 in these but for fear of again not fitting into these (one of the worst feelings), I cut these as a very loose 4/6. I wasn’t gonna print and tape the PDF pattern again so I just eyeballed adding a generous 3/8” to the seams. My seam allowance was 1/4”. Additionally, I did the mid rise hack on these as instructed on the True Bias blog. (In full disclosure, I forget to raise the bottom of the pocket curve but it doesn’t seem to have mattered much — I just tacked the bottom inch of the pocket closed so it didn’t stick out.)    Anyway, happy to report that the fit on these is great, and I love the mid-rise. Terrible artificial lighting but I’m still looking pleased with myself as this is the comfiest pj/loungewear set I’ve ever had! I found both of these fabrics when I went to the Christmas shopping event at @guthrieghani and instantly pictured this set. The checked flannel is so soft, and the viscose blended knit makes a really cosy top. The bottoms are from the Agnes Pyjama Set- I added 4” to the leg length and 2” to the rise and they are super comfy. They are lovely and high waisted, and a perfect length. My 4th pair of Jenny’s this year, I think I am obsessed! I’ve tinkered with the fit again and took 3/8” off the back and front rise as they seem to grow quite a bit in denim and twill. So that’s 2 full inches removed from the front rise now. The hips are a 20, but the waist is more like an 18 as I widened the darts and streamlined the back seam. Somehow I’ve managed to make the waistband on these about an inch too big, but we’ll give them a wear and see how they go. I can always take a chunk out the back seam if needs be. I’ve somehow managed to cause myself a real calamity making these, many pin stabs, and a complete mess up of adding the back pockets resulting in a full removal and start again. I decided to have some fun with a Closet Core jeans pocket template which I love. And I’ve had a fixation for green topstitching. I got this lovely heavy denim from Mill Creations and it has a kind of flecky appearance. As usual I used my self drafted patch pockets. Ready for another work day after a lovely long weekend. I thought I’d explain #Memademay2025 for my non-sewing followers. It’s a month where us sewists decide how we want to participate, some wear and post me made’s every day, others use it as a time to review their me made wardrobe and plan their makes for the rest of the year. I personally love seeing what everyone else is sharing to gain inspiration for my own makes. It’s already made me realise that I need to make more separates. I love a dress and have made many! I need to focus on some separate tops and definitely bottoms. I’ve made two pairs of jeans which I love, but for my sitting on my bum all day job, I want more comfort, so will be making some wide leg neutral coloured bottoms to go with all my colourful and patterned tops! Me made May Day 4. Today’s a chill day so wearing my newly made (finished yesterday) Arden Pants by Helen’s Closet which was last months Guthrie Ghani sewing society kit. I love these - the linen viscose fabric is lovely to wear & was a dream to sew. I made a toile prior to cutting out in the kit fabric & from this increased the rise, did a tilted waist & thin thigh adjustment & scooped out the back crotch slightly. Am really happy with the fit & will definitely make more of these. The photos don’t really do them justice as don’t show up all the details. This is my second make from the Starry French Terry from @poundfabrics - a dress and an oversized jumper out of 3m was definitely a pattern Tetris win! #solineshorts by @staystitchpatternco This pair is a wearable toile, made out of a mid weight old linen curtain ♻️ I made size 10 as a compromise, since my hip measurement would put me at size 9 and waist measurement at size 11. The fit was a bit too roomy, so i tapered the outseams inward by 2cm and now its good. Next time i will probably choose size according to the hip measurement. I also narrowed the waistband, since i didnt want the paperbag-look. This is a size 10 tweaked a bit for extra hip space. And I widened the sleeve. It’s sweater weather here this bank holiday weekend, so I get to wear this recent make. It’s an adapted version of one of my favourites - the Jarrah sweatshirt by Megan Nielsen. The main change I made is to extend the height of the neckband pattern piece to make it an extra cosy, slouchy funnel neck. The fabric is my favourite thing about this make. It’s a cotton modal knit fabric by Fibre Mood. I really love the texture and the soft pistachio colour. I had to overlock the edges as it’s a looser knit texture. And I was careful to make sure the fabric didn’t stretch out as I sewed it. I have been drawn to plain fabrics recently and especially ones with some texture. So this top is a perfect addition to my wardrobe. My latest Jenny pants are already in heavy rotation and I’ve been meaning to make a little post about the side seams on this pattern. I love everything about this pattern including the zipper insertion method. I made a tiny change regarding the side seams. The seam allowance at the sides is 1” which is so you can get a lapped side zipper in there. Then the pattern calls for the whole seam to be pressed open. However I much prefer the strength and ease of having my seams overlocked together and pressed to the back normally and didn’t fancy 1” seams flapping about. So although I hate cutting into the seam allowance, there’s so much space I chopped in just under the fly by 1/2” (added a little fray check for extra security) so I could trim the seams upto the zipper and in this case I pressed towards the front. MeMade sweatsuit details ✨    The tops is the @megannielsenpatterns #MNJarrah — I’ve made this several times before and find the sizing and construction straightforward, so no notes here.     But the bottoms were new to me, kinda. I’ve attempted the @truebias #HudsonPant once before, several years ago, and it was a complete failure. Like, I couldn’t even get the pants above my thighs. YIKES.     My measurements would guide me to a size 2 in these but for fear of again not fitting into these (one of the worst feelings), I cut these as a very loose 4/6. I wasn’t gonna print and tape the PDF pattern again so I just eyeballed adding a generous 3/8” to the seams. My seam allowance was 1/4”. Additionally, I did the mid rise hack on these as instructed on the True Bias blog. (In full disclosure, I forget to raise the bottom of the pocket curve but it doesn’t seem to have mattered much — I just tacked the bottom inch of the pocket closed so it didn’t stick out.)    Anyway, happy to report that the fit on these is great, and I love the mid-rise. I used light french terry and made size 10. I made some modifications to the pattern; i wanted the neckline to be a bit tighter so i made it 1cm narrower. I also wanted all the rib parts to be more close fitting so i used following method; measured the circumference of cuffs, neckline and hem, and multiplied the number by 0,75. The outcome tells the needed length of the rib. This is my second make from the Starry French Terry from @poundfabrics - a dress and an oversized jumper out of 3m was definitely a pattern Tetris win! I made this @megannielsenpatterns #jarrahsweater recently because my house is freezing and I needed something comfy and warm. I’ve made the jarrah several times before - this is the version with the roll neck (unrolled) and cuffs and hem band. I love that this pattern has loads of options and is just a good basic. This version is incredibly quick to make, it’s all whizzed together on the overlocker. The fabric is my absolute favourite cotton fleece from @minervadotcom - I have this in lots of different colours and have made loads out of it. It behaves like polar fleece but is softer and cotton rather than polyester. I also used the scraps to make some reusable makeup wipes, so it feels like nothing was wasted from this make. #mnjarrah #mnjarrahsweater #minervamakers

This is the #mnjarrah by #megannielsenpatterns. Dog Faces sweatshirt fabric in Sage Green from #poundfabrics, which caught my eye - it was the dogs that did it! The fabric is so soft and 95% cotton. Sewed up beautifully. I didn't have the exact colour of matching thread, so I used black. Trying to get better with my twin needle topstitching. I lengthen the sleeves and the bodice by 3 inches #sewingtall. Really pleased with how this has turned out. #diyootd I made these #seamworknash flared leggings a few months ago in some rib knit fabric from @whatkatiesews via @destash4palestine - I made a jumpsuit hack of this pattern in the summer (which I still need to share, but it’s quite full-on 😂) To be honest, I’m worried these are a bit flared for me even as dark coloured trousers. They are comfy and warm though, which is perfect for this time of year, and I’m trying to push myself out of my comfort zone a bit trying new things. They would be easy to slim the flare down if I decide to later. I’m also wearing a #mnjarrahsweater that’s several years old and still going strong. A pleated Mabel! I need more jumpers, in some ways they need to be sweatshirts but can I have something to wear with everything? I think #fibremoodmabel could be it. I bought this fabric with my friend in the @quiltyarnstitch sale (the best kind of friend “do you need anything in the sale?”!!) and didn’t read the description. It arrived, beautiful but lighter than I expected and wouldn’t work so well with my plans for another #mnjarrahsweater. I also was doubting if I wanted another sweater with drop shoulders. The Mabel drew me in but the gathers didn’t convince me. I had just bought an rtw sundress with amazing cotton lace and Mini-me and I have plans to change the gathered waist to a pleated one as it’s not doing the shape any favours. The #emblassweater has been on my list too. So with pleats on my mind, I set to pleating my sleeve heads and cuffs/ends. I’m pretty pleased with it 🥰. The self fabric on the cuffs and wrists make me feel like it’s more versatile, plus I didn’t have a match (I think QYS have a good match, I just don’t use it for a Jarrah). I’ve yet to hem it - the joy of tucking a top into a skirt and running out to meet sewing friends! I've made this pattern before, but this time, I lengthened the body by 2 inches and the sleeves by half an inch. I also made a facing for the ties. When I bought this fabric, I had exactly this outfit in mind. I wanted a cozy sweater made out of this warm sweat. It's so fluffy on the inside that it keeps me really warm. I made the Jarrah Sweater – again. This time I added a slit on the hem and sleeves. I had a bit of trouble because the fabric stood out a lot, especially in the front. I shortened it and now it looks much better so I decided to leave it and call it a day. I mean, since when is cozy clothing flattering? 🫠 I made sure to use up every «Made in 2023» labels – I still have one left.
